Hp officejet pro 8600 doesn't work with yosemite

Dear,
I've installed yosemite on my mac and now scanning doesn't work, there isn't the scanning button in system/print and scan like before installing yosemite!
I've tried to delete and reinstall driver (also update driver from appstore after installed the new driver) and I've tried to use the hp scan software but nothing the softaware report that there are no scanners!
Printing works very well the problem is only on scanning and only on mac because other pc with windows works correctly!
I've tried to follow this post   http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/No-more-scanning-after-upgrading-to-MacOS-X-1...   but nothing the scan doesn't work also after done all the things in the post!!!!!
I've also tried to speak with the phone assistance (in italy beacuse I'm writing from italy) but they have no advice for my problem!
Please help me I need scanning with mac for work!!!!!

Thank you for contacting the HP Support Forum. I understand that you HP Officejet Pro 8600 is having issues scanning after your Yosemite update. After a little research, I found a document that might get us started in the right direction.
Try these steps first, and then please let me know if they worked or not.

    Hi all! My SoundBlaster omni 5.1 doesn't work with Yosemite 10.10.1 (installed driver for Yosemite 10.10). Equipment in system is displayed properly, like "Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1". And SB is set as active. Volume controller is active (system shows volume adjustment). But there is no sound on output (either) and mic doesn't catch the signal.With MS Windows 8.1 it works good. Therefore I suppose problem not in hardwear, most likely in drivers.Does anybody have the same problem?

    Office 2008 and 2011 work with Yosemite. If you had Office 2004 installed, then it will not work. If you had Office 2008 I would upgrade to Office 2011. In any event you should try completely uninstalling Office and then reinstalling it.

  • Hp officejet pro 8600 : doesn't scan to computer with new OS

    When I purchased my new computer (HP envy 700) I thought I was happy with it.  THen it stopped working with my old HP printer because the software didn't match up due to "age" according to help desk.  So I bought a new HP printer, the jet pro 8600.  And low and behold this also does not work with my computer because of the operating system.  They (help desk)  set me up to use the online HP WEbScan.  But today I am working at home, and now that site doesn't work.  HOW can I use the scan option on the new printer if nothing is compatible? HELP i want to use my products they way the box says they are supposed to be able to be used!
    More info it is the latest 8.1 operating system for windows, and I tried using the HP print and scan doctor 4.5 and the message it gives me looks like this:
    well I guess it wont copy and paste the error message, it says calltodrivepackageinstallreturned error then a bunch of numbers and a webaddress.
    Very frstrated PLEASE HELP!!

    I am sorry for the frustration you are having, with not being able to scan, on your HP Officejet pro 8600. But I am happy to help you get scanning again!
    For further assistance, I will need to know the following:
    If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
    If the printer is able to make copies.
    If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well. 
    In the meantime, please try the solutions within this scanning guide, A 'Connection Error' or 'No Computer Detected' Error Message Displays during Scanning.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: "Unable to Communicate with Printer" error message

    I receive the error message "Unable to Communicate with Printer" regularly when I print. Sometimes it will print 3 or 4 times just fine before I get this message. Sometimes it happens my first try at printing. I then have to reboot my computer to get it to work again. My OS is Windows 7 and my printer is an HP Officejet Pro 8600. My printer is wired to my computer. I have tried re-installing the printer software but this did not help. I've had this printer for only four months. Started happening after the second month. Any suggestions? 

    I finally solved it.  Reflecting back on previous message boards I decided to try one last time.  Some posters have found the problem in the Antivirus, Firewall protections.  (By the way, I had even upgraded my router with no luck).I have Norton AntiVirus provided by the cable company.1. I turned off everything in the firewall.  Although this left me vulnerable for a few mintues, I needed a fast test.2. It worked!  I was able to print something immediately.3. I went back into the firewall, turned everything back on but turned off an individual switch within the firewall that said to "share the printer. "4. After turning it off, I was able to print and still have the most important parts of the firewall.This ultimately met my needs.Perhaps HP could:1. Do a better job at beta testing prior to release, including various brands of firewalls.  Is there even a beta test process?2. Provide a better description of the error since all indicators within the drivers say the printer is connected.  There should be a message indicating that it's connected but unable to print due to firewall protections.

    I just bought an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and it seems to work great at printing; however, when I tried to copy something, the copy came out with black streaks that nearly render the print illegible and are the most dark/condensed towards the left hand side of page.
    How do I fix this problem?

    Hi,
    It could be due to the scan calibration issue during power on.
    Power off the Printer, make sure scan lid closed properly. Now power it on, it will do scan calibration.
    Now try to do the copy and see the results.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 wireless print option with Mac OSX Snow Leopard?

    Hi My 'old' 8600 printer died and I purchased a new one. I did not set up wireless communication with the old printer but am interested in doing so with this new one, or at least having that option.
    I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8  Snow Leopard. The installation CD that came with the new printer says it's for OS X v10.6, Lion or Mountain Lion. Is it compatible with my system?

    I see you are looking into compatibility information.  The Officejet Pro 8600 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.  The software disc should allow the full install without issue.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 n911a - not working, again

    I purchased this printer (Officejet Pro 8600) last week. Set up was really difficult. A PC laptop set up quickly and works fine. My iMac and Mac Book - coulnd't 'see'  the printer for set up. I managed to install drivers and achieve printing by using a USB cable to set up the wireless' connections using the IP address.
    All worked for Wednesday to Friday. This monring, both Macs find the printer 'unreachable', the PC is printing fine.
    I have:
    Hard reset the printer
    Downloaded the Apple support files, and restarted
    Downloaded the most up to date drivers from the HP website
    Still nothing. What next?
    My Mac is using OS 10.8.5
    This is costing me time and money, not withstanding the purchase price. What next ... I need a printer - or I wouldn't have paid for one.
    All help gratefully received.

    Good news - I've managed to add a static IP address.
    So, for now at least, the iMac and Mac Book can see the printer and print. Hopefully it lasts ...
    Still cannot 'scan to computer'. It works on the pc, but I cannot scan to/via the macs - which is what I need to do. And no, I cannot share a network folder on the pc (it is not mine). Is there any way around this? It used to work fine with the HP scan software on my old Deskjet F4580 ... any advice appreciated

    When I try to scan, it appears as though the OfficeJet Pro cannot communicate with my computer. The computer is connected to the internet, and the OfficeJet Pro is connected, but it won't scan. I have used the Office Jet Pro for these purposes before, and it appears to have stopped working all of a sudden. The error message says "no computer found."

    Hi shoffice, and welcome to the HP Forums!
    I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
    Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
    Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

    I have lost my internetten connection after having upgraded to yosemite. my usb modem (zte mf667) worked smoothly with mavericks. but it stopped to work when i upgraded to yosemite. i can not find a compatible driver either. now my machine is just a harddisk. what would a pc without internet look like?

    I have the same problem with modem Prolink PHS101 not working with yosemite, was oke with maverick, apple please help

  • Officejet Pro 8600 scanner not working!

    We have just got a new Officejt Pro 8600 printer in the office and I do a lot of scanning, however, it doesn't always work! I would say it works perhaps 2 times out of 10? It comes up with an error message of 'Scanner lid or Document Feeder open', despite a few pages going through, or me previously successfully managing to scan. Help - it's driving me crazy!!!

    The two metal clips under the document feeder are not holding it down far enough. If you lift the adf you can see them underneath one on the front one on the back. Putting a bit of left pressure (towards the left side of the machine) on both clips bends them slightly this will hold the adf cover down tighter and the machine will now see it as closed.
    I have fixed over 30 machines doing this.

  • Officejet pro 8600 doesn't install on one computer in network

    A week ago I bought the pro 8600. I installed it in a little network (4 computers) using usb.
    I shared the pro on the computer it was connected to. On two computers one using windows 7 and one XP, the printer installed without a problem. On the last one with windows 7 I ran in a problem.
    I am not able to add the pro,  I got a diiferent icon I tried HP doctor and it stated I have got the wrong drivers. I installed the program using the cd rom without result. I have tried to install the printer connecting it directly to the computer but without result. It shows up in the printer list with the wrong (other than on the 3 other computers) icon with the correct name, but I amnot able to print with it. 

    I forgot to mention that the four computers are workstations connected by ethernet cables to my server. The computers don't have wifi. The server uses Centos and is connected to the router by means of a virtual networkcard. It is very unpractically to connect the printer to the server, or to the router.
    It lookes like there are some old drivers from other old HP printers I used to have, and now are recognized as the correct drivers. I don't even know if this possible. Or the drivers aren't completely installed.
    It is in my opinion also very curious the printer doesn't install correctly when it is directly connected to the problem-computer.

  • Unable to install Officejet pro 8600 printer on work network using HP software on Win10

    I have recently updated my Surface pro 3 to Win 11.  I am trying to install my printer using the HP setup software.  This had worked with Win 8.1. The software was never able to detect my printer automatically but in the past I could enter the IP address and it would connect.  This is not happening, when I select wired connection, it just fails never giving me the option to enter the ip address.  I can install the printer using the W11 control panel but the Scanner features if the HP software (HP printer assistant) will not work this is frustrating for me.  Please help.Regards,Michael

    I found the solution to this problem.  You just need to run the automatic install wired function twice and then it will ask for the IP address.  Once I did that and entered the IP address it worked fine.  It just should be an option to begin with or show up after one failure.  The fact that I had to let it fail twice was confusing.Michael

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printing issues with Mavericks 10.9

    The printer stopped printing (the print queue said printer not connected), so I unplugged the printer (an HP suggestion) for 15 seconds, replugged and it printed the doc in the queue. Printed a few docs for about 5 minutes, then the same not connected message as before.  
    Repeated steps, repeated results. Tried 3 times and can't figure it out. At least I can print when necessary, but unplugging every time is annoying.
    Any suggestions?

    Try unplugging your router for a moment, allow it 2-3 minutes to restart and reboot your printer, then check for any difference.
    If the same persists, have it worked with the same router in the past? may you changed any network settings, replaced a router or may upgraded its firmware lately?
