HP Office Jet Pro 8610 won't scan to imac system 10.10.1

I can get the printer to scan from my computer, but not post it on the desktop. It say the function is disabled and contact set up person or administrator. My son set it up and is not available. I will be the administrator. How do I enable the function.  Hp Officejet pro 8610. I'm on a IMAC operating system 10.10.1

Hello @Annpaints,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are unable to scan with your Mac running the Yosemite 10.10 Operating system to your HP Officejet Pro 8610, when you attempt to scan to the Mac you are given the error that it needs to be enabled. Please go ahead and start below:
Click the Finder tab, and then click Go.
Click the Utilities tab, and then click the HP Utilities icon.
Click Scan Settings, and then select the Enable Scan to Computer box.
Are you now able to Scan to the Mac? I was able to find this helpful information here: Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite
Please let me know the outcome.

  • Hp office jet pro 8600 won't scan

Wirelessly connected office jet pro 8600 won't scan in windows. I've checked to make sure proper services are running and they are. Started running diagnostics utility and the driver didn't check out but I have the correct one installed and the printer works just fine. Occasionally a message pops up and says that the computer has lost connection with the scanner. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi GradyIV,
I can help you scan from your Officejet 8600 to your Windows operating system. It sounds like you have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, is this whee you say the driver error?
I suggest using the following steps to delete the printer from device and printers, and the driver from the server properties.
    1. In the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder
    2. Choose ‘Print server properties’.
Win XP – With no printer selected, click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows Vista – With no printer selected, press ‘Alt’ then click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows 7/8 and 8.1 – Select any printer in the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder and click ‘Print Server properties’ above.
    3. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab at the top of ‘Print server properties’ window
    4. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click ‘Remove’
    5. Choose 'Remove driver only'
    6. The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click ‘Yes’ to say that you are sure you want to do this.
If documents are stuck in the print spooler, you may see an error, cancel any documents pending in the print queue, or try restarting the print spooler, then try to remove the driver from ‘Print server properties’ again. If it still won’t remove the package, restarting the computer and the printer should resolve this ‘in use’ error and allow the driver to be removed.
After the driver is removed, open Start > All Programs > HP folder > Printer folder > HP Setup and Software (or the printer icon).
The Setup and software screen will open and you can click on Connect a new printer.
If the issue persists let me know and I will do what I can to help.

New HP Office Jet Pro 8610 worked for 1 day after installation. Printed & Scanned OK both sided. Did not connect for Fax as don't use it. After printing a couple of documents & scanning some from the Lenovo think Pad Laptop the 8610 has suddenly always  defaulted to the fax send page when asked to print any document. Still scans perfectly. I can print the same documents by emailing them to my IPhone then requesting print. Why won't it print docs from the laptop??? What can I do to overcome the problem as its slow to have to go thru the phone. (I'm 89 years old) Please help.     2Wood.

  • Does HP Office Jet Pro 8610 Support Adobe .PDF Files?

    Greetings,
I'm thinking of upgrading from an HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m All-In-One to an HP Office Jet Pro 8610 All-in-One.
I was able to create and use .pdf files on the C309g-m.  I have Adobe Reader on my computer.  Will I be able to do the same on the 8610?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Looks like you are talking about scanning to PDF.  Yes the 8610 can scan documents as PDF files. My suggestion: spend a bit more for a 8620 or 8630. Please check the following brochure, you will see why my recommendation is a 8620 or 8630.

    Hi,
The same driver as provided for any Windows OS as Windows 7 or 8 should be used, the installation however should be launch via the command line and not as a standard installation.
Follow these steps to install the printer software on a server:

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8610 will not print but will only fax

We have a HP Office Pro Jet 8610 and it worked fine until we hooked it up as a fax machine also on Thursday.
It used to copy, print, scan perfectly but we need a new fax machine so we went out and bought the phone cord and hooked up a fax line and telephone with built in answering to the Office Jet and the fax works , but now it will not print a document from Open Office to the printer because it tries to make a fax cover page.
I have run out of ideas can you please help?

There are two "printer" drivers on there, to print, choose the "Officejet Pro 8610 Printer" instead of the "Officejet Pro 8610 FAX". You probably set the second one as default when the fax function is added, which is for PC fax. If you use the print function more often than fax, make the non-fax one the default printer.

  • Officejet pro 8610 won't scan in color

I'm using a Mac OS 10.6.8 and just connected my new HP Officejet Pro 8610.  It is only scanning in black and white.  I do not see a place to select for color (when you select copy you have that choice but not on scan).  It prints in color and makes color copies just fine.  I also cannot see a place where I can tell it which folder on the computer to save scans to.  Can you help me?

    Hi @just1me ,
I'd like to help you be able to scan in color.
Did you download and install the Full Feature Software or run the Apple Updates?
Here is a document for Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.
Try the Apple Software to see if you have the same results.
Here is a screen shot for where to change the color settings, scanning with the HP Scan Software.
After clicking scan, click on the drop down to get more options.
After showing the preview you can select the Edit icon at the bottom for more features.
To save the scan, select the Send Icon.
    Hope this helps.

  • My new HP Office Jet pro 8600 won't connect to my wireless Airport

I try and set up my new Office jet to my wireless and I get the message:  More than one access point/wireless router has been found that matches your wireless network name.  I only have one router and it is an Apple Airport Extreme.  I've tried doing throught he network wizard and tried doing it through the installation on the computer with it directly connected to the computer.  I called HP and was on the phone for an hour and all they could come up with was that the Airport had 5 GHz and so it will sense two routers.  Huh????  What can I do?  I don't want a new router since I just got that one.

If your router supports dual band broadcasting 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz, log into your router and look at the two wireless profile names. The names (SSID) should be changed so that they are different from each other for each band 5 and 2.4. Also if the SSID is the default SSID that ships with the router, change it to a unique name as a neighbor within range may have the same SSID. Rename to "my unique SSID" and connect the printer to the new network name "my unique SSID" as example. If you need further assistance, list the exact model of your router

  • Getting MAC OS10.10.1 to communicate with Office Jet Pro 8610

My printer works fine in the internet and copy modes.  It automatically downloads upgrades. When I first set it up, everything worked fine, both in harwire version and wireless.   Then for some reason it quit  working, as I was getting a "printer is not connected" message on the print screen.  I then threw all HP divers into the trash and reinstalled frm the HP site the latest driver.  Same result.  I then tried to deinstall, but when I opened the HP folder, there was no "deinstall" . Could you please tell me how to correct this, as Ihave now had the printer a couple of months, without being abl to use it. Regards,  Ron

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your time here! I'd like to help you with the communication issues you are having between your HP Officejet Pro 8610 and your Mac running OS X 10.10. I am assuming you are attempting to connect wirelessly, since you mentioned that the internet functions on your printer are already working fine. Please feel free to correct me if this is not the case. The easiest way to confirm that both the mac and printer are properly connected to your network is to see if you can access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS). On the home screen of the printer touch the Wireless icon.Make a note of your IP address. On your Mac open the Safari browser.Type the IP address (ex.10.0.0.9) into the address bar and press Enter.Does your printer's page come up?You can also try doing a network power reset to refresh the network connection for both devices. Let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router.), then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer. After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid. Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection. More troubleshooting steps, if you can access the printer's EWS, but unable to add to your Printers and Scanners can be found here: HP Printers - 'Printer Offline' or 'Printer Not Responding' Message (OS X) Please respond to let me know if this helped to resolve your issue.

  • Hp office jet pro 8610 fail to work after purchase of 38 days

After 38 days of purchasing the item- the printer screen lights up - all lights of commands started to blink- then the screen had a message with a symbol of the power button and a code B888F342 - after which the screen blacked off. after a while - lines - black and white appeared on the screen and the product never worked/function/responded or anything. kindly advice.after 38 days of purchase which the warranty was only 30 days by Pricemart - the number of days of usage of the pirnter was 10 days. I cannot get a refund - so i would like some technical advice please. Unsatisfied Customer, Johnny John

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I understand your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer is not functioning from start up.  I would like to help.   It's not optimal that your retail warranty's expired, but I would like to point out that all HP hardware's covered automatically with a one year warranty.  (Source) If you'd like to pursue servicing or replacement options I recommend you reach out to our tech support team. You can click on the following link to initiate a case: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Once you fill out the online form to create your case you can choose from different direct contact methods (phone, chat, email). I do have some basic troubleshooting steps you can try in the meantime:  Are you getting any sort of menu functionality, or is the printer stuck on the load screen when you power it on?  If you can get to the point where it's possible to interact with its menu, I would recommend restoring the printer to factory defaults*.  Here's how:  *Note that completing this step will reset your printer's wireless configuration, ePrint address, and other customized printer settings. If you have created a custom @hpeprint.com address it will be permanently erased. For more information on custom ePrint addresses, click here.   Touch the Setup/Wrench iconTouch the Tools iconTouch Restore Factory DefaultsEither way, although it's not essential, have you tried plugging the printer in directly to a wall socket?  The power reset is the sole step you can try if there's no menu functionality.  Beyond this if you can't access the menus and you're stuck in the same error state, I recommend you reach out to our tech support team (as noted above).   Let me know how it works out for you.  If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution. Best of luck,
