HP Officejet Pro 8600 only print 1/4th (maybe less) of a page and blows it up...

Hi!
A program I work on at work (which is distributed to people selling my employer's products) has trouble printing correctly on an HP Officejet Pro 8600.
Only part (maybe 1/4th) of the page is printed and is expandeds to fit all the page.
This program prints flawlessly on everybody else's printers.
These people don't work for my employer so we have no control over which printer they chose, they each provide their own printer.
Only the HP Officejet Pro 8600 has trouble printing my employer's program output...
What could be the cause of that? I assume it could be a driver or setting problem but the person who has that problem keeps on insisting he doesn't have that problem with other programs so if it's a driver problem, it doesn't affect his other programs.
The output of the program has a lot of pictures, could this be caused by some sort of OOM (Out Of Memory) problem? I know old lasers/led printer used to have a similar problem when their memory was full.
Any ideas?
As I said only one person who uses an HP Officejet Pro 8600 has that problem, other printers, both made by HP and other brands don't have that problem...
Thank you!
Nick

Hello Nick-
Without knowing the customer's operating system, I can only provide a few guidance responses.
First, have they tried HP's Print and Scan Doctor to see if it can identify any issues? Here's a link to the page, select the OS and you can find the software under Utility - Diagnostic Tools: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4323659&task=&
If that doesn't work, you can try reviewing this troubleshooting document for a few steps that might help to reset the settings on the printer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02866222&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc...
I hope those suggestions will resolve the issue. Best of luck to you and your customer.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 plus Printer

I have just purchased the Officejet Pro 8600 plus Printer & installed it with no problems but it won't connect to the internet/web services? It is connected to my home network & will print etc. but when I try to activate the internet as directed, it searches for a while with 'Enabling Web Services (ePrint & Apps)' on the screen & then reads 'Web Services (ePrint & Apps) could not be enabled'.
When I tried to activate the web service during instalation, the page read that if it did not activate I would be directed to a page to download necessary drivers but this never happened & the only thing I could do was to select the 'Next' button which completed the installion without the internet/web service working.
Does anyone know of this issue & if so, can you please tell me how to connect my printer to the internet.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints part of page and quits

My brahd-new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints part of page and quits.  The manual said to clean the print heads and align the printer.  I did both of those.  It made the problem worse.   I'm printing on photo paper - HP Premium Plus.  It happens about 1/2 the time.

    Hi beantowner2,
I would like to begin with a few questions,
Does this happen when you copy a photo, or only when you print form the computer?
Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or a surge protector?
What operating system and version is on the computer?
Is the printer connected to the computer with a USB cable or wirelessly?
If you have a WIndows operating system please download and install the latest firmware version for the printer. HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g_n Firmware.
If you are using a surge protector, I suggest disconnecting and connecting the power directly to a wall outlet.
Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see,
    ISSUE:
Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
This is not limited to Laserjet printers.

  • My HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer will not recognize my wireless router passwrd

My printer was working fine but when I turned it on today it wouldn't connect to my wireless router. I try inputing the correct password and the printer gives me this message......"the WPA security passphrase configured on your HP printer does not match your wireless router setting" .
I have entered the password several times and I know what I have entered is correct

    Hi @Southglen,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer will not recognize your wireless router password. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
I would recommend to go through this guide, How to Find the WEP or WPA Key or Password for Your Wireless Network, just to double-check your wireless password, in case it might have changed.
I would also suggest a hard reset, by going to this post How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1.
After those two steps, I would suggest a firmware update, Getting Printer Updates for HP Officejet Pro 8600 (N911), Officejet 6600 (H711) and Officejet 6700 P....
Let's start with these steps, and we will go from there!

  • My HP officejet pro 8600 will print but won't scan wirelessly

My officejet pro 8600 will print and scan with a usb connection. It will also PRINT when connected wirelessly but it doesn't  SCAN wirelessly. Running OS X Yosimit 10.10.2. thanks  John

    Thanks John!
I'm still curious as well, do you get that same error regardless of initiating the scan from the printer or the software?
At this point, I will suggest that you try resetting your printing system (don't re-add the printer just yet) and then perform a verify/repair of your disk permissions. Once those complete, restart your Mac and then add the printer back to the queue.
Try scanning again via the HP software and then the Apple software. Please also ensure you try initiating the scan both from the printer as well as the software and let me know if there is any difference, thanks

  • My HP Officejet pro 8600 plus printer is locked

My HP Officejet pro 8600 plus printer is locked and is offline how do I unlock it because I'm in big trouble.

I had the same problem, HP kept telling me it was my wireless network. But I had paddle locks on my wireless on the printer it self. We finally figured it out.  I will try to explain as best that I can. If your looking at the printer, down to the left of the window, press several times just outside the printer window, until it wakes up.  Scoll with arrow keys > to the right until you come to the Enable /unenable the wireless. Press up/down arrows to come to the Enable window and reset it from there.  I hope I explained this wwell enough to do it on your own. Just to let you know when you are pushing to the left of the window quickly to get it started, you are not pushing any visable button, just keep pushing and will open up in the window.  Good Luck

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, printing from web cuts everything off on right side

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus cutting of everything ont he right-hand side of my pages when i print anything from the internet.
I am currently using Windows 7 and I am printing from Firefox.
I use Gmail and anything I print from there does the same thing.  I see on several other posts here that they tell people to go to the File menu and choose preferences, but when printing from Gmail, I do not see anywhere that has a drop-down File menu to choose from.  I also see several people saying to choose landscape orientation to print, however it still cuts off the right side when I choose the landscape option.
When I print from Gmail I am just hitting the printer icon on the upper right corner of the email itself (when you put your mouse over the icon it says "print all"), or I click on the drop-down menu under that icon and choose "print".
When I am trying to print some web pages, I can hit the download arrow to the right of the google search box and then print the downloaded page instead.  This usually corrects the problem, but sometimes when I try to download a page, it says there is nothing to download.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thank you,
    Steel

    Hi @steel13
Since the issue only occurs when you print from Firefox, I feel it would be most beneficial if you reach out to Mozilla.
You might first consider resetting Firefox print settings; Fix printing problems in Firefox.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600, HP Printer Assistant does not install when software is installed from CD

HP Officejet Pro 8600 e all in one printer
    Windows 7
I have had Printer Assistant installed and working on my computer for at least a year then there was an update and it no longer works.
I have uninstalled the device and software and reinstalled both from the website and directly from the CD with no success.
The only error I receive is when I first start the install and there is a red 'x' next to windows update .
The install process will complete, the computer will recognize the printer and I am able to print but I have no control of any functions becuase none of the options in printer assistant are enabled.  They are all grayed out.   The most important feature I need is the archival of received faxes.
Another person in my household had the same issue but was able to reinstall from the website and no longer has any issues.
Thanks for any and all help.

  • [win7 64bit ultimate]: HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints won't scan

Guys I have spent 2 days on reading and trying all of the suggestions in previous posts. My HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus JUST won't scan. When I click to scan a Document or Photo the HP Scan pops up saying: The HP Officejet Pro 8600 was not found.
When I do unistall the HP basic software and then install again it works fine. However when pc restarts problem is still there.
I have completely uninstalled my avast Antivirus and also configured the windows firewall. No luck till now.
Tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor: It appears that the problem is in the device manager. Edited: Just looked at the device manager and spotted this >
If I reinstall it will work only till my next restart.
    Any suggestions?

    @N3CR4, welcome to the forums
I read about how you cannot scan and have been troubleshooting quite a bit lately, to no avail.
I have some questions and some ideas for you. If you've tried the steps, just let me know the results. Here are my ideas for you.
Have you uninstalled the printer by right clicking on them in the Device Manager, as shown in your screen shot, then restarted your PC and reinstalled?
Have you tried creating another User Account with Admin privileges and tried installing?
Try a clean boot, and restart the PC and ensure your Firewalls and Anti-Virus scanners are disabled and try running the installation.
Will the printer install successfully on another PC?
Remove the printer by using the Microsoft Fix it tool, restart the PC and try installing again.
Try unregistering and re-registering the Microsoft Windows Installer service:
    1. Click the Start menu and type " cmd " in the search field and press enter.
    2. Type in " msiexec /unregister " and then press enter.
    3. Type in " msiexec /regserver " and then press enter.
    4. Restart your PC and try the installation.
Run the SFC scan to repair any corupt files. (Run the scan 3 times if there is an issue in the results) then try installing the printer again.
Using System File Checker to Restore System Files
I really hope the steps help, let me know the outcome

  • Windows Server 2012 Standard - HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus printer not working after promoting to Domain Controller / AD Services

An associate and myself installed the built-in drivers for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus multi-function (network) printer on a Windows Server 2012 Standard server installation and everything worked fine whenever I want to print anything directly from the
Windows Server machine (there's a reason for this, so please understand that ;)  ).
We were able to print without any problems from the Windows Server 2012 machine, using the drivers from Microsoft.  Mainly, because HP has not listed any specific support for Windows Server 2012, only Windows Server 2008 R2, however, the drivers that
came with Windows 2012 seem to work very well.
PROBLEM: I later had to promote the Windows Server 2012 to a Domain Controller, and created the Active Directory configurations, even enabled the Print Services.  After doing all of that, the HP printer will not print anything.  It's like all print
requests directly from the Windows Server go to Nil.
Has anyone encountered a problem like this before? The only thing I can think of is that after perhaps something affected printing directly once we promoted the server to being a DC, and added other features / roles.  I even tried installing the
HP drivers for Windows Server 2008 R2, and the results are still the same...nothing prints.  Trust me, the printer is set as the Default Printer and even when choosing to print, we make sure the HP OfficeJet Pro is selected, and is on, as other Windows
Client PC's can print to it directly.
Does anyone have any suggestions we could try?  Thanks in advance.

While it is quite a while since this was posted - I can concur a similar issue exists.
We have spent the better part of a day trying to work out why other HP printers work fine but our 8620 prints are not printing and going to Nil.  The print server is hosted on a shared DC.  Comparing to the initial posters details, for some reason
it seems to be most commonly related to the OfficeJet Pro 8600/8610/8620/8630 series printers.
I ended up doing a print server migration from the domain controller to stand alone host and all printers now work from a single server rather than a mix.  Domain controller OSes varied from 2008, 2012, 2012 R2 (tested with multiple) and only after
all of those failed then tried a stand alone server os machine as a last resort which worked fine.  Printing directly from Win 7 / 8 /8.1 clients to the IP always worked.

  • OfficeJet pro 8600 not printing for USB attached WIn7

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8600 Attached  to Win 7 Dell with USB cable.  It scans very well but most of the time when you go to print, it thinks the USB device has timed out and it gives me garbage about where to send a fax to?
I have other computers runing XP that are Wireless devices, and they take longer but print every time something is sent to them.
This connection is 3' away and the printer default & only printer for Win 7 machine.  Under printers and devices it always  sees the printer.

Try to run the Print and scan doctor and check the results.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03275041
Also, see if you can get another USB cable. Let me know the results.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a - Print when Fax is Not Saved

Can I make it so a fax is printed when it's not saved? I know I can set it to print and save every time, but I rely on HP Digital Fax to save paper. If a fax is not saved, either due to a network error or if the computer that it usually saves to is shut off, can the fax just be printed?

, it's nice to meet you. I think I found something that may help with your faxing dilemma. This information was in the User Guide for the Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a; pg 69. Set up backup fax Depending on your preference and security requirements, you can set up the printer to store all the faxes it receives, only the faxes it receives while the printer is in an error condition, or none of the faxes it receives. The following backup fax modes are available:On > The default setting. When Backup fax is On, the printer stores all received faxes in memory. This enables you to reprint up to eight of the most recently printed faxes if they are still saved in memory. NOTE: When printer memory is low, it overwrites the oldest, printed faxes as it receives new faxes. If the memory becomes full of unprinted faxes, the printer stops answering incoming fax calls. NOTE: If you receive a fax that is too large, such as a very detailed color photo, it might not be stored in memory due to memory limitations.
On Error Only > Causes the printer to store faxes in memory only if an error condition exists that prevents the printer from printing the faxes (for example, if the printer runs out of paper). The printer continues to store incoming faxes as long as there is memory available. (If the memory becomes full, the printer stops answering incoming fax calls.) When the error condition is resolved, the faxes stored in memory print automatically, and then they are deleted from memory.
Off > Faxes are never stored in memory. For example, you might want to turn off Backup fax for security purposes. If an error condition occurs that prevents the printer from printing (for example, the printer runs out of paper), the printer stops answering incoming fax calls. NOTE: If backup fax is enabled and you turn the printer off, all faxes stored in memory are deleted, including any unprinted faxes that you might have received while the printer was in an error condition. You must contact the senders to ask them to resend any unprinted faxes. For a list of the faxes you have received, print the Fax Log. The Fax Log is not deleted when the printer is turned off. To set backup fax from the printer control panel 1. Touch (right arrow), and then select Setup.2. Touch Fax Setup, and then select Advanced Fax Setup.3. Touch Backup Fax Reception.4. Touch On, On Error Only, or Off. Reprint received faxes from memoryIf you set the Backup fax mode to On, the received faxes are stored in memory, whether the printer has an error condition or not. NOTE: After the memory becomes full, the oldest, printed faxes are overwritten as new faxes are received. If all the stored faxes are unprinted, the printer does not receive any fax calls until you print or delete the faxes from memory. You might also want to delete the faxes in memory for security or privacy purposes. Depending on the sizes of the faxes in memory, you can reprint up to eight of the most recently printed faxes, if they are still in memory. For example, you might need to reprint your faxes if you lost the copy of your last printout. To reprint faxes in memory from the printer control panel 1. Make sure you have paper loaded in the main tray.2. Touch (right arrow), and then select Setup.3. Touch Tools or Fax Tools, and then select Reprint Faxes in Memory. The faxes are printed in the reverse order from which they were received with the most recently received fax printed first, and so on.4. If you want to stop reprinting the faxes in memory, touch the Cancel button.  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

I saw your post about the issues you are having with your Officejet 8600 and Windows 8.1. Although I noticed you have done the majority of troubleshooting, I would like to recommend a Level 3 or Level 4 uninstall and then an install. See below for the details.
The OJ 8600 is compatible with Windows 8.1: Windows Compatibility Center
    1. Type %temp% in the run field and click OK.
    2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356) (if there is more than one 7z folder, try the most recent one)
    3. Open folder Util
    4. Open folder CCC
    5. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for a non-HP PC or run the Uninstall_L3.bat for a HP PC (important)
    6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    7. Install the printer: HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
    I hope this helps!
