HP Officejet Fax problem

I recently brought a HP Officejet Pro 8500 (910n) and cannot use it to fax. The printer's FAX troubleshooting told me the following. That I had two lines (4 wire) system in my house. To be able to fax I needed a 4 wire to 2 wire adapter or connection cable. The printer comes with a standard 2 wire (two center wires only) plug.
Has anyone ever had this problem before? Has anyone ever heard of a 2 wire to 4 wire adapter or cable?
The troubleshooter also had the United States listed as one of the countries having this problem.

HI,
Disconnect all cables and connect directly to a different wall outlet and try again.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Scanner and fax problems with the Officejet 7410 AIO

    Hi
I have Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 64 bit and I installed the basic drivers for the network of the Officejet 7410 AIO printer and I checked that all its functions worked properly.
Now, the functionality of the scanner and fax do not work more as in the "Devices and Printers" not appear more their relative icons. How come? How do I install them manually?
    Thanks

    Hi balubeto,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are having scanning, and faxing problems with your HP Officejet 7410 on Windows 7 SP1.
    I would recommend the following:
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, to diagnose the issue.
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Re-install the software using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this helps, and have a great day!

  • Fax Problems

    Hi
I am experiencing Fax problems in my Cisco Voice network. There are about different problems for each fax machine.
All the fax machines are the same model.
    1. Faxes unable to send out to external lines
Faxes call an outside line, when the remote fax connects, after a minute of negotiation, the call drops, fax says 'Communication Error'
    2. Faxes send mulitple copies of the first page
Faxes call an outside line, when the remote fax connects, but then the fax thinks the call has failed, but has sent the first page. It then tries to resend with the first page being resent again and again.
This has been affecting the faxes on the VG224.
If you need to any information to find a solution please reply me back.
    Thanks
    Vino

To allow the ports on the specified network module for Voice or WAN interface card to use the network clock for timing, you need to use the network-clock-participate command as mentioned previously.
However, each port can be selected as the clock source with the network-clock-source command.
This configures the appropriate interface to supply clock to other ports or network modules that you have chosen to participate in network clocking with the network-clock-participate command.
For example, say you have configured a vwic2-2mft-e1-t1 as follows:-
    network-clock-participate wic 2
    network-clock-select 1 E1 0/2/0
This synchronises the clocks for both port on the dual e1/t1 from 0/2/0.
Therefore if you have a separate vwic and wic in the same router, then do not specify one or the other with network-clock-participate.
This will essentially exclude it from synchronising the port. The port would then resort to using the clocking method stipulated under the controller, normally either line or internal.
    Hope this clarifies the situation.
    HTH
    Allan.

  • HP Officejet 6600 Fax Problems

I have an HP Officejet 6600 and cannot fax to local numbers or some out of state numbers.  I can fax to HP out of state and towns other than my own. Is this due to it being sent digitally?  Can the machine be set to fax analog?
I have ATT-Uverse for internet and Vonage for my phone service and had Vonage on the phone for over an hour and the problem could not be fixed.  They had me contact HP once again and HP said my settings on the machine are working properly.
Formerly I had an Epson all in one and never had a problem faxing anywhere with the same ISP and Phone service providers. Any one have any suggestions or solutions.  The places I tried to fax are businesses and I have checked and their faxes are working properly and turned on.

Here are a couple of steps to try: Here is the HP consumer support page to review. Try these steps and please let us know how it turned out.

  • HP Officejet 6500 709n network scanner & fax problems

I have a HP p7-1298cb desktop computer that came with Windows 7 and I installed the HP 6500 709n to it successfully. Have a home network with several computers and they all use the printer. The printer was connected to the network with and RJ45 cable. I reciently upgraded my HP desktop to Windows 8 and only that computer has problems with scanning and faxing to this computer. I reinstalled the software (OJ_AIO_6500_E709_Full_Win_WW_140_408)  several times HP desktop using wireless connectivity, wired connectivity and USB connection. Only the USB connection works with all of the printer functions, both wireless and wired only can print. The errors I get with the network connection are the following:
The scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked HP image device. Try again later. (from HP Solution Center)
Scan communication problems detected. You may experience limited functionality when scanning from your printer to your PC.
If you are using firewall software, verify TCP port 9500 is unblocked from your PC to your printer at 172.17.1.36.
If you are using firewall software, verify TCP port 9290 is unblocked from your PC to your printer at 172.17.1.36.
To fix the issue(s) try to power your printer off and on. (This message is from the installation)
I have added those ports to my firewall and it doesn't have any effect, I also turned off the firewall on the HP desktop and it also has no effect.
I have searched this discussion board and have found similar issues without a resolution.

    Hi Moondoggytoo,
It looks like you need to do a full scrub of the printer software and re-install it.  An issue like this can happen following an upgrade to Windows 8 when a printer was already installed.  I have enclosed steps needed to take that will clear out programs that are no longer needed.  This should allow for a clean start with a new install.  Let me know how it goes.
    Good Luck!
These steps should only be used on a Windows 8 computer.
Try using the scrubber built into the Download.
    From a download:
    1. Run disk cleanup on your computer
    2. Download and run the software and drivers below.  Select Windows 8 32 or 64 bit, click Next and select the Full Feature Software.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3795406&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
    3. Once the download is done extracting, cancel the download.
    4. Press the Windows key and then the “R” key.
    5. This will bring up the Run window.
    6. Type %temp% in the run field
    7. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    8. Open folder Util
    9. Open folder CCC
    10. Run the Uninstall_L4.bat
    11. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    12. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
    13. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    14. Use this tool to clean the system and registry.  Note: This utility is not HP sponsored or approved.  HP and I are not responsible for damages or loss of data caused by the utility.  This step is optional.   You can skip it if you want.

  • Pc to fax problem with hp officejet 4500

when using the pc to fax function in hp officejet 4500, the person receiving the fax is not clear. the text is broken with horizontal lines

    Welcome to the forums maurivik
I saw your post about how when you send a fax, the received fax is showing lines through it. I would suggest trying the troubleshooting guide below for this issue to hopefully have it corrected.
Received Faxes Are Blank or Have Vertical Lines
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.

  • Officejet 4500 fax problem

I was just given this printer and I cannot figure out how to get the fax to work. I have tried to fax a doc and run a fax test both. I get an error saying that an active phone line was not detected.
When I fax a doc, I can hear it dial the # before I hear the dial tone. The number will dial and then the dial tone followed a busy signal. Its like the machine is dialing the # too soon.
It is an active phone line. I have used it to fax before and there is a dial tone.
Any help will be appreciated!! Thanks

I finally figured it out. Was using 4 wire cord instead of 2 wire. Used the adapter and works great!  Thank you so much!!

  • HP 6100 officejet all in one / fax problems

Ok, I have gone through the set up.  However, I never see a fax icon on the Director, and when I try to bring up the fax settings, all I get is an error message.  I am so frustrated.  I am trying to send a test fax to Kinko's, and I keep being told it doesn't answer.  Obviously I'm doing someting wrong.  I'm a 72 year old women with no 8 year old boy around to assist me.  Help! someone please come to my rescue.  Thanks.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

You won't see a fax icon in the Director. There is no fax program at all that comes with the fax in the All-in-one (at least I've never seen one) that was for the future. The only thing that it handles is your name and telephone number done when you first install or by the menu. It can't save send faxes either. It can do nothing but print out an incomming fax.
You would have to get a real fax machine or a program such as "Mighty Fax" which you can use to send and receive faxes, and it will save your sent faxes and recived faxes. It will convert images to fax, and all input is user friendly without needing printer cardridges to operate. The All-in-one has never incorporated all fax capaibilites into the 6100 series.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 fax problem

I need to connect my fax to our office phone service.  I must dial "9" first to get an outgoing line.  How can I program the fax to do this?
    Thankls.

    Hello halrms,
I see you are trying to fax with a phone line that a "9" needs to be dialed to gain access to an out bound line. You should be able to find the answer to this here: Faxing with Long-Distance Access Codes, Calling Cards, or Internationally.
I didnt not have a chance to try this, but see no reason as to why it will not work.

  • Fax Problem

I’m having a problem with the fax line on my HP Officejet Pro 8500A Printer/Scanner/Fax machine.
When I plug the fax line from the HP Officejet Pro 8500A into the phone jack, none of the other phones in our house will work, and it shows on the printer display that the phone line is in use. When trying to use any of the phones in the house, there is a busy signal sound. When I unplug the fax line, all the phones work fine.
The source of the phone line is at the ATT Modem (3800HGV-B). The phone line exits the modem and goes through an analog RFI phone filter, then goes to a 5 line splitter. One of the 5 lines goes to a wall jack that supplies the rest of the phones in the house. The 2nd goes to a phone jack in an APC surge arrester in-port (the out-port goes to a phone located by the desktop computer), and the 3rd goes to the fax machine. The other 2 are empty.
This configuration has been working perfectly for about 1 year until about September 11th, 2014. I was gone for a week and the phones weren’t working when I returned but the last voice mail I received on the answering machine was on September 11th so the phone had to have have been working up until then.
I tried bypassing the 5-line splitter and connecting the ATT Modem phone line directly to the fax machine and the problem still persisted.
Can anyone help with this problem? I’m stumped.

    Hi @dborski,
I understand that you having issues with the fax. I can help you with this.
I have provided a document with some steps to test the fax connection and fax settings.

Sorry for all the questions, but it will help to resolve this issue quicker.
What type of connection do you have? (Analogue, DSL, Cable Modem)
Are you using the 2 wire fax cable?
Do you have distinctive ring set up on the line?
Is there any voice mail set up?
Do you have a answering machine? (Where is it connected to?)
Is there a phone also connected the printer?
