HP Office Jet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one Printer - N9911g won't connect to the internet

I've been trying to set this up for 2 days.  I have the software on my computer and connected to my printer, however, my printer isn't getting a connection to the internet. I've tried everything I know. Also, the software on my computer says that the security certificate isn't safe so I installed it and it still doesn't like it.

emarieh,
Your router could most definitely be the cause. You will have to contact your router company and have them open up specific ports on the router. Please take a look here to learn a little more on Security Information and Firewalls.
I found this helpful information from fellow Community Member VisionAiry, please see below:
Incoming ports (UDP) are destination ports on the computer while outgoing ports (TCP) are destination ports on the HP printer.
• Incoming (UDP) ports: 137, 138, 161, 427
• Outgoing (TCP) ports: 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500
The ports are used for the following functions:
Printing
UDP ports: 427, 137, 161
TCP port: 9100
Photo card upload
UDP ports: 137, 138, 427
TCP port: 139
Scanning
UDP port: 427
TCP ports: 9220, 9500
HP device status
UDP port: 161
Faxing
UDP port: 427
TCP port: 9220
HP device installation
UDP port: 427
Web Services Ports
UDP and TCP: 80, 443, 5222, and 5223
Bonjour Ports
UDP and TCP: 5353, 5297, and 5298
You will need to contact your router manufacturer and have them unblock these ports, let me know if this helps.
Thank you again,

  • I am unable to scan using the hp office jet pro 8500 wireless all in one printer from an I-MAC

I have a new I-MAC OS Lion computer and an older HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless all-in-one printer, scanner, fax, photo.  I cannot scan, though I can print and I can fax.  The error message says I must be connected to the network, and yet I am connected.  The only diagnostic tool available is for MS systems only.  Help???

    Hi,
Make sure to use any scan method available for Lion.
If you have the HP Scan application installed, be aware that the used software version is not intended for Lion.
Please follow the steps below to find what scan methods may be used on the OS:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01910186&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3752459
If there is still any problem while trying to scan, also make sure to install the latest HP Printer Driver 2.9 by clicking the Apple icon and then Software Update.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a printer assistant

    Hi!
So, I replaced an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Plus with an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911. Subsequently the HP Printer Assistant desktop shortcut disappeared from my computer --  and apparently from the computer entirely because it eludes searches as well. So multiple times (like, 20 times) I have removed and reinstalled the printer on this computer because sometimes -- not every time, infuriatingly -- immediately after installing the printer from the online driver, the Printer Assistant opens -- but there doesn't appear to be a way create a desktop shortcut for it. As soon as I close it, it's gone forever, and it's just not practical to have the Printer Assistant open all the time. The next time I want to scan something wirelessly, I have to go through the process again. It's driving me insane.
Is there any way to download just the HP printer assistant software, or some sneaky way to create a shortcut for it? It's the only efficient way for me to interact with the printer for scanning (the bulk of the printer's usefulness) at my home office, and if I cannot get it to work consistently, this will be the last HP product I buy.
    Thanks in advance!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a: Scan & Copy in color results in full cyan page

Product Name: HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
    OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
I noticed the problem: After I scanned a medical card that was 80% cyan.
Problem: The problem persists when scanning/copying using the ADF or using the scanner glass bed.
Only occurs during color scanning or copying.  I can print a file from my laptop or home pc with no issues, as long as the color file did NOT come from my printer.
If I had scanned the small O'Riley's note in black & white there would have been no streaking.
I have reset, used the HPP Dr., cleaned the glass, etc, & followed Solutions 1 - 3 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c02881567&lc=en&product=4323659&tmp...
    I sincerely appreciate your assistance.

    Hi @Veritasabt,
I see that you are having issues scanning and copying in color from the glass and the ADF. Thank you for providing the screen shot. I can help you out today.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Update the printer's firmware. HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a Firmware.
Try scanning again to see if you have the same results.
Please check your private messages for additional steps to try.

  • Cant WiFi connect HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer to internet

I cant WiFi connect HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer to internet... at least I think that is the problem. I have followed all the instructions on HP Print and Scan Doctor as well as Troubleshoot HP Installation Failure. My router is running fine for everything else and I have entered the static address for the printer into the router.  It appears that my printer believes it is connected to my WiFi (Ihave WPS it multiple times), but when I type it's IP address into my IE nothing shows up. My router doesn't appear to see the printer either. I have the latest driver installed on my computer. I suspect this may be a router issue: new router Asus Double 450 Mbps  N Router (Dual band - but it appears my router is using the 2.4Hz band to communicate with WPS). Windows 7 64.
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hello NRHII,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to connect the Officejet 8600 over a wireless connection. I will do my best to assist you! I would recommend power cycling the router, printer and computer:
    1) Turn off your printer
    2) Disconnect the power cord from the back of the router
    3) Restart your computer
    4) Wait less than 60 seconds, plug the power cord back into the router
    5) Turn your printer back on, wait for the computer to turn on
Is the wireless light blinking on your printer? If so, please reconnect the wireless on your printer by using the wireless setup wizard: (This information is stated here.)
On the printer touch screen, touch the Right Arrow ( ) to display the second navigation screen.
Touch the Setup icon ( ).
Touch Network , touch Wireless Setup Wizard , and then touch Continue . The printer searches for available networks.
Touch the name of your network, and then touch OK .
If prompted, enter the network password, and then touch OK . The printer connects to the network.
Also, as I was typing this post TreeFrog posted some great information to follow.
Have you followed this entire HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection? If not, follow this document. Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Since those cartridges are not suitable for my new printer, how do I return nd get refund?

You'll need to contact HP Phone Support about this. Failing that, another option would be to sell them on eBay.

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus. Will not print from the internet

    Hello all
Today my printer decided to 'throw' up a blank page ontop of the internet page I was trying to print.
I asked the printer to print from the right hand mouse button drop down menu, then, 'print'.
Then the white page pops up . You can see the internet around the edges.
The printer will print my own docs and photos.
Maybe I altered something in the settings this morning but I can't remember what I did?
Has anyone any ideas? I do hope so . Thank-You Redocean

  • Officejet pro 8600 e all in one printer N911a

For printing settings I see that there are front-to-back  or back-to-front  settings.  What is the difference? Online and hard copy instructions do not address this.  I was hoping to set the printer that on 2-sided copies the copy will emerge from the printer first (front) side up.  I tried with the same copy using both settings.  The copy always came up with second (back) side up.

    Hey syra,
If you are printing double sided or duplex printing from the Officejet 8600, then the end output will always be with the backside facing in the upward position.  This is due to the printer producing the front, then backside of the document.
The Front to Back or Back to Front works in a different way.  If you are printing a 5 page document, then the option will change the printout order as follows:
Front to Back:  Page 1 will be on the bottom of the output stack and page 5 on the top
Back to Front: Page 5 will be on the bottom of the output stack and page 1 on the top
    Hope this helps clarify,
    Jason

I have the above printer and use it wirelessly via AT&T router with Mac products. I have the most trouble with iPhones and getting "No Air Printer Found" error message if we haven't printed anything in several days. I can remedy this by turning the printer off then back on but that is a pain and I don't think I should have to. Any suggestions?

    Treesie;
    I hope you are doing well and sorry to learn that you are having this issue;
    Try this on your Ipad2 device;
Go to Settings > WiFi and touch the ">" next to your network name.
This brings up the connection details one of which is the DNS server IP address.
You have to set up a static IP address (Static Tab) for it to always use the same DNS settings, use 8.8.8.8 and as alternative 8.8.4.4
If this does not help please follow the stpes describe in this post GO HERE and click on the go to the solution button.

I would like to know if you are seeing any error messages, or if the printer is not feeding the paper through the ADF. • Product Name: HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one Printer-N911a on Windows 7 (32bit) OS.

My HP printer is about 8 months old and it has developed a display fault which is blurred or almost blank display. The characters and icons are just visible and can be seen very hardly when the panel is moved up and down for polarizing. I tried power on and off, removing the power cable and changing it to the wall power sockets as advised by HP Web support, but it didn’t solve the issue.
How to solve this fault of blurred and almost blank display? Is this hardware or software problem?

    Hi HP3S,
YOu have done exactly what I would have suggested. The issue you have described, blurred or almost blank display, is certainly a hardware issue, not software related.
I would recommend you call HP. Your printer would have a 1 year manufacture warranty so I suspect from what you have said that it is still in warranty. The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.

  • Office Jet Pro 8600 hp cannot connect wirelessly to WPA2 Enterprise encrypted network

HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Premium all in one Printer Scanner CAN NOT connect to encrypted wireless network? Specifics: Wireless network uses WPA 2 Enterprise encryption without passphrase. ( mac filtering only ) Mac address of device is already entered into the wireless router list of devices allowed to connect. Wireless wizard reports ....unable to connect due to authentication failure. alternative instalation attempts ask for passphrase which the wireless network does not use at all. Has been a big issue preventing deployment of mobile wireless scanning and printing throughout the facility. WPA2 is clearly listed as supported wireless protocol. Please help. Several weeks of struggle with India did not resolve the issue. Thank You.

If your router supports dual band broadcasting 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz, log into your router and look at the two wireless profile names. The names (SSID) should be changed so that they are different from each other for each band 5 and 2.4. Also if the SSID is the default SSID that ships with the router, change it to a unique name as a neighbor within range may have the same SSID. Rename to "my unique SSID" and connect the printer to the new network name "my unique SSID" as example. If you need further assistance, list the exact model of your router
