HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Not Recognized On The Network

I have a CenturyLink DSL Modem/Router that has 4 ports on the back.  I use Port 1 on the DSL Modem/Router to conntect to my NetGear Router.  I use Port 2 on the DSL Modem/Router to connect my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus printer.  I use Port 3 on the DSL Modem/Router to connect my Brother MFC-7360N printer.  I am not using Port 4 of the DSL Modem/Router.
My NetGear Router is used to connect all wired desktop PC's (5) in the house.
I was able to successfully install the software for the Brother printer on all computers and can print on the Brother printer from any of the desktop pc's.
I have the software for the HP printer installed on all computers but on the WIN XP desktop pc I cannot detect the printer on the network.  During the setup process the software detects that the HP printer and the WIN XP pc are connected to two different routers (the DSL Modem/Router is being detected as a router by the WIN XP pc).  On the other desktop pc's which are running either WIN7 or WIN8 there is no detection problems even though the printer is connected to the DSL Modem/Router while the PC is conntected to the NetGear Router.
Does anyone have any knowledge as to why I am having this problem.  The problem seems to be only with the WIN XP pc and not with the WIN7 or WIN8 pc's.

You are running a double NAT scenario, not good.  Simple fix, put the gateway unit (modem/router) in bridge mode, which will disable the router functions and just make it a modem.  Now connect the Netgear router to the gateway unit and have this handle all your wired and wireless connections.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 is not recognised on the network

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer runs on home network (wired) through PC with Windows Vista Business , Service Pack 2. I have printed off HP Configuration Page and the WINS status shows Primary (and Secondary) Server Addresses as 0.0.0.0
Printer is visible on the network with an IP Address of 192.168.0.10 so I guess the question is how do I change the Primary Server Address on the printer itself? Or is there something else I should be doing?
I have another printer (Photosmart 2610) on the network which works fine. I have swapped cables over between both printers and the Photosmart 2610 works with fine; Officejet 8600 does not work at all.
I have run HP Diagnostic Utility - it finds Photosmart 2610 but not Officejet 8600.
I'd appreciate any help going ...

Do you have a wireless router? Have you tried just setting it up wirelessly?

Rfe, make sure bluetooth is disable when you try and use airprint. Bluetooth has been known to interfere with AirPrint. Next download the latest HP Product Updates:
On the product control panel, touch the Right Arrow ( ) to display the second navigation screen.
Touch Setup ( ), and then touch the Down Arrow ( ) to display the Web Services Setup Menu.
    Touch Web Services Setup .
Touch the Down Arrow ( ) to select Product Updates .
    Touch Check for Product Updates
Also be sure that your printer is connected to the wireless network. you can print out a network configuration page by:
On the HP product control panel, touch the Right Arrow icon ( ), and then touch Network .
Touch Wireless , and then touch Wireless Network Test . The HP product prints a network configuration page.
Just make sure "Status" stated "Connected." Hope this helps!

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, not appending number in sequence to base file name when saving PDF.

Officejet Pro 8600 Plus (new today - everything else working great), Vista 32-bit, HP desktop.
After scanning documents and creating a PDF file (Save to file on my computer w/USB connection), using HP Scan, it does not append numbers in sequence to base file name.  HP Scan (Under Advanced Settings/Destinations) reads that it will do this (when you over over the base name field).  Perhaps I have to enable something.  Do you know how I can do this?  Thank you.

I'm not really sure what's going on.  The install might not have written right.  Try uninstalling and installing from a fresh download.  Let me know what happens.

  • Hp officejet pro 8600 plus stops printing in the middle of printing

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, it is setup wireless. It will print fine sometimes then it will print half of a page then pause or stop ???? I am using my IMAC computer. Has anyone had this problem, I am wasting too many sheets of paper.

yes, I have the same problem... and as I print many Invoices at a time, it really slows things down.  It is wireless as well. It never did this at the beginning. It's only a month old.... where's the fix please HP!!!!????

  • Officejet pro 8600 will not connect to wireless network

I have an new Officejet Pro 8600 that I am trying to set up.  I have run the the wireless network setup wizard multiple times.  It recognizes the wireless network router asks for the WEP code and then thinks for about 5 minutes before returning a message: "Unable to connect to the network"
The wireless network test results suggestes that MAC address filtering may be the problem.  There is no MAC filtering function activated on our wireless router.
    The wireless router is a Verizon Actiontec MI424-WR    802.11 b & n
We have computers running both Windows XP and MAC OS X.
One of the reasons that we purchased this printer is for the wireless capabilities.  If it will not conect to the web then it may be going back.

    Hello,
Based on the provided details, I believe the issue have something to do with the wireless security settings of your router.
Please follow the steps below to access the Advanced Security Settings:
    http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/FiOSInternet/Networking/Setup/ActiontecMI424/125511.htm
Below you will see the Network Authentication settings.
Select either Open System Authentication or Both.
Shared Key Authentication is not supported by the printer, and i believe this might be the cause for the connection failure.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus not connecting

My printer has stopped connecting to my computer.  When I click on the control panel on the printer for wireless connection, it tells me that the wireless connection has been disabled and I should contact the printer's administrator.  I am the only user of the printer, so this is not an answer.  I have spent hours trying to get this printer to connect to my MacBookPro, and it won't recognize the printer even with a cable.  And the printer driver seems not to have been updated for over two years (a link to an alleged more current version leads to a dead web page). I have run the HP wireless setup software on my Mac repeatedly but it fails to connect to the printer.

    Hello @JeanneS1 ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are haveing a problem connecting to your 8600 Plus over the wireless network.
    I would like to help.
I would doubble check the wireless on the printer.
Touch the wireless icon, if it has an IP address Type it inot safari and try to reach the EWS.
If it does not have an IP, or says no link, go into the setup menu.
Then go into the Network sub menu and select the wireless setup wizard.
If the printer has an IP address and you can't reach the Embedded Web Server (EWS), I would power off the printer.
Then unplug the power to your router of one minute.  Plug the power back into the router and turn the printer back on.
When the blue wireless light on the printer stops blinking try to connect the printer again.
If the newtork connection is fine, I would uninstall the HP software again.
Then I would verify and repair the disk permissions.
Once that is done, check for Apple updates.
    Restart/reboot the Mac.
    Install the HP software again.

    Hi,
It seems that some of the windows setup files are missing. Do the following things in order.
    1. Uninstall the hp software either going through Start->All Programs->HP->Officejet 8600->Uninstall
or from the Start->Control Panel->Add remove features
    2. Now go to temp folder.. start->run-> and type %temp% and click ok.  Now delete all the files from the temp folder
    3. Restart the computer
    4. Download the latest software from hp.com

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus - "Scan to Computer" issue on Mac OSX 10.8 or 10.9

    Hi...
I have started experiencing the notorious "scan to computer not working" issue on my 1-month OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus, after having used the feature a number of times flawlessly.
There are a lot of potential solutions mentioned in dozens of relevant posts for both Mac and Windows, e.g.:
"Failed to open a session on the device"...
Scan to computer does not work...
Problem scanning to computer with an 8600 wireless
Unable to enable print to computer...
Enable Scan to Computer - Communication Error
Officejet Pro 8600 Utility does not show my Mac computer in scan settings
A 'Connection Error' or 'No Computer Detected' Error Message Displays during Scanning
HP Wireless All-in-One Printers - Communication Error between the Scanner and Your Computer...
    Etc.
However, in my case, no solution works, after several frustrating hours of trying to fix the issue, in Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), or after upgrading to Maverics (10.9).
The behavior of the device points to a software issue, since:
The printer is visible on the network
The print function has been working fine
    The HP Scan function works
The generic Scan function from System Preferences works (although in earlier times it did not, or it stopped working soon after invoking it)
The "Scan to Computer" option does not appear in the HP Utility screen (although occasionally, after random sequences of unistalling and installing the software, it reappears)
The HP Installer crashes before completing the installation (this is a latest symptom, apparently happening before unvoking the HP Setup Assistant, which still works fine)
As already mentioned, I have tried all possible solutions, including software and firmware updates, Apple drivers, HP drivers (full featured software), clean (un)installations, followed by computer and printer restarts. Nothing seems to work.
The "Scan to Computer" feature of the 8600 always works on my Windows 7 laptop, after initial configuration.
The next step will be returning the device for a refund, but before resorting to that, I am giving it a last chance, in (the unlikely) case there is something new I have not tried yet.
    Thanks,
    PNS

  • Officejet pro 8600 plus won't shut off

About a week ago my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus stopped responding to the power button.  Now the only way I can shut off the machine is by unplugging it.  The power button in front of the machine wont work anymore. Please help!

    Hi everyone,
I understand you're all working with an Officejet 8600 that's not responding to the power button. I will certainly do my best to assist you all.
Mrstenter had posted a firmware update that if you haven't done yet, it is definitely recommended. If that doesn't resolve your issue though, it could also be a power issue. Please make sure your printer is plugged directly to a wall outlet not a power strip or surge protector.
If after those two things the printer still won't respond to the power button, please call HP Tech Support for your area and inquire about an in warranty replacement or and out of warranty trade in.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus will not print from my MacAir

I have used my MacAir to print on my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus for about 5 months without any problems.  All of a sudden my printer will not print.  The wireless icon says it's connected to the network.  But when I click print it says "looking for air printer" and then "printer not connected".  I've repeated the Wizard Set Up for the wireless connection.  I've turned the printer and computer on and off.  I've even tried printing from my iPhone but it will not find the printer anymore.  Please help!

    Hello @ladybonds ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
You are saying that you have been printing fine from your computer for 5 months and now your printer says it is connected to the network and your computer says that it isn't.
Have you recently upgraded to Yosemite the new Apple OS? If not what OS X are you using?
Are you sure that the printer and your devices are on the same network?
Does the router give your printer an I.P address?
Let me know these answers and we can go from there.
