HP Officejet pro 8610 not connected

I have a new modem and separete Duel Router.    Router is Lynksis EA3500 with 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz capabilities.   Just bought a new HP Officejet Pro 8610 which I now have learned will only run on a 2.4 GHz system.   When I connect the printer to the wireless system it shuts down the 5 GHz network.   It kicks off all other devices.   Those devices can join the 2.4 GHz, but can no longer even see the 5.0 GHz network.   Not acceptable.
Do I need a different printer or can this be fixed?   I don't understand why the printer won't run on the 2.4 but allow the laptops, desktop and TVs use the 5 GHz.   Ridiculous.
I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Lynksis first and they verified that the router is working perfectly.   Then I spent 2 hours talking to HP in India and they just said sorry we will tell HP to make this printer capable for 5.0 in the future.
Not good - ready to return the printer.   Any other option???

First, I'm glad to hear the problem is solved.  It also points out a significant problem with third had troubleshooting.
It also reminds me of a time when I was trying to help a customer over the phone (long before we could remotely login to client computers.)  I spent a hour or so with this customer trying to figure out the answer to her problem.  I eventually jumped in my car and drove over to the customer's office.  In the middle of the screen was a big message that answered the problem.  When I asked the customer why she didn't tell me about the message, she replied that she didn't believe that it was relavant.
I am surprised that HP even had you change the bandwidth on the router.  The defaults nearly always work fine.  802.11 AC uses a wider bandwith than 802.11 G or N.  The thing is, the bandwith change is all automatic.

My 8610 OfficeJet Pro is set up ALMOST perfectly.  It prints almost all documents including email, word, website info, etc.  HOWEVER, it will not print certain .pdf files and Word documents with Drawing Tools using within them.  I have run every test & shows successul setup of wireless printer.  I also did the HP Print & Scan troubleshoot in which the program found any problems & Fixed them.  I did not hook up the Fax part of this system.  Otherwise, all parts are working fine.  However, in trying to get it to work I have disabled my Print from phone as well.   It was working prior to trying to print a document with Drawing Tools & changing settings on the printer to try & get it to work.   It is showing me it is connected but my phone is not recoginzing the printer. When I try & Print the document with the Drawing Tool within it, it sends it to the printer, and printer shows "Printing Report", But nothing happens.

  • Officejet Pro 251dw not connected

I have my new HP Officejet Pro 251dw connected wirelessly to an Apple AirPort Express router. The router is also connected to two Mac computers, both running on OS-X 10.9 Mavericks. For a week I've had no problems printing off the desktop computer, and I hadn't tried printing from the laptop. Today the printer refused to print anything from either computer, even though everything is turned on. When I click on the printer icon in the Dock, I get a message "printer not connected." The printer thinks it's connected; the wireless network test page and network configuration pages all passed with flying colors. What could be going on?

  • CM755A HP Officejet Pro 8500A Not Connecting

Bought my Officejet Pro 8500a in July, 2011.  Hooked it up via USB directly to my PC and it worked great for almost two years.  This past winter I started getting messages saying it was not connected.  I would power it off and back-on, remove and re-plug the USB cable and it would start working.  But this past May it stopped connecting at all.  Is it dead?  Is there anything I can do to fix?  This was a great printer and I am shocked that we are having what appears to be hardware problems after only two years.  The printer works fine as a copier or for printing from a memory card.  But it will not connect via USB or via wireless.  Is there anything I can do?

    Hi izzie1,
I understand you're having an issue with your Officejet 8500A connecting wirelessly. I will definitely do my best to help you to get it to connect again.
First, I'd like you to print a Network Configuration Page, which you can see how to do by clicking here. Once that page is printed you want to look at the URL(s) for Embedded Web Server. If it is 0.0.0.0 the printer is no longer connected and you will need to reconnect it. To reconnect it please click here and look for Wireless network connection, and follow down to where it shows you how to reconnect the printer using either the Wireless Setup Wizard on the front panel of the printer.
If when you print the Network Configuration Page and you see an IP address, instead of all 0's (examples would be 192.168.1.2 or maybe 10.0.1.1) then you will want to go to your computer, download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor by clicking here and follow the instructions it presents you with.
I hope these steps are helpful, and I hope you have a great day!

  • Win 8.1 and HP Officejet Pro 8600 not connecting

Priior to installing Windows 8.1, my printer worked fine.  I installed Windows 8.1 and came across the message - Printer Error - Before you can perform printer-relate tasks...  I removed and reinstalled the printer and it worked.  I printed several documents yesterday.  This morning, went to print and the same error message appeared, printing error.  I checked under devices and printers and the HP printer was grayed out.   When I clicked on the printer under device and printers, it says printer not connected.
I am using the printer on a wireless network.

    Hi Dennis1825,
I understand you've been having some issues with your Officejet 8600 printing since upgrading to Windows 8.1. I'm sorry to hear this has been happening but I will certainly try to help.
To get a little extra help with this issue, I'd like you to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (running for both Fix Printing and Fix Scanning to make sure it doesn't detect any issues) and hopefully it should be able to fix this for us.

    Hi Carlman,
I'd like to help you obtain a more consistent  connection. I feel that disabling the IPv6 would help us accomplish this. Please use the instructions in the following post to enable only the IPv4.
Re: Office Jet Pro 8600 N911a printer
The IPv6 often times causes interference with the IPv4, thus I believe this should resolve the issue.
Please let me know if it does or does not, thanks.

  • How to connect HP Officejet Pro 8610 to a Laptop that's not connect to the internet

Just bought the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all-in-one for the local Historical Society. Neither the laptop nor the printer will be connected to the Internet. The printer will only be used for printing reports, scanning images, etc.
I have just removed the instruction manual to familiarize myself with the connecting procedure but I notice there are several references that require internet access.
Is there a work-around that allows me to install/connect the printer without requiring access to the internet?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi,
How many computer will be using the printer ? If only one the USB (you may have to buy a cable) is the way to go. You can also use wireless direct to print but this is not reliable:

Just bought the following printer: Officejet Pro 8610. Installed it with the cd. Installation on the printer goes well, connected to network, strong reception. 1) Cannot make a wireless connection from laptop to printer. Followed all the steps, uninstalled and reinstalled with software from hp site 7 hours worth. Router on/off, firewall on/off etc. 2) Installed not wireless but with a usb cable, this can be done however scanner and copier work but no pinting. Testprint also doesn't work, the internal test print does. Scan doctor said that it was a software problem that could not be solved by said doctor and to uninstall and reinstall the software. Freaking sick of doing that as it does not work. Also installed the basic driver to see if this works, same story, no printing. Laptop is from 2007 with windows XP. I really need to print for work and cannot spend another full day troubleshooting this monster. Either wireless or with usb cable, i dont care....... • HP Officejet Pro 8610 does not connect to laptop via wireless network

I have a new HP Officejet Pro 8610. It is connected wirelessly to my home network. My laptop, running Windows 7, is connected to the same network, but cannot find the printer. I have tried turning everything off and resetting the router, but still have the same issue - my laptop cannot find the printer.
I am able to email a document from my laptop to the printer using the printer's email address.
What can I do to get my laptop to find the printer on the wireless network?

    Hey!
This is an issue with your wireless, you either have to get your router looked at you are looking at relocating your printer and your router so they are closer together. If you are able to connect all of your devices to the network fine when you are in the same room; Call HP Technical Phone Support.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.

  • Officejet Pro 8610: Will not Auto Answer

Evening all.  We just purchased two HP Officejet Pro 8610's and have set them up at the office, however, we have noticed that even though we have the Auto Answer feature enabled, neither machine is automatically answering.  Instead they are still requiring a manual "yes, go ahead and answer that" button press which does not work for us as we often do not have people around those machines.

    Hi RandyT9,
I believe it is related to distintive ring setting. Have you tried to set the Distinctive Ring feature to All Rings and see if the printer can answer it automatically?
If you using distintive ring  service, please refer to User manual on the distinctive ring setting.
If you are not using a distinctive ring service, check to make sure that the Distinctive Ring
feature on the printer is set to All Rings.
    Hope this may helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 Will Not Print

I have a new Officejet Pro 8610 which has been working fine but today it would not print. Everyting else still worked, the printer is detected by USB and all of the cleaning/ alignment procedures work from my PC as normal. Scaning a document worked OK as well. I tried to run a test print from the printer list on windows, this didn't work either. So I uninstalled the supplied software and reinstalled it again, still would not print. At this point I installed the software on my old laptop and connected if by USB again and it worked fine, printed straight away. The only difference in the install was when selecting which additional programmes to install, one said it was already installed even though I had unistalled the software before. That programme was the Product Improvement Study which I can't get rid of. Everytime it is still there. Is this causing my problems and how do I get it off my PC as I am unable to find it anywhere to remove it. Any help would be appreciated.

no one answered this questio for me or even gave me advice....
I got it to print from explorer but not chrome .So for some reason it decided to stop printing from chrome all on its on.Not sure how long it ill print from ie but we'll see .thanks for no advice

  • Hp officejet pro 8610 - Unable to connect to server

Hello. I bought a printer hp officejet pro 8610. I have a home worth router Zyxel Keenetik. My laptop and smartphone access to the Internet via a router (to access the Internet proxy server is not required). I set up the printer on a wireless connection. Configured to print from a laptop to a local network - this works fine. And now trying to set up ePrint, but faced with the problem - I can not run a web-service on the printer. The message - "Unable to connect to server". I downloaded from HP new version of firmware for the printer and installed it, but the problem remained.

    Hi,
Try setting a manual public DNS as following and check if that may help:
Open the Network tab within the printer's web page.
Select IPv4 within the Wireless section.
Select a Manual IP, then click the Suggest an IP button and allow it a few moments.
Once the fields being updated, change the DNS section as following:
    Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
    Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4.
Apply and save the changes, then try enableing Web Services again and check for any difference.
Please let me know if that may help,

  • Officejet Pro 8610 - Can't connect to wireless network (and has similar issue with previous printer)

When I returned from a trip, I was unable to connect to my trusty HP All-in-one 7510 that I had on my network for three years.  I tried troubleshooting it, reinstalling the software on numerous computers, and fixing the printer, but alas the printer said that it was connected to the network, and none of my computers wanted to find it anymore.

My new HP Officejet Pro 8610 will not print documents, spreadsheets, or printer test pages containing Times New Roman font (of any size).  It does not put a job in the print queue.  In Excel, I receive the "Generic_2_Q294552"  error message. My setup:  An HP Pavilion Elite computer NY809AV-ABA e9119t; running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1; HP Laserjet 5L, HP PCS 1310, and HP D4360 all print the font just fine. My new printer:  HP Officejet Pro 8610, firmware revision FDP1CN1502AR, connected via USB cable.  [Also connected via ethernet cable to cable modem.] What I have done so far to troubleshoot the last 3 days:  Reinstalled the printer (3 times), the most recent today with an installer issued today; rebooted the printer; rebooted the computer after each significant change; updated the firmware in the printer; tried two different USB cables; tried printing the fonts in Microsoft Word 7, Microsoft Excel 7, and directly from the font file; reinstalled the Times New Roman fonts from backup; visited the forums and tried all of the solutions I could for any similar problem; tried the winprint, hpzppw71, and hpzpplhn print processors with both RAW and NT EMF 1.008 data types; found and repaired all problems I could find with any hardware and software, as well as updating all software to the latest version.

Thanks for trying to help.  I am happy to report my experiments and results. Microsoft Word:I open a blank document.  Type something in.  Select the entire text.  Change the font.  When I change to some fonts (those listed on my DOES print) the document shows up in the print queue and prints.  When I change to the other fonts (those listed as DOES NOT print) nothing happens.  It just sits there.  No messages.  No crash.  Nothing in the print queue.  I can walk away for hours (as I have done) and come back and nothing has happened.  When I change back to a DOES print font it prints.  Change it back to a DOES NOT print font and it doesn't.  Repeatable.  Consistent.  No configuration changes or installs have changed it. Microsoft Excel:I open a black spreadsheet.  Type something in.  Highlight the entire text.  Change the font.  When I change to a DOES print font it prints.  When I change to a DOES NOT print font I get this: "Microsoft Office Excel    Your file could not be printed due to an error on HP Officejet Pro 861   on 0.  There are several possible reasons:. There may be loose cables or a bad connection between your computer and printer. For more information about troubleshooting printing problems, chick Help.   Show Help >>" when I click the Show Help >> button I get: "This error can be caused by:
General problems: The printer may be unavailable, the network may be down, the communication port to the printer may be corrupt or unavailable, a hardware error at the computer may have occurred (out of paper, paper jam, out of ink, out of toner, etc), and a language setting may need to be reset from the Regional Options control panel.
Local problems: There are several reasons for a local printer (a printer that is attached directly to your computer) to fail:
Check to make sure the printer has paper, ink, and/or toner and check the cables.
If the printer appears to be functional and a printer test by the printer itself indicates the printer is working properly, then check the cables, printer port from the computer, and configuration of the printer at the computer.
Occasionally, an application can develop a conflict with the printer driver and cause a memory leak which corrupts the printer port. If all else fails, restart the computer, recycle the power to the printer, and try printing again.
Occasionally it is even necessary to delete the printer driver and reinstall the latest version of the printer driver.
Network problems: There are various reasons for a network printer to be inaccessible: the name may have changed, it may be out of paper, out of ink, out of toner, down for maintenance, the network could be down, or a printer job previous to yours has stalled due to incorrect settings on the user's computer who last submitted a print job, or even your printer driver cannot communicate correctly with the printer. Network related printer failures are usually best handled by your local technical support.
Memory problemsn occasion, large print jobs with complex graphics or consisting of several hundred pages, which can consume large quantities of memory on the printer, may cause a problem (especially if there was an over run of memory at the printer). You may want to try reducing the amount of complex graphics in your print job, or break the print job up into smaller segments and see if that corrects your problem. It is not uncommon for a very complex graphic to have a defect or error which prevents it from printing on any printer. It may be necessary to load new or revised graphic converters or drivers in order to alleviate a problem of this type.
For more information about fixing problems related to printing, see Microsoft Windows Help and Support. (Click the Start button, and then click Help and Support.)" Excel keeps right on going.  Doesn't crash.  Just pops up the gray dialog box.  Behind the box popped up is another box (that goes away then the dialog box is closed) saying:  "Now printing page 1 of 1'Book1' on theHP Officejet Pro 861     on 0" The format of these messages does seem strange now that I look at it so carefully while trying to type EXACTLY what I see.   I think I will try to shorten the name of the printer. Once again, Respectfully submitted for analysis, review, suggestions, and criticism. Tom
