HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless (Vista x64) Will not print after Sleep Mode

Hello,
As the title says the printer does not print after coming back from sleep mode. Before entering sleep mode the printer works fine and is responsive. After coming back from sleep mode the printer is still responsive (buttons on the touch screen can be pressed) but unfortunately does not accept any print jobs. Currently, I restart the printer to get it to print. It is connected wirelessly through WRT610N Linksys Router. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
-Artem Durytskyy

I have been having the same problem all during my warranty period. But no one ever told me it was a firmware problem until two days ago connected to the sleep mode for the wireless one. Supposedly, they have downloads for wire ones now online which I found for 909a and 909b, but not 909g which is wireless. Now I am out of warranty and they won't replace it. I have a long history with tech support since early 2010. Right now, they are sending me a power adapter to try, said to turn off sleep mode (which I dont' know how). Then I told them I found online a firmware download, Apr 2010 to update firmware. My current version is different that the one listed for the download. So, I'm going back to TS to have them fool with it. Has anything worked for you?

Vista SP2 Dell Pavilion Intel Quad 2.33ghz 64bit OS 8gb RAM OfficeJet Pro K8600 on USB cable to main ports
I loose the connection and have to reboot the computer to get it to print again.
It prints fine for several hours or a day or so, then suddenly will freeze part way through printing, or simply will not print at all. In Printer preferences I click on services - Ink levels tab - "computer unable to establish 2 way communication"
Removing the USB and reattaching does not help, nor does changing the USB port used.
Disconnected unit, rebooted, deleted printer icon, uninstalled printer drivers, rebooted, did full install using the HP CD and I still have the same problem after printing for awhile.
HP Diagnostic utility does not detect any problems when printer is not working or when it is working.

Did you install the two HP updates slp_dd_hati_110_107.exe and ConvergedIO_HPCOM_V3.exe?

The cyan portion of the printhead may be clogged.  I would suggest running the diagnostics shown here.  If three levels of cleaning of the printheads does not resolve the issue you may need a new printhead.

  • Touchsmart 520-1047c Mouse and Keyboard will not work after sleep mode

I have an issue which I need some help with. When my computer goes to sleep the wireless mouse and keyboard will not work unless I restart, however each one will wake the system up but will not operate after that. I have tried just making the display go to sleep, both go to sleep but that makes no difference same issue occurs. The only work around I have found is going into the power settings and turning the sleep mode off for booth the computer and display. This does not solve the problem it just masks it. New batteries, unplugged and replugged the dongle, updated the bios and all drivers. Don't know what else to try. Anybody know how to fix this? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? This should help enable your system to wake from sleep mode using your wireless keyboard and mouse. I also recommend connecting wired peripherals to diagnose the functionality of your keyboard and mouse. If your system is still not able to wake from sleep mode, please follow the steps below to restore the default power schemes on your computer: Step 1. Click the Start button
Step 2. In the search box, type "Command Prompt"
Step 3. Right-click Command PromptStep 4. Click Run as administrator

  • Safari will not work after sleep mode

After going into sleep mode safari will not work. Firefox works fine, mail is fine. Happened after upgrade  to O S x .  Browser is Safari 8.  How do I fix this?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

I have a few suggestions and with any luck, hopefully get this issue resolved for you.

  • Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion

Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion

My experience with upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion is that the OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless will print just fine, although it seems to take a little longer to find the printer on the network. My scan function however locks up and will not work. This really is an annoyance, though, since I have VueScan, which works fine with Lion.
Hopefully, Apple and HP will not orphan the OS native scanning feature for HP multifunction printers.

  • Scanning to Computer, HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All in one Printer A909g

I am unable to scan to computer with Win 8.1 using my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless all in one Printer A909g.  I can scan to email.  The system says my drivers and software are up to date.  When trying to scan to computer all I get is a blank scan file with no scan number (Scan_Doc0054) as I used to with Vista.  In Vista I was able to drive the whole process from my computer.  When scanning to email now I have to drive it from my printer as opposed to the computer.
I restarted an old computer running Vista and the 'scan to computer' function is operational.  As far as I am aware there are no other functional problems with the printer.
Any help would be very much appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi John046,
I am sorry to hear that did not work for you, I do have some more options for you to try:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.

  • Printing problem - HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer, Red color fads on 4th copy

I have an HP HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer, and am trying to print 75 copies of a program for our event. After the first 5-6 pages the RED in my program starts to turn magenta. I have brand new HP ink, and am printing on HP Color Injet Paper. I have renectly replaced the Black/Yellow printhead (at least 6 months ago). At first when I cleaned the printheads, I could print 2 or 3 pages showing my RED color. Then turns back to magenta. When I received the test patterns after cleaning the print heads they are all perfect with no lines.
What is going on and how can I fix it?
    This question was solved.

    Hi TM1997,
I understand you have an Officejet 8500 Wireless that is not printing red properly, it keeps turning to magenta. I'm sorry to hear this, but I will definitely do my best to help you!
As I'm sure you saw, when replacing the black and yellow printhead, that there are two printheads in the Officejet 8500 and the second one controls the magenta and cyan. I would suggest that you first have a look through this Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues document. You can also manually clean your printhead with the steps in this 'The Following Printhead Appears to be Missing or Damaged' or 'The Following Printhead has a Problem... document.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • Printing problem - HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - printer head?

I posted this elsewhere, but I think I posted it on the wrong Forum so I am posting it here now. I hope I did not do anything to upset anyone. I am new to this area, please forgive my clumsiness.
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer. I've had my printer since December 2009 and no problems. I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 7 and had to go online to find the drivers that work for my printer. Windows 7 was not compatible with this printer.
Also recently, I am having a problem with what I think may be the black printer head, but when I run diagnostic on it everything comes back saying it is fine. However the problem still exist. When printing the black color will become faded in some areas and in some lines will not only almost totally fade out, but will almost look italic.
Can you tell me if this is the printer head and does it need replacing or is there another problem?
    SondraS

Are you using genuine HP cartridges and not refilled or third-party cartridges?
Print the Print Quality Diagnostic page from the setup menu/print report/ on the printer's front panel
Are there any quality issues with this page?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless A909g Loses Connectivity

[posted on behalf of another user]
Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless A909g
New printer will not stay connected to the wireless network. The printer continuously drops the network connection.
For 15-20 minutes at a time, it will go off-line, then come back on for ~5 mins.  If you power off the printer it will re-connect.  Energy Saving feature has been disabled.
When the printer is off-line, I cannot ping it nor reach it by http interface.
The router is a Belkin-N+ router, WPA-PSK security.
The printer is at address 192.168.2.4 and is static in both the Router and the printer.
The SSID is broadcast and the channel being used is 7, wireless mode is b,g and N
The printer says it has a connection strength of 5, and always shows itself connected.
The printer does not reconnect, unless you power cycle it.
If the printer is pingable then everything works fine, when it is not nothing works.  The fact that it works when it is on-line makes me believe everything with the network connection is fine, other than the possibility that there is a signal problem.  But since other devices with b cards, connect to the router with no problem, and the printer reports a strong connection I do not believe this is the problem.
I currently have a script running that pings the server every minute and it still disconnects.

Unfortunately, you are not alone.  Search the forums for this problem and you will find several threads.  Based on being involved with several of those here is what I recommend:
    1. Connect with Ethernet cable if you can.  Your problems will likely disappear.
    2. If not, try changing the wireless channel to 1 or 11.
    3. Try changing your group key renewal time (WPA key) to the maximum allowable by the router.
    4. You can try this firmware update, but it does not list this as a fault it corrects.
Let's try those and go from there...
