Hp notebook just shows a red blinking screen when turned on,can go to esc startup

Hi I have a Comp Hp presario CQ56 notebook pc,windows 7. I turned on my notebook
and it only shows a red Compaque screen and it blinks,I can how ever click on esc
and can go to the startup menu,I have ran the diagnostic tests and everything passes.
I can't figure out why nothing else loads,I also noticed that it gets very hot I have only
had it for 9months,could this be my motherboard?I can't boot in safe mode to even scan it
for a virus.do you know whats causing this and what I can do?
Thank you

Your issue sounds the same as the one I am having on my HP Pavilion dv6 purchased 14 months ago. Yikes out of warranty. I have owner only HP's laptops, about 4 so far. I even had a mini HP that I accidently left out in the rain overnight. The screen would not display after that I was surprised it even powerd up but I just keep it and then one day before I was giving it to Goodwill I decided too try one more time. Amazing it started up and worked like before. I gave it to my grandson and he still uses it.
I also recommend HP laptop to my daughter which I now regret doing because she said she has seen some issue. I told her to take it in she still has a warranty.
Are you still draining the battery to be able to startup without having this issue? I see that some have completely removed the battery.
If HP can't help with this issue they need to recall all of the models affected.
I hope someone can help us.

  • Imac gets white screen when turned on, can someone help me?

My aunt sold me her imac g4 for 80 bucks a couple of days ago.
It's 17" 1ghz with 256mb of ram, 80gb hard drive, an airport extreme card, superdrive, and an apple pro keyboard and mouse and mac os x tiger.
Last night it was working swell, but I had did research and decided I wanted to upgrade the ram and the hard drive, so a couple of hours ago I added 512mb pc2700 ram dimm, and also added a western digital 250 ide hard drive.
I also reapplied thermal paste to the spots where it needed it.
Upon turning on the system, it would do the normal chime and then the lcd would just go white, and it would stay that way, I also tried holding the mouse down and booting it, and it open the cd tray just fine, I was able to insert my tiger cd in there, but after rebooting again, it still stays white.
I can hear it reading the disc, but I don't know what to do, I really liked this mac, and I really want to try to fix this, any suggestions on what I can do to solve this?

can you boot into open firmware?
    To boot to open firmware:
    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-O-F.
Note: The Command key has the Apple and () icons on it.
keep holding the keys till you see "Welcome to Open Firmware."

hi, i am having a problem in my ipad 2 , it is not showing main screen just showing a black blank screen in which downloading icon is only shwn which is continously and when i connect to itunes via windows 7 it showing this error (0xE8000065) can any one

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Why when I publish template to FCPX the design appears as a thumbnail but the view shows the red warning screen with the Number 2?

why when I publish template to FCPX the design appears as a thumbnail but the view shows the red warning screen with the Number 2?

That is priceless!!!  Thanks!  I sure needed a good laugh after spending/wasting hours & days trying to either get my c6280 to give up on its Ink System Failure fixation, or find a decent replacement.  Unfortunately I need the Smart Web Printing feature that I guess only HP has, or I'd try a different brand. And now even HP has very few models with that available.
My error msg is a little different from those previously stated, but close:  0xc18a0201.  Even tho there were frustrations with my c6280, I did like several of its unique features which are hard to find now under $100.  I hate how HP (& I suppose other brands also) are CONSTANTLY changing models & then of course ink cartridges.
Oh heavens, I've had the c6280 a whopping 2 1/2 years!   I'm sure they want us poor slobs to have to buy a new one every year & a day!  To say nothing of the exorbitant prices for ink.  And now if this one is really dead in the water, I have SIX unused #02 ink cartridges which I cannot return---I got them in a combo pack, & for some reason have wound up with THREE lite pink & THREE lite blue cartridges, while having to buy extras of the other colors, that ran out before the others!!!   Yeah, & what's with that not being able to print in BLACK if a color runs out????
Anyway I really loved your essay!   It's a classic!  And says it all!  I hate that we have to be 'slaves' to the electronic 'wonders'!!!

  • My ipad will not charge up. it just shows the red battery signal and then switches off

my ipad will not charge up. it just shows the red battery signal and then switches off. The same charger succesfully charges other idas so i know it is no the charger that is faulty.Any suggestions

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Why is that whenever there's a power outage or whenever I restart my computer sometimes my iMac wont completely load up? It will just  show a blank white screen. It will do that for a few days until it decides to fully load up.

Why is that whenever there's a power outage or whenever I restart my computer sometimes my iMac wont completely load up? It will just  show a blank white screen. It will do that for a few days until it decides to fully load up.

First step would be a PRAM reset.

Post back if that does not work.
The next step would be to try "Repair Disk".

    Hello,
Ideally you need to boot from the disk as you have no other media advisable. (e.g your hard drive)
Without some form of system disk or restore you wont be able to diagnose the problem with your hard drive.
By using a Mac OS X system disk you can load up the Disk Utilities and repair the hard drive if shown it's available. If it's not available you would need to replace the hard drive and reinstall Mac OS. Without any disk to support you, you are going to struggle.
You can obtain replacement disk, both retail copies or system disk on the Internet.
If you know what version of Mac OS X you had install (I'm guessing that it would have been 10.3, but would recommend 10.4) A retail disk is normally black with a colored 'X' on it, while system disk are always.
Always try and obtain a copy of the system restore disks (Gray) for your iBook
Ebay is another outlet that has genuine system disk for sell, but like any auction site, it's as and when someone is selling them.
The only other thing you could do is take it to a Apple repair agent who could check the hard drive on your behalf. That way you can get confirmation if the problem is the drive or some other fault. They may even help restore the OS for you.
I can't think of anything else to try without some form of disk to help you.
There maybe just one other small thing you could try.
When booting up, firmly rest your palm of your hand on the iBook next to the tracker pad on the left side.
If it works then it's another fault that I'm aware of.

Hi, I have this green mark (with pointing arrow looks like a link) on some words show on my window screen when I open a web page, I wonder if it is a virus link or such. Need help how to get rid of it. Here's the example:
    WING
    GAMES
    MAJORITY
    Thanks

If the third link you posted (the link containing the word "majority") does not look like the following then you inadvertently installed adware.
That particular page should resemble the following:
The word "majority" in the third paragraph should not be a link and should not have the green icon associated with it.
To learn how this may have occurred, and how to prevent it from occurring in the future, read How to install adware
Most so-called "news" websites are nothing more than entertainment outlets that cater to prurient interests, and contain advertisements that leave the user about three clicks away from installing junk. If you decide to frequent those websites, Safari's "Reader" feature helps minimize that exposure.
    Try it:

Some snaps show up as black screens when I try to view them as single pictures.Even when I run them in slideshows they show up as black screens. These are jpeg files. How can I avoid this happening?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
