HP OfficeJet 8615 wont feed photo paper.

I've followed all the steps and suggestions I could find, including everything listed at http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-Pro-8610-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5367603/model/5385104/document/c04117836/ and the **bleep** thing won't pick up either "HP Everyday Photo Paper, Glossy, 8.5 x 11 Inches" or Staples Photo Supreme Matte 8.5x11 paper and neither will feed though the darn thing.  It feeds plain paper just fine, but refuses to do any photo paper. I'm about ready to return this worthless piece of junk.  I've worked with Canon, Brother, and other printers before and I have never run into such a poorly designed feed mechanism.

I have found the same thing--except it will print on 4X6 card stock.  Initially it did seem to print on photo paper so I am thinking that perhaps it is the rollers that are either gummed up with ink or are worn after a while.  It seems that it also has difficulty printing thicker photo paper in larger sizes.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 (N911a) will not feed photo paper - Definitive Answer!!!!

    DUST IS THE CULPRIT!
As per the HP support page for this specific problem, cleaning the rollerhead (The rubber part of the pick roller), is the solution.
    HP Solution here (with pictures).
The specifics are found under the heading:
Solution four: Clean the paper rollers
My printer was able to pick up regular paper, but not photo paper.  I updated all drivers (they automatically update weekly).  I tried every combination of paper in the tray: 1 sheet of photo paper, a large stack of regular paper with 1 photo paper, large stack with 5 sheets of photo paper.  Every combination failed, and the best it got was 1 page of photo paper with the next sheet underneath also coming with it.
I put the thing on its side, and used RUBBING ALCOHOL, (not water as they suggest... rubbing alcohol is much better for electronics, and pretty much any cleaning application.... evaporates very quickly), with a true lint free cloth.  Went over it several times with the cloth, rotating while cleaning, and used an AIR DUSTER to clean out the internals, and dry off the PICK ROLLER.
I RESET ROLLER POSITION to the original place, as shown in the HP Photo on support page.
Lastly, ONE SHEET OF PAPER at a time.
It took all that, and I'm still not happy with HP for this massive oversight... but it got my photos printing again.  Hopefully it will for you too!!

I managed to find a temporary solution as i need to print a photo urgently :
I sticked a piece of scotchtape along the top border of the paper (on the back side) and then it could feed. And i don't know why, but after this first print with scotchtape, the next photo papers would feed normally.
I hope it helps you guys. See the picture:

  • Officejet j4680 jams with photo paper

I have an Officejet J4680 all in one printer that will not feed HP photo paper.  The printer will print photos on 20# stationary but jams with the photo paper.  I have tried different mfg. paper without any luck.

Same issue. Using HP Advanced Photo Paper 5x7 supposedly optimized for HP products. One sheet finally fed correctly, but then printer went back to its tricks. The paper gets pulled up around the first set of rollers, but then gets blocked from feeding under the print heads...After "printing" cycle completes, the still-blank sheet is fed to the output tray. Very nice. And, of course, a full sheet 8.5x11 photo paper prints and feeds correctly.

  • Hp 8500 wireless, cant use tray 2 to feed photo paper

I have tried defaulting to tray 2 to print a high quality photo on HP Advanced Photo Paper Glossy photo
but it will only take paper from tray 1
    How do I fix this???
    Thanks in advance.

The photo paper needs to be placed on Tray 1. Tray 2 is only for Letter\Legal size plain paper.

HP officejet 4315 wont pick up photo paper

It's about the settings in the printer properties.  Set it to the color picture paper you are suing and all  you problems will go away.  I was also going to take it back till my 15 year old suggested using the properties.

  • Will the Officejet 7000 handle 10 mil glossy photo paper, can it pull that thickness through it?

I had an older DesignJet 1220c that would not feed the 10 mil photopaper through it, I had to manually feed it from a paper slot in the back.
What about the Officejet 7000? Is 10 mil photo paper approved for it?
    Thanks,
    MG

  • HP Photosmart C5180 Will no longer feed 8x11 Photo paper from main tray

My C5180 all in one will no longer feed 8x11 photo paper from main tray.  Rollers slip and will not pull paper in. Any suggestions?

    Hi @583seve
I see youa re having some difficulty with your Photosmart C5180. The following document addresses both out of paper messages and issues with paper pick; 'Out of Paper' Error Message Displays and the Product Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper.
If the issue persists, you might consider trying the steps in a paper jam document. Although you may not be experiencing a paper jam, the steps in this document may be all that is left to try; 'Clear paper jam, then press OK' Error Message Displays on the Control Panel.
I hope this helps, but if after all your efforts the issue remains, I suggest calling HP. They may be able to offer you a discount on a newer model as part of a trade in trade up option. If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.

  • Printer wont pick up 6 x 4 photo paper

When we first tried to print from the computer on 6 x 4 paper,  the printer did so, but since then, it will not pick up 6x4 paper, but  it will print onto A4.   When requested to print onto 6x4 paper from the computer it picks up A4 each time.  We have tried disconnecting and it still wont pick up 6x4.

    Hi,
Are you using Windows 7 on your laptop and what printer model do you have?
If you're using wndows 7, then you should be able to specify the paper source as in the screen shot below. The main tray is usually A4 and the photo tray would normally contain the 6 x 4 photo paper.
Just to clarify one other point: when you say that the printer refuses to pick up the paper, is the printer not printing anything or just printing to a different paper source?

  • Where to load photo paper on my new Officejet Pro 8600

I just set up a new Officejet Pro 8600 e-Print All-in-One Printer. The salesman told me that photo paper is loaded in the tray on the top of the printer. I tried that and have been unable to get the printer to use that paper, it goes to the paper tray on the bottom of the machine. When I placed the photo paper there, the printer would not load the photo paper and displayed an "out of paper" message. I would like to print an 8x10 photo. I am using Windows 7 and have tried printing from both Windows Media and Adobe Photoshop Elements 9, both in 64-bit. Any help available will be greatly appreciated. I am trying to print from an emailed photo of my husband's mentor, who passed away last week. Please help me.

    Hi,
My suggestion: Use HP Photo Creators, this software is tailored to use on HP printers. Here is how, from page #26 of its manual, one point to note: point #4.
    Load cards and photo paper
To load cards and photo paper Use these instructions to load photo paper.
    1. Pull out Tray 1.
    2. Insert the media print-side down in the center of the tray. Make sure the stack of media aligns with the line on the width guide, and is not higher than the paper stack line on the guide.
    3. Slide the media guides in the tray to adjust them for the media size that you have loaded, and then reinsert the tray.
    4. Pull out the extension on the output tray.
    Regards.

  • Have officejet pro 8600 plus and it prints photos to dark on regular or advanced photo paper?

have a officejet pro 8600 plus printer and whenever i print a photo out , either on regular or advanced photo paper it always comes out darker then the actual photo.

Belive it or not this is acctually normal.  Most photos will print a little darker than they appear on screen.  This is due to the way the picture is coded and the brightness level on your monitor.  You could try following the steps in this document to imporve the quality, but I'm pretty everything is doing what it should.  If the colors are completely distorted, let me know and I'll see what I can find.
