    Hi @salsan,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are having a problem with downloading the driver for your HP Officejet 4500 printer on Windows XP. I am happy to look into this issue for you!
When you finish the download, it should show how big the file size is. Does it show that the file is 224.69M after it is finished downloadng? Perhaps, it is stopping the download before it finishes. I would recommend trying another browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome.
What version of Windows XP are you are using? If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos. Is it 32-bit or 64-bit? Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Thank you for posting, and hope to hear from you soon!

  • Problem Installing HP Officejet J4580 Full Feature Software and Driver

    Hallo !
I recently installed a new 2T harddrive and performed a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my e-Machine Model ET-1331-g-05w. The clean install of Windows 7, installation of the e-Machine drivers, und 325+ Microsoft  Updates was successful. The System is running fine and protected by Kaspersky 2015 Internet Security. Please note this WAS NOT an OS upgrade from Vista to Win7 - just a clean-install of the original Win7 64-bit OS.
After creating an ISO and Full Backup(nothing else has been installed at this point) I wan't to re-install my HP Officejet J4580 All-in-one. I have the original CD but I know that it can only be used on an XP or Vista OS - so I went to the www3.hp.Offical  HP Drivers and Support downloaded the Product Installation Software for:
HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver
    File: OJJ4500_FULL_13.exe
    Released: 2014-09-03
    Version: 13.0.0
My printer wasn't connected via USB - the install ran for about 30 and when I asked to connect the USB cable the splash screen told me it was finishing the install but then it failed with a message unable to located J4580 Drivers. The install that place the Solution Center, HP Document Manager, and HP Photosmart ICON's on my Desktop - when I opened the Solution Center - it said that it couldn't communicate to the printer. The printer and USB cable work fine on my Vista Desktop, my Vista Business Notbook. and my IBM X40 running WP SP3.
    I've also tried running:
    1) HP Update Software Utility - hpsetup.exe
    2) Hp Print and Scan Doctor - HPPSdr.exe
    3) HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility - OJJ4500_Scrubber_13.exe
but the 2nd attempt to re-install failed too.
I then reloaded my clean ISO - and tried the Product Installation Software for the Basic Drivers
HP Officejet Basic Print and Scan Driver
    File: OJJ4500_Basic_13.exe
    Released: 2014-09-03
    Version: 13.0.0
The Basic Drivers worked fine -but I need the Full Driver. I double checked and the WIN 7 64-bit is shown as a supported OS for the Full Driver - any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile installing  XP virtual machine and installing the Full Drivers in VM. If I go that route - it creates other issues such as sync'n file from 64-bit to VM, then switching back & forth between VM to process other work,  and then the issue of having to scan in VM then sync the folder to 64-bit side.

    Hello @Tom_Ma,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with installing your HP Officejet J4580 All-in-One Printer on your Windows 7 computer. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps you have already attempted and your Operating System details in your post. At this point I am going to run you through some additional troubleshooting steps to get this Officejet successfully installed with the Full Feature driver. Please follow the steps below.
    Step 1: Uninstall Drivers:
It is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with for troubleshooting. Therefore, I am going to have you uninstall the existing software on your computer.
    Click on your Start menu
    Select All Programs
    Select the HP folder
    Select your HP Officejet
    Select Uninstall
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the uninstall of your printer. Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Clear Temp Files:
    Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin
Step 3: Unlock System Administrator Account:
There is the potential that there is something within your User Account that may be blocking the drivers from installing properly. Therefore, I am going to have you unlock the hidden System Administrator Account and install your device under there. Then, when you log back into your normal User Account the printer and all Full Feature software should be installed and functional for you. If all goes well, we we 'hide' the System Administrator Account once troubleshooting is complete.
Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD
CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter
Next, close CMD and restart your computer
When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it.
If your computer automatically logs into your account after restart than go to your start menu click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator account we just unlocked
Under the Administrator account download and install the drivers: HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver
Please follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation of your printer
Once the installation is complete, please test printing and scanning to confirm that everything is now working properly.
If everything installs fine, log out of this account and back into your normal User Account. All the Software and Drivers for your product should show installed now on your account.
Under your User Account please test printing and scanning again to confirm that everything is still working.
If everything works fine, you will want to Hide the Administrator account.
Step 4: Hide System Administrator Account:
Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD
CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:no and hit enter
Next, close CMD and restart your computer
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • HP Officejet 4500 Ethernet / Wifi Driver Problem (blank fields) with Office 2013

    Hi,
I have an Officejet 4500 (Ethernet) and I have exactly the same problem as lots and lots of HP Printer owners!
Everytime I try to print on Office 2013 + Win 8 64-bit, the Printer window comes with strange "Asiatic" symbols, and not the original language (Portuguese or English, I tried both). (Note: my father has exactly the same printer I have and he already had some problems also on Win 7 + Office 2010, then I deleted all HP drivers, installed again and it solved the problem)
I already tried the menus you people talk about but in my model I do not have such options. I already installed everything again and again...and always the same problem! With another printer from another company I have no problems with the drivers on Office, so it must be from HP Drivers that do not get along with Office 2013!!! Please update them as soon as possible...

    Hello DaveZiffer,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue since the installation of the Office program.
Here is a link that will take you to the 4 updates that are available for your printer.
After doing the updates, if you are still having issues, please feel free to write me back and I will be happy to research this issue further.
    Thanks for your time.

  • MZen Micro Software and Driver Issue

I'm operating with the following and have not been able to link to Creative site or computer for several years, just able to play existing songs.
    - Zen Micro V.0.03
    - Vista 6.0 Build 6002 Service Pack 2? 32 bit
    - Windows Media Player .0.6002.83
If anyone can help me with which drivers and SW that I need to upgrade to it would be appreciate. I fear I may have to upgrade initially on an XP system and then again on Vista. If someone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

(Re: MZen Micro Software and Driver IssuesHere's what is stated in the firmware details. ?
    IMPORTANT:
Be sure to back up all the audio and data files on your Zen Micro before installing this firmware update as all content will be lost when you install the new firmware. After installing the firmware, use Windows Media? Player 0 to restore audio and/or data files to your player.<
This firmware will currently ONLY work on Windows XP or Windows XP Professional x64.<
Installation of this firmware may take up to 5 minutes, and your device may reboot a number of times during installation.<
Software updates are required if you want to use any currently installed applications like Creative MediaSource?, Zen Media Explorer, or other track management tools with your player.<

  • Software and Driver Downloads - meaning of "Updated" vs. "Released"

I'm a little confused while visiting the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page for my laptop. It will show a driver with a new "Updated" date but the "Released" date (and version number) does not change. It makes it difficult to determine if there is a newer driver available to me. And, yes, I also run HP Support Assistant but it usually states "no new drivers" even when there is a newer (Download page version number vs. my Device Manager) driver.
So what is the meaning, in this context, of "Updated" and "Released"? The Released date is always older than the Updated date.

  • HP Full Software and Driver does not show on "Printers & Drivers" list.

I am staying at a friend's house which has an HP 7360. I downloaded the HP Full Software and Driver an attempted to make a wireless connection and it does not show on the printers and drivers list. What do I do to make it appear as a printing option?

  • Software and driver updates

My laptop has been blue screening intermittently for the last year or two. It will sometimes happen when I try to put the computer in hibernate mode or shutdown, and it is much more likely to happen when it has to install updates on shutdown or when I try to defrag. I want to find out if it's a driver problem before assuming there is some hardware malfunction, but the HP Software and Driver page isn't working for me. I have the framework downloaded and it scans, but the 3 minute process  has been going for over an hour. I know it isn't my internet that is the problem; it has to be something with my computer. How can I fix this, or is there another way for me to detect out of date software/drivers so I can at least try and find out if my drivers are the source of my occsional-but-still-often-enough-to-be-really-annoying blue screen problem?

    Hi,
Do you have the exact Blue Screen Error Message?
If the notebook restarts before you can make a note of the Blue screen then follow these instructions:
Tap F8 when you turn on the notebook. In the F8 screen select "Disable Automatic Restart on failure"
Once you disable it next time when the Blue screen comes up you'll be able to make a note of the Error..Look the error with number 0x0000... and file names at the bottom. That will help us to identify the cause of the Blue screen.
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

  • Software and Driver Installation for HP Officejet 7310 Crash on my new laptop running Windows 8.1

I am trying to load the software and drivers for my hp Officejet 7310 on my brand new Lenovo laptop which runs windows 8.1.  I had successfully loaded the software last week.  Unfortunately I lost the disk drive on my 2 week old computer. The store gave me another brand new Lenovo laptop.  On the new laptop I get errors when I try to load what I think is the same software that I loaded on the other computer a week ago.  I downloaded the software from the hp website.
The driver software download fine.   Originally it then unzipped and a nice interface came up.  I think I clicked the load button.  A message box came up saying that it could not find a certain file in appData\local\temp\7xxx...  I tried the download and install several more times.  I think I then did windows updates and registered my version of office.  I was thinking that with the other computer I must have had the computer in a different state such that the drivers and software installed without a hitch.
Things seem to have gotten worse.  I do not get as far.  It still downloads fine but now after unzipping rather than the nice interface with the "load" button I get the a message box.
The latest error is in a message box with the heading "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library".  The error says that Program:c:\users\...\appData\local\temp\7zS4237\setup.exe  This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
I was able to connect the printer through the "add Printers" and am not actually too worried about having the whole "HP Solution" with the scanning interface.  I am worried that this error will cause me problems in the future with other things.  Thanks in advance for any help.
I saw similar issuesdiscussed on the web and have tried several things.  I really do not want to reload the OS and start again.  We have barely used the system and I have no idea how this problem occurred and so I would not know how to prevent it from happening again.  I did stop and start the print service.  I was tempted to "totally unload the hp print drivers" but the file names in the posted instructions did not exactly match my files.  Another post mentioned making sure that I had the latest version of Adobe Flash Player loaded.  I went to the adobe site and it said that it is part of windows 8.1's internet explorer.  I ran the test and it seemed to work.
Could the HP installation failure have corrupted my version of Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Karen_M2,
    Thank you for your response!
The HP software does require the C ++ run-time libraries in order to install correctly. Please see this guide, Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error May Display When Installing Certain Printers.
Here are the differences between the four types of uninstall:
    1
Removes the Windows device discovery (Plug and Play) entries from the Windows registry. After running level 1, connect the USB cable to the all-in-one and let Windows try to discover the device again.
    2
Performs Level 1 and removes the software drivers. After running level 2, run the all-in-one installer and use the "Add a new device" option to attempt to reinstall the all-in-one again.
    3
Performs Levels 1 and 2 and removes the HP Photo and Imaging software. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 3.
    4
Performs Levels 1, 2 and 3, and removes HP Software Update. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 4.
If you have an HP computer I would not recommend the L4 uninstall as it would also uninstall any other HP software you have installed besides your printer.
Definitely continue going through the post I had provided, Re: Error message Microsoft visual c++ runtime library.
If that still does not resolve your issue, or you cannot uninstall using one of the four methods above, then try the following:
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any antivirus programs. How to Disable Antivirus in Windows 8?
Disable any firewall programs. Windows Firewall from start to finish.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 8).
Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this information helps, and have a good day!

  • OFFICEJET 4500 WIRELESS and using Windows 8, 64 x

HP ONLINE drivers extract and show a picture of the printer then have a place to click to exit. I use my disk self loading and errors. I look at the files, such as network64 and it loads and shows a picture of the printer and a place to exit also. I see it has been said, the drivers are in windows 8, I have seen the one for HP OFFICEJET J4500 series, and the HP OFFICEJET 4500 G510n-z, mine is both. I assume that the later is more relevant to mine and the first is a catch all. How do I install, the printer as there are Printer management programs, or add a printer, both do not work, but I may have used the Printer Management Program incorrectly. Is the usual windows add a printer best, and I should delete everything I can find related to this printer and start with a clean slate. Do I check the smtp in the port I created tcp/ip, as usual. I did get the printer to work once wireless, I can't even get it to work hooked up USB, wired I can, but how do I transfer it from the virtual usb port to a wireless port, or am I making this harder than it is? I have spent a month on it!!      Thanks, Carl  PS. I'm using a Beta Firefox
