  • Printing problem - HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer, Red color fads on 4th copy

I have an HP HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer, and am trying to print 75 copies of a program for our event. After the first 5-6 pages the RED in my program starts to turn magenta. I have brand new HP ink, and am printing on HP Color Injet Paper. I have renectly replaced the Black/Yellow printhead (at least 6 months ago). At first when I cleaned the printheads, I could print 2 or 3 pages showing my RED color. Then turns back to magenta. When I received the test patterns after cleaning the print heads they are all perfect with no lines.
What is going on and how can I fix it?

    Hi TM1997,
I understand you have an Officejet 8500 Wireless that is not printing red properly, it keeps turning to magenta. I'm sorry to hear this, but I will definitely do my best to help you!
As I'm sure you saw, when replacing the black and yellow printhead, that there are two printheads in the Officejet 8500 and the second one controls the magenta and cyan. I would suggest that you first have a look through this Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues document. You can also manually clean your printhead with the steps in this 'The Following Printhead Appears to be Missing or Damaged' or 'The Following Printhead has a Problem... document.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909g All-in-One series, Printer Won`t print

The printer will not print from my computer running windows 7- 64bit.  I am connected wirelessly through a Lynksys router with both the computer and printer, Howerver; I cannot get the printer to print from the computer. I have tried reinstalling the software from the cd that came with the printer and I also downloaded and installed the most up-to-date software and  drivers from the HP site. Occasionally the printer will print out a job, but only when the computer is shutdown and restarted or sometimes after sitting in queue for a long period of time, but neither of these always work. I`m stumped.....

    Hi FGG,
I understand you're missing a driver for your Officejet Pro 8500 printer. I'd be happy to help you with this!
If you click here you can download the full software package for your printer, including the drivers. Just click next when the page loads (it should be able to detect your operating system) and then scroll down to where it says Driver - Product Installation Software, and proceed to download the HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver. I recommend saving it to your computer to make things easier as well.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - A909g printhead

The printer has not been 100% for a few weeks. It would align the printhead fine. When printing, it didn't always print everything - one time blues would be missing, another black would be missing. Received a message saying the ink was out of date. Picked up new ink yesterday, installed it and the printer went thru it's normal routine - cleaning and aligning. It would print the page which was not good and then realign again.
I read up on how to change the printheads. Problem is the printheads are stuck over to the right. I have pressed the * button and done anything else I could find. What do I do now?
    Carol Belles

    Hey @carolinva,
I understand that you're having print quality printhead related issues on your HP Officejet 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today in resolving the issue of not being able to remove your Printheads. Now I understand that you have already tried new cartridges and run the cleaning and aligning on the product to no avail. At this point you have determined that the printheads are defective.
Just so you are aware there are two printheads in your product. There is a Black and Yellow Printhead and a Cyan and Magenta Printhead. Because your quality issue is affecting blues and blacks than both printheads may be defective. The printheads run for about $64.99 a piece plus tax in the United States. Also, there is a chance that you could replace both printheads and the issue not be resolved because it's a hardware failure of your ink system. Therefore, the next step would be to replace the printer. New printers do not use the same ink systems as your Officejet 8500 printer so the Printheads would do you no good if you have to replace your product.
Part Number for HP 940 Black and Yellow Printhead: C4900a
Part Number for HP 940 Magenta and Cyan Printhead: C4901a
I'm going to provide you steps on how to properly remove the printheads in your product. Because your printheads failed to initially move to the left I'm going to have you start by running a power reset.
    Step 1: Power Reset:
With your printer powered on, disconnect your power cable.
After 30 seconds, plug your power cable back in to the printer.
Your printer should turn on automatically.
Once the printer returns to the ready state, follow the steps below.
Replacing the Printhead for HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer Series (A909)
Please let me know if the steps provided resolve your issue. Should you have further issues be sure to let me know. Good luck!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 a910 wireless connectivity issues?

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 a910 and It was working fine. I got a new router and it was still working fine. Second night of having everything set up it stops working and  shows as offline on my computer. It will print information about the printer from thecomputor but will not print out any other documents.

I'm having the same issues. In my case, first I updated my MacBook Pro to OS X 10 Mavericks. A few days ago, the Actiontec gateway router provided by my ISP Frontier Communications ceased to function. Frontier sent a Netgear 7550 gateway router to replace it. I installed it according to directions. My email capability and home network went down. Frontier helped to restore the email but the techs I worked with couldn't figure out what to do to restore my wireless network. The router's setup would not allow me to replace the WPA Shared Key with the wireless network password I used previously. So, I updated the ASUS range extender and all the wireless devices that were on my home network with the new WPA key. Both printers, the Officejet Pro 8500A 910 and a Brother wireless laser, will not network. The Officejet blue wireless icon no longer lights up. I uninstalled the Officejet's software and then downloaded and installed the latest software and drivers for the Officejet Pro 8500A 910.  The HP  Network Configuration printout indicates that its network status is ready and the active connection type is wireless. I had it connected to my Mac with a USB cable so I could reinstall the software and drivers. When I disconnected the cable, I lost connection to the Officejet and couldn't print. the HP utility could not establish a wireless connection even though I did input all the new router settings. The Officejet thinks it's wireless but it isn't. I can only conclude that my Officjet is delusional. It's not all that old, but could it be ready for the all-in-one graveyard?

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909a - setup can't find printer, HP Network Diagnostic does

    Windows XP SP3
    HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a CB022A
    DLM1FN1006BR
I have been fighting with this printer for the past week, put at least 40 hours into trying to fix this alone. I will never buy another HP product for my office again.
Windows can find the printer on the network. HP Network Diagnostic can find the printer on the network. But the latest version of the installation for the printer, that I downloaded from the website last week, refuses to find the printer on the network. I would do this without the HP software if I could but I need the functionality of hitting the scan button on the printer and it converting those scanned documents to PDF.
    Here's a list of things I've tried:
Finding the printer by IP in the setup (doesn't find it)
Using the HP Scrub tool for this printer at all levels (L1-L4) MULTIPLE times followed by deleting the files in %temp% and then reinstalled the full software package.
Disabled all services and startup items.
Disabled the Windows firewall. Tried with Windows firewall installed as well.
Restarted the HP services in services.msc
    Updated MSIEXEC.
    Un registered Re-registered the msiexec
    Re-registered ATL.dll
Ran subinacl to make sure all permissions are set properly.
What I don't understand is why the HP Network Diagnostic can find it and the install can't. It seems to me that without installing all the HP software, I have no way of using the scan button to scan documents - the scanner just says "Select Computer" followed by "No Scan Options".
Can anyone tell me what I've missed in troubleshooting?

Bump? Anyone have any sort of advice? Or is everyone seeing that I've followed every step in the HP Support site and nobody knows what else to suggest?

  • Hp OfficeJet Pro 8500 Installation Troubleshooter not correct

I'm having trouble re-installing my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A e-AIO printer onto my home network that I use to connect to my Toshiba laptop with OS 8.1.   The HP trouble shooter tells me to determine if the printer is on the network by printing out the Wireless Network Test report.
       I did this.
The Trouble shooter then tells me to look at the report to see if I get a PASS under the Connectivity heading.   Problem is there IS NO Connectivity heading on the Wireless Network Test report.
I'm stumpted!  I don't know what to do when the "Troubleshooter" doesn't give me correct information!
    I welcome any suggestions!
And, YES, I've checked the ip address; turned the printer off and on again; and ultimately - fussed and cussed!

    Hello Aardvark1
I will insert my responses in underlined blue next to your questions or statements :
I understand that you are having issues with the HP trouble shooter. Yes, I am!  I would like to help with this problem.  I surely hope so!
The trouble shooter is for all HP printers. I understand   This makes it very generic and not all the reports are the same for each printer.   It would seem that the Trouble shooter would be for the printer on which the Trouble Shooter is installed.  I suppose having a trouble shooter for each of the printers HP makes  would be a problem for HP!
I agree this can be frustrating.
You mentioned that you have checked your printers IP address. If your printer has a valid IP address then there is no longer a need for the missing Connectivity heading on the Wireless Network Test Report.  Oh!  OK.  That is a good thing, right??!
If the Printer was not connected it would not have an IP address. That makes sense.
This brings me to my question. You are using the HP trouble shooter, are you having issues with the installation of your printer on the Toshiba?  I'm having problems with REINSTALLING the hp OfficeJet Pro 8500 AIO printer.  I removed it because that was what I had been instructed to do in the past.  Then simply reinstalled it.  But, this time, I cannot get it to reinstrall.   If yes, then perhaps i can be of further assistance.  Is your assistance locatedf somewhere within the window in which you replied?    I don't see any instructions or directions - what am I missing?    Where do I go to discover how to get the printer reinstalled?    Will the directions appear when I click on "Accept as Solution"?   Because I don't want you to think the issue is resolved if it is not.  And by clicking on "Accept as Solution", I will be indicating there is no longer a problem!  (Did that make sense?)  Therefore, I am going to await your reply before I click on "Accept as Solutiion".

  • HP OFFICEJET PRO 8500 PRINTER - new printhead installed - "checking device" won't shut off.

My  magenta  cartridge was not printing. All I got  on the printed sheets was red ,yellow and pink colors. I  replaced the magenta cartridge and the same thing happened. I then replaced to  ccyan cartridge with the same results.  I searched the tutotials and installed a new magenta/cyan printhead.
Now the "checking device" message  won't go off. After about an hour I tried to turn the printer off and received the message that  the mechanical operations coud not be turned off.
After another hour I just unplugged the printer.

    Hello kenishal,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Sorry to hear that the Officejet Pro 8500 is not printing its colors correctly, usually this type of issue is resolved by replacing the printhead. Hopefully we can get the printer past "checking device" to see if it has resolved the problem.
You can try removing and installing the printheads and the cartridges again, here is a walk through guide: 'Initializing' Displays on the All-in-One for Longer Than Expected During Setup.
If that helps get the printer to finish "checking device" and you are still having the missing or incorrect color issue, take a look through this support page: Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality.
Let me know if those suggestions have helped.

One for printing, one for scanning and one for faxing. When you select the entry showing Fax in the Kind column, the supporting fax driver is selected.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Not Printing & Heads won't clean.

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910. It has not been used for about 2 months until yesterday, but was left powered on. The Black, Yellow and Cyan carts were getting a bit low and my wife want to print a few dozen pages of black text. I had a HP 940 Black cart to hand so I replaced it. She printed about 2 dozen Word pages in draft format which uses less ink. They printed OK, but when she went to print more, the print got fainter with each page until they were coming out of the printer totally blank then when the cyan ran out the printer stopped printing blank pages all together. I installed new HP Cyan and Yellow carts, but the printer continued to spit out blank pages. I printed a Quality Diagnostic Page and it showed one column of blocks in Test Pattern 2 missing completely and some white streaks in at least one of the colored blocks. At this point the Ink cart levels were K=90, Y=90, M=50, C=90. The Print Head Health was KY=Good, MC=Good. At this point I ran an Alignment and the report showed all colors except Cyan which was completely missing. I had remembered from a few year ago, that this is one simple way to show if color heads were not printing. I then performed 3 successive level 1, 2 and 3 cleanings, and each time the cleaning report showed less color until only faint yellow showed on the printout. Also the alignment now only shows faint traces of yellow.  I suspect the heads need to be either replaced or removed and cleaned manually. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks very much in advance. Peter B.

Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I see that you are having some issues with printing from your Officejet 8500A. I can help with that. This document outlines how to troubleshoot print quality issues with your printer. If that fails then this document will assist you with cleaning the printhead. If after following those documents then the printer itself is going to need to be replaced. You can contact HP support by clicking on this link. On the next page scroll to the bottom and fill out the form. When that is completed you will find some information on how to contact HP directly. If this resolves your issues then please let others know by clicking on Accept as Solution below my post.

  • Cyan ink won't print on my officejet pro 8500

Windows 7 64-bit.  But printer does the same thing from my XP computer.
I get no error messages from my printer.  Nothing at all has changed - but the blue has just stopped printing.  no upgrades, new programs, etc.  EVerything is the same as it was yesterday.
I have followed the troubleshooting document, and run thru the first 2 levels of printhead cleaning.  I have no streaks anywhere, just a missing blue, even the the cartridge is 1/2 full.  One day it printed, and the next day it stopped.  Same paper, etc.
I have hard reset the printer, I have hard reset it with the cyan cartridge out, then put it in when I get the error msg that its missing, I've restarted my computer (it does the same thing from my other computer though, so its not the computer).  I have read all the HP maintenance instructions and follow them.
    Suggestions???

What is the model or product number of your printer?  If you have the Officejet Pro 8500 All-In-One A909a, you can take a look at this document, which describes cleaning the printheads.  How long have the ink cartridges been in the printer?  The cartridges should have an expiration date on them.  If they have been in a while, I would replace all of them, then begin troubleshooting.
Please let me know if this helps.

Is DHCP still active on your router?  The printer will have to have DHCP active.
169.254.x.x means the printer sees the router but is not getting a valid IP from it.

  • Can't install Officejet Pro 8500 A910 on the network in my Windows XP laptop

Everything installs normally except connection options fail to detect the printer when the network connection is selected. The prompt that follows for network type also fails when wired (Ethernet) is selected. Firewalls are turned off during installation.
The network printer can be seen by the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility. Using the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility to check connection indicates software missing, connection verified, and test print failed.
The Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Embedded Web Server can be opened from the web browser by entering the IP address.
Changing the printer port to the IP address allows the printer to work but does not enable all of the all-in-one functions such as scanning or running HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910.exe.
Turning the power off and back on to the printer, computer, and router did not fix the problem. Re-installing the software several times did not fix the problem.
The installation works normally with other computers on the same network that run Windows Vista or Windows 7.
So far, customer support has not been able to help.

    Resolved, not solved.
I talked to HP product support. The Officejet Pro 8500 A910 will not install on Windows XP (at least the Home Edition) when networked through a router. It will install through USB. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it with only USB connected to clean out all the network printer/scanner information. Product support claimed it would install through an ether net cable connected between the printer and computer but this does little good if you need internet access.
