HP Model #A6000n Bios Checksum Error after Bios Update!!

I performed the Bios update posted on Hp's website...After the re-boot, all I get is this error, "BIOS Checksum Error," and then the black screen looks for a bootable disk on floppy (this computer has none), then, it looks for a bootable disk on the CD drive.  Now, I have talked to HP support and they say I need to order the recovery disks.  Can someone send me a bootable file that I could burn to CD for this model machine and get it up and running??  I have an older machine here that would allow me to make a bootable CD but, I have no idea where to locate some kind of BIOS update and or, bootable file to flash the BIOS.  I am so mad that HP has wanted me to purchase this CD recovery program just to get back into Windows Vista.  But, I am not sure what to do since the BIOS update must have been corrupt when I flashed the ASUS motherboard.  This computer is my Aunts and she failed to make back up restore disks and now I am lost as to getting this thing up and running...Please help!!
Thanks!

Like I said, if you have a floppy it is easy, especially since the computer doing the floppy is XP.OK, here we go.
1) place floppy disk in drive
2) open My Computer and right click on the floppy drive
3) pick format from the menu that pops up
4) put a check mark in the box next to the "Create an MS-DOS startup disk"
5) click "Start"
6) when completed copy the awdflash.exe to the floppy
7) right click on the BIOS file from HP
8) move the mouse cursor to 7-zip and then click on "open archive"
9) double click on the folder icon in the new window
10) right click on the ROM file - in this case 513.rom
11) pick "copy to" from the menu and browse to the floppy
12) when that is complete, the floppy should be ready to work
13) Move the floppy and ribbon cable to the Vista computer.  It does not need to be mounted but make sure it is not touching anything metal ( a stake of books will do fine) and connect the ribbon cable and power to the Vista computer's motherboard and power supply (of course this is done with both of the computers off and unplugged)
Now ready to go on the Vista computer. When the power button is pressed on the computer, there will be an HP splash screen come up.  From that screen press the "Enter BIOS" or "Boot setup" key as indicated.  Forgot to ask if this screen comes up in previous posts.  If this screen does not show then this is going to be much harder.
When in the BIOS, look for boot order and then set it to boot from the floppy first.  Save choices to exit.
14) Reboot - should end up with a flashing cursor in the top right corner
15) type AWDFLASH 513.rom /py/sn/cc then hit Enter
16) when and if it completes power down and remove the floppy drive from the computer
That should do it.  If it does not work or there are problems come back with an explanation of what did happen.
Of course, doing all this at your own risk.  I am just trying to help.

  • K7N2 - Bios Checksum Error - But wont load program to flash bios

Hi there, my computer restarted itself due a problem with windows (kernel dll or something arather), since then it wont boot at all, beeps twice and says Bios Checksum error.
Now i understand this means the Bios is corrupted and i need to re-flash it. I looked at instructions on how to do this and followed them to the button. However, it wouldnt load a boot disk at all so i reset the Cmos using the jumpers.
After reseting it would now read the disk (i can hear it make noises) but it would only get as far as starting to load the award flash program, i.e. it just says "Starting..." but then the disk will stop reading at it will just hang then doing nothing.
I've tried numerous disks and numerous bios version numbers (but obviously the right ones for my motherboard: K7N2 Delta series Ms-6570), and i've tried using different types of bootdisk all with the same result.
Is there anything else i can do? or is it pretty much screwed and i have to take it back to the shop i bought it from and request a new bios chip (technically its still under warranty, as its only 10 months old but would this be covered with the warranty?). I can foresee taking it back being a huge hassle so if there is anything i can do to avoid this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I never cleared the cmos with the power on. Sorry i didnt make it clear, but yeah i always made sure the power was completely out. I left the battery out last night too, but still no change. All cables are on right, and I'll try taking out all the cdrom and cd when i get home. I cant get into Bios (pushing del key). all i get is two beeps and boot block telling me that there is a Bios Rom Checksum error (again, sorry i wasnt being very clear).
I think it might be pretty much stuffed. I'm tempted just to go to the store and buy another one as they aren't too expensive and probably not too much of a price difference from getting a new bios chip and having to wait for 2 weeks while it gets delivered. But then again maybe i should just be patient and save myself some money.
Hmm, could it be due to bad RAM? I'll try swapping it with my brother's and see what happens. It's kind of ridiculous that they give the same generic error message for a multitude of different problems, someone should fix that.

  • URGENT HELP!! BIOS Checksum Error, Floppy?

When I boot up, I get a error saying "BIOS Checksum Error"
and it asks for a system floppy disk
    I cannot get any further.
I tried flashing the bios, but this does not work.
    Please help!!!

oh, yes thats what I meant.
sometimes the it would not read the floppy
somtimes it would hang while booting the floppy
sometimes I could get far enough to run the flasher utility but it would hang
finally I was able to get far enough to flash the bios, then everything worked fine.
I guess it just got corrupt some how.
I set my boot floppy to load zero drivers and do nothing.
and I set it to run the flash on bootup.
I think there is a time limit or something before it hangs and gets stuck.
I also moved my ram from ddr2 to ddr1, that also seemed to help it get farther.
I just kept trying for like two hours until it worked.

  • I keep getting a msvcr80.dll error after iTunes update failed?

I keep getting a msvcr80.dll error after iTunes update failed?

Seems the base of the problem is the update installation does not change the libraries but the software wants to see them changed.  So the user has to go clear out all software that shares the libraries and then install the full version so they are rebuilt properly.

  • Dell 7520 (15r SE) BIOS checksum error

    Hi everyone,
After sucessfully upgrading my laptops BIOS from A09 to A11 yesterday it booted normally but today it just beeps (single beep every few seconds -> ROM checksum error...).
Is there a recovery method like the Phoenix Crisis tool or such to recover a broken BIOS or can I flash the BIOS using an SPI-Flash programmer?
    Thanks,

  • Error after Bios update on VN7-591G

Hello Guys, I update my Bios to latest version which I found in Acer website - v1.13, everything goes smooth, but after the update my laptop boot with following error - "No bootable device''. I found how to bypass this problem - switching from UEFI secure boot to Legacy. And after this everything goes normal, but I want to use UEFI secure boot. Problem here is that when I move back from Legacy to UEFI I receive same error nobootable device and I can't run my OS. Any clue how can I fix this problem ? Thanks in advance,Br YoZone

Yeah, some of the stuff doesn't add up.....but it should be an easy fix. 1.backup all your important files to a different drive so you can retrieve them later (this is very important because you're going to wipe your SSD clean and start over) 2. Grab your windows 8.1 installation media as you'll need it soon  3. go in to your BIOS settings and load administrator defaults.  It's F9 on my Acer computer, not sure what it is on yours.  And then save and exit (possibly the F10 key) 3.5  go in to bios and enable boot menu and then save and exit 4.  Boot your windows installation media 5.  after you select your language, click "repair my computer" 6. Navigate in the menu until you find "command prompt" 7. Use diskpart clean (which will wipe your SSD clean) http://forum.crucial.com/t5/The-Cru/Reset-your-SSD-to-factory-settings-Windows-DiskPart/ba-p/162503 After you use the "clean" command as described in link above, type "convert GPT" and hit the enter key.And after you use the "convert GPT" command, type "clean" and then hit the enter key on your keyboard And then exit out of there to get back to your windows installation media drive main menu. 8.  Navigate in the windows installation media menu until you find "shutdown", and shutdown your computer 9.  Boot to your windows installation media and install windows.  Install windows on the entire unallocated space. Do not partition and do not format.  The windows installer will partition and format your SSD automatically for you.  Edited: Edited to make sense since you don't have Acer OEM windows.

  • BIOS checksum errors

I am running Fedora 14 on my ThinkPad SL500. The dmesg command indicates that there are checksum errors in the BIOS:
    $ dmesg | grep checksum
[    0.164256] ACPI Warning: Incorrect checksum in table [SSDT] - 0x4E, should be 0xDD (20100428/tbutils-314)
[    0.167894] ACPI Warning: Incorrect checksum in table [ATKG] - 0x82, should be 0x53 (20100428/tbutils-314)
[    0.169753] ACPI Warning: Incorrect checksum in table [SSDT] - 0x37, should be 0xC7 (20100428/tbutils-314)
[    0.209744] ACPI Warning: Incorrect checksum in table [SSDT] - 0x4E, should be 0xDD (20100428/tbutils-314)
I have updated the BIOS to the version of 12/16/2010 and then reset the BIOS settings to the manufacturer defaults and still recieve these warnings.

    welcome to the forum!
are you having any issues with ACPI events like suspend or hibernate?   if not then i wouldn't worry about it at all.
even if the checksums are incorrect it's unlikely that these are causing any problems in your system.   if you are having issues though please report exactly what you're experiencing with a description of the steps necessary to reproduce the issue(s).

  • Bios checksum error

have two kt7 pro motherboards on differnet machines and both are having exactly the same problem. I originally had a problem wiht booting my hard disk, so I tried to boot from an old win 95 HD and put my win 2k HD as a slave. This is when I stated to get problems with my motherboard. During the POST, I get a Bios Checksum erorr, cannot find Drive A. At this point the machine stalls with the diagnostic LED showing that I it cannot find the memeory. However, I have tried numerous banks of memeory so I am confident that this is not the problem and have tried resetting the bios (by removing the battery and moving the jumper). This is happening on both machines, with or without any other hardware connected.
Please can anybody shead some light on this frustrating problem.
    Thanks
    Aaron

    Hi!
I don't want to insult you, but...
Are you sure you haven't connected the floppy drive ribbon cable upside down.  (Remember, the lump s/b directed towards the bottom on floppies, i.e. -----¬_------, not ______¬______ like on IDE devices.
Could try disconnecting the floppy drive (including power) and disabling 3.5" floppy in BIOS.

  • Checksum Error after downloading

Hi, I purchased as a bundle both Adobe Elements 10 and Photoshop Elements together at the half price special. Adobe Elements 10 installed just fine with serial number provided for me...however
Photoshop Elements downloads and upon completion a pop-up window states that "unable to verify, checksum error" and only thing I can do then is to cancel the whole thing. I've tried both download procedures with the same result, failure to get my Photoshop Elements installed due to checksum error...any suggestions?
    thanks

All you can do is try downloading again from the Adobe Web site.  Use IE, if you're using a different browser.

  • Tons of permission errors after iLife updates....

I always repair permissions before and after any updates..
Before the iLife update I had just one permission error with cups or whatever, I always get that one...
After the iLife update, I am having hundreds of errors every time I repair.. I also had a kernel panic this morning..
I ran FSCK, hundreds of errors.
I've used disk utility to repair disk.. No problems found.
I've used Disk Warrior, No problems found..
Anyone else experience this? Should I try and reapply the standalone installer? I hate to reinstall any software with all these permission errors.
    Advice?

Yes, everything seems to be working fine.. I reapplied the standalone, no longer have hundreds of permission errors, but still have about 50 each time I repair.. The report shows all errors related to front row and iPhoto..
If it's no cause for concern, I won't worry about it..
    Thanks.
