Hi @jerryoz,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you cannot scan with your HP Officejet 7410. I am happy to help!
Some questions for starters:
What Operating System are you using? Windows or Mac? What version? If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos.
Are you able to make copies with your printer?
In the meantime, if you are using Windows, please try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens!
Hope to hear from you soon!

  • HP Officejet J4580 Scan Problems

I've been at this for quite some time even chatting with HP for over 10 hours.  My scanner for the OfficeJet J4580 will not work on my desktop using Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 3.  It will however work using the Dell Latitude Notebook running Windows XP Professional.  If I use the scanner camera wizard "the computer cannot detect the scanner" appears.  HP document manager says "no scanner found".  HP solutions center says "Hp imaging device not found".  In working with HP I have done 4 complete uninstall and reinstalls to no avail. The HP Digital imaging Monitor icon appears on the system tray.  Under Device Manager - Imaging Device the OfficeJet J4580 appears with an error message "Windows cannot load the device drivers for this hardware.....". I have installed and run the HP Scan Diagnostic Utility and these 3 red errors appear: Yellow Banged Out Dot4 Entries, Registry Mismatch and Scan folder. (The utility cannot fix the problems and says to unistall and reinstall the software, which I've done)  Any assistance would be appreciated.

follow these instructions and see what happens:
    1. Insert the installation disk you used to install the software on your PC, and open the CD contents from the Autoplay menu or from My Computer.
    2. Locate and open the 'util' folder, and then open the 'ccc' folder inside it.
    3. Double click on the file 'Uninstall_L2.bat, and unplug the USB cable when asked to. Restart the PC if required also.
    4. Restart the installation, and this time, when you're plugging in the USB cable, keep Device Manager open. Once you connect it, make sure that no HP device entries are left with a Yellow '?' of '!' mark. the drivers can be located on the CD. So make sure ALL HP device entries have their drivers.
    5. Finish the installation and try to scan.
If that doesnt work, then go back to the CCC folder, and run the Uninstall_L2.bat file first, then Uninstall_L3.bat. Then download the latest version of the software for the printer FROM HERE and try installing it.

  • HP Officejet 6700 - scanning problem, "device is busy. please try again later"

I am using a windows laptop (Lenovo Yoga II). I have an HP Officejet 6700 printer/ scanner. The printing functions seem to work fine but the scanning function is now not working at all (worked previously).
When I use the HP Scan and Capture app is comes up with a message "Device is busy. Please try again later". I have installed the full software and also run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it fails the driver check even after a full restart of both printer and laptop.
I have tried everything wirelessly and also connecting the laptop to the printer via USB and nothing seems to work.
When I try to scan direct from the printer/ scanner to the computer (ie. using the panel on the front of the printer) it recognises the computer but doesn't scan and suggests that the "scan application on the computer is currently in use".
I have McAfee LiveSafe running and also tried switching that off but didn't seem to make any difference.
Any ideas welcome. I really need to scan some things today and this is very frustrating.

  • HP Officejet 7410 to scan? Printer says I need to install or run HP software for this feature.

If anyone helps me, thanks much in advance.  I am using a Pavilion dv7 laptop.  Old but still running.

    Hi latterrain,
I am glad to hear your Pavilion dv7 is still working I would be happy to help you get your Officejet 7410 scanning to it.
    Please post back with the answers to the following questions;
Is the printer connected wirelessly or with a USB cable?
Is the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or a surge protector? (It is best to connect directly to the wall)
Do  you have any other HP Printers installed on this computer? If so, do you still have the printers?
What version of Windows do you have?
While I wait to hear back from you, if you haven't already tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor, please do so and let me know the outcome. You will see a wrench, a yellow exclamation mark, a red X, or a check mark next each tested item.

  • Officejet 7410xi scans only fully black

my officejet 7410xi scans and copies only fully black. The light comes on and passes under the original but I only get a full black page for scans and copies. There must be a problem with the electric eye that reads the original.

The document here might help resolve issues with your Officejet 7410 scanning and copying only in black.

  • Why Can't I scan anymore on my HP Officejet 7410

Upgrading to Mavericks on my 2010 MacBook Pro has totally broken my ability to scan on my HP Officejet 7410.
I downloaded the document "How do I scan with the driver from Apple Software Update".
It offers 3 alternative methods for scanning using Mavericks, agreeing that Mavericks breaks the HP Software driver
None of the 3 methods work anymore. (Method 1 used to work but it stopped)
    What to do now?
    Anyone else having this problem?
Are we expecting a driver upgrade from HP?
Must I abandon HP for one of the newer printers?
    Steve

Hello JessTandi, Welcome to the HP Forums.  I see that you are having an issue when attempting to print on 11x17 paper. What is the software or printing program you are using when attempting to print on this size?  Please make sure the size is set in the software and on the printing preferences. We can run the HP Print and Scan Doctor just in case there is an issue with the software. Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions.   Cheers,

  • Scanner and fax problems with the Officejet 7410 AIO

    Hi
I have Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 64 bit and I installed the basic drivers for the network of the Officejet 7410 AIO printer and I checked that all its functions worked properly.
Now, the functionality of the scanner and fax do not work more as in the "Devices and Printers" not appear more their relative icons. How come? How do I install them manually?
    Thanks

I see that you are having scanning, and faxing problems with your HP Officejet 7410 on Windows 7 SP1.
    I would recommend the following:
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, to diagnose the issue.
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Re-install the software using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

  • No HP driver to  allow the scan function on an Officejet 7410

Like an idiot I went out and purchased Mac OS X 10.5 the first weekend so I could be the "first on my block" to have installed it. Unfortunately, when I went to scan with my HP Officejet 7410 All in One, the HP prompts said I needed to install new software. I called HP and after getting through the maise in India, a technician in Canada said that Apple neglected to provide code to any third party vendor until a week before the new OS was made available to the public. Thus, until HP provides an OS X compatable driver for OS X 10.5, I have to run to Fed Ex to scan in documents. Isn't Mac OS X 10.5 grand??? Next time I will be sure to wait to purchase any new OS until the third party vendors have provided new software for the new OS. By the way aren't there any individuals who work for HP in the United States. I had to sign in in India to talk to a technician in Canada. What is this country coming to?

  • Problems printing with Officejet 7410 with Windows XP

    Hi
I have an Officejet 7410 set up at home on my woriesless network. For the last two months it has been working perfectly this way, I have two laptops that print to it, one that runs on Windows 7 and one on Windows XP that have both have the most up to date drivers installed and were working fine. I also regularly connect to a remote desktop connection to access my office database and also print to the Officeject 7410 through this connection as well.
However, in the last week the Windows XP laptop now only prints correctly with some documents, such as PDF's, other documents such as Word documents or emails when printed from this machine print in hyrogliphics such as the Wingdings font. The Windows 7 laptop is still printing perfectly though and will even print the same docments perfectly so I know it's nothing wrong with the documents.
I have made sure the driver is the most up to date and have reisntalled it in case of any problems and nothing has changed.
Do I need to use the Terminal Services Easy Print driver to work with the HP 7410 All In One? It uses TS client 6.0 which is the most up to date one for the XP operating system
I would be grateful for any suggestions anyone can give to help me resolve this please.
    Many thanks
    Jo

    Hi Jo,
Usually when everything is working fine and then suddenly goes wrong on only 1 computer it means something has been introduced onto the computer with problems.
Do you recall any software you might have installed on the XP machine prior to your problems? In particular did you add Service Pack 3 to your XP machine?
Please note I have a new account Print_Hint
(this one is no longer active)

  • I am not able to scan on my Officejet 7410 All-in-one

I run the HP Print and Scan Doctor finding and fixing scan problems and it keeps getting hung up at the point where is says that there is a registry problem found with device registration and it says I should unistall and reinstall the software from the Full Feature Software from Customer Care (recommended) which I have done 4 times and it still will not scan

    Hi,
Thanks for reporting the issue. There are few ways you can do scanning from the Printer
    1. Make sure you downloaded latest HP software and installed it.
    2. From PC, launch HP printer application (Start->Program files-HP->printer model->Hp Model series) or the solution center and double click scan link to do scanning
    OR
    3. Any third party applications like Paint program, click file and choose insert the image from scanner.
    4. If it is connected via network, then you can use your browser to make scan, Here is the video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HbWpgww5I-M
If any of above option doesn't work, then download the print and scan doctor application and run it.

Help! I've spent hours researching this and can't find a solution...
I upgraded 3 Intel Macs in the house to Snow Leopard last weekend. All went differently...but all were successful. I found that the connection to my HP Officejet 7410 (connected wirelessly to 802.11g Airport Express (AEX) network) was "broken". Deleted then "re-intalled". Documents could now be printed. I then found out scan function was "broken". Figured out how to scan with new Snow Leopard "baked-in" driver and Scan tab...different, but it worked.
Then, tonight, on the eve of my birthday, I was given the green light to purchase an Airport Extreme 802.11n (dual-band) base station (AEBS). I set it up and got 2.5X speed on the two 802.11n laptops in the household. Glorious! Then I went to work to ensure print and scan functions were still operational. Tried to re-connect HP OJ 7410 to wireless network...when it found the network it asked for the "WEP" key (on previous AEX network I was secured utilizing WPA2/Personal)...I entered the WPA2/Personal password (same as previous network) and got the error message "Key must be 5 or 13 characters OR 10 or 26 length with 0-9 and A-F (hex)". So I turned off the wireless radio and instead plugged the 7410 into the AEBS via USB. Deleted the previous queue and re-installed. Found the printer no problem but now without the Scan tab or function anywhere...despite following all the recommendations found both on the HP site and here in the Apple Forums. I print fine. Can't for the life of me figure out what the problem with the now lost again Scan function is.
Only strangeness I can think of is the following: When setting up the network(s), I had the option of naming the 5 ghz band something different. I set mine up with the same name of the 2.4 ghz network with 5ghz in parenthesis (i.e. BobbyG and BobbyG (5 Ghz)).
Sorry for the long post but we need the scan function in the house for my wife's teaching purposes. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Very Respectfully,
    Bobby G.

  • Can't Connect OfficeJet 7410 to new wireless network - used to work on old one

Hi, I'm on a Mac OS.  I just upgraded my wireless network to use an airport extreme.  I have a verizon fios router - same as I had when it used to connect.  The only change was adding the airport extreme.  Now, the officejet 7410 all-in-one will not connect to the wireless connect.  It SEES the name of the network, and asks me for a WEP Key, which it didn't used to do.  It used to ask me for the network password.  I found the WEP key on the router and it acts like it is trying to connect but takes a long time and then gives me an error.  One time it never gave me an error and seemed like it had worked, but was not connected.  It just gave up.
My configuration page indicates offline with no active connection and wireless status disconnected.
I restarted everything with no change.  I don't know why it would be asking me for a WEP key this time and then not accept it but that was the first indication that something was different when it didn't ask me for the network password.
Also, as a separate issue but related.  In trying to fix this, I deleted my drivers to reinstall and see if I started over that it would work.  That created another problem in that now it seems that HP no longer supports a driver for this printer.  Is that even possible?  It's not that old.  It says it does not exist on the software update.  Please help!

    Hi YSJA,
I'm sorry to hear you've had problems accessing your Officejet 7410 since adding the AirPort Extreme to your home network.
I have included a link to HP's Wireless Printing Center troubleshooting section. It has section, "Was anything changed or updated on your router recently?" that has detailed steps to help you resolve the issue.

  • HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One no longer 'automatically' print double sided

After upgrading my PC from Windows XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit my HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One printer no longer prints double-sided automatically.  When sending something to print I am presented with only two options: Print One-Sided or Manually Print on Both Sides.  If I choose the latter I have to manually reload the paper when prompted.  I have tried searching for updates and downloading drivers but nothing  has resolved the problem.  I've even gone into printer properties printing shortcuts and changed the settings in "Print on Both Sides" to 'automatically' and still I am prompted to reload the paper.  It is a real pain when I have to print a very large slide pack especially when the printer decides to pick up two sheets at the same time.  I have spoken to HP and they say my printer is old and they cannot help me.  It is about 8-10 years old.  Any advice would be gratefully received.

    Hello Toosweet
In Printer Preferences make sure the duplexer is enabled. Do you have the full feature software installed?

  • Scanning problem with HP Photosmart C6180

Since the upgrade to 10.6 my HP C6180 multifunction printer is not working as a scanner from Adobe Acrobat Pro 9
I select from the acrobat menu:
    File
    CreatePDF
    From Scanner
in the "acrobat scan" window Scanner: shows "Please select a device" but there is nothing in the drop down list!
This means that i can not scan a document to PDF from within Adobe Acrobat pro. I can scan through preview but preview does not provide the same features that Acrobat Pro does.
Any Ideas? I have re-installed the adobe software but no joy...

Had scanning problem after uploading Snow Leopard -
    This will fix your problem!
Scanning with the software included in Mac OS X 10.6
New with Snow Leopard, the Scanning interface to these HP Inkjet All-in-One devices is now built into Snow Leopard and supported with the Apple Image Capture application. There are three ways to perform scanning from your HP All-in-One:
    Preview program
    Image Capture program
System Preferences > Print & Fax
Important: After you open the scan interface, it is important to select the correct mode ( Flatbed or Document Feeder ) for the source of the scan image. Your HP All-in-One may have an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or a flatbed lid. By default, Document Feeder will be the automatically selected Mode for any devices that have an ADF. You must select Flatbed if you want to scan directly from the glass flatbed and not the Document Feeder.
For more information about Scanning and Image Capture, open the Help menu from Mac OS X 10.6 and type in your question.
Method one: Scan from the Preview application
Click the Apple Preview icon in the dock to open the Preview application.
From the Preview File pull-down menu, choose Import from Scanner .
Choose the HP Photosmart, Officejet, or Deskjet All-in-One.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Method two: Scan from the Image Capture application
In the Applications folder, select and open Image Capture .
In the list of devices on the left, click your HP All-in-One.
Networked devices appear in the Shared list.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Method three: Scan from Print & Fax > Printer browser
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences .
    Click Print & Fax .
In the list of printers on the left side of the dialog, select the HP All-in-One to view the options in the Print & Fax window.
Click the Scan tab, and then click Open Scanner .
    The Printer Browser window appears.
Click the Scan icon at top right of the toolbar to launch scanning.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Important Gotcha: If the Scan or Print icons do not appear in the Printer Browser window toolbar, you need to delete the current HP printer queue and add a new one, as follows:
Close the Printer Browser window to return to the Print & Fax preference pane. Or, go directly to the System Preferences > Print & Fax pane.
Select your HP printer in the list on the left.
Click the - sign at the bottom of the list to delete the product from the list.
Click the + sign at the bottom of the list to add the product back to the list.
Select your HP printer, and then click Add to create a new print queue.
The next time you open the Printer Browser window, the Print and Scan icons should appear in the toolbar, providing access to Image Capture.

  • Double sided printing on HP officejet 7410 and windows 8.1

I recently had to upgrade to a new computer with Windows 8.1 and after downloading the driver for my old HP Officejet 7410 All in One WITH the double sided printing attachment, I cannot get it to print on both sides automatically, as in the printer setup there is only "print one page" or manually print double sided.  I continue to get the manual print instructions to turn the pages over.  I have downloaded the driver twice and cannot find an option for the double sided driver.  The printer still prints double sided automatically with the other old computer i have.
Help ~ wanting to print double sided!

I have the same problem.  I have the HP Officejet 7410 that supports automatic double sided printing.  I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1.  I installed the most recent software and drivers from the HP support site.  But automatic double sided printing is no longer an option.  What's up with that HP?  How about a fix?
