HP OfficeJet 4620 - Can't scan

I am able to print wirelessly but cannot scan, it keeps saying that it can not connect - I beleive it has to do with Web Services.
I have connected to the IP of my printer in IE:
IPv4 Config: Automatic IP and DNS are selected
When I go to webscan on the Embedded Web Server I am able to direct the printer to scan from my PC but I am not able to manaully scan from the printer - I get an error saying it could not connect to the PC
I was able to fix this once in the past - there was a page on the embedded we services that showed a number of headers checked off - but one of them was not checked off. After making sure all 4 (or 5?) were checked off scanning worked from the printer.

Hello tufa4311,
Thank you for the updated information.  I appreciate it.
There are several steps that I would please like you to follow:
If the Print and Scan Doctor is still running please let it finish. If not please move onto the next step.
Please reboot your printer and computer.
Please follow all the steps in the document EXCEPT the Print and Scan Doctor.
After completing all the steps in the document EXCEPT the Print and Scan Doctor and you still are unable to scan, please run the Print and Scan Doctor.
Thank you.

  • HP Officejet 4620 won't scan to Mac with OSX 10.10

After upgrading to OSX Yosemite, I've had a series of problems with my MacBook being able to find my printer.  I've deleted the printer, reinstalled, cycled the router, updated, emptied the cache - you name it.  Now, my MacBook sees the printer for printing but won't communicate for scanning.  Help?

Hi there @BillSpohn , welcome to the HP Community,
I read your message about your scanning troubles and have a few steps in mind for you that should work. Please try these steps in order that I have posted them in. Make sure the printer will produce copies successfully before any software troubleshooting, which will test the printers hardware to ensure the printer is in good functioning order first.
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Download and install the Full Driver here: HP Officejet 4620 series Full Feature Software and Drivers
In addition, download this Apple driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X
Try scanning now and it should be functioning for you again.

  • New officejet 6600 - Can't scan or fax, printing A-ok. Using wireless.

Hi I have read and tried every thread on this topic. it is now 6 hours later and about 30 restarts, installs, re-installs and re-re installs, oh and full uninstalls, each time turing off firewall and anti-virus. Microsoft paint won't work either, but the printer shows up in the windows scan and fax, but just hangs when trying to connect. I have tried HP printer and scanner trouble shooter recognizes the printer but when scan trouble is selected hangs also on drivers. What else.. umm I tried most of the help topics here... so who is up to the challange of this one. Windows 7 machine. I  had a office jet 6700 connected last week worked great at work, so bought this 6600. I thought conflict but uninstalled all hp files and reinstalled using hp installation package. Followed thread on regestry updating, and services.msc. I read about reg edit or mechanic, have used AVG reg cleaner, but disabled it for the install.

  • HP Officejet 4620 Won't Scan on Printer Itself

My computer runs on Windows 8, and updated itself last night. Somehow my printer was disconnected from the computer, so I couldn't do anything. I reinstalled the printer, but now I cannot scan using the "scan" button on the printer itself; I now have to scan from the desktop using the printer assistant icon. How can I make it so I'm able to scan directly from the printer to the computer?

Hello @BrendaBrown , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're experiencing scanning problems.  I would like to help!
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the scan portion of the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

This is so odd, amd at a total loss at this point.

  • HP OfficeJet 7612 - Can't scan on OS X Yosemite

Hi, i am having trouble connecting a HP OfficeJet 7612 to a Macbook Air running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C109).
When searching for printers through the HP Utility setup or just by adding a printer it does not show in the list of available printers.
I can add the printer by IP address but i can only print to it. It says at the bottom of the window  "Please note: An IP connection is supported. However, only the print feature will work properly."
The printer is connected to the router via ethernet and the Macbook is connected to the router via Wifi.
    Things i have tried already:
Uninstalling the driver, printer and software with the HP Uninstaller, this includes a "Reset printing system…"
Downloading and installing the latest drivers and software from the HP website.
    Repairing Disk Permissions.
In EWS chaning the Bonjour Highest Priority Service to 9100 Printing.
Any help would be really appreicated thanks!

    Hi @JWest28
Based on what you have described, I don't feel the issue is related to the software or Mac, instead, I have a feeling the issue is related to the network.  Specifically, the Bonjour protocol or the IP setting.
    Please disable the IPv6 on from the front panel of the printer with the following instructions;
Scroll to the second screen of the home menu
    Touch Setup
    Choose Network Setup
    Touch Advanced Settings
In the IPv6 option, choose 'Off'
If the issue persists, let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router.),  then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer. After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid. Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection.
Also, make sure that your router can forward Bonjour packets, and then restart the Apple device. Follow these steps to make sure that your router can forward Bonjour packets, and then turn the Apple device off and on.
Step 1: Make sure that your router can forward Bonjour packets. Not all wireless routers support Bonjour or all of Bonjour's features. Since Bonjour is the default method for discovering printers on a network, you must first make sure that your wireless router supports Bonjour.
Check the specifications or support documentation for your router, or contact the router manufacturer, to make sure that your router supports Bonjour. It must also support forwarding Bonjour packets.
If your router supports Bonjour, continue to the next solution in this document.
If your router does not support Bonjour, contact the router manufacturer for options. Alternatively, you can work around the issue by adding the printer with the printer IP address.

  • HP Officejet 4620 won't scan to computer

I'm running windows 7. My computer is enabled and shows on the printer control panel. I have uninstalled and reinstall from the HP Disc. I start scan and it says "preparing to scan" on the display. Then it shows Scan could not complete Connection to computer has been lost or OCR app is not installed on computer. I get the same thing if I try to connect vis USB.
I did notice that I am unable to open the scan dialog box even after reinstall,
I've searched the forum and still lost. All the wireless printing and faxing works fine.
    Any suggestions??????

All of that looks fine.  Check the firmware on the printer.  It may be out dated and need updating.  If it updates, it might fix the problem.  Let me know what happens.

  • Officejet 6700 can't scan to computer

Scan to Computer suddenly stopped working (scan to USB device still works). Downloaded driver software several times; at first scan to computer would work briefly before failing, but now has stopped working altogether. Error message displayed is "scan to computer cannot be enabled" and "remedy" recommended is to install the driver software. But reinstalling the software doesn't help.

Are you able to make a copy on the Printer?
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet.  Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source.

  • How do I change the scan resolution on my HP Officejet 4620?

My printer scans images at 200 dpi but I want to change it to scan at 300 dpi to get a better quality image, but I can't figure out how to change the settings for the resolution. I have a Mac  OS X 10.8.5 Help!

Welcome to the HP Forums Roberta831,
I read your post, which indicates that you are unable to change the dpi for scanning.
I can help you with this.
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. The Airprint driver might be installed instead of the Printer's driver. (usually defaults to Airprint)
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen should show the name.
If the printer name shows Airprint then that is the Apple drivers, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
Did you download and install the Full Feature Software for 10.9?
HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers - OS X 10.9 Maverick...
What scanning software are you using?
Try scanning with the Apple Software to see if you have the same results.
How to Scan: OS X v10.9.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

  • Can an acer tablet be connected to the hp officejet 4620? and if yes how?

I am trying to connect my Acer tablet to HP officejet all in one wireless printer. Any advice on how to do this.

    Hi DQSB,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you would like to print from your Acer tablet to your Officejet 4620.
The first step is to ensure the printer is connected to your wireless network. If your printer is not on your home wireless network, you can put it on your home network using the printer's embedded web server. To do this please follow the instructions on page 200 of the Officejet 4620 User Guide, in the section titled "Set up the printer using the embedded web server (EWS)".
You didn’t mention whether your Acer tablet is running an Android operating system or a Windows operating system.  If you are using a Windows operating system on your tablet please follow the instructions in the Install the Printer Software in Windows RT or Windows 8 on a Tablet document.  To learn how to scan to your Windows 8 tablet please follow the steps in How to Scan: Windows RT or Windows 8 on a Tablet.
If you are using an Android operating system please download and install the HP ePrint Mobile app. I have included the HP ePrint Mobile App FAQ document for reference.  If you need to scan to your tablet, please download and install HP’s All-in-One Printer Remote App.  I have also included the HP All-in-One Printer Remote App FAQ document.
If you would like to send print jobs to your printer while you are away, you can also set up the ePrint feature of the printer. Now that the printer is connected to your wireless network, please follow the instructions in Getting the Printer Claim Code which will print out the web services information sheet.  Once you have that, then please follow the steps in Setting Up a Custom Email Address for ePrint to customize the printer’s ePrint email address.

Hello @LeeBee2 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having scan issues.  I would like to help!
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps

  • How to scan using HP Officejet 4620 create Microsoft Word file how add Word from computer

Unable to find option to add, install Microsoft Word ( docx) to HP Officejet 4620 Scan.   Need to scan documents to create Word docx file.  Also concerned about Word file size acceptable to email.
Dell printer AIO has option to easily add applications as Microsoft Word for scan but not found with HP.
Searched but did not find solution.  Such as simple question but takes hours and maybe a fee to find answer.

    Hi @Frederickoe8
If I understand correctly, you are trying to scan and open the scan file using Word. When you open the scan software, choose Everyday Scan, then under File Type, you can change the file format. If you select Rich Text, the saved scan can then open in Word. As for the scan size and concern with emailing the scan, make sure you do not set the dpi too high as the higher the dpi the larger the file size.
    I hope this helps.
