HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processor)

Hello,
I was looking through my updates and everything to make sure my computer is working to it's fullest. I noticed there was a recommended update that I should follow through with which is the HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processor), and I've download it and installed it, then afterwards, my computer told me that I had to restart it, which I did. I agreed to update it but it keeps popping up in the suggested updates and I've tried multiple times to do it. It never seems to work!
Please help.

Here is a direct link to the F.36 BIOS which is the latest. Have you tried downloading it and manually launching it rather than using the HP Update utitlity?

Make sure you have a charged battery and AC plugged in. Let us know what happens.
You might also try going into the BIOS (F10) as you power up and check the existing BIOS version. You may already have F.36.

  • System BIOS update failed

    Hello,
I need your help.  I ran HP System Diagnostics following recent BSOD incidents (about 3) on my Pavilion dv6.  I ran all the tests successfully except Memory Test as it takes 6 hours (approximately).
Interestingly the BIOS test came up with an error message "The System BIOS update failed. Failed reading BIOS image file".  I tried running BIOS driver update from th HP website for my dv6 notebook but I am not sure it worked.  During the update the computer would shut down - is that normal?
What can I do to check that my BIOS from 25 January 2013 is the current version? More importantly prevent future BSOD appearing.  I have plenty of memory, so rather intrigued.  Ran Norton and Microsoft Security and no viruses etc.
    Hope you can help.
    Many thanks,
    Barbs

    Hi,
So the system shut down is normal for BIOS update and if I can restart the computer, therefore assuming the update worked.
I checked HP System Diagnostics the BIOS test still returns with an error message "The System BIOS update failed. Failed reading BIOS image file".
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks again,

You must install all Windows 8 Update, before you windows 8.1 Update use
Never use MS Defender and other antivirus software.
After successful system update, install this software

  • G42-230us notebook automatic bios update failure

Last month my HP g42-230us laptop started an automatic HP update to the BIOS.  I did not request this to happen, it just started.  Afterward, the computer shut off and did not restart like it said.  So, I pressed the start button and it starts up and once Windows starts to load, it turns off.  I have tried the Win + B as suggested in other discussions.  I tried this and the HP BIOS UPDATE goes through the entire process of "Writing new BIOS Image."  It goes through all 512 blocks.  Then it verifies the BIOS image through all 512 blocks.   I receive the System Bios Recovery is Complete; however, when it tries to restart, it just shuts off.  I wait and nothing occurs.  I press the start button and I'm back to the computer shutting off right when Windows starts to load.  I have tried the WIN + B with the battery in and without (as suggested in other forums.)  My HDD is fine because I was able to pull the files off of it using a SATA adaptor.  I'd appreciate any assistance that someone could give me to try and get the computer back up and running

Vishal_g42 you would have to check with support in your area for your warranty options. It seems unlikely they will extend your warranty on a malfunctioning product, until it was proved to be functional again.

  • NOTEBOOK PC WITH VISION AMD PROCESSOR

Purchased the above PC in July 2010 from Best Buy.   I did not take the extended warranty when it was offered in July 2011.  Here we are in July 2012 and the Best Buy Geek Squad folks tell me that I should replace this computer as it is overheating and that the AMD processor is known to do this!!!!!    Repair cost 350.00 for a 399.00 purchase?????? !!!!!!!!!!   I am so surprised THAT something of this nature would not last last more than 2 years. My expectation was that I would have to get a new before in 5 years because of outdated programming.    My husband has a 5 year old Dell with no problems.    I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND NOT IMPRESSED WITH HP NOTEBOOK AT THIS POINT.
Yes, I have cleaned the dust out of the fan area a few times.
Is there another alternative to keep my computer cool without costing me a lot of $$$.
Even better although the warranty has expired it would be GREAT if HP showed some good faith and fixed this gratis.

Yeah that would be nice for HP to fix it gratis but it is not likely to happen. What needs to be done is to disassemble the laptop and replace the cooling compound between the processor and heatsink. It is not really an amateur job but can be done by a local repair shop for more like $100 or theoretically it can be done for free by the end user who is careful and good with a screwdriver. Best Buy is not a good place to go for this type of repair since they have to send the unit out to someone else and still take a cut of the proceeds.Even with that $350 is bordering on criminal. I can do it in two hours and for $350 I would be making almost what I charge as a lawyer.
There are even places on eBay which will have you send the laptop to them in a box, fix it and send it back for around $100. Let us know if you have any more questions. Keep in mind we do not work for HP we are all just end users like you so don't shoot the messenger.

  • Hp envy-m6 1201tx (Bios Update with switch-able graphics option)

Hi I have bought Hp envy-m6 1201tx, it is very smooth in working & all,
but the problem comes with switchable graphics.
i've studied every possible option for switchable graphics to work so i can use my AMD (Radeon HD 7670M),
but i can't because my pc does not support Opengl applications to run on High-perforance (AMD gpu) & and thus im forced to used low quality GPU(Intel HD Graphics 4000) which i don't want  . I want to use my AMD GPU and it it only possible if there is a (Bios Upgrade) from HP with the option of Switchable Graphics(Fixed Mode & Dynamic Mode). I've spent around $927 for this pc and also upgraded the RAM as well to 16GB & it will be all in vain if i can't use my AMD GPU. I just want bios upgrade for my PC like HP did the same bios upgrade for these PC's http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02948560&lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en . Its a problem all HP envy-m6 1201tx users and others are facing.. I im a loyal Customer of HP and i dont want to switch to any other brand so HELP and Replay ASAP.
I hope i wont get disappointed........

The only BIOS update available for the HP ENVY m6-1201tx Notebook PC is "HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors)" below. As to whether or not it includes Switchable Graphics in it I cannot say as there is nothing the description saying it does.

Not every computer or Notebook will have the option in the BIOS as not every computer or Notebook are the same hardware requirements may not be available for a BIOS option.

  • BIOS Update Bricked Pavilion G6-2040NR

A BIOS update bricked my wife's laptop.
At least, that's the surmise, (cap lock flash and all, I have 30yrs around computers, not a noob) given it hasn't worked since mid-June, and there was an update for it June 17 2014.
I've gone through every step on another support page on this same site, http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/How-to-use-the-HP-BIOS-update-uefi-utility/... , but the phoenix tool suggested in step 7 to download doesn't do the job it is supposed to on update file sp66880 to enable me to complete getting a USB stick together capable of recovering the system.
I cannot for the life of me find an update of this same tool to work in the same manner (beitas solution was posted March 4, 2013; update was 15 months later, it's 22 total months later,  I figure there must be an update).
I'm through step 6 and just stumped.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

We did try all of that in diagnosing that it's restore BIOS via USB or nothing.  The page I referred to in my original post seems to be my only option at this point.
The issue at hand, is: (c/p from http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/How-to-use-the-HP-BIOS-update-uefi-utility/... ), posted by http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/1385209 (if I could somehow tag him)
]]6. Download and run the HP Notebook System BIOS Update from the HP support drivers page.
]]- Now this file will be named sp****.exe. DO NOT RUN THIS FILE ON OTHER PCS... Extract this exe (with winrar, 7zip etc)
]]- There you will find the biggest file(by size) in the folder, it can be *.bin, *.ph or whatever. Just find it, DONT DO ]]ANYTHING YET.
]]7. Now download the phoenix mod tool from here:
    ]]http://www.sendspace.com/file/xxd63k (or google it...)
]]- Extract it and open the PhoenixTool.exe, open the *.bin file you found in original BIOS.
]]- Let it do it's word and keep clicking ok..
Step 7 is where I am stuck.  The Phoenix Tool available there errors out on trying to open the BIN files.  I've searched for a more recent Phoenix Tool since his post, considering his solution preceeded the most recent BIOS update, but to no avail.

Everytime my computer goes into sleep mode it does not restart. Sometimes I get a black screen, other times I get a blue screen with a data_kernel_error. Either way the only way to restart my computer is forcing a shutdown by holding the power button down and restarting. I believe it may be linked to a BIOS update that is needed....?
I have a HP Zbook 14, windows 8.1 pro and current version of BIOS is L71 Ver 01.20. The update is Ver 01.30A.

  • Oracle 9i problems in amd processor

    Hai,
I have installed oracle in my system but it occupying the whole disk space. it is showing low disk space.my system configuration is amd processor,512 mb ram,
asus mother board.please any of them solve my problem.
    Thanking you
    sudhakar.

I have installed oracle in my system What kind of system?
but it occupying the whole disk space
it is showing low disk spaceWhat about archivelog?
Or maybe you have just 3GB disk... don't know, because you didn't provide important info.
my system configuration is amd processor,512 mb ram
asus mother board. What is the purpose of this characteristic (where is the point)? I guess this has nothing to do with disk space occupation.
So if your problem is low disk space, then try:
    1. check whether your database is running in archivelog mode and whether is generate archive redo logs. If your database need to be in archivelog mode (preffered for production db) then backup your archive logs and then remove it from disk.
To check whether your database is running in archivelog mode execute from sqlplus (as sys or system):
select log_mode from v$database; To check whether (of course this is a must in archivelog mode) and where is your database generate archive logs execute from sqlplus:
    show parameters log_archive_start
show parameters log_archive_dest2. check sizes of bdump, cdump and udump directory and delete unecessary trace files, or coredumps. (oc course there might be large alert log file)
To show location of bdump, cdump and udump directories execute fro sqlplus:
show parameters dump_destPlease, be more specific and write important information in your future posts.

  • Speed of processor is being limited by system firmware after BIOS update

    Hello,
I have updated the BIOS of my G510 to the latest version, which is 3.09. But after this update, I have noticed "The speed of processor is being limited by system firmware" entries at the Windows System event log. They are like that:
"The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 5 seconds since the last report."
I'm getting this message for all the cores, from 0 to 3.
Why is this happening? And what can I do, should I downgrade the BIOS to the previous version?
    Thanks

    Hello pka4916,
You’re having a problem with the speed of your processor.
    Do a hard reset.
    Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.
This should reset the hardware in the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
    Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.
If the problem is still not fixed Try to roll back you BIOS to a version that was working correctly.
Here is a link that will walk you through the steps.
Let me know how everything goes.
    Have a good day.
