HP officeJet Pro 8610 can't connect to wireless router

Just bought a HP officejet Pro 8610, switched on the wireless mode. It won't connect to my Netgear router D6200. It tries to look for the networks in the house and the software hangs. I took it back to the shop and exchanged it with a new printer. I tested it in the shop and it picked up the networks but at home it continues to do the same thing, the software just freezes.

Hi,
Try following these steps and check if that may help:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03806987/
I would also suggest disabling any anti virus or firewall software on your PC which might block the installation.
Be sure to use the latest drivers, those can be downloaded below:

  • Officejet Pro 8610 - Can't connect to wireless network (and has similar issue with previous printer)

When I returned from a trip, I was unable to connect to my trusty HP All-in-one 7510 that I had on my network for three years.  I tried troubleshooting it, reinstalling the software on numerous computers, and fixing the printer, but alas the printer said that it was connected to the network, and none of my computers wanted to find it anymore.
Then I bought my new Officejet Pro 8610 this week, set it up...and I am experiencing the same issue.  I tried using the link and support took from this post - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officejet-Pro-8610-Can-t-connect-to-wi... but the printer was unable to be found on the network.
I would appreciate any help on this issue.  Thanks!

  • Hp officejet pro 8610 - Unable to connect to server

Hello. I bought a printer hp officejet pro 8610. I have a home worth router Zyxel Keenetik. My laptop and smartphone access to the Internet via a router (to access the Internet proxy server is not required). I set up the printer on a wireless connection. Configured to print from a laptop to a local network - this works fine. And now trying to set up ePrint, but faced with the problem - I can not run a web-service on the printer. The message - "Unable to connect to server". I downloaded from HP new version of firmware for the printer and installed it, but the problem remained.

    Hi,
Try setting a manual public DNS as following and check if that may help:
Open the Network tab within the printer's web page.
Select IPv4 within the Wireless section.
Select a Manual IP, then click the Suggest an IP button and allow it a few moments.
Once the fields being updated, change the DNS section as following:
    Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
    Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4.
Apply and save the changes, then try enableing Web Services again and check for any difference.
Please let me know if that may help,

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 does not connect to laptop via wireless network

I have a new HP Officejet Pro 8610. It is connected wirelessly to my home network. My laptop, running Windows 7, is connected to the same network, but cannot find the printer. I have tried turning everything off and resetting the router, but still have the same issue - my laptop cannot find the printer.
I am able to email a document from my laptop to the printer using the printer's email address.
What can I do to get my laptop to find the printer on the wireless network?

    Hey!
This is an issue with your wireless, you either have to get your router looked at you are looking at relocating your printer and your router so they are closer together. If you are able to connect all of your devices to the network fine when you are in the same room; Call HP Technical Phone Support.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
    I hope this helps.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 won't connect to wireless with Wireless extender connected

I am trying to get an Officejet Pro 8600 to connect to a wireless network, but it will not connect when my wireless network extender is connected. Once I disconnect the extender, it connects fine. Here is the setup. I have a Netgear wireless cable gateway CG3000D with a Amped Wireless Dual Band Router (R20000G) connected to the Netgear via ethernet cable. The Amped router is setup as a wireless extender, the Netgear and Amped share the same SSID. All my other devices work just fine connecting, laptops, cell phones, and IPads. When the Officejet 8600 tries to connect with the Amped connected, it tells me invalid password. Once I disconnect the Amped, the Officejet connects just fine. Any ideas how to get the Officejet to connect to the wireless with the Amped extender connected? Thanks

Are you using the same passkey on the extended network? (It is best to)
If so I would try using different SSIDs.  The printer will try to connect to the network with the better signal which might change depending on wireless interference.  There is no way to force the printer to connect to one network over another if the SSIDs are the same.
One other possibility.  Is the passkey the same for both 2.4 and 5ghz on the Amped Dual Band router?  Most routers can be set up to have different passkeys for each band.  The printer is a 2.5ghz device and will need that password the same on both the Amped and Netgear routers.
Please let me know your results.  Extending networks is becomming more common.  Understanding how to work with them will help everyone.

  • Officejet pro 8600 will not connect to wireless network

I have an new Officejet Pro 8600 that I am trying to set up.  I have run the the wireless network setup wizard multiple times.  It recognizes the wireless network router asks for the WEP code and then thinks for about 5 minutes before returning a message: "Unable to connect to the network"
The wireless network test results suggestes that MAC address filtering may be the problem.  There is no MAC filtering function activated on our wireless router.
    The wireless router is a Verizon Actiontec MI424-WR    802.11 b & n
We have computers running both Windows XP and MAC OS X.
One of the reasons that we purchased this printer is for the wireless capabilities.  If it will not conect to the web then it may be going back.

    Hello,
Based on the provided details, I believe the issue have something to do with the wireless security settings of your router.
Please follow the steps below to access the Advanced Security Settings:
    http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/FiOSInternet/Networking/Setup/ActiontecMI424/125511.htm
Below you will see the Network Authentication settings.
Select either Open System Authentication or Both.
Shared Key Authentication is not supported by the printer, and i believe this might be the cause for the connection failure.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi

  • Officejet Pro l7580 Constantly loses connection to wireless laptop!!

    Hi and thanks for helping.
I have an Offiecejet Pro L7580 and use it on my network, servicing a desktop and a laptop. The desktop is wired to the router while the laptop is wireless. Concerning my desktop, the printer connection is solid. It is 100% dependable. My laptop is a completely different story. I noticed that it would connect just fine and print, scan, etc... But after about 10-15 minutes it tells me that it is disconnected. This has been a continuous problem. Both systems use win.7 Ultimate 64 bit.
I found out that if I go into my D-Link DI-524 wireless router and change my wireless channel from one to another, it automatically reconnects. This means that my printer... or laptop is losing a connection due to channel activity. I have tried multiple channels in case of wireless interference from other devices. It happens all the same. This either sounds like a printer firmware problem that loses connection when the router channel cycles, or my laptops network card (even though I never lose connection to the internet). My laptop uses a buffalo mini usb wifi adapter (thanks to a widely known problem of DV series factory defects).
Please help me find out what the problem is.
    Thanks,
    Jason

Here are a few things to try:
    1. Update the firmware on your router.
    2. Set a static IP address for your printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). Yours is 192.168.0.100 to .199  Enter 192.168.0 220 for the IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Computer internet works but Ipod and Wii can't connect to wireless router

For Christmas I got a brand new Ipod Touch. It's able to pick up Wi-Fi and so you can explore the web with it. I went to radio shack and bought the Linksys RangePlus Wireless Router Model No. WRT110. I got it all hooked up and both the Wii and my iPod was able to connect to the internet. Well Thursday I opened the Linksys Advisor and noticed that 4 people were stealing my internet. I went into settings and put on the highest security. After doing that, I turned on my iPod and my network showed up but it wouldn't connect. It says "unable to connect". All the information such as "IP address, subnet mask, router, ect.." are blank from the settings. I click on my network, it doesn't ask me for a password (it never has), and it says "Unable to connect".  I've tried countless ways to connect my ipod and wii back to the wireless router but nothing has helped. Does anyone know how to help me out?

As you have enabled higher security on your router, it is highly possible that your bot your Ipod and Wii do not support that security...Try to change your security from WPA/WPA2 to WEP and both should connect...

  • Officejet pro L7780 printer freezes after new wireless router wpa2 code is entered.

I recently changed routers and attempted to add the new WPA2 code. Using the wireless setup wizard on the printer it allowed me to get to the very end where the printer says network installed press OK to continue. Unfortunately pressing OK did nothing and all keys/buttons on the control panel do not respond. Tried removing the software, resetting the control panel by holding 6 & # during power off/on no help. Running windows 7 bit.

It could be that the printer does not support WPA2.  Try WPA.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium won't print wirelessly

Ok, I have been having this problem for about a month now and cannot seem to fix it.
I have an Officejet 8600 Pro Premium that I recently bought for my business to replace my old 6500. I love the printer so far but there is one problem that is extremely aggravating. Currently I have three computers connected to the printer, two running XP and one running windows 7. The ones running XP have no issues what so ever, but every few days the one running windows 7 just stops printing. In control panel I can still see the printer but the documents just sit in the print que. Same for when I try to print a test page through HPs software. The only way to get it to print again is to unistall the drivers and reinstall. Then it will print for a few days and then stop again. I don't know why this is happening only to the machine running windows 7 and not XP.
Also, whenever I try to setup e-print from the printer I get an error message saying "Unalbe to Connect: The printer could not connect to the server." I am not running a proxy or anything like that, and I'm not sure if these two problems are related.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: Also I have ink alerts set only for when I print and scan to computer is disabled.

I have the same problem.  I have the officejet pro 8600 plus connected to a wireless toshiba laptop running Windows 7 64 without any issue ever. It is perfect.  I bought another officejet pro 6600 premium and connected it wirelessly to a HP Elite desktop at my other house.  It works great for a few days then the computer can't find the printer.  The printer shows the computer on the screen and has a blue wireless signal lit up. The only way to fix this is to reinstall the software which works great for a few days and then the same problem occurs.  This has happened several times since I purchased it 2 months ago.  I am a realtor and this is a huge inconvenience when I need to print things out for my appointments but have to re install the programs to do so.
    Any suggestions please?

  • How to connect HP Officejet Pro 8610 to a Laptop that's not connect to the internet

Just bought the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all-in-one for the local Historical Society. Neither the laptop nor the printer will be connected to the Internet. The printer will only be used for printing reports, scanning images, etc.
I have just removed the instruction manual to familiarize myself with the connecting procedure but I notice there are several references that require internet access.
Is there a work-around that allows me to install/connect the printer without requiring access to the internet?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi,
How many computer will be using the printer ? If only one the USB (you may have to buy a cable) is the way to go. You can also use wireless direct to print but this is not reliable:

Just bought the following printer: Officejet Pro 8610. Installed it with the cd. Installation on the printer goes well, connected to network, strong reception. 1) Cannot make a wireless connection from laptop to printer. Followed all the steps, uninstalled and reinstalled with software from hp site 7 hours worth. Router on/off, firewall on/off etc. 2) Installed not wireless but with a usb cable, this can be done however scanner and copier work but no pinting. Testprint also doesn't work, the internal test print does. Scan doctor said that it was a software problem that could not be solved by said doctor and to uninstall and reinstall the software. Freaking sick of doing that as it does not work. Also installed the basic driver to see if this works, same story, no printing. Laptop is from 2007 with windows XP. I really need to print for work and cannot spend another full day troubleshooting this monster. Either wireless or with usb cable, i dont care....... • HP Officejet pro 8610 not connected

I have a new modem and separete Duel Router.    Router is Lynksis EA3500 with 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz capabilities.   Just bought a new HP Officejet Pro 8610 which I now have learned will only run on a 2.4 GHz system.   When I connect the printer to the wireless system it shuts down the 5 GHz network.   It kicks off all other devices.   Those devices can join the 2.4 GHz, but can no longer even see the 5.0 GHz network.   Not acceptable.
Do I need a different printer or can this be fixed?   I don't understand why the printer won't run on the 2.4 but allow the laptops, desktop and TVs use the 5 GHz.   Ridiculous.
I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Lynksis first and they verified that the router is working perfectly.   Then I spent 2 hours talking to HP in India and they just said sorry we will tell HP to make this printer capable for 5.0 in the future.
Not good - ready to return the printer.   Any other option???

First, I'm glad to hear the problem is solved.  It also points out a significant problem with third had troubleshooting.
It also reminds me of a time when I was trying to help a customer over the phone (long before we could remotely login to client computers.)  I spent a hour or so with this customer trying to figure out the answer to her problem.  I eventually jumped in my car and drove over to the customer's office.  In the middle of the screen was a big message that answered the problem.  When I asked the customer why she didn't tell me about the message, she replied that she didn't believe that it was relavant.
I am surprised that HP even had you change the bandwidth on the router.  The defaults nearly always work fine.  802.11 AC uses a wider bandwith than 802.11 G or N.  The thing is, the bandwith change is all automatic.
