HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a Series - printing question

I have a problem with a printing application within QuickBooks and I need some help. I can print anything in QuickBooks except for deposit slips. I can print checks, invoices, reports, deposit summaries, and anything else in QuickBooks. Any reason why?  I recently bought this new printer (Dec. 2010) and have had no issues except this one.  Please help!!
Thank you in advance for your help.
Lori1007

I have a print problem that I've not seen addressed anywhere else on my OJ A909a printer.
To conserve ink usage I print most everything in the draft mode using the black ink only option. Recently I've noticed that my printer misses printing a few characters on 2 or 3 lines in the upper right area of every page. If I try the "normal" or "best" modes the same area will print ok sometimes and smudgy other times. All 4 ink cartriges are new and purchased from HP directly. I'm assuming that if this was a printhead problem that it would show up in other places as well. I am still using the original printheads that came with my printer when i purchased it in Aug. 2009. The HP diagnostic tool found no problems at all. Does anyone have any ideas about this. My HP Warantee has run out but my Staples extended warantee is still in force so I'd like to resolve this ASAP or return to Staples for action. I am new to this site/forum and thank you, in advance, for any suggestions / solutions you offer to me..

My HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a Series Printer is leaking black ink in the front right corner of the printer. Leak seems to be very slow.  I also can't find any documentation on how to take the bottom portion of the printer apart to investigate the leak.

Welcome to the HP Community @dtr00 ,
I saw your post about the black ink leaking in the front right corner of your Officejet Pro 8500 model. As we do not have service guides to help you disassemble the unit, and don't recommend it, I would suggest calling us directly to see what your printer options are with HP.

The A909 series of Officejet 8500 printer's don't work with ePrint. You can use the ePrint Home and Biz app for Android and Semien devices, or the ePrint app for iOS devices. You cannot, however, use ePrint itself. Sorry for the confusion. Below are links to the ePrint Mobile apps compatablity list and FAQ. Hope that helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a Series - Not printing Cyan ink

    Hi,
I am having an issue with my HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a Series (about 4-5 years old) where it has stopped printing Cyan completely. I have had this issue about 2-3 months ago which was solved by cleaning the cyan and magenta print head. After cleaning the print head this time it has not solved the issue.
If I dab the print head onto a lint cloth cyan and magenta ink comes out so I don't think it's an issue with the ink getting to the printhead so have ruled dried up pipes out.
I have done the standard troubleshooting with no luck. According to the print quality diagnostics page all cartridges are at atleast 30% and above and Printhead health claims to be 'Good'.
This all leads me to believe it must be some kind of technical issue rather than physical, something wrong with the printhead chip not allowing it to dispense Cyan ink?

    Hello @12MattC,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are not able to print in Cyan ink on your HP Officejet 8500 A909a, usually you can clean the printheads and the Cyan will come back, but this time that did not help.
I would like you to make sure you complete ALL steps listed here: Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in... (Printer listed is the 6500, same steps apply to the 8500)
Please let me know the outcome, if you are still unable to print in Cyan ink call our technical support at 800-474-6836 to see what options they have available for you. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Constant Printing Restart on a networked HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909N Series printer

    Hello,
I'm curious if anyone has run into this problem before.  I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n Series printer that I have setup as a network printer.  This has been accomplished through a print server.
I installed the printer's drivers based upon the cd that came with the printer, in the box.
The problem is that whenever a user prints, say it's a simply one page document... the printer will repeatedly print that single page until it runs out of paper.  I have stopped/restarted the print spooler.  I've rebooted the printer and the print server.  I have deleted the drivers and readded them.  I've tried installing drivers from HP's website and then installing those.  I have attempted to delete the printer from the server and start from scratch.
When I monitor the print queue, I can see the service restart after each document prints.  I can't figure out how to get this to stop.
Does anyone have a suggestion; or has anyone run into this problem?  I'm not sure which forum to put this in.  I chose the Networks/Wireless forum, even though this is running on a wired network with wireless disabled.
    I certainly appreciate any asistance.
    -Craig

It ended up being an issue with the port.  I had used the same port as the last HP printer that I replaced.  This printer needs to run on a TCP/IP port, and not an HP port.
    Problem solved.
Oh, and it was wired, with wireless disabled.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Series Print error

My printer worked fine just last night, now this morning I get error messages in the print queue. I have been searching for a solution all morning and still haven't been able to fix the problem. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the printer, checked to see if all drivers are updated, checked the usb connection, restarted the print spooler, as well as make sure the print queue is empty, and I still get this problem. I can print a self test page from the printer itself, but not from my computer to the printer. The copy section of the printer works fine as well.

I know this is an old post question, but i will answer it because this might help others searching anew.
If you are connected wirelessly, check your modem/router. An outmoded router will give you a world of trouble - as it did for me.  I suffered with this printer for many years, and solved the problem by reconfiguring the printer to NEVER go into sleep mode, and giving it a static IP address. WHile this is fine for 8500s and older printer, the new 8600 series does NOT allow you to by pass sleep mode now - you get 15 minutes on, max, so this is not a good solution for any newer printer.
A new modem from my ISP and a new external router (netgear nighthawk) solved my problems immediately.  The printer sleeps, it wakes up, no installing/reinstalling software, etc.  It's easy. Printer is never offline, never lost.   I got this solution from a smart HP techie in Ontario, Canada and I wish I had called  when I first bought my 8500 as it would have prevented a lot of frustration.  Modems/routers are changing all the time, so a 2 year old modem-router combo was problematic. If you are suddenly having problems with your printer, it's probably because your router has become outdated.
One more thing - if you are still having problems with a new router, disable your firewall system and then reinstall the software.  I had to do this with one of my computers, but not all (and I have no idea why the difference).
The only issue with the tech help is the limited timeline of 1 year from purchase date.  After that you're on your own.  I was told that HP has just a smattering of people manning the forums, but a boatload manning the phoneline help.  They use LogMeIn123 technology to physically take over your computer and look at the settings for your printer. Much easier than forums or DIY help.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a won't let computer boot up

I have an Officejet Pro 8500 A909a series connected to my HP computer running Windows XP Home. It was
working perfectly. Now it won't let the computer boot while it's connected to the computer. I can unplug the
USB cable from the computer and it boots fine. I can then plug the USB back in and the printer prints fine. I
ruled out bad USB ports as everything else USB works fine in the same ports. I put a brand new cable on and
had same results. I rebooted the printer and computer, with same results. I uninstalled the printer and drivers and
reintsalled with same results. Computer freezes at the screen where it askes you to use the up and down arrows
to select OS or wait for it to count down to 0. With printer unplugged it boots perfectly. This just started about
4 days ago. New printer. HP Support was at a loss when I did the live chat. Can anyone help?

    Hi,
The problem seems to lie in the installer, which has an unusual bad behaviour.  The installer puts the 8500 a909a in the list of USB  bootable devices.  (Not good!!!)
When the printer is disconnected it isn't a problem.  When the printer is connected the computer tries to boot from the printer and the computer hangs.
When I found the printer in the BIOS list of USB bootable devices I DISABLED that item in that list. Then it booted normally.
But now the BIOS takes an extra 30 seconds or so but boot up seems to be preceeding normally.
The guys on the CHAT and PHONE lines didn't even imagine the installer might be a problem so their advice was useless. They were blaming the computer.  More importanly, they didn't have a way to escalate the problem. They  had no capacity to respond in a flexible manner. It was like dealing with unhelpful staff in the county clerk's office.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a Print Cancelled when printing borderless A4

    Hi
We have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a that normally works very well. We need to print  a brochure in full colour on A4 borderless and the printer starts printing and then cancels the job itself after printing about a fifth of the page. I have tried all different printing options and it works fine if there is a print margin but will not work for borderless. This applies to printing from all different applications (Microsoft and Adobe).
We urgently need to print the brochure so a speedy resolution would be gratefully received.
    Thanks in advance.

I am having a similar problem printing a two-sided 3-fold brochure in full color. The first side prints normally, but the second side prints two fo the three panels and then printing cancels on the third. I am printing from a Windows 7 laptop over a Wifi connection onto an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless printer. A solution would be much appreciated!

The pad will print to any airprint compatible printer.  Hp makes several, but i do not see yous on the list.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909a - setup can't find printer, HP Network Diagnostic does

    Windows XP SP3
    HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a CB022A
    DLM1FN1006BR
I have been fighting with this printer for the past week, put at least 40 hours into trying to fix this alone. I will never buy another HP product for my office again.
Windows can find the printer on the network. HP Network Diagnostic can find the printer on the network. But the latest version of the installation for the printer, that I downloaded from the website last week, refuses to find the printer on the network. I would do this without the HP software if I could but I need the functionality of hitting the scan button on the printer and it converting those scanned documents to PDF.
    Here's a list of things I've tried:
Finding the printer by IP in the setup (doesn't find it)
Using the HP Scrub tool for this printer at all levels (L1-L4) MULTIPLE times followed by deleting the files in %temp% and then reinstalled the full software package.
Disabled all services and startup items.
Disabled the Windows firewall. Tried with Windows firewall installed as well.
Restarted the HP services in services.msc
    Updated MSIEXEC.
    Un registered Re-registered the msiexec
    Re-registered ATL.dll
Ran subinacl to make sure all permissions are set properly.
What I don't understand is why the HP Network Diagnostic can find it and the install can't. It seems to me that without installing all the HP software, I have no way of using the scan button to scan documents - the scanner just says "Select Computer" followed by "No Scan Options".
Can anyone tell me what I've missed in troubleshooting?

Bump? Anyone have any sort of advice? Or is everyone seeing that I've followed every step in the HP Support site and nobody knows what else to suggest?

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909a WIN7-64 Won't Recognize Scanner

I purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a, Model No. CB022A, Ser. No. [edited Serial Number by Moderator] in 2010.  Everything has been
fine until last week when I flashed the firmware update DLM1FN1344AR from the updates section on your website for
my model all-in-one printer.  The only problem, and what precipitated my installation of this updated driver software and firmware, is that recently when I diconnect the printer from my Dell laptop so I can take the laptop with me to meetings, I have to reinstall the driver software so the laptop will recognize the printer.  Now everything seems to work except the scanner.  My computer will not recognize the scanner from the HP Solution Center, even though I can use the webscan utility to scan, as well as the buttons on the front of the printer (as long as it saves to a connected flashdrive) and my computer shows that the device driver software is installed and the device is installed, as is the digital imaging monitor.  Instead, I get an error message giving me this error:
"8,[(1,0,-2147221164)]" and saying that the scanner device was not found.
I have tried every suggested solution offered in the HP Solution Center's "Guided Solution" and in HP's online  troubleshooting tab.  I have uninstalled the device, as well as the latest (full) driver software, more than a
dozen times, using the "corporate scrubber" deep uninstall to do so (yes, all levels).  Nothing seems to work and I
suspect that the driver software is, for some reason, not installing the scanner driver.  I am using Windows 7 Home
Premium (with all the latest updates installed) and the printer is networked using a wired Ethernet connection.
I have also tried turning off the printer and my router several times, but that does not work either.  I have tried
the Print and Scan Doctor tool, the "Windows 7 Critical Update to Enhance Reliability of Network Connection," I've
deleted all the files in the temp folder, and I've also tried the bdp_scan fix suggested by Stephen McMaster at
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/The-HP-imaging-device-was-not-found-Er... None of those worked for me.
I'm hoping you can help fix the scanner portion of my all-in-one printer so that it will run from the HP Solution Center once again.  Perhaps there is a separate driver file for the scanner, besides bdp_scan, that I can download and install so that the HP Solution Center will recognize the scanner?  Should I try connecting with a USB cable, reinstalling the full driver file, then install again using my Ethernet connection?  It seems that that is the only thing I haven't tried, but if the drivers are different, I'm not sure that will resolve the problem.  More than one computer, on more than one level, use the same printer, so I really want to keep it networked.

HP Officejet pro 8500 won't print and keeps asking for a proxy setting. Help.

    Hi,
Can you confirm that you have an Officejet 8500a or Officejet 8500? On the 8500a model, you can set the networks proxy address and port setting from the front panel of the printer (setup>Webservices setup>proxy). If you are unsure what your proxy settings are you'll need to contact your network admin. If your network uses a proxy users name and password for all devices, you need to enter this information along with the proxy address and port in the printers embedded web server. Type the products IP address into an internet brownser window (printer must be connected to the same network as PC). Select the network tab, and than look for the proxy settings option. Enter in the information and click apply. Once the networks proxy information has been correctly inputed into the embedded web server, try printing again. If unsuccessfully, you might try reinstalling the printer software after uninstalling it. Hope this helps!
