HP Officejet Pro 8600 color copy

When trying to copy in color, it makes vertical colored lines all over the page.  I can copy fine in black.  I can also print from the computer fine.  It prints the test sheets fine.  It is only when I select to copy in color that is a problem.  I have tried cleaning the printhead and it didn't help at all.

Hi,
If the printer connected to the power through any a power strips, a surge protecte, a UPS or any similar, try connecting the printer to a direct wall socket and check for any difference.
If that does not resolve the issue also ensure the latest firmware is installed and check again.
You may find its latest firmware below:

Please let me know if that may help,

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus copy prints with black streaks

I just bought an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and it seems to work great at printing; however, when I tried to copy something, the copy came out with black streaks that nearly render the print illegible and are the most dark/condensed towards the left hand side of page.
How do I fix this problem?

    Hi,
It could be due to the scan calibration issue during power on.
Power off the Printer, make sure scan lid closed properly. Now power it on, it will do scan calibration.
Now try to do the copy and see the results.
    Hope it will help you.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a: Scan & Copy in color results in full cyan page

Product Name: HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
    OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
I noticed the problem: After I scanned a medical card that was 80% cyan.
Problem: The problem persists when scanning/copying using the ADF or using the scanner glass bed.
Only occurs during color scanning or copying.  I can print a file from my laptop or home pc with no issues, as long as the color file did NOT come from my printer.
If I had scanned the small O'Riley's note in black & white there would have been no streaking.
I have reset, used the HPP Dr., cleaned the glass, etc, & followed Solutions 1 - 3 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c02881567&lc=en&product=4323659&tmp...

    Hi @Veritasabt,
I see that you are having issues scanning and copying in color from the glass and the ADF. Thank you for providing the screen shot. I can help you out today.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Update the printer's firmware. HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a Firmware.
Try scanning again to see if you have the same results.

  • How to make a copy of a legal size document on HP Officejet Pro 8600

How to make a copy of a legal size doucment on HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One?

    Hi,
    Please try
    (a) Load legal size papers onto the input tray (you have to extent the tray from the blue/cyan part to fit legal size papers),
    (b) Load original face up on the ADF,
    (b) Touch copy,
    (e) Touch Settings (now you can change size and few other options,
    (f) Touch Black or Colors to copy.

  • Single Vertical Line When Using ADF for Scan or Copy on HP Officejet Pro 8600

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium Printer (CN577A)
    OS: MS 7 64 bit
When using the ADF for my CN577A HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium printer, I get a single vertical line on the document that is produced. This occurs when copying or scanning, both in black and white, and in color. If I scan or copy using the glass, I don't get the vertical line.
I already tried the troubleshooting.  I unplugged the printer, left it without power for several minutes; that didn't correct the problem.  Next, I cleaned the rollers and the glass; I still get the vertical line, but only when using the ADF.
My firmware version used is current (CLP1CN1150CR).
    What should I check next?
    This question was solved.

The ADF uses its own glass area on the scanner bed, it is the narrow (about 1" wide) strip on the left.  Cleaning this area should resolve the issue.  A single small spot would cause the issue you are seeing.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium will not copy or scan.

    Hello,
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium that prints just fine however it will not copy or scan. When I attempt to copy a document it displays Starting Copy... on the printer but will not copy and must be turned off and on to use the printer again. When I attempt to scan it brings up an error box telling me to check all of my network connections.
I have already tried the services.msi fix and have ran hp printer and scannor doctor tool to attempt to fix my problem.
In the services.msi I found that all services dependant on (WIA) were already running and set to automatic.
The scan doctor found that It wasn't communicating with the drivers, which I then reinstalled, and restarted the computer. It then continued to have problems with the drivers and asked me to contact support.
    Thank you for your time.
edit: The printer is also running the latest firmware and I have also checked my anti-virus firewall so that it is allowing the printer through network. (note: in attempt to fix the issue i have both a usb and network connection trying to get either connection to work).

    Hi-
To make sure I understand this correctly, you are unable to do a copy at the device itself?   This should function without the device being connected to a PC at all.   if this is indeed the case, it sounds as if this is a hardware issue.  I would then check with HP support on your product for warranty repair.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus N911 Tries to Copy from ADF if Lid Covering the Glass is Completely Open

    Hi,
I just posted a reply to the following regarding an identical problem that I am having:
      http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Officejet-Pro-8600-N911n-Printer-Tries-to-C...
It occurs to me, however, that the original post I replied to is so old that it is probably better to post my problem in a new thread.
I've borrowed some of the original poster's wording since his explanation of the problem was very clear and concise...
If I have the lid that covers the glass completely open on my HP Officejet 8600 Plus (N911) printer then it usually tries to feed pages from the ADF to copy and then reports a jam since I have not put anything in the ADF. If I partly or completely shut the lidthen it copies from the glass properly. This problem arises when I want to copy pages from a thick book for which it is very incovenient (and not really possible) to hold the book firmly in position with two hands while closing the lid with a third hand.
I think the problem is that the ADF sensors that detect when the ADF is loaded with paper are normally held in the position indicating no paper by gravity. When the lid is completely open it goes past 90 degrees, so gravity causes them to be fall into a position where the sensors are tripped.
We contacted Courtney, a Case Manager on the "HP AMS TCO Escalations Team" and she insisted that the 8600 is able to copy from the glass with the lid open and that our unit must be defective. She sent a new unit, but it had the same problem since it is a design flaw, not a manufacturing defect. When we called her back she did not seem to concerned that the 8600 could not copy with the lid open and did not really want to pursue our problem any further. We asked whether we could switch to an equivalent model that can copy with the lid open, but she said that the 8600 is their top-of-the-line model and there is no equivalent model. In the end, she offered to "buy back" the printer.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any fix so that I can copy with the lid completely open? Perhaps a firmware update so the printer realizes that if the lid is open then it should ignore the ADF? I would even be OK with a menu item that lets you disable the ADF.
Does anyone from HP monitor this forum and can they test this out and report the flaw to the design team, or suggest a work-around to me?
     Thanks!

    Paul,
I noticed that when the cover is completely open (90 degrees), there is a chime sound and the ADF symbol lights up in the upper right hand corner.  If I lower the lid a bit, I can press the copy button and get the copy started before the symbol lights up.  This is the same chime and symbol that lights up when pages are placed in the ADF.
I tried putting shims (small pads of post-its about 1/8" thick) under the bottom edge of the printer in the back.  That is enough to prevent the sensor from engaging the ADF with the top opened fully.  Yipee, hands free operation.  HP would probably say I voided the warranty.
Maybe the printer was tested on a table that was not level.

  • Officejet pro 8600 plus e-all-in-one color managment problem.

please help, I'm a photographer and I own officejet pro 8600 plus e-all-in-one printer. I want to print my photos using this printer, but it never print them right, so I bought Colormunki photo to calibrate my monitor and my printer and match them together. The problem is I can't control the printer color management  !!! I want to disable it, so I can use the printer profile in Photoshop or other applications to get the right prints. my prints are darker when I set the color management to be handled by the application, or I make the printer handle it but I will end up with wrong colors. I really really need to change the profile of the printer. how ?????? otherwise I really have no use of it in my work.

    Jassim,
Kudos to you for figuring out how to better control the outcome for what you require.
I have learned something new today.  Smiling!
Did you create the new profile manually or add it in from a previously saved setting?  Filename / filetype?
It has been a while since I used Photoshop.  I am thinking I may take another look at my old favorite.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 - Cannot select color printing in settings

I selected grayscale printing.  Now I want to print in color and cannot find how to print in color.  Option not found.

Here's an answer - it might not match your setup though:
    OS: Windows 8.1
Print Driver: HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver, 2012-10-22 , Version28.8
Bring up the HP Officejet Pro 8600 software and select Set Preferences under Print:
Then on the Printing Prefrences dialog, press the Advanced button:
And then on the Advanced Options dialog, turn off the option under Printer Features for Print in Grayscale:
    Hopefully that helps.

Hi @MKortan , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're having copy issues.  I would like to try and help!
What paper size are you using?
I'd recommend performing a a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Also, try plugging the printer power into a different wall outlet.
I'd then suggest updating the printer firmware:

  • Color Printer cartridges - Officejet Pro 8600

Someone needs to start a class action suit against HP for the intended design of their Officejet Pro 8600 printers and pIossibly other printers as well.  The issue has to do with the desire to print black only but, color cartridges are tested when this is desired.  Why would I wish to be required to have ink in a color cartridge when I want to print only black?
To meet the requirement as stated by the support person, I needed to have a yellow cartridge that contained ink.  I went to the store and bought a yellow cartridge.  Installed thenew yellow cartridge and then the new error message was that my cyan cartridgte was empty.  Replaced that cartridge then the message said I needed a magenta cartridge with ink.
Now, keep in mind, I was able to print black only two days earlier.  Does it seem reasonable that yellow, cyan and magenta cartridges would all become empty at exactly the same time?  I don't think so.  Furthermore removal of the cyan cartridge and then re-installing, was captured as a fact by the printer logic.  Why on earth are they going so far at to keep track that the same cartridge was removed and then re-installed?  This is to me further evidence that the manufacturer has devised a printer to insure they sell a maximum number of color cartridges when any one of the cartridges goes out.
In my case, I purchased a yellow cartridge for $19.99.  Insertion of that cartridge was not good enough.  So, I then purchased a full set with the black XL (cost $94.99).  Total cost after taxes was $123.16.  Therefore, HP is in the business to make their money off of printer cartridges and could almost give the printers away for free.
Will research other manufacturer printer costs and cartridge costs before I consider purchasing another HP printer.
They darn well know this is part of their devious sales strategy and are cleaning up.

  • Officejet pro 8600 copy cancelled

When I try to copy on my Officejet Pro 8600, a message pops up that says "copy cancelled", and about an inch of the document is copied at the top of the page. The rest is blank. I've reset the printer. What else can I do? Thank you!

    Hey @ErikaS ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're having problem copying with your OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer.
When you performed the reset did you do it with the power button, or a hard reset by removing the power cord while the printer was still powered on?
If you used the power button, please try a hard reset. With the printer powered on remove the power cord. Wait at least 30 seconds and plug it back in. The printer should turn itself on. After this, try a copy.
If the issue persists, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet. Not a surge protector, power strip, or extension cord. I know this sounds crazy, but HP printers work best when connected directly into the wall.
Let me know if either of those help.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 e

    Hello everyone,
I just bought a HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One today from Staples.  I set everything and it all went well, I can print wirelessly from my laptop, it will do a B/W copy and color copy, but whenever I try to send a picture from my iPhone (using the e-mail address) I get a paper jam.  I tryed 7 to 8 times, and every time I got a paper jam.  Then I tried to print from my laptop again, and it worked fine.  The picture is only 1 MB, I put nothing in the address feild, and I only sent the e-mail to the ePrint email address.  Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hey Dave,
I see you are having an issue with your Officejet Pro 8600 producing a paper jam whenever you ePrint from you iPhone a picture.  I would like to ask if it is only this one picture that causes the jams or anything you try to ePrint?  Try printing another picture, document, etc from the printer to see if it is just an issue with that file.
As well, if you are still experiencing a paper jam in the unit please follow the steps in the document linked below.
'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the printer
Also, try power cycling the printer to see if it is simply the ePrint server you are connected with at the time.  When the unit power cycles back up it should try connecting through to one of the alternate servers.
    Unplug the printer while on
Unplug the other end of the power cord
    Wait 30 seconds
Plug the unit back up for power in a direct wall outlet for power
Let me know how it goes,
    Jason
