Hp officejet 6700 premium problems .when copying and scanning

my printer kept giving me the message : " the original is jammed in the automatic document feeder (ADF)
open the adf cover, remove and reload the original , and then try again”
whenever i print or scan stuffs.  please help asap! thanks

Had the same problem, and saw in another thread, a solution that worked for me.  The cover hinges had come loose, probably when scanning a book.  Just re-seat them so the cover fits snugly and it worked like a champ.

  • C5280 prints black page when copying and scanning

    Can anybody help please.
C5280 prints a black page when I want to copy or scan but it prints ok from the computer. The light seems to be working on it. I am unable to reinstall with the disc as the CD drive is not working now. Does it need to be reinstalled.
    Thanks for any help possible.

    Hi @Dani77 ,
I see by your post that you are getting a black page when copying and scanning from the printer. You can print fine and you updated the HP software, the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and you have the same results.
I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
I wasn't sure whether you just updated the printer software on the printer or the firmware.
If you haven't already, please update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer Drivers.
Disconnect the USB or Ethernet cable from the printer.
Make sure the printer is still connected directly to a 3 prong wall outlet.
Try making a copy with a blank sheet.
If the output is blank, then try and copy a text document.
I will send you another step to try in a private message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet)
Please let me know the outcome.
    Have a nice day!

  • Black page when copying and scanning

    Hi,
I have a HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP, all was working fine until I changed the ink cartridge two days ago.  Printing is fine but when I go to copy or scan I get a solid black page printed.  I've checked the light goes across when copying and scanning, tried switching off printer and on again, plugged it straight in to wall and updated all HP software.  Any ideas?
    Many thanks
    Dani

  • OfficeJet 6700 Premium Problems after Windows 8.1 update

My Officejet 6700 Premium worked great wirelessly under Windows 7 to print & Scan.  Since updating to Windows 8.1, I can print to the printer wirelessly (having set it up manually from the printer), but the software won't load and I can't scan.  Setting up a network connection using downloaded HP software fails (it just says it failed, no error message), and trying to download the entire software package (which includes scan, which I need), also fails during step 1 of 4.  I tried uninstalling all HP software first, but the same errors persist.  I don't want to mess things up further (as I said, I'm able to print wirelessly now), but I really want to be able to scan to the computer.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello mfrank1,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some printing issues since you upgraded to Windows 8.1.
I do have a few troubleshooting steps that we can try to resolve this issue.
I first suggest that we uninstall the old software and drivers. I realize that you have already attempted to do this but I still would like to try it again but this time using the following document:  Uninstalling the Printer Software.
When you stated that you have the printer connected with a direct connection using wireless, is this with a Bluetooth connection? Do you have a Router that you are going through?
Once the software is uninstalled, please restart the computer.  Please disable any firewalls or anti virus protection before starting the next step.
When the computer is back up and running, please click on the following link for the HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver.
Please save the download to the Desktop of the computer so that it creates it's own Icon.  Double click on the new Icon and follow the instructions.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Officejet 6700 Premium - Pauses print job and won't resume

I recently bought this printer and set it up. It was working perfectly. I unplugged it for a few days when I went out of town. And now, after powering it back on, it won't print anything. It immediately pauses the print job and won't resume.
I checked to make sure it was still set up to my wireless and it says that it's connected. I'm printing from my MacBook.
I have no idea what the problem could be. Not really a techie so please describe solutions in "laymen's terms".
    Thanks!

    Hi DeniseT,
    Welcome to the HP forums!
You have an Officejet 6700 that is paused and won't allow you to resume on your Mac? This techie would be happy to help you get this working again
What I'd like you to try DeniseT is to reset your printing system and then re-add the printer. This Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system document from Apple will explain step by step how to reset the printing system. Once you've added the printer back you should be able to print without issue.
Hope to hear back from you soon with a success story

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium, Won't print in black ink only

Hello I have a officejet 6700 premium and im running windows 7 home. I recently ran out of the color cartridge yellow but i cannot afford to replace it right now and would like to know if there is a way to print only in black when my color cartridges are depleted. I tried selecting 'only black ink' under setting but when I tried to print it said i must replace the yellow cartridge before I can resume printing. Please help!

The Officejet 6700 premium has separate printheads and ink supplies, with plumbing to connect them.  If one of the colors has run out completely printing will be blocked as ink is needed to keep the printhead from clogging.  While printing even black only the printhead would be waving around in the air and the color portion of the printhead could become clogged if there were not sufficient ink available for servicing.  Sorry, but you will need to replace the color cartridge.
The document here decribes how ink is used in HP (and other) inkjet printers.  In the language of that document the Officeejt 6700 is an IIC printer.

  • My Mac stoped printing. I am on ox 10.9 and I have a HP Officejet 6700 premium

My Mac stoped printing. I am on ox 10.9 and I have a HP Officejet 6700 premium. I've reinstalled the drivers and tried several time . . . It just keeps telling me that the printer is busy.
I also have a PC hocked up to the network and it prints fine.
There is nothing wrong with my mac either because I have a dymo printer hocked up and it prints fine . . .
    What gives?

    Hi HappyHarpo,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the HP Forum.
At first step I suggest to restart your Mac and printer. If printer is in a network, also reboot the router first. Then try printing again.
If it still fails, I suggest to reset the printing system. Open Printers & Scanners and right-click the left side with the listed printer then choose Reset Printing System.
Then add the printer again, make sure next to "Use" the HP Printer/driver is selected correctly, and test printing.
    Best regards,
    Mandy

  • Officejet 6700 Premium says color cartridge is depleted and won't print at all

My printer is only 5-6 months old, and refuses to print because it says the Yellow cartridge is depleted. I know it has not dried up and that it is still printing fine because I signed up for an app that prints out recipes every weekday (in color) and the page printed just this morning looked perfectly fine - the yellow showed up totally normal. The estimated ink level for the yellow cartridge does say that it is depleted, but how can that be when I have proof (from this morning's printout) that I still have yellow ink?  And, according to the manual, the printer will still print if one of the color cartridges is depleted, as long as the black is not depleted. The black is only half-used, so why is the manual giving false information and my printer still refuses to print anything? Very frustrated....

Hey BoydJones, I see you are having an issue with your Officejet 6700 Premium and have a few questions.  There are 2 major types of ink systems for inkjet model printers: IPH (integrated printhead) and IIC (individual ink cartridges).  Many older model printers used the IPH style cartridge system: Tri-Color and Black.  Most newer printers use the IIC system, but not all. There was a reason for the paradigm shift in the ink systems.  The tri-color cartridge contained all 3 colors used in color printing: Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.  If any one of the 3 ran out, then you had to replace the cartridge no matter how much of the other 2 remain in the cartridge.  In the IIC system one can change only the individual color that is out. As to the reason your color is draining from what appears to be little color usage:  The printer uses ink in many ways.  Ink is used when cleaning the printhead to ensure proper performance in print jobs, a small amount of color ink is placed below black ink to ensure a full rich black color and a long lasting printout, and ink is used to perform other preventative maintenance in the printer.  For more information on how ink is used in HP printers please click here. The reason one has to change the cartridge in the IIC style ink system is to prevent damage to the printhead of the unit by ink drying in the ports of the printhead.  The printhead in the 6700 premium is a stationary/permanent printhead and any damage of this nature could prevent the unit from printing at all.  In the 2 cartridge, IPH, system the printhead is contained with the cartridge and replaced with each cartridge change.  Thus, if one runs out of color and waits to replace the cartridge there will not be an issue of dried ink in the ports as the printhead is changed with the cartridge. I hope this helps to explain and clarify.  As well, I saw your post and forwarded it to the right people for their review. You should hear back from someone shortly via private message on this Forum. Jason

  • Hp officejet 6700 premium printer-printer failure

I bought a HP officejet 6700 premium a month ago.  I installed the printer and it printed ok.  But after a few day of use, it suddenly stopped printing and gave a Printer Failure massage on the front control panel.  The message says: There is a problem with the printer or ink system.  Turn printer off then on.  If problem persists, contact HP.  I have checked all ink cartridges.  They seem all ok (I have only print less than 10 pages since installed). I have turned power off and on several times but did'nt work.   I have searched all over the HP website for help, but still can't find a solution for my printer problem.   I deeply appreciate, if someone can help me or give me directions to make my new printer works again.  Thanks.
P.S.  my laptop computer has Winders 7.

Did you get an answer? I think the problem lies with the blue print head with the gold pins, they get bent when you change out printer cartridges. Several folks have had this problem. I watched a youtube video of repairman saying both the 6600 and 6700 printer had this problem until HP changed the print heads. I am still fussing with HP about this but I am pretty certain I won't get any relief. Good luck

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium - Won't print from my laptop.

HP Officejet 6700 Premium - Microsoft Windows 7 - I get a message on my Dell Laptop that says my printer is offline. The connection between the laptop and printer is wireless. I can run copies by placing them on my printer, but the printer is not reading instructions from my laptop. I cannot even print a test page when the instruction is given from my laptop.

    Hello,
In addition to what "banhien" mentioned. Obtain the IP of the printer.
On the PC desktop > START > All Programs > HP > Officejet 6700 > Update IP , then type in the IP obtained from the printer.

  • Feeder on Officejet 6700 Premium won't take pages

I am trying to fax multiple pages and I can't get the fax to take the pages.  It just keeps telling me to place the original in the automatic document feeder.  When I do this I hear the doorbell sound that says the papers are in place, but the printer is not recognizing that the papers are in place.  I have opened the lid and turned off and on the printer thinking may need to be reset, but to no avail.  I can fax from the scanner glass, but not from the feeder.  Someone help me figure out what's wrong with my printer.  Thanks in advance!
