HP Officejet j4680 will not print in black

Went on vacation, returned and black ink won't print. Changed cartridge to new one, did not help. Deleted printer and reinstalled, still will not prink black ink.

I have an All in One Officejet Pro L7590. When I first got the printer 3 months ago, everything was printing perfectly. Now, out of nowhere, it will not print in black. It only prints in color. I have done all the aligning, printhead cleaning, changing cartridges, etc. I am at a loss as to what to do. Has anyone had this problem with this model? Can anyone help? Thank you.

Thank you so much for responding. After (3) HP printers all having the same difficulty and support not knowing what the problem was, (also many hours with Support) I determined it was the printheads also. The printheads don't seem to last very long and can be more costly than the printer itself if you have to keep replacing them. I changed over to a laser jet. No printheads needed. And I have not had any problems so far. Just need to replace the ink cartridges when they run out. I have the HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni.

I understand your Officejet 4622 will not print wireless. I will do my best to assist you! First, I would like to ask you a couple of questions to clarify: When you installed this printer on your computer, were you able to print a document? Did the installation state it had a successful wireless connection?

What is your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?

Hp 3522 will not print in black

hp 3522 will not print in black - has all new cartridges - replaced black for dim printing and now none at all - retried original cartridge - all hp original cart's. Tried every hp online help's - none worked - out of warrentry as on mar this year.

Thanks - the replacement printer is being shipped -- this is a known problem for HP - and they have extended the warrantee for this product due to the black print head problem..

If you've already tried the usual troubleshooting like checking ink levels, running a Printhead Clean etc....

...then one thing worth a shot (if the printer is out of warranty) is to soak the printhead as described HERE
1) Get a pan and put 1/2" of very hot (not boiling) water in the bottom.
2) Next remove all the ink cartridges, then remove the printhead assembly.
3) Gently put the printhead nozzles down in the water and let it soak for five minutes.
4) Remove the printhead and gently dry the electrical contacts.
5) Put the printhead back in the printer and then reinstall the ink cartridges.

HP Photosmart Premium C310a printer that will NOT print in BLACK. It will print in color.

I have a Photosmart Premium C310 a printer that will NOT print in BLACK. I tried the unplugging the cord and holding # and 3 and it did not work for me. I, at first, purchased a new cartridge thinking it had run out of ink.........so now I am out $25.00.
Any other suggestions. It does print in color. HELP! HELP! The printer is not even 5 months old.

Windows 8.1 and officejet 6110xi - Will not print but scans okay?

Today Jan 5th, 2014 installed Windows 8.1 on my dell desktop.
Now the HP officejet 6110xi will not print.
The scan mode seems to work.
I have tried all of the HP work-a-rounds but no luck!

Is this issue happening on all 4 machine that you have installed the Officejet 8620 on?
Please download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor and let me know the outcome of each test performed. Please run this on all of the computers the printer is installed on if the issue is occurring.
You will see a wrench, a yellow exclamation mark, a red X, or a check mark next each tested item.

Is the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or a surge protector? (It is best to connect directly to the wall)
Do you have any other HP Printers installed on these computers? If so, do you still have the printer(s)?
Is this an HP laptop or a different brand?
Are all the computers running 8.1?

HP Officejet 4630 Will Not Print, despite empty spool

I can not get my printer to print from my laptop, nor my desktop. The print job goes to the printing que and shows it "printing", then "0" documents left to print. Where is it printing? Not at my printer, that's for sure! I have uninstalled the printers (in the 'printers and devices') and reinstalled via usb. I have rebooted the printer (unplugged, waited, plugged back in), rebooted my computers, and rebooted the network. I can not print from the network, nor via usb. I ran the troublshooting printer wizard, still nothing. I'm still running Windows 8.1. Help? -Lyons

Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that your HP Officejet 4630, will not print wireless to your laptop. I am happy to help you with this wireless issue! I have some questions for you:
What Operating System are you using? Windows or Mac? What version?
Is the power cable plugged into a surge protector or directly to the wall outlet? Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
Is your printer's firmware up-to-date? Getting the Latest Firmware and Printer Updates.
In the meantime, try printing a Network Configuration Page. Printing a Network Configuration Page. Look for an IP Address, place it into a browser's address bar, and see if it can bring up the Embedded Web Server.
Also if you are using Windows, please try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens.

HP Printer will not print in black

I have a MacBook Air. A couple days ago, my HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless completely stopped printing black ink. The print cartridge is full, and we even took it out, put it back in, ran the diagnostic tests, cleaned, etc. The printer DOES print text in color. Frustrated, we eventually switched the printer with another, my HP 3520. This printer has always worked fine with my MacBook Air. After we connected this one, we found that IT WILL NOT PRINT BLACK EITHER! Only color! So frustrating. What the heck is going on?!

I see that you are experiencing a issue with the black cartridge has stopped printing. I would like to help.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.
Printing a Network Configuration Page.
If the hardware self test prints, then delete and add the printer driver back in again.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer on the left column and click on the - sign to delete that driver.
Then click on the + sign, highlight the printer, make sure below where it says Use, it is selected on your printer name.
Then click on the Add button. (you might have to click the drop down beside Use to select the printer from the list)
Try printing again.
If the hardware self test didn't print in black, please try the following steps in these documents to resolve this issue.
Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages.
This document provides steps for manually cleaning the contacts.

Here are the steps for manually cleaning the printhead.

Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)

OfficeJet 4500 will not print two sided over network

I'm running on Windows 7 with an OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z over WiFi. Printer works great except that it will not print two sided. We've used a non-WiFi 4500 to print two sided before. With the new printer the first pages print and the pop-up shows on the laptop (prompt to flip paper over) but nothing happens. The second pages never print.
I've run all of the HP print and network diagnostics. Everything appears to be OK.

The solution below was found on the sticky post at the top of this board "Fixes and Workarounds from HP"
I think the patch below only applies if you have the original printer software installed, I assume this issue was fixed in later versions of the printer software, Read the patch information carefully.
