This is great info. And perfectly answers most questions. I have one question here. My processor is a Interl Celeron 530 M 1.73Ghz 1MB 533Mhz FSB (31W pwr) . Since you said that if the socket matches it should most probably work, Do I just need to look for processor that matches the socket ?? RegardsVenkat V HI,I found a link to all upgrade CPUs for your laptop. Here is the link to the service manual. The manual also gives instructions on what must be sequentilally removed in order to replace the processor. So...it is doable. I would put in a Core 2 Duo T8300 processor @ 2.4 GHz 800 MHz FSBThat processor is the best your laptop can take as an upgrade. this is a list of all of the compatible CPUs with the HP part number. Desktop: Mac Mini dual-core i5 (or quad i7 if you can afford it, it might seem overpowered but it will last you longer. Upgrade to 16GB RAM if you want to future proof that side of the machine. Don't buy from Apple, install it yourself).
Laptop: MacBook Pro 13' if you don't need portability, or MacBook Air 11' if you do (as RRFS has said).

  • Is Data recovery from a damaged DVB-3000 COT notebook/laptop possible?

I replaced a  hard drive for a DVB-3000 COT notebook/laptop. There are no additional cables to plug the old drive to attempt data recovery. Are there any external adaptors to attempt data recovery? Will I need software?

    Hi,
If you wish to use your old HDD as an external HDD to recover data, you can use one of the external enclosure like one of these:
      External Enclosures for HDD's
My suggestion, spend few dollars more to get the one with USB 3.0

  • Upgrading processor on HP/Compaq 2000 329wm Notebook Laptop

Yes i wanted to know if i could upgrade the processor on my HP 2000 329wm laptop without braking it or ruinning it in any type of way because my pc isn't working so well at the momment and i want to know if i could replace/upgrade the processor to a better one with more ghz

Based on the specs of your HP 2000-329WM Notebook Computer and the HP 2000 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide for your computer, you would have to replace the system board because the CPU/APU is soldered to it.

with windows 8 on ive upgraded to 8.1 via ms and then to 8.1 pro via download version (have so many ?'s )been wanting to make a dvd version of 8.1pro for backup what is needed for installing this new drive without any disk tried using usb drive but
got no where it also was saying drive is locked go unlock it try again can I get pointed in a direction any one want to be a buddy and answer the hundreds of ?'s and yes I know don't buy without a os systems disk ever again

    Hi,
I just would like to confirm with you if you would like backup your system and restore it to the new 1TB harddrive.
    If so, check following steps:
Note that this will format and repartition the new disk and restore the volumes contained in the image. This will restore the OS, applications and data contained in the critical volumes (volumes required for Windows to run). You can restore
the data on the other partitions on the disk from a file backup of required data from the old disk. I am assuming you have a file backup of your data as well.
    1) Create a System Image backup to the USB drive. When prompted to create a ‘System Repair’ disk, do so.
    2) Shutdown the computer and remove the hard drive power and SATA connectors from your original Windows 7 hard drive and any additional internal hard drives.
    3) Connect the power and SATA connector to the new hard drive. At this point this should be your only internal hard drive connected to the computer’s motherboard.
    4) Boot from the ‘System Repair’ disc.
    5) Verify the keyboard input method and click ‘Next’.
    6) Select the ‘Restore your computer using a system image that you created’ option located in the lower left and click ‘Next’.
    7) A scan for system images that are on your USB drive will begin. At completion of the scan you will have the option to ‘Use the latest available system image’ or ‘Select a system image’. Choose the recommended option and use the latest available system
    image and click ‘Next’.
    8) Choose additional restore options: Note: The ‘Format and repartition disks’ option will be check marked but disabled/grayed out. Click ‘Next’.
    9) The ‘Your computer will be restored from the following system image:’ information will be displayed. Click ‘Finish’.
    10) Re-image Your Computer prompt. You will now see a pop up with the following message: All data to be restored will be formatted and replaced with the layout and data in the system image. Are you sure you want to continue? Click ‘Yes’.
    11) Windows will now start restoring the image to the new hard drive.
    12) At the completion of the image restoration your computer will reboot, sit back and wait for Windows to start and then logon as you normally do, then remove the System Repair disc.
    13) You may be prompted to restart the computer to apply changes. Restart the computer.

  • RAM Upgrade for HP 15-D103TX Notebook Laptop

    Hi All,
I will really appriciate if you could help me out in this.
I am looking to upgrade the RAM of my laptop, ie. the HP 15-D103TX. I currently have the stock RAM.
What I want to know is -
    1. Will this RAM work on my laptop - http://www.flipkart.com/corsair-vengeance-ddr3-4-gb-1-x-gb-pc-ram-cmz4gx3m1a1600c9/p/itmd2rypbx4eeha...
    2. Will my HP Warrenty cover the replacement of the RAM?
Looking forward to the reply on this at the earliest as I need to take an urgent decision.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Not much information about your machine, don't know why:
         http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&lc=en&product=6875924
But on many HP 15" laptops now, you can't upgrade RAM yourself. New design won't allow you to do that. You have to talk with "Authorized Service Provider parts".
    Regards.

  • No sound on my G580 Notebook after upgrading to win 8.1

SInce upgrading to Win 8.1 on my 64bit Lenovo G580 notebook I kept receiving a message about Dolby driver problems (my sound did work though).  Then I thought I would get rid of this message - update Dolby drivers - and followed advice on the internet.  As I remember, this advice told me to uninstall all sound / dolby drivers and then install new drivers.
In doing this I somehow also uninstalled Dolby PCEE4 drivers for my G580.
I subsequently installed the latest G580 conexant drivers but with no success.  I can "see" that the drivers are working (when I click on the sound icon bottom right of the desktop), but there is no sound.  Other internet advice has been to obtain PCEE4 drivers - but I don't find any files from Lenovo to download.
I've tried to reload Dolby Advanced Audio V2, but it ends prematurely with the prior message that PCEE needs to be installed.
    Can someone please assist?

    Hi,
Does anyone can help me answers my silly questions regarding above subject. I have just installed a simulation games on my laptop HP PaviIlion dm4 - 1002tx Entertainment Notebook. I have problem on running it and beleive that my laptop system doesnt meet the requirements.
    Games Installed Minimum Requirement:
OS :  Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8
    Processor : 2.66GHz Intel Core2 Duo E6750 or 2.8GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+
    Memory : 2GB RAM
Graphics : 256 MB DirectX 9 / NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT or ATI RAdeon HD 2600 XT
Hard Drive : 12 GB HD Space
    Sound : DirectX 9.0c - compliant
    Games Installed Recommended :
OS :  Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8
    Processor : 3.1GHz Intel Core i3-540 or 3.3GHz Athlon II X3 455
    Memory : 4GB RAM
Graphics : 512 MB NVIDIA GT 240 or 512 MB ATI RAdeon HD 5670
Hard Drive : 12 GB HD Space

1- Can I upgrade my Processor to meet the requirements above?
2- What will be the type of upgrade to be done?
3- Is it possible to upgrade my processor from 2.26Ghz Intel Core i5 into Intel® Core™ i5-4690K Processor
    (6M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz) ?
    Please need badly your help.

No you absolutely cannot upgrade the processor from a first generation Core i5 to a 4th generation. The plug (socket) in the motherboard is not the same. The processor you refer to is not even a laptop processor, but you could not even install an equivalent laptop processor. Your real problem is I believe you have the Intel graphics, which do not meet the minimum specs in any way. You could install a processor that would be in the range necessary to play the game but that is not the whole issue. The fastest procesor you can install would be:
    Intel® Core™ i7 processor 640M, 2.80-GHz (SC turbo up to 3.33 GHz), 4-MB L3 cache
You could also install a motherboard with better graphics that are between the minimum and recommended specs.
    ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD6370 with 1024-MB of dedicated video memory [128-MB×16 DDR3, 800-MHz])
Whatever game that is has some moderately high recommended specs, but not super high. HP does currently make consumer laptops that would meet those specs. There is just no way to upgrade yours to get the necessary video performance to play it without buying a new processor and motherboard, which will not be much less than a new laptop.
