HP monitor 2009m goes black on a reandom basis.

HP monitor 2009m goes black on a reandom basis.  Starting in safe mode (as recommended) OK once but not every time.  What is causing the problem and how does the problem get fixed?

Eric Ross,
Hi,
I did as You indicated and found on the top left hot corner was set to "put display to sleep" and the lower left hot corner was set to " disable screen saver", Both Right side upper and lower hot corners were not set (they had a -)
So, I adjusted the two "set" hot corners to - to match the other two. No incidents since of any display going black on a intermittent basis or at all, Thank You Very Much for Your Reply and Insight! Will post as "Correct Answer"

  • My iMac monitor just goes black

I have a 2009 27inch iMac with an external Samsung monitor.
Out of the blue, the iMAC MONITOR just goes black. Like it went to sleep or something.
This has happened 4 times in the last 2 weeks. (luckily I can restart the computer because the external Samsung still works.
I restart the computer and the monitor works fine again.
    Help.
    Thanks.

    Hi.
    Screen goes totally black.
The good news is, I read around and was advised to turn off the computer and unplug it, and plug it back in and start up. That seems to have fixed it. So far, so good.
    Thanks.

  • Program monitor keeps going black in Premiere Pro CC

PC - Premiere Pro CC - AMD Fire Pro (13.101-130604a-158071E-ATI)
I'm working on a project and the program monitor keeps going black in Premiere Pro CC while I am working on the timeline. I've got like 28 GB of memory alocated to the program and just updated the latest driver for my video card. No clue why this keeps happening, but the only way I can get around it is to restart. When I go to close down the program freezes and I have to shut it down in the system preferences.
Under a crazy deadline if you can help? Thanks

here's my story. I'm also having this problem with video appearing in the Program monitor. The only thing I did differently is that yesterday when I was editing, I pulled the Program monitor out of the main Premiere interface and dragged it over to my second desktop monitor. that worked just dandy.
when I opened Premiere today, and opened an entierly different project, there was no video in the output window (and it was locked back into the main interface). I also can't select clips on the TL. The software locks up, and I have to restart.
I am able to create a new project and render the countdown leader. I was also able to import the project that wasn't displaying correctly, and have it work just like normal. So I think I'm back in business for now.
I'm deeply concerned though. I'm doing a webinar about Premiere very soon (with rehearsals tomorrow!). A failure like this looks bad for everybody. Also, I don't relish having to re-import all of my old projects in this way to get the basics working again. Any idea what went wrong? Right now I feel like I'd better never drag the program window to a second monitor to enjoy a larger program monitor while editing.

  • HT1430 I am having to restore my iPhone on a weekly basis and it is going black on a daily basis- this is ridiculous! Is this normal for an apple product?

I am having to restore my iPhone through my iTunes account on a weekly basis and the screen is going black on a daily basis and just turning off suddenly. This is ridiculous! Is this normal for an apple product?

That is obviously not normal. I would make an appt at an Apple store to get it checked.

  • HP LP2065 Monitor suddenly goes black for a second occasionally

    Hi all,
I have an HP LP2065 LCD monitor that I use with my 2 desktops  that dual boot with Windows 7 and Vista . Lately the monitor will suddenly go black for less than a second. This happens randomly and not all the time, and only a few times each day. I have made sure that the driver is up to date on both computers. I have tried to troubleshoot the issue, but, nothing out of the ordinary is found.
What would cause the monitor to suddenly go black?
Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello TinkRbelle,
I understand your monitor is going blank for a second or two at random intervals. As you have two operating systems getting the same issue I think we can rule out software. I would start by unplugging the power from the wall and from the monitor and holding the power button down on the monitor for 30 seconds or so. Plug it back in and see if the issue persists. If it does replace the power cord/adatper.

  • 2nd monitor keeps going black and back on. How to stop that?

Since installing MAVERICKS the 2nd monitor does not stay up all the time.
It will go black for a few seconds and then comes back.  WHY?
    How to stop this?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How to stop monitor from going black after no activity for a short time while reading a document?

When I'm reading an e-mail or document without moving my mouse, the screen turns black after only about one minute and then switches to my screen saver.  I must move the mouse constantly to keep my active window open.  I can't find out how to turn this "Energy Saving Feature" off so I can read long articles without being interrupted every other minute.  This has been VERY irritating!

    Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Pesonalization, click the Screen saver link in the bottom right and in the following window, adjust the time in the 'Wait' box to a time you want before the screen saver appears and click Apply. Or if you prefer never to get the log-on screen, remove the tick next to 'On resume, display logon screen'.  Click Apply to save the change.
Next, open windows Control Panel  again and click Power Options, click the Change plan settings link next to your currently selected power plan and in the following window adjust the time using the dropdown box next to 'Turn Off Display' to a more acceptable setting and then click Save Changes.
Note:  Set the time in the Power Options menu to be slightly longer than the time you set in the Screensaver Menu or you will never see your screensaver start.

  • Hp2509m goes black too fast to use any of the fixes

I have read, and tried to use, many of the previous forum answwers regarding an HP monitor screen going black.  For example resetting the MENU to FACTORY DEFAULT; correcting OCD display errors; power-cycling; tenacity and patience with repeatedly pressinfg MENU, +/-, and volume  et al.  My problem:  the screen will not stay lit long enough to effectively use/try any of the remedies mentioned!  One other forum mentioned he could 'see' the menu using a flashlight up tp the screen even when dark - well mine goes absolutely black!
I hooked up an old monitor to be sure it wasn't a video card and the monitor works great.
It is an HP2509m that has worked great for years until trying to turn it on two days ago!  It is attached to my HP Pavilion p6267c that i have had since 2010.
What else can I try?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Try the monitor and cable on a different PC to see if you have the same issues.
Remove the power and data cables and hold down the power button for 60 seconds. Now give it a go.
You might try Google "HP2509m repair" and see what others have said about repair issues.

  • My Macbook pro 1,2 monitor and laptop screen goes black once in a while and then comes back on

    Hello all,
Thank you very much for taking the time to view my issue. This issue just started about a month ago, I have a 22" LCD Monitor that I have been using, when this issue started the monitor would flicker and the screen would go black, but if I turned it off for a bit then turned it back on it would come back on. After a while it just started to go black and not come back on at all, so I decided to disconnect the monitor and use the notebook screen, I thought the monitor itself was broken. The notebook screen was working fine up until the last week, it is now doing the exact same thing, when my computer wakes up from being asleep it sometimes flickers then goes black, I can still faintly see the outline of the programs I have up but it is completely black. Sometimes it is a pain to get back on and I have to force shutdown and turn it back on to get it working. I am not sure what the problem is but I really want to get it fixed.
My Macbook Pro 1,2 is the first model made, but it was the best model available at the time. It has a Intel Core Duo 2.16GHz chip with 2GB of ram and a 160GB hard drive, it also has an ATI Radeon X1600 video card with 256mb of Vram. If anyone has any suggestions or resources I can use, I would greatly appreciate you sharing them with me.
Thank you very much in advance!
    Sincerely,
    Saggz.

  • MacBook Pro retina display goes black while outputting video through HDMI to external monitor??

I frequently connect my MacBook Pro to my 42inch Panasonic TV to watch movies/videos. I use VLC media player for all my playback. The problem I'm running into is that when I put VLC media player into fullscreen mode on my external display, my retina display goes black (I can still see the finder bar at the top and when I mouse down the dock appears but the rest of the display shows all black. If I click on Safari it will open but I can't see it on my MacBook display unless I take the external display out of fullscreen mode.
I would still like to be able to do things on my MacBook while video is playing. I've played around with the display settings but they're pretty limited and I can't figure out how to get it to work the way I'd like. I've seen people having up to 3 or 4 displays hooked up, I'm just trying to hookup one. I would consider this a severe limitation of OS X if I'm not able to separately manage the displays. Hopefully there is a setting or something I'm just not seeing. Thanks.

Yeah, fullscreen mode still doesn't play nice with multiple monitors. The common workaround is to stretch the window out to the edges of the screen instead of using actual fullscreen mode.

  • External Monitor with iTunes - iMac screen goes black

I have an iMac with iTunes 7.7/Leopard and an external VGA monitor (I use the standard Apple mini-DVI to VGA converter) then I use the external monitor to watch video from my iTunes library.
All works well - I have my desktop spread over both monitors, I fire up a movie from iTunes, move the video window across to the external monitor and everything is good - I can watch the video on the external monitor whilst continuing to work on my Mac - the iMac screen displays the Mac desktop as normal.
However, if I put the movie into fullscreen mode (view -> fullscreen on the iTunes menu), the external monitor displays the movie in fullscreen mode as it should, however the iMac monitor goes black.
The only way to fix this is to exit fullscreen mode and go back to one of the view options (rg fit to screen).
Any ideas how I can have my external monitor in fullscreen mode and have my desktop back?
    Many thanks
    SM

  • HT3131 Clamshell mode not working even after powering off and reconnecting display; external monitor goes black anyway

After connecting an external monitor (non-Mac) to my MacBook (Mac OSX 10.6.6) w/proper adaptor, setting up to use clamshell mode as per manual, the external still goes black even after putting MacBook to sleep, disconnecting and reconnecting external and powering up again as suggested in Support. Displays are set to Mirror. Also, when I open Displays in System preferences, 2 different windows for Resolution settings appear. Where have I gone wrong? This monitor (Viewsonic) came with it's own software for setup on a Windows PC, but of course it is not being used on the MacBook.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Mike,
Yes I followed all the procedueres....except for waking the computer using a keyboard click. For obvious reasons one is just inclined to open the top of the MacBook to wake it when the external goes dark...I did that twice, until I realized that very last step was needed to 'wake' it. It worked. Something so simple, easy to overlook I guess.
I did leave the monitors mirrored, fyi, if I don't then all I can access from the external are the resolution settings. This Viewsonic comes pre-loaded with Windows software of it's own and doesn't quite behanve the way my previous external did, but I got it figured out.
    Thanks for your response, tho!

  • Imac 27" Intel Core 7 CPU. Screen goes black and will not respond except with a push of power button. Second monitor connected via displayport continues to display fine. Apply Store did full hardware scan and all is fine. Did clean wipe from Mavrick back

Imac 27" Intel Core7  CPU 16 Gig RAM. Screen goes black and will not respond except with a push of power button. Second monitor connected via displayport continues to display fine. Apply Store did full hardware diagnostic and all is fine. Did clean wipe from Mavrick back to Mountain Lion but problem remains. Apple Store can do no more.

I did some more digging, it appears to be a backlight problem only. I can see the screen very dimly if I use a bright flashlight in a very dark room. It also seems to run ok if the brightness is turned down a LOT.
So I'm thinking this is a LED driver board issue or the display itself. I'll open it up and check the connection between the two and see if I can get any more clues. At least I can use it somewhat now by dimming the display significantly...

  • I turn my iMac on and it starts ok but after a minute the monitor goes black

Then, contact the Apple repair station that did the work.

  • Monitor goes black upon ejecting a CD?

Hi, I have just noticed that when I eject a CD from my MBP, the screen goes black for approximately 2-3 seconds and then ejects the CD. It does not go black upon inserting the CD.
I have not experienced any other problems with the drive, i.e. ripping, burning, reading issues. But this cannot be normal right? Didn't see any other posts on the subject in the archives.
Does this warrant a visit to the Genius Bar? Thanks

To narrow things down, go to the System Preferences and experiment with the CD/DVD preferences. It could be that the CD starts up a faulty application, rather then messing up your video-card/monitor setup.
