HP Officejet Pro 8100 driver for Mac OS 10.9

I am totally frustrated
im usually v good with IT
I have spent the past 3 hrs trying to wirelessly connect my macbook pro to my new 8100
because it is a new mac, it has now disc drive
i have tried continuously to download the printer utility off the HP site (5 times) - it keeps referring to me making sure my printer is wirelessly connected
to do that i need the utility..... it is a loop from hell
i have connected direct via the USB - i can do v basic b/w printing. there are no options to even print in colour!!!!
im totally lost and frankly this is outragous

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are trying to connect your HP Officejet 8100 to your MacBook Pro running the Mavericks 10.9 Operating system. You are unable to install using a disc because your Mac does not come with a CD drive.
Because you are guys are using the Mavericks OS X you must install the printer using the Apple Updates. Please click on the link below, this document explains how to install the print driver on a Mac for a USB or a network connection. The OS X v10.9 Mavericks driver for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU). Additionally, you can perform basic print jobs using AirPrint without installing a driver.

Once you have installed the OJ 8100, you may notice the features you once had are limited or there are workarounds, for scanning with or without HP Software see below:

HP Officejet Pro 8100 - Not Printing

New HP Officejet Pro 8100 - driver installed for wireless network printing.
Printed Test Results - "No Problems Found....successful setup of your wireless printer".
However, when I try to print I can see the request in the print screen, but it says "Print file was not accepted". This is happening from the computer the driver was installed on (Mac OS X Ver 10.8.4.
When I try from another iOS device, I can see the printer, and can request the print job, It says its sending to the printer, but the job never shows up in the print que and doesn't print.
Help!!

Can we please get a driver for the HP Officejet Pro 8100 that is compatible with the Mac OSX 10.9? I bought the printer so that my roommate and I could share it to print wirelessly, but I am unable to do that without a compatible driver. Please develop one as soon as possible!

The Drivers are available via Apple Software Update,
In order to configure it wirelessly you may use the HP Easy Wireless Install app.
You may find a step by step guide in the following document:

If you experience any issues while trying to locate the pritner during the wireless configuration. restoring the network defaults for the printer can be done by pressing and holding both the Cancel ( ), the Wireless ( ), and the Power ( ) buttons for three seconds.

HT1444 Running 10.8.2 on MacBook Pro. Purchased Toshiba 1TB external drive. Calls for installing NTFS driver for Mac. Any concerns here?

My MacBook Pro is running Mountain LIon 10.8.2. I just purchased a Toshiba external hard drive offering USB 3.0 & 2.0. The NTFS driver for Mac is included. The compatability indication includes Lion ... but not yet ... Mountain Lion. Should I be concerned about loading this software?

Or you could just reformat the drive to exFat or FAT32 and then you won't need any additional software. Also, you can check app compatibility at www.roaringapps.com. I don't know if this includes any type of drivers.

HP Officejet Pro 8100 Wireless Connectivity Issue

Hi, I've just purchased the HP Officejet Pro 8100 and have not been able to connect via wireless to the home network. I've tried connecting to 3 different routers and no success. Steps I took were as follows.
Steps:
1. Insert Driver CD
2. Install HP Driver Software
3. Follow on screen prompt for wireless connectivity
4. Was prompted to connect USB cord temporarily
5. Prompted to select SSID
6. Prompted to enter WPA Security Key
7. Screen saying your printer failed to join the following Wireless network.
8. Humored myself and read all the troubleshoots. No good.
9. Downloaded and Flashed new firmware to Printer. New Firmware installed. Still did not help.
*One thing to note: On the Failure to connect to Wireless network Error on Step #7 it says something about MAC address filtering and to enable the above MAC address. The funny thing is there is no MAC address supplied above. The field is blank. All that aside, MAC address is disabled in the first place anyway. Just wondering why the printer software doesn't know the printers own MAC address.
Attempted to setup printer on the following routers...

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Absolutely. It should be broadcasting its own SSID.

HP Officejet Pro 8100 unable to communicate with printer, but still prints

I have an Officejet Pro 8100 connected to a Windows XP SP3 computer via USB.
When installing I downloaded the latest drivers off the HP webiste and followed the instructions for installing the printer and connecting via USB. While installing I only installed the basic print driver.
The printer appeared to install correctly.
When printing (test page, or from other programs such as Word or Excell), the printer will actually print the requested document, however, an error box will pop up saying "Unable to communicate with printer". The only option on the error box is the cancel the current print job.
Before cancelling the print job, even though the printer actually printed the document, I can still see the document in the print queue until I click the "Cancel" button on the error box.
I have deleted the printer, uninstalled and reinstalled twice, but the issue persists.
Any ideas?

I hate to hear you are having issues. This could be caused by a port issue, bad USB cable/hub/switch connection, or possibly a spooler or driver issue. Click Here to run the print and scan doctor (select OS, then click the + sign beside utility diagnostic tools, click the download button next to print and scan doctor). If you would like to learn more about your product, Click Here.
Suggestions:
1. Run the print and scan doctor to identify any port issues
2. Connect unit directly to PC with new USB cable that meets specifications(no longer than 4-6ft).
3. Remove any hubs or switches if being used.

HP Officejet Pro 8100 - Washed out blacks in images / Dark blacks in text prints???

Here is my system: iMac Maverics OS, HP Officejet Pro 8100, Photoshop, Pages & Genuine inks.
I print a text page (Black and various colours) from Pages/Text Edit or any other text program and the colours are deeply saturated, blacks are black and I'm totally happy.
I print the exact same text, recreated in Photoshop, everything is washed out. Blacks are greyish, colours are pastel & it looks like it's been printed at 50% opacity.
I saved my Photoshop text mock up as a .Jpg .TIF .BMP and tried printing them in Pages & Mac Preview - same washed out results as when I print direct from inside Photoshop.
All my software is genuine, drivers are up to date. It's like HP use one process to print text and a whole other process to print images, **bleep** is going on???
Please advise on how to fix, if anyone else is having or has had similar issues.....

I see you're experiencing Photoshop colour issues. I would like to help.
It is possible you need to adjust the colour settings in Photoshop from RGB to CKMY.

HP officejet pro 8100 not printing documents when asked, and slow to respond.

My Officejet Pro 8100 has allways been used wireless. It allways had a lag when asked to print and producing the document. Often the unable to connect to printer message comes up, then shortly latter it started to print.
We have now switched to Vergin Media ISP. The printere was set up to the new network as before no problem. The router is lacated downstairs by by our TV where the cable enters the house. Our 2 pc's are now wireless due to this (one windows XP and one Windows 7). Then there's Ipads etc.
Conectivity is not a problem the pcs are located in our study with the printer upstairs. My Ipad works in the Garden so theres plenty of range. All devices are on the same conection.
The problem with slow printing is now worse. Ask to print and often nothing happens. Switch printer off/on and it may print the last comand of not. It may accept the next command to print or not. Indescrimnently it may print 'misssed prints' at any time.
Basically it cannot be relied on to print when asked to, really frustrating!! The printers wireless indicator is lit its conected to the network. Any ideas as this is a real pain. Remote printing from a phone is a no go as it probably wont happen.
We need to print and it happen.

I would like to assist you today with resolving the slow printing issue that you're experiencing with your networked HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter from your Windows computers and other devices. I understand that this issue began with your original router and now is occuring with your new network. I am going to run you through some troubleshooting steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Run Print and Scan Doctor:
To verify that your printer is properly detected on your Windows XP and Windows 7 computers I would like you to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on your computers and 'fix printing' issues for you. Should any driver, connection, or software conflict be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you.
Please click here to download the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. Please download this Tool on your Windows XP and Windows 7 computers.
Once the Tool has completed, please test printing again. Should the issue persist, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Powercycle Network:
First, unplug the power cable to your Router
Once your Router is unplugged, turn off your printer
Next, shut down your computer
After 30 seconds to 1 minutes, plug your Router back in
Next, turn on your printer
Turn on the computer
After a few minutes the internet connection will return. Please check on your Windows computers and ensure that you're able to browse to websites before continuing. Once the network is up and running again please test printing to check the printing speeds.
Should the issue persist, please proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Update Firmware:
There is chance that corrupted programming in your printer could be causing the slow printing issue. Therefore, I am going to have you update the Firmware Version on your printer.
Please click here to download the latest programming on your printer. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Follow any onscreen instructions to send the Firmware Update to the printer. This update can be run from either the Windows XP or Windows 7 computers.
Please test printing again to verify if everything is now working as it should be.

have an hp officejet pro 8100 and it does not print bar codes from UPS or USPS. Can you please please help? i have used my ipad, by HP G62-355DX Notebook and neither will give me printed bar codes. The balance of the mailing label do print, just not the bar code. It may be my imagination, by I believe it used to print thebar codes.

Try adding an alternate driver and try to print.
To use an alternate print driver for HP printers in Windows 7:
1. Click on the Start menu.
2. Click on Devices and Printers.
3. Click Add a Printer
4. Add a local Printer
5. Select Create a New Port
6. Select Standard TCP\IP port
7. Enter Printer IP address (Printer IP address can be found by printing network config page from printer
8. Under Manufacturer select HP and under printer select HP Officejet 8000 pirinter or Officejet 7410
9. Click apply and try printing

Officejet Pro 8100 problem with wireless setup on iMac OS 10.10.4

I have recently changed my router and now need to reconfigure the wireless settings on my Officejet Pro 8100. I have installed the latest firmware from HP. Apple updates says that I have the latest driver for the printer. The disk that came with the printer does not work with the iMac 10.10.4. How do I update the printer to work with the new router?

Officejet Pro K550 Driver Failure in 10.6.8 & 10.7.4

A coworker's HP Officejet Pro K550 has stopped printing. Initially the error codes from the front panel indicated a paper jam. After disassembly (which is NOT easy btw) and a complete cleaning, the printer still refuses to function. I can print test pages all day long by holding the Resume button on the front panel of the printer. However, once I send a page to the printer from Microsoft Word, Preview, or any other program, the printer seizes and both the Power and Resume button flash as if there is a paper jam. There is none as no paper comes out. Curiously, if I use a Generic PCL Printer driver instead of the HP Officejet Pro K550 driver, I can print in black and white just fine. I've tested this on laptops running 10.6.8 and 10.7.4 with the same results. I've reset the printing system on both machines with the same results. I'm officially out of ideas. Can anyone think of what's going on?

i get the exactly same error,
i can also print by Generic PLC driver,
or output a config test page by holding power and pressing red X once on the printer.
but i always get "drucker ist belegt" which means "printer is in use" error when i try hps mac osx K550 10.7 driver !
everything works (hp utility tools to calibrate etc. stuff) except for printing from whatever application i use
what the hell is happening here? and how can i get full funtionality back?
i already have Firmware version 20061019 SPP0013H which seems like the only one i could download-
but, although i would possibly need this firmware update-
there is no way to install the firmware update,
since clever people of HP decided not to leave a tool for osx lion users,
the manual for doing firmware updates is only written for 10.4.8 users (maybe half a dozen years ago?!)
i cant find a update firmware option anywhere although i see a firmwareupdate.task plugin which seems to be for hp printer utility.... but i cant use it sensefully ....
what are you up to? making me crazy? making people buy new stuff?
is there any solution in sight?

Can you print in B & W when a color cartridge is out of ink? I have a HP Officejet Pro 8100. I had a large B&Q project and turned the printer on and Magenta was dead. I could not find a way to print in B&W so I had to go out and buy a new cartridge. Help

Sorry that you are having a problem with the ink cartridge.
No, you will not be able to print without the color cartridges.
The color cartridges mix together with the black to form a true black print.
So you will need to replace the Magenta first, in order for the printer to finish processing.
