HP Officejet 6600 won't copy

I have an Officejet 6600 still in warantee that has been working fine.   All of a sudden, it will not copy, either from the feeder or from the glass.   I get an error message to load paper.  Yet, I can scan the document and print it.   There is no problem printing from Word or other programs.   I have checked for paper jams; there are none.   I checked to see if I could load a new printer driver, but there is none available.    Suggestions? Thank you

Hi petrocelli, Thank you for your reply! I would recommend a hard reset, by going to this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by . It is important to make sure the printer's power cable is plugged directly into the wall outlet, and not a surge protector. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. My HP Officejet 4620 all in one printer won't copy or scan, but it will print.  When trying to scan, my computer first shows a window "preparing to scan" then it changes to a window "scanner unreachable".  When trying to copy the printer indicates "now copying page 1/1" but it never produces a copy.  The light never goes across the flat glass, photographing the image to be scanned or copied.

Hello @dbvancouver   and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help.
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g Drivers.

  • HP Officejet 6600 won't print in black and white

So I have a HP Officejet 6600 which recently ran out of it's magenta cartridge. I knew I wouldn't be able to print in color, but when I went to the printer and set preferences to print black only it still tells me I need to replace the magenta cartridge before I can resume printing. This is extremely annoying because I start school monday and have syllabi and things I need to print out. Please don't tell me to order or go out and buy a magenta cartridge. I just need to know how to get this specific printer to work using only black ink when the color cartidges are depleted.

There are a few reasons color ink is used, even when printing black only:   Some ink is used to keep the nozzles from drying out.  When printing (even black only) the color printhead, attached to the same structure as the black printhead, is waving around in the air and the nozzles would clog if there were no servicing. When automatic duplex printing the front page typically has a thin underprint of color ink under the black to "set" the black ink.  It is not intuitive, but this causes the black ink to dry faster, reducing the chances of smearing the ink as the page is pulled back into the printer to print the back side.Graphics are typically printed with a mixture of color ink rather than black.  The color droplets are much smaller than the black droplets.  The composite black (made from colors) gives visibly better grayscale graphics results.  (For some drivers there is an option for printing in grayscale as "black ink only" or "High quality grayscale".) Printing in "Best" quality typically underprints balck with color to give a darker black. The pigmented black ink is not compatible with photo apper.  If photo paper is detected or selected in the driver the printer will mix color ink to make black.Depending on the driver the option for "black ink only" may not be available when color ink will be needed, for example in the duplex printing case. See the document here for information on how ink is used in the printing process.  In the language of that document the Officejet 6600 is an IIC printer. If you want a printer that can print with no color ink at all I would suggest something like a monochrome Laserjet, or an IPH printer such as the Deskjet 6980 or Officejet 8040a that would allow printing with the color cartridge removed compeltely.

  • New HP office jet 5745 won't copy or scan from glass

Brand new officejet 5745 won't copy or scan anything from the glass.  I insert paper, choose copy and the document feeder from above runs, lightbar doesn't move and it produces a blank page.  When trying to scan from computer, I get an error message to insert document into document feeder. Help.
    thanks.

    Hello cdnmaggies,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that the Officejet 5745 will only attempt to scan or copy from the ADF. There could be some packing material or tape triggering the sensor in the ADF. Open the ADF and look for anything that got missed.
If it is clear, load a plain piece of paper into the ADf and tell it to copy. When the paper is fed through and done copying, ensure that there is not message on the screen that an original is loaded. If this is displayed, remove the power from the back of the printer to reset the memory.
Ensure the printer is connected to a wall outlet directly and then connect the power back to the printer. If the there is no  message, try copying from the glass.

  • Hp officejet 6600 paper jams every time

all of a sudden, my officejet will not print ANYTHING! doesn't matter whether it's scanned, copied, etc.....it jams every single piece of paper inside it. I've unplugged it, resterted it...nothing changes, still crumples every paper. Very fruetrating...any ideas? n I am trying to avoid uninstalling the **bleep** thing and reinstalling it....I ave not tried different paper, but idk why that would matter, it's printing paper.....
