HP Officejet 6500 (E709n) wireless mobile printing issues using Wi-Fi...

I have an HP Officejet 6500 (E709n series) that I can no longer print from my Android based device. I have the latest drivers installed on my Win-7 64 bit Premium edition and have flashed the most current firmware available on HP's site. There was a time not long ago where I downloaded and installed an HP app from the Android Market which allowed my mobile device to print to my wi-fi enabled and configured HP 6500. My phone crashed so I had to re-download and install apps. It seems HP ePrint Home&Biz app is the only option here and from what I've read, this app is not compatible with hP ePrint. Am I missing something or is this completely lame to discontinue support for a printer hardly a year old?

Hello JayyTeee,
I do apologize for the issue you are having.
It sounds as though you are printing wirelessly from your Android phone on the same network as the printer.
This is actually different from ePrint.
The Home & Biz app is designed primarily to print on the same wireless network.
If the app is not finding the printer, I would make sure the phone and printer are on the same network.
If they are on the same network, then I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the Home & Biz app from the Android Market.

  • OfficeJet 6500 E709N Series ~ Cannot Print Wirelessly....

    TRIED EVERYTHING~
Here it goes: We have a Mac running OSx 10.5.7 and PC with Windows XP, and A Laptop with windows XP. Our Wireless Router is a Lnksis 3-G wireless.
I purchased the HPOJ-6500-e709n yesterday and have setting it up all night.  Tried this on the mac.
At first how I had everything connected.Ethernet Cable to the router, and usb to the printer. Set up went through all phases including fax. Was able to print fine. I was never prompted to disconnect the cables but directions included state you must test the wireless connection. I did and the printer did nothing. I reconnected the ethernet cable and was able to print what was in the que. However not wirelessly as I tried this several times.
Directions lead me to test firewall rules and check them. I added rules for UDP and TCP to allow all coming from the URL given in the network config page I printed from the printer. I also added the mac address to the list of allowed attached devices as I added access control as well. I tested this several times and also added the printer using the url. After I had done all this allowing all ports to connect it was able to allow me to view supply levels for ink and even print diagnostic reports wirelessly through the printer manager but cannot print documents.... WEIRD.
I loaded it each time with the correct driver and did all I can to allow it on all ports. The only thing that I can think of at this juncture is that we have a house system that apparently is running on here that I do not administrate. It really has nothing to do with it but I changed the URLs to start managing at 0.100+ as the rep wanted 1-100 to be used by there system so we are running it at 192.168. 0.101...
    What should I do?

OK, there may be something else going on, but try this:
Remove the Ethernet and USB cables
Make sure the radio is on (may not hurt to reboot the router and printer, too)
Delete and add the printer under the Default tab - the one marked with Bonjour
Reboot the computer and try to print.

  • I have an HP Officejet 6500 E709n wireless printing problem

I am using a macbook and Safari 10.6.8. When I set the HP printer to work wireless over the home modem it will work just fine for awhile. Then some days later it won't find the printer and I have go to the printer and re-enter everything to get it back online to print wireless again. I have to do this over and over. I have downloaded the lasted updates for the printer and no change. Has anyone else run into this and found any solutions. Thanks for any expertise.
    Tom

How does your printer get its IP address? If it uses DHCP, try a static address. I had symptoms similar to yours, but after giving it a static address, I've not had problems printing or scanning. I suspect that when the printer goes to sleep, it does not reconnect to the network properly. And, same as you, rebooting things works for a while. I've only just tried this today, so I don't want to say its definitively fixed, but up until now, printing/scanning would work until it went to sleep. If I'm proven wrong, I'll post again.

  • How do I correct a Windows Vista error for HP Officejet 6500 E709n wireless?

I continue to get a Windows Vista error when trying to install the printer software ...now it does print, but only the bottom half of a page..???

Dave, I would recommend completely uninstalling the printer from Programs and Features (after unplugging the USB cord if you are using one), and removing the printer from both Device Manager and Devices and Printer.
We are going to reinstall the printer from one of the downloads that HP makes available, but first I will have to know if your printer is the 6500A or the 6500. Also is your Win Vista machine running 64bit software or 32bit software?
If you can give me a complete product name and the information on your system, I will link you to the appropriate download.
    Let me know!

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709n Series wireless reads offline

I just installed the HP Officejet 6500 E709n Series on my HP Pavilion (Vista 32 bit) and I use a Linksys router. The install appeared to be successful, but I cannot print. All my other wireless devices are online and working as expected.
I get the messages the 'printer is offline' , 'document failed to print' and 'printer is disconnected'. I've run through the HP guided solutions and the only thing that it appeared that I needed to change was the port - from 'HP_192.168.1.105... Standard TCP/IP' to 'USB001 Virtual...'. According to the guide everything else was configured properly. Any guidance would much be appreciated.
    Thanks

I am having this exact same problem with our Officejet 6500 E709n. Our printer is connected to a Cradlepoint CTR500 wireless router with WPA encryption. The primary device that uses this printer is a HP Probook Windows 7 Pro 32bit laptop that is also connected wirelessly. We use Symantec Endpoint Protection for antivirus only, no firewall is installed with this Symantec product. Windows 7 Firewall is on, but I have tried shutting this off also.
The 6500 constantly either disappears from the laptop (requiring a reinstall or on occasion a reboot works) -or- sometimes the unit will print but the "HP Solution Center" does not open and says that the printer is not fully installed. On occasions where a reboot fixes it, the printer ALWAYS shows up "use printer offline" so we need to go uncheck that also. I have called HP and used the chat option 4 times now and get nowhere. Every time I am instructed to reinstall the software (on occasion I am prompted to use L2 and L3 of the uninstall utility) but it ALWAYS happens again in a few days or weeks.
I can always ping the 6500, access it with a web browser, etc. The device has a hard coded IP address. Something tells me that the HP software is searching for the printer at bootup, and removes it when it is not found. The delay the laptop experiences in connecting to the wireless network might be preventing the software from finding the printer each time, or perhaps the fact that the device hibernates or moves to another network where the printer is not present.
If there is a solution to this, PLEASE let me know. Otherwise I am more than likely going to simply replace this device as the time saved in troubleshooting this will save us money.

  • Wireless Printing to HP Officejet 6500 E709n

I reciently changed from Droid to Iphone 5.
Using droid mobil hot spot I could connect wirelessly to my computers and my printer HP Officejet 6500 E709n.
With the Iphone 5 hot spot I can connect to my computers but with the HP printed I can see the modem during the wireless set up
but when I enter the WPA Passphrase it will not connect. I get an error print out from the HP noting, MAC address filtering may be enabled on the wireless router (I Phone5) This can prevent you HP printer from connecting to the wireless network during setup. Temperoraly disable the MAC Address filtering on the wireless router then run wireless network setup to configure the printer.
Anyone have a fix to this.

With an iphone the native printing is built in. no set up per se except your iphone has to be on the home network which you connect to via your settings then click on wifi then it will search for your home network. If you see your home network ssid then click it then on connect. if it has a pass phrase it will request it, then it will connect.
When you are looking at a web page or an email on the iphone you need only click on the circular arrow. Select print and then select the wireless printer from the selections found. in my house I use an hp D410a All in one and a new Canon Pixma 3220 which is set up on my home network. I select the printer I want and it prints via air print .
You do not need an HP Printing app for the Apple iPhone. As long as you have set up the HP Printer or any wireless printer to your network the iPhone will print to it. No special drivers are necessary.
Hope that helped? if not post back.

  • Hp officejet 6500 e709n series wireless network connection issues

My HP officejet 6500 e709n series all-in-one printer was working perfectly fine the last time I used it (admittedly a couple of months ago).  Now it seems like the printer thinks it is connected to the wireless network, but the computer thinks it isn't.  I have run the wireless network test report off the printer a couple of times.  The first time it said it couldn't detect any issues.  The second time it said the only possible issue is that "MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireles router".  I have NO IDEA how to turn that off.  I also don't know why this would suddenly be an issue since the printer was working fine a couple of months ago and we haven't changed anything since then.  I have also run the network configuration page off the printer and it seems to think everything is fine.
When I run the troubleshooter off my computer (hp pavilion running Windows 7) it says "Printer hp officejet 6500 e709n series fax cannot be contacted over the network".  I am getting very frustrated.  How do I fix this problem?

What router?  What operating system?  Have you run the Wireless Setup WIzard from the Network menu on the front of the printer?  Do that.

  • IMac OSX 10.6.8 will not detect HP Officejet 6500 E709n series wireless printer

I had my iMac OS 10.6.8 unplugged for a week and just hooked it back up today and for some reason HP Officejet 6500 E709n Series wireless printer cannot be detected. I have tried everything... AppleCare could not help... they said to install the HP software off HP's site... I did but my computer will not recognize the printer in default printers. I have tried talking to HP Support and they mentioned something about DDS corruption but do not want to pay $99 for that to most likely not be the reason. I have tried calling Verizon because AppleCare said it was a network issue and then Verizon said it was a software issue.
I even tried re-installing the printer with the USB cord plugged in the back so it could at least recognize the software, but once the printer was put back in the other room, it stopped working. It now says:
    Looking for printer...
    Canceling job
    Printer offline.
There is also a yellow circle with a wavy line in the middle.
This has never happened before. When I first hooked this machine up, it just picked up the printer and there were no issues.
Sorry this is a little wordy but I am out of options on how to fix this... please help.
    Thank you.

  • Officejet 6500 e709n - slow wireless print & garbage then Bonjour works perfect - fix please!

Hello all!  My wife recently purchased a Officejet 6500 e709n so we could finally have a wifeless printer in the house. Well, we set it up fine but we quickly ran into some printing issues. It seems that when we try to wirelessly print any file larger than 300k, the data transfer hangs and causes a long wait time until the printing finishes (if it finishes). Also this causes garbled printing.
Try as I might I could not find a fix anywhere. I tried reinstalling / updating / resetting my firewall and anti-virus and nothing.
Tonight I installed Bonjour and OMG it works - no issues at all. This leads me to think that the issue is in the HP driver or settings or something. Now my question is, how do I get the regular driver to work?!
She runs a Gateway Netbook (windows 7 Starter) and I run an Dell Studio 1747 (windows 7 home premium 64)
Install went clean on both machines

This may be a router issue.  What brand/model router?

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709n all-in-one: how to print CD/DVD labels, on Mountain Lion OS?

My printer is an HP Officejet 6500 E709n all-in-one: how do I print CD/DVD labels, using MACBook Pro & Mountain Lion OS?
    Thanks,
    Jim
    [Edited for Personal Information]

Hi there Jim, aka @jknud , welcome to the forums
I understand you're looking to print CD/DVD labels to your Officejet 6500 Wireless, from your Mac.
There are normally third party software programs you can download to print out whichever brand of labels you are trying to print on. If you wish to let me know which type of labels you are using, I will see if I can find their support forums for you.

  • Hp 6500 officejet 6500 e709n series won't print

This printer printed a few documents, but, after one week, it would not print, I just get an error message on the screen and my computer has a popup that says "document failed to print".     Officejet 6500 e709n series.

What operating system? How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN?  Will the printer make copies without problems?
I would suggest downloading the HP Print Diagnostic Utility from HP here.  If the printer is connected with a LAN connection (wired or wireless) you can also download the Network Diagnostic Utility.

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709n printer - black ink not printing

I have an HP Officejet 6500 E709n printer and for some reason the black ink is not printing.  The color cartridges work fine.  I even changed the black cartridge, cleaned and aligned the print heads, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, but nothing fixed the issue.  I was wondering if the color management profile has something to do with this.  Please help!

I am experiencing the same problem. I too, have tried installing a new black ink catridge, taking out the printer head and cleaning it by hand, cleaning the printer head using the HP software, doing a partial reset, doing a hard reset and nothing. Black does not print out at all, whether it's an alignment page, quality report or something from my own files (Word, Excel, PDF, etc). The black does not appear at all. Can someone PLEASE help solve this problem?

    Welcome to the forums Etow,
I saw your post about the issue you are having with printing from Google Chrome. Have you tried disabling your pop up blocker to see if that will help? Also see this guide about Printing with Chrome.
If the above does not help, try using Firefox or Internet Explorer to print.
