Hp officejet pro 8500 will not print alignment page

Hi, I saw that others on this thread where having similar problems and I was wondering if anyone could help.
I have been having trouble with my HP Office Jet Pro 8500 Wireless (A909g series) printer with the print heads. Initially, it stopped printing in blue so I followed all of the steps for cleaning the print head ect.  At one point I had removed the print head and reinserted it and at that point, I started to get the "alignmnet failed" message.  I just purchased a new M/B print head, and while it now prints in blue when a test page is printed, I still get an alignment failure notice when it tries to align the print head.  In addition, it does not print the full alignment page, only the top colored lines.  While I can print, it always runs an alignment afterwards, again failing.  I would apprecaite any help you could provide.  This printer has been great until now, and I do not want to waste anymore ink trying to print and it failing the alignment everytime.  I am running Windows 7 professional.  Thank you.

Hello , Welcome to the thread!  I understand that your HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One A909a Printer is experiencing Printhead and Alignment failures. Because you have already replaced both the Cyan and Magenta Printhead (twice) and Black and Yellow Printhead in the past and the issues continue to occur over time I believe that the Printhead sensor or print system within the actual printer is going. Should this occur then print system issues, such as Alignment, Printhead, cartridge, quality, etc issues will occur and will usually become worse over time. Therefore, rather then replacing the Printheads it may be time to replace the actual printer. With that being said, there are a few troubleshooting steps that I would like you to complete to resolve this issue.   To start, please click here . Once the support document opens please review all of the listed Solutions and sub-steps to ensure that all steps have been completed. Should the issue persist, then a Firmware Update may be needed on your printer. However, I do need to know what Operating System you're using on your computer in order to provide you with the correct Firmware Update. The Firmware is the internal programming within your printer. It controls what your printer does and how your printer does it. If there is a corruption within the internal programming in your machine, your HP Officejet may not respond correctly.   Please respond to this post with the result of your Alignment Failed troubleshooting. Should the issue persist, be sure to include your Operating System in your response so I can provide you with the additional Firmware Update. I look forward to hearing from you!

Do you have the 64 bit version of WIn 7?  This thread suggests printing from the 64 bit Vista (and WIn 7 would be similar) is an issue in Quicken 2008 and 2009.  The thread suggests there is a solution but the link requires registering for the Quicken forum and that did not work for me this afternoon.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Not Printing & Heads won't clean.

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910. It has not been used for about 2 months until yesterday, but was left powered on. The Black, Yellow and Cyan carts were getting a bit low and my wife want to print a few dozen pages of black text. I had a HP 940 Black cart to hand so I replaced it. She printed about 2 dozen Word pages in draft format which uses less ink. They printed OK, but when she went to print more, the print got fainter with each page until they were coming out of the printer totally blank then when the cyan ran out the printer stopped printing blank pages all together. I installed new HP Cyan and Yellow carts, but the printer continued to spit out blank pages. I printed a Quality Diagnostic Page and it showed one column of blocks in Test Pattern 2 missing completely and some white streaks in at least one of the colored blocks. At this point the Ink cart levels were K=90, Y=90, M=50, C=90. The Print Head Health was KY=Good, MC=Good. At this point I ran an Alignment and the report showed all colors except Cyan which was completely missing. I had remembered from a few year ago, that this is one simple way to show if color heads were not printing. I then performed 3 successive level 1, 2 and 3 cleanings, and each time the cleaning report showed less color until only faint yellow showed on the printout. Also the alignment now only shows faint traces of yellow.  I suspect the heads need to be either replaced or removed and cleaned manually. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks very much in advance. Peter B.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 was not printing.

    HP Officejet Pro 8500
It started nothing was printed on a paper.  Completely white not even a hint of ink.
Ink level were all low.  I bought new black and color cartridges and changed it all out.  I unplugged all wiring for 24 hours.
    I reconnected all wiring.  Reboot.
Now the printer screen said alignment failed.  Refer to device documentation for details.

  • Officejet Pro L7590 will not print in black

I have an All in One Officejet Pro L7590.  When I first got the printer 3 months ago, everything was printing perfectly.  Now, out of nowhere, it will not print in black.  It only prints in color.  I have done all the aligning, printhead cleaning, changing cartridges, etc.  I am at a loss as to what to do.  Has anyone had this problem with this model?  Can anyone help?  Thank you.

Thank you so much for responding.  After (3) HP printers all having the same difficulty and support not knowing what the problem was, (also many hours with Support) I determined it was the printheads also.  The printheads don't seem to last very long and can be more costly than the printer itself if you have to keep replacing them.  I changed over to a laser jet.  No printheads needed.  And I have not had any problems so far. Just need to replace the ink cartridges when they run out.  I have the HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7580-Will not print black ink after I have replaced cartridge.

I Have an Officejet Pro L7580. It worked fine until I replaced the black ink cartridge. After replacing it I cannot print in black. I printed 1 or 2 sheets when first replaced-then it stopped (only the black will not print). After a hard reset it printed 1 or 2 sheets then stopped (printing the black). The quality test page did not print any black and there were globs of black ink on the page. The color prints fine and it show a full black cartridge. Followed multiple troubleshooting steps, to no avail.

    Hi melissaccss,
I see you have replaced a cartridge and can no longer print black ink. I appreciate the troubleshooting you have done so far, but please take a look at the following document to see if you have done all that can be done; Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems.
If the issue persists, I recommend calling HP and letting the know the issue as well as the steps you have already completed. It may be helpful to even let them know you completed all of the steps in HP document #c01957673.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 will not print multiple copies

When I first set up my HP Officejet Pro 8600 I could print multiple copies.  Not sure when, how, or why but I can no longer print more than one copy of any document at a time regardless if it is one page or 100 pages.   I tried to update the drivers but the update failed as it said it could not uninstall the printer. When I did the error reporting it said there was no solution.
My OS is Window XP Home
The printer is connected via network.
I print mainly from MS Word 2010 and Adobe PDF files and I have the same issue from either program.

Since the drivers and software refuses to update automatically, force it to. Uninstall all of the printer software and install it back using a fresh download. That will ensure that you have the latest driver and software for the printer installed and eliminate the need for updates for a while. I'll link them below. If that doesn't fix the problem with multiple documents not printing, try using an alternate driver for the printer. I'll link those instructions below. Let me know what happens.

  • Officejet pro 8625 will not print

Just purchased this printer. Scanning, faxing, email to printer all works fine. When I try to print any document it spools then deletes the print job as if done but doesn't print. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, run the diagnostic test and nothing is fixing it. Very frustrating and on the verge of returning the printer to Costco!

Hello , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're not able to print from your Windows Vista computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this printing issue. Because you are able to scan from your computer I do not believe that the issue that you're experiencing is connectivity or software related. Rather, it does sound like a driver conflict is occuring between your Windows computer and your printer. To confirm if this is the case, can I please have you follow the steps below to install an alternate print driver on your HP Officejet. You will not lose any functions by utilising this alternate driver.   Step 1: Clear Temp Files: Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling BinPlease proceed to the next step.  Step 2: Load Alternate Driver: Please click here to download the Officejet driverOnce the download is complete you may get a prompt to Run the download. If you see the Run prompt, please allow it to Run.An extraction should now occur. Once the extraction is complete an installation window may pop open. Please close any install windows. You do not want to run an installation.Next, click on your Start menu. In the 'search programs and files' box type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the Temp folder opens locate the 7z folder. Click on this folder to open it. It should include files that say OJ860At the top of this folder you will see a file path bar. It may show something like 'Computer- Local Disk C - Users - AppData - Local - Temp - 7z . . . ' Left click on the right hand side of this file path bar at the top. The file path should now highlight.Right click on the highlighted file path and select CopyClose the Temp folderClick on your Start menuSelect Devices and PrintersRight click on your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One
Left click on Printer PropertiesLeft click on the Advanced tabLeft click on New DriverWhen the New Driver window opens please hit 'Next' until you see a list of Manufacturers and PrintersClick on the 'Have Disk' button on the bottom rightWhen the 'Install from Disk' window opens, simply right click on the file path bar and 'Paste' in the file path we previously copied.Click OKWhen prompted choose the HP Officejet 8600 Printer and click 'Next' until the Add Driver window closesUnder Printer Properties select Apply, but don't hit OKSelect the General tabRename your printer back to HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One
Hit OK Now that the alternate Officejet driver has been loaded, please test printing to confirm if the printing issue has been resolved. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Will Not Print Wirelessly

Hi.  I have read other threads on this forum with suggested fixes from HP employees and tried them.  I have run the tool which found no errors.  My firewall is off.  I have installed the latest Adobe and uninstalled then reinstalled the printer software.  I have followed instructions in book re: turning off computer, router, printer, etc.  I can see the IP address for the printer in IE.
Still, this brand new printer will not print wirelessly or otherwise from my hp laptop.  VERY frustrating.  I have spent hours trying work arounds for a brand new computer.  I would greatly appreciate a response regarding how to resolve this problem.  Thank you.

I have seen cases where a troubled install went through flawlessly after the computer was reimaged.  That may be an option to consider.
I did want to make sure that you had the most current firmware version and it looks like you do.
Before a reimage, you could uninstall Officejet Pro 8600 programs (if there are any) and download and install the drivers for your printer from hp.com.  Click here for the HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver.  By doing this, you would have the most up-to-date drivers.  Sometimes a download will work where a disk does not.  It you do decide to reimage, I highly recommend the above download for the installation.

  • New Officejet Pro 6830 will not print via USB connection. It scans great to PC. It copies.

New HP Officejet Pro 6830 for user to have local USB printer/scanner at desk.  User runs win 7 64 bit on a network.  Raninstall through setup.exe.  Followed steps, connected printer via USB when it said to and it detected it and finished install. You can use HP Scan software and it scans to the PC perfectly.  It will not print from any application or even a testpage from the Printer Properties page.  If you go to the maintenance application it will print status and test page.  If you run HP Scan and Print doctor it does it's thing, gives all Green Check marks and lets you print a test page fine, but it stillwill not print even a test page from the printer properties page (start/Devices and  Pritners/right click on Officejet Pro 6830, select Printer Properties for Officejet Pro 6830 (not the Fax 6830), and click print test page.   It does not seethe printer.  It is a networked PC and has network defined HP network printers as well but user wanted a printer/scanner at his desk.   I actually took the unit and connected to my laptop which is same win 7 64 bit platform and it does the same thing.   I disable the virus protection to do the install so that is not an issue.  It clearly sees and installs the printer, andlike I said the HP Scan works fine so it is connected via the USB to the PC, but it will not print.   I have tried to install from the CD, and removed device and tried to install from the new downloaded drivers as well and it just does not want to print.I have conected to different USB ports, and like I said actually tried it on a different PC and had same results. Guidance certainly would be appreciated.

Hi , I see by your post that you can scan, but are unable to print over the USB connection. I would be happy to help you.
I have provided a document for setting Security permissions for printing to see if that will help. If the issue persists, reinstall the printer on the Administrator Account to see if you have the same results.Unlock Hidden Administrator Account and install the printer on this account:  Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD. CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'. Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter. Next, close CMD and restart your computer. When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it. If your computer automatically logs into your account after restart than go to your start menu click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator account we just unlocked.Under the Administrator account, install the printer software. Test the printer. To turn off the Admin account start back at step 1 and type in net user administrator /active:no.Please let me know the outcome. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Thank You.

  • Officejet Pro 8620 will not print old documents, only newly created ones

When I use the driver designed for the printer I can only print documents (Word, Excel, and Publish 2007) that are new, as long as I have not copied and pasted or inserted sheets from previously created documents.  It will not print any Outlook 2007 emails but it prints PDF's fine. Also, the printer works fine with driver for deskjet 990c but limits my options on page size and the margin on the right side won't change and are way to big for most of my documents.  Any thoughts?

  • Hp officejet pro k550 will not print a test page using control keys on the printer.

How do I print a test page to ensure that this printer is still operational?
I have tried all instructions for clearing the printer of possible jams, removed and reinserted the print heads, and cleaned the rollers.  When pressing the appropriate keys on the front of the printer, it will not print a test page.  and no error lights appear.
The printer has been connected to a different computer and ceased working last summer.  The printer would not respond to commands from the computer nor would it respond to keys on the front of the printer itself.  I can get the printhead to move using the controls on the front of the printer, however.  The printer is not currently connected to any computer and the nearest computer does not have the appropriate drivers installed.  Originally the printer was connected to a Dell desktop running Windows XP (sp 3).
