HP OfficeJet 2544 Windows 8.1 Printing Issue

Hi there,
I am having a frustrating problem with my HP OfficeJet 2544.  It happens all the time if I want to print anything more than one or two pages, and it only happens to me on my Desktop PC (i.e. my wife's laptop doesn't experience the issue).
What is happening is this:  I send a document (multiple pages) to the printer, and then after the first page or so, I get a Windows 8 error message popping up saying the document couldn't print.  The printer then spits out whichever page it is currently printing, usually half printed.  If I want to print a multi page document, I have to print it one page at a time.  I can't even send it to the printer in groups of 2 or 3 pages!
The printer is connected wirelessly, but I don't think it is a wireless issue.  We have good strong signal in our house, and in any case, if it was a wireless connection issue my wife would have the same issue, which she does not.
I thought there was some bug in my Windows 8.1 installation, so I did a clean reinstall.  This did not fix the issue.  I have also tried reinstalling the drivers (did not work either) and clearing out the Print Spooler folder (again, no luck).
The only thing I can think of is that a while back the HP Update program said there was a Firmware update for the printer, which I installed.  But if this was the problem, I imagine it would be affecting my wife's Laptop too?
I am getting fed up with the issue, and as I am doing a part-time degree I have to print multi-page documents from time to time!  Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello @SamuelH82
I have some ideas that come to mind when I read through your post about the printing issues you have solely from your computer, as the other computer works find with the printer.
The printer hardware proves to test out alright, as the other computer does function fine with it.
I would suggest first running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. This alone could help fix the problem.
Also, try printing from other programs. Do they all appear to have the same problem?
Disable any firewalls and anti-virus' temporarily. Try printing again to see if that helped.
How far is the printer from your computer, and what are in between them that could cause interference? Having the computer and printer too close could cause disconnections.
Let me know the results thus far and your findings.
Enjoy the rest of your day

  • HP Officejet 6500 (E709n) wireless mobile printing issues using Wi-Fi...

    I have an HP Officejet 6500 (E709n series) that I can no longer print from my Android based device. I have the latest drivers installed on my Win-7 64 bit Premium edition and have flashed the most current firmware available on HP's site. There was a time not long ago where I downloaded and installed an HP app from the Android Market which allowed my mobile device to print to my wi-fi enabled and configured HP 6500. My phone crashed so I had to re-download and install apps. It seems HP ePrint Home&Biz app is the only option here and from what I've read, this app is not compatible with hP ePrint. Am I missing something or is this completely lame to discontinue support for a printer hardly a year old?
    This question was solved.

    Hello JayyTeee,
    I do apologize for the issue you are having.
    It sounds as though you are printing wirelessly from your Android phone on the same network as the printer.
    This is actually different from ePrint.
    The Home & Biz app is designed primarily to print on the same wireless network.
    If the app is not finding the printer, I would make sure the phone and printer are on the same network.
    If they are on the same network, then I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the Home & Biz app from the Android Market.

    Hello there! Welcome to the forums @MBG1993
    I read about the issue you're having with your Deskjet 2540 showing it's "offline", on your Windows 8.1 system.
    I would like to suggest this guide to use for troubleshooting: 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Will Not Print: Windows 8

  • HP OfficeJet J4580 All-in-one printing issue

    Dear Sir or Madam,
    Two years ago I purchased this all-in-one deskjet and for the first year it operated perfectly, both over usb and connected to my Airport wireless router. For the last year, however, I have been unable to get it to print correctly. Although it does print, the page misses multiple lines of printing. What I mean is that, for example, the bottom or top half of an entire line of words will not print, and the problem reoccurs multiple times on the page. It does not appear to occur regularly, and seems to be caused by the the black cartridge only.
    Because the printer is no longer under warranty I have attempted to troubleshoot the problem myself. I have replaced both print cartridges with new HP branded media. I have run the clear cartridges utility and have cleaned the cartridge carriage contacts/ cartridge contacts using a Q-Tip with distilled water. I have also removed the black cartridge for two hours and turned it upside down as recommended. The problem does not occur in the copy or fax function - but does occur with wireless and usb-connected printing. The test page prints correctly.

    First solution is to do a partial reset.

    If this doesn't bring the solution!
    perform a re-install of the printer.
    if this doesn't help - you could do a re-install with an alterantive  driver , of the 990C.
    ( this driver is standard available in windows software!)
    add printer and use/pick the driver of the 990C.

    Hello there Lawrence, Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience
    I noticed your post about the troubles you are running into when you attempt to install your OJ 6100 printer on your Windows 8.1 laptop. I read all of your attempts and seen you have tried several methods to try and get the installation to complete successfully.
    I would like to make some suggestions that may help. Let me know how it goes!
    1. Check that Internet Explorer pop-up blockers are turned off before downloading the installer
    Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker: How do I turn off Pop-up Blocker?
    Try to install
    2. If you're running McAfee Live Safe or any other firewall, please temporarily disable the "real time scanning".
    How to disable realtime scans
    Try the install
    3. Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder.
    Click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.
    Try the install

  • HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer - G510g installation windows 8.1 64bit

    After operating a HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer - G510g  from both an old Windows XP notebook and from an ASUS Windows 8, 64bit laptop, subsequently updated to 8.1; I'm now trying to install it to run from a Toshiba Satellite NB10T-A notebook Windows 8.1 64bit, but without success.
    The original installation CD does not provide an installation but on start up (presumably because it is only compatible with Windows XP and 7.
    The www.hp.com site offers a download of a full driver for the  printer, forWindows 8.162bit. This seems to download fine. The file unpacks, says it is installing, but on completion the driver is not available.
    There are no options to uninstall, either in control panel/printers or in control panel/software.
    Without the driver, the Windows 8.1 system recognises the printer and allows simple printing ffrom applications. However, it is not possible to use the scan options, giving the error message that the driver is not available. Neither HP Solution Center or HP Document Manager are installed.
    I have tried HP Print and Scan Doctor. This recognises the printer on USB link, says that there are missing drivers, downloads, unpacks and installs drivers. But the printer icon in control panel/printers continues to have an alarm icon and indicates that the printer is still missing drivers.
    I have also tried the HP Printer Installation Wizard. The result is similar.
    Please advise how I can install the scan options of this equipment and confirm that the machine is compatible with windows 8.1 64bit.
    Thank you

    Hello @monc , welcome to the HP forums!
    I read through your post about how you cannot scan on your Windows 8.1 computer as the driver and software doesn't seem to be completing successfully on your system. However, you have been able to install the printer and its functioning fine on other computers.
    I would suggest checking the Control Panel to see if there are any printer files to uninstall: Uninstalling the Printer Software
    Restart the PC afterwards
    Perform a Clean Boot
    Restart the PC again
    Download and install the printer again:  HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver
    If you see any error messages or codes during the installation process, make note of the exact problem or error and post me back a screen shot or the details.
    Good luck

  • HP Officejet 4500 Wireless Printing Issues with Online Maps & Financial Institutions

    I have an HP Officejet 4500 Wireless printer that I have wireless connection to my HP G72 Laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) with Internet Explorer 9.  I am having trouble printing online maps from either Bing Maps or Google Maps.  It seems the print jobs get stuck in the print que and always show an indefinite status of “Printing” in the que but never get printed.
    I’ve tested my other applications including Office 2010 and all other jobs seem to print just fine.  I do use the “Print” button located in each of the online Map sites (Bing, Google).  This is when the jobs get stuck.
    I do also have the HP Bing Bar installed with Smart Print.  The Smart Print feature seems to work with the online maps just fine (seems I’ll just use it instead).
    Another separate printing issue is that I can never get any of my online financial transactions to print from any of my online financial institutions with either the Internet 9 print features or the HP Bing Smart Print feature.  I can never get those to print (have to wait for the PDF statements to be available).
    Any ideas as to why I can print the maps or online financial transaction?  I get no error messages either.

  • Print issue with Photoshop CS4 and Officejet 6500

    I have a Windows 7 Business 64 bits desktop computer. After  installing the Officejet Pro 6500 multifunctional drivers all was  working OK. Images were being printed nice and with the correct size  using Windows print option. After installing Adobe CS4 suite, all images  printed from windows or Photoshop have incorrect size (photoshop prints  it smaller, about 33%, and on upper left corner of the sheet).
    Photoshop sucks but Illustrator print fine. The only way I can print  at the good size in Photoshop, it's when I select Microsoft XPS  document writer as printer and print from there... Not very user friendly !!!
    And  yes, it was always the HP Officejet 6500 E709n fax selected by default  by Photoshop instead of  HP Officejet 6500 E709n !
    Is anybody can say if it's an HP issue or an Adobe issue ??? Why Illustrator print fine and Photoshop don't ???
    Thank's  in advance.

    Deleting the fax printer  associated with this device to allows correct printing is not an  acceptable alternative for me.
    If it is a printer issue, why I can print correctly from Illustrator ???
    dec9 wrote:
     Or: you can go into windows and select a default printer or then the one you use to print with in PS. Then when you are ready to print in PS select the printer. See if that works.
    That's my normal configuration then I can't change nothing when all is ok.
    Thank you very much for your answer ! Maybe anybody have an other solution or explanation.
    Thank's for your patience.

    Windows 8.1: Printer Offline Issue
    If you have seen issues where your laptops/tablets has been taken from a private (home) network to a public network  and then not been able to print when returning back to your private (home) network.  This is most likely due to the public network settings not being reset back to the private (home) network settings.  If this sounds like an issue you are having- try resetting your network settings by following the steps in the documents linked here:

    Hello All,
    The printer goes offline due to proper driver is not installed correctly or if the printer port is not selected correctly.
    I would suggest that you check the printer port (if the printer is connected via USB then chck if you have selected USB001,002... OR DOT), if the printer is connected via Network then check if the printer is selected via TCP/IP and then check the results.
    Alternatively, you may uninstall and reinstall the driver and then check the results.

  • Window HTML Printing Issue

    Hi,
    I'm opening a new window in adobe air, which has a html page
    that needs to be printed out. The code I use for printing is below.
    function doprint()
    var pjob = new window.runtime.flash.printing.PrintJob;
    if ( pjob.start() )
    var poptions = new
    window.runtime.flash.printing.PrintJobOptions;
    poptions.printAsBitmap = false;
    try
    pjob.addPage(window.htmlLoader, null, poptions);
    pjob.send();
    catch (err)
    alert("An error occurred when trying to print report");
    else
    alert("Printing of this report was cancelled");
    The issue I seem to have is that the print out is completely
    anti aliased, so the text seems really blurred that it's hard to
    read the information when printed. I have set print as bitmap
    option to false so that it prints in vector, but I still get the
    same issue. Is there a way of resolving this. I think it may also
    be down to webkit's anti-aliasing the html before print. Hope some
    one on the forum can help me with this issue.
    Cheers
    Prad

    Hi Prad,
    Sorry this is just the way things are , I trying to do
    exactly the same thing as you but I get the same results as you and
    have hot found a workaround yet.
    I find it totally incredible that Adobe of all organisations
    could ship a product that cannot print properly. If Air wants to
    become a credible desktop application environment then core
    functionality such as printing should be available. All other
    Webkit based apps such as Safari seem to be able to print so I'm
    not sure what Adobes reasons are for breaking printing so badly,
    hopefully in the next relase of Air they would have fixed it.
    Adam.

  • Yet another Windows Printing Issue

    I've searched the net and these forums all afternoon trying to resolve my printing issues. I've followed all the common links posted by people who are tired of explaining the solutions to no avail. I do have the Gutenprint 5.1.3 driver installed. It doesn't list the 2100TN, but lists the 2100.
    Gear:
    Windows 2003 Server
    HP LaserJet 2100TN Printer attached shared through Win2k computer on the local network.
    PowerBook G4 (wireless)
    I've been successful printing in the past with this equipment. I'm not sure what happened, except I do remember resetting the print services on my Mac a while ago. That wiped out all my printers. That must have been because I lost print capabilities to the LaserJet.
    Any help is appreciated. This is a work environment and I need to print with my Mac fonts.

    Greg
    Thank you for trying to help. The work environment is a Windows 2003 Server, about 10 Windows 2k computers on a single domain. The HP printer is connected via the printer port on a Reception desk computer and shared as 2100TN. Let's call this computer Shubunkin. Shubunkin shares the printer to all on the network, including (hopefully) my Powerbook G4, which is connected via a wireless router. The G4 accesses the network folders via Samba - smb. The IP address of Shubunkin is in the same subnet as the other computers.
    Long story short, I have spent many hours trying to figure this out on multiple occasions. The last time I was connected was by a $100/hr tech that helped sort out some networking issues we were having after a move. At the end of the day, I asked him if he could take a look at my Mac and get the printer working. It took all of 10 min., but I'm not even sure he knew how he did it. He's a Windows tech. I do remember the printer showing up somewhere in the printer browser (AppleTalk maybe) on my Mac and choosing it. It was late and back last October.
    I want to be concise; I'm just not sure what information you all need to help. I do appreciate any efforts!!
