HP Officejet J5780 Sensor not detecting paper

My alignment paper is printing, but when I feed it through the document feeder on top to align cartridges, like it asks me to, I get an error message after the paper goes through the feeder that no paper was detected. This causes an error message "alignment failed". I have done the troubleshooting available online and have determined that there is a bad sensor on the paper feeder, but the equipment is not very old. What do I do?

I would suggest putting the alignment sheet directly on the scanner glass bed rather than feeding it through the document feeder. See here for alignment details.

Officejet 7000 will not feed paper

My Officejet 7000 will not take the paper from the paper supply tray.
When I send a document to the printer it sounds normal as if the rollers are turning but after a few seconds it stops and the button with the paper icon flashes as if there is no paper (there is paper and I've reloaded and tried reprinting several times).
Just prior to the issue, the printer was in the process of printing a multi-page document. About half way through printing one of the pages I heard a 'clack' type sound. The next page nor any subsequent attempt would feed into the printer.
Any idea what is wrong and if it is worth fixing?

Try updating the printer firmware, the latest version should improve its paper handling.
Follow these steps to get the latest update for the printer and then check for any differencex:

Windows 7 Pro x64 does not detect HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor (accelerometer)

Hello there.
I installed win7pro x64 yesterday and already came across a serious problem that makes my way of using the notebook a bit dangerous for my precious data.
When I was working on HP-branded Vista 32bit (from recovery partition etc), there was a device called HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor together with HP ProtectSmart (or Protect Smart) software. In other words, the HDD accelerometer that parks HDD's heads when it "feels" it's falling or something, and software for it. It worked brilliantly.
Until I decided to install Win7... Then, surprisingly after a driver-install failure and taking a look at the Device Manager I noticed that there's no such device! I checked it three times, looked at every device's property, even reinstalled Vista 32bit back - it showed again - and installed Win7 - not detected again. There's nothing that has Device ID's HPQ004! I remember people saying that after fresh Windows install, there were 6 unknown devices or more. I had only 5. [Fingerprint device, 3x MemCard reader and IR receiver]. There was no accelerometer... Also, when I try to install the drivers/software, the windows pops up:
ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection: with text Property.AccelerometerNotPresent
and then another one saying something like Features were not installed because of installation error or unsupported feature.
So now I'm stuck with a notebook that is unsafe to travel with, because the disk is no longer protected
I already installed all the drivers available from HP page, even downloaded newest ones from Intel (chipset) etc.
Is there a solution to this? Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Windows 7 is officially out and available as RTM version, not beta, so I think HP should open support for it and release new drivers for win7! And most importantly, fix this issue ...

Well, thanks to myself, I fixed it. After some thinking I remembered that ACPI = BIOS-related. It appears that there is a problem with the newest (F16) BIOS.
F.16 changelog is below:
Version: F.16 A (26 May 2009) Fixes
Updates the Intel MRC Code to version 2.7.
Updates the Intel AHCI OP ROM to version iSrc 1.20_E.0012 11252008.
Updates the BIOS to support Microsoft Windows Vista Operating Systems with Service Pack 2 (SP2).
I went back to version F.14 and... boom! New (unknown) device found And guess what, it's ACPI/HPQ0004... So now my HDD is protected again ^^ yay!
I don't know which of these changes cause that, but it looks that that can be fixed.
I'll go back to F.16 again to see if the device will disappear and then contact HP support on that case.
EDIT: Well, F.16 breaks things again, so it's definetely a BIOS problem. Thanks for... umm... well... at least spread the word, guys I hope this helps if someone has the same problem.

HP Officejet 6500A Plus does not feed paper

HP Officejet 6500A Plus, Mac OS X 10.6.8,The printer does not feed paper. Then gives the message that 'printer is out of paper'. I have done all of the reset and cleaning procedures recommended on the HP web site. That does not correct the problem when I do 'Print Status Report'.Observing through the front with a flashlight, the paper feed mechanism comes down on top of the paper stack, but the rollers do not feed paper. Then the feed mechanism lifts up and the error message 'printer is out of paper' is displayed on the small screen on the printer. If a single sheet of paper is inserted deep into the printer so that it can be captured by the print rollers, then the printer produces a normal 'printer status report'.The problem appeared after printing some photos on official HP photo paper with new official HP cartridges. Hp pro 8600 error Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected .

hp pro 8600 error "Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected" for Copies from tray one . There has been no change in the paper always used in tray one. Prints documents with no problem from Tray One with same paper. Copies from Tray 2, same paper, no problem. Have restarted the printer, same error. When I try to copy using Tray one, the to be copied document does not feed, and the printer kicks out a blank page using Tray One Paper.

PhotoSmart3210 All in one "Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected."

All of a sudden i cannot copy any document with my 3210 All In One. I keep getting the message shown above on the screen.

I would like to help you with your Photosmart 3210. I understand that when you copy you see a message on the printer that says "Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected". Does this also happen when you print from the computer, or only when you copy? Have you tried copying a different size paper, and what size paper are you currently using?
Are you able to print a self test report? If you are unsure, please try, and let me know;
Load plain white paper into the tray.
Press the Setup button.
Press 1 to display the Print Report menu.
Press 1 again to select Self-Test Report. The self-test report prints.

Officejet j5780 not queing smoothly

I just got a new Officejet j5780...my old one would print jobs one right after the other (I could send 20 separate printing jobs, and there'd be no pause in between...the printer would simply keep up with the workload). Now, with this new one, the printer "settles in" after each job, and then "spooles up" for the next job, stretching out the printing time by minutes. What setting am I missing? Also...the Solution Center comes up each time I need to fax, but the Fax button won't respond. I have to manually put in the fax number, or use Speed Dial. any suggestions? Thank you!

It's resolved. It wouldn't find the printer by searching, so I manually entered the path.

Epson Perfection 48970 Scanner worked perfectly with iMac using MAC OS 10.6.8 and Photoshop CS. But that iMac was traded in for a new iMac, and now using MAC OS 10.8.5. PS CS is now inoperative for the upgraded operating system. Now working with Macbook Pro, MAC OS 10.6.8, and scanner works perfectly with the laptop, but NOT with Photoshop CS. The Epson doesn't show in the import mode, but the HP Officejet Pro 8500 does, which is a poor scanner at best. I have looked for the answer to this problem, but unable to solve the problem. I don't want to buy an upgrade version of Photoshop CS; I just want to covert some 35mm slides to paper photos, etc.

DeskJet 3745 cannot detect paper in tray

I recently bought a HP DeskJet 3745 at a garage sale. No problem installing on my Win 7 desktop.
However, when I attempt to print the printer will not do so. It says it is out of paper (even though there is paper in the tray).
My guess is that something is wrong with the paper sensor (or switch). I could clean it if I knew what I was looking for, but I can't see anything that could be the paper sensor. I tried to search for the part description online and found a site selling an "ADF Arm" that meets the description of the sensor, but it did not have a picture.
Any suggestions for what the sensor is or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. I do not mind having to disassemble the printer if needed.

Okay, I found the problem. After several failed attempts to print, the paper that was in the tray had a worn black slick spot from a roller spinning on top of it. The pick-up roller needed cleaning. It is the lone roller that is tucked under the main mechanism and is difficult to get to. Once I cleaned it, the printer works fine.
There is no paper sensor, the pick-up roller just pulls paper into the inkjet assembly, which has a trip switch. The single switch is used to detect paper jams as well as lack of paper in the tray (assuming the pick-up roller is clean).

My HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One keeps sending the messge" Out of paper,load paper and then press OK to start" even though I have paper already in my tray. It will not print and I don't know why. I understand that you're getting an 'Out of Paper' message when trying to print from your Windows 7 computer to your HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today to resolve this issue.
Out of Paper messages can be due to rollers issues, debris or paper in the paper path, or a media issue. To isolate and resolve this paper feed issue can I please have you follow the steps below.
To start troubleshooting can I please have you click here. Once the support document opens please run through Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3. Should the issue persists after running these three steps can I have you click here. Once the Paper Jam support document opens please just run through Solution one and Solution two. I understand that you're not actually getting a Paper Jam message on your printer, but as I previously mentioned, Out of Paper errors can be caused by a paper jam or debris in the paper path blocking the paper sensor. Therefore, it is crucial to check the carriage area and paper path for any debris or paper.

I've had this printer for awhile and it has worked perfectly.
Just out of nowhere...
I'm getting an error message that says "The Printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed" . A short animation plays but i can't figure out what it's tell me to do.

HP Wireless G Print Server not detected during installation

I have HP2101 wireless g print server to connect to my HP officejet 6210 and I have an HP computer using windows 7. when i put the dvd into computer, follow install instructions, it tells me to connect print server to the computer and wait for the pc to find it, nothing happens, it is not detected. the power cord is in, the mini usb is connected to pc and print server and thre is a green steady light on the power icon, but it does not detect. Help!
