HP Officejet Pro 8610 - Tray 2

I've just purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8610 with an A8Z70A 2nd tray. The 2nd tray is recognized on the the printer but not on the software.
I am using the 2nd tray for legal size plain paper.
I have updated firmware & drivers. Not fixed.
What do I need to do so I can select Tray 2 when printing for MS Excel?
This question was solved.
View Solution.

Hi,
Be sure to enable the second tray on the driver, then it will become available for selection:
Open the contorl panel and select devices and printers.
Right lick the 8610 printer and select Printer Properties.
Open teh Devices tab.
Set Tray 2 as installed and confirm the changes.
Note: you may also set a form to tray assignment for specific paper sizes for the different trays, that wil automaticalaly select the proper tray for the specific paper size.

  • HP Officejet pro 8610, wanting to print transparency

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all in one printer, and want to attempt home screen printing some shirts for my 9 year old's hockey team. My friend lent me her YuDu home screen printing machine. I am needing to print the design on a transparency sheet. I have the transparency sheets here, but I am not seeing that option anywhere. I am very new to computers, and any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thank You

    Hi there,
Yes, I believe you can - BUT, you need to make sure your transparencies are INKJET transparencies.  I see from a search online that these are widely available....at Staples, Amazon, etc.
You should just be able to load the transparency in the tray (I would only load one at a time) and then when you go to print, you would selecting Printing Preferences (this can be different, depending on what software you are using) and then on the Paper/Quality tab, select Letter as the Paper Size (assuming they are standard letter-size transparencies) and then 'Transparency Film' as the Media Type.
I found this YouTube video that might be helpful - but please note that this is not created or sanctioned by HP.  Just a video I came across while looking for more information.
    Hope that helps!
    Thanks!

  • Mac OS X Won't Print Card Stock on Brand New OfficeJet Pro 8610 e AiO

Hi All - I print cardstock all the time and just purchased a new OfficeJet Pro 8610 eAiO from Best Buy 2 days ago.  The salesman told me it was the best option for cardstock printing and the specs say it can handle 110lbs cardstock.  It is hooked up and printed a couple standard paper pages nicely.  But when I put in the cardstock, it made all the noises like it was printing, but then "Load Paper" shows up on the LCD screen.  We have tried unplugging it, but that doesnt do anything.  After a little bit of fiddling with the tray (pushing and pulling on all tabs and springs we see), we put the tray back in and then it prints.  But we have to do this with every print request.  I have read to select "heavy paper or card stock" in the printer properties and to disable tray 2.  I dont have a tray 2 on my printer (that I am aware of at least).  And I dont see an option for printer properties for me to change anything.  Does anyone have directions for this process?  Also - I read that the printer may work if it is kept nearly full of paper?  Has anyone had success with this?  Any help is appreciated.

    Hi KRichBC,
Thank you again for answering my questions!
Checking over the printer's specifications, found at this website. HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630, 8640, and 8660 e-All-in-One Printer Series Printer Specifications. This is a supported paper size at 8.5 x 11, if the paper type is Index Card Letter.
I also would recommend trying the solutions within this guide. An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the All-in-One Does Not Pick Up Paper. Again please, try a custom size print to see if that will work. Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X.
Hope this information helps you, and hope to hear from you soon!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 Add Printer issue on Mac

I purchased the HP Officejet Pro 8610 and cannot get it successfully set up on my MacBook Pro (operating OS X 10.7.5).  During the "Add Printer" phase, I receive the following error message:  "The software for this printer is currently unavailable.  Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software".
I've downloaded and completed the steps up to this point by using the link from install CD (HP-Officejet-Pro-8610_v12.32.0.dmg) and by downloading after unsuccessfully troubleshooting from the HP webite (HP-Officejet-Pro_8610_12.32.0-2.dmg).
Can you please assist in determing what my next step should be?

    Hi,
First reboot your Mac, then click the Apple icon and select Software Update.
From the listed app store click the Store menu and then on Repload Page.
Be sure to install any listed HP or Apple update.
Once you are done, open Print & Scan and try adding the printer again.
    May you see any difference?

    I have tried the following:
    - Uninstalling and reinstalling from CD provided with printer
    - Using the HP printer troubleshooter assistant, no success
    - Downloading the software direct from HP website
    - Updating the firmware using OJP8610_R1416A.exe
-Changing the port to the network port (in this case it is 192.168.0.200, it responds to a ping, also set the printer to have a static ip)

  • How to connect HP Officejet Pro 8610 to a Laptop that's not connect to the internet

Just bought the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all-in-one for the local Historical Society. Neither the laptop nor the printer will be connected to the Internet. The printer will only be used for printing reports, scanning images, etc.
I have just removed the instruction manual to familiarize myself with the connecting procedure but I notice there are several references that require internet access.
Is there a work-around that allows me to install/connect the printer without requiring access to the internet?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi,
How many computer will be using the printer ? If only one the USB (you may have to buy a cable) is the way to go. You can also use wireless direct to print but this is not reliable:

  • Can not update firmware on Officejet Pro 8610

Can't update firmware on Officejet Pro 8610, Hp update site shows available firmware update needed, disabled firewall, shut off wireless, run program, window for update appears, but checkbox greyed out. I've talked to HP Tech, He was positive newer firmware was available, I've tried starting in safe mode w/networking, disabled, MS Security essentials turned off, etc. Have Dell Dimension, excellent running, Windows 7 Home Premium, Xfinity cable network modem (very fast), I'm getting frustrated.
Does anybody have a suggestion? Thanks, Jim

  • Officejet pro 8610 won't scan in color

I'm using a Mac OS 10.6.8 and just connected my new HP Officejet Pro 8610.  It is only scanning in black and white.  I do not see a place to select for color (when you select copy you have that choice but not on scan).  It prints in color and makes color copies just fine.  I also cannot see a place where I can tell it which folder on the computer to save scans to.  Can you help me?

    Hi @just1me ,
I'd like to help you be able to scan in color.
Did you download and install the Full Feature Software or run the Apple Updates?
Here is a document for Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.
Try the Apple Software to see if you have the same results.
Here is a screen shot for where to change the color settings, scanning with the HP Scan Software.
After clicking scan, click on the drop down to get more options.
After showing the preview you can select the Edit icon at the bottom for more features.
To save the scan, select the Send Icon.
    Hope this helps.

  • Officejet Pro 8610: Will not Auto Answer

Evening all.  We just purchased two HP Officejet Pro 8610's and have set them up at the office, however, we have noticed that even though we have the Auto Answer feature enabled, neither machine is automatically answering.  Instead they are still requiring a manual "yes, go ahead and answer that" button press which does not work for us as we often do not have people around those machines.
In running a Fax Test Report I got the following print-out...
    Fax Hardware Test:  PASS
Fax Connected to Active Telephone Wall Jack:  PASS
Phone Cord Connected to Correct Port on Fax:  PASS
Using Correct Type of Phone Cord with Fax:  PASS
    Dial Tone Detection:  PASS
    Fax Line Condition Test:  PASS
    Language:  English
    Country/Region:  USA
    Auto Answer:  On
    Rings to Answer:  2
    Fax Paper Size:  Letter
Tone or Pulse Dialing:  Tone Dialing
    Fax Sound Volume:  Soft
    Distinctive Ring:  Single Rings
    Busy Redial:  Redial
    No Answer Redial:  No Redial
    Automatic Reduction:  On
    Backup Fax Reception:  On
    Error Correction Mode:  On
    Fax Speed:  Medium (14400)
    Fax Forwarding:  Off
    Communication Error Redial:  Redial
Our header and number have also been set.  At this time I am assuming I missed something in the User's Manual, since this is happening with both machines.  Might someone know of what I missed?
    This question was solved.

    Hi RandyT9,
I believe it is related to distintive ring setting. Have you tried to set the Distinctive Ring feature to All Rings and see if the printer can answer it automatically?
If you using distintive ring  service, please refer to User manual on the distinctive ring setting.
If you are not using a distinctive ring service, check to make sure that the Distinctive Ring
feature on the printer is set to All Rings.
    Hope this may helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 (Network)' is offline every morning

I am running Windows 8. I use IE 11 and Chrome on occasion. Every morning I have trouble "waking up" my printer. I get "HP Officejet Pro 8610 (Network)' is offline". Sometimes turning the printer on and off resets it but today nothing seems to work. I even updated drivers. The rest of my network (excluding printer usage) is working fine. I have not been on a public network so that is not an issue nor has anyone else in our household.  I need to correct this every morning problem. Really, any time the printer goes to sleep I have this issue. I'm unsure if I can stop it from going to sleep or not since I can't even see it from any of our computers. Someone please help. I've been dealing with this about a month. I had previously purchased an Epson printer similar and it now sits in a box in my office because of similiar annoying issues. I previously had HP all-in-ones for about 15 years with no problems. This one is starting to make me wonder about the declining quality of HP printers. Please help as soon as possible. My son has a paper due Tuesday and can't print it. Thanks

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your Officejet 8610 is offline every morning and it seems like this printer has trouble waking up. I will do my best to assist you! Please follow this entire HP document on What is Sleep Mode? You can try updating the firmware, which should help, since your printer is losing wireless connection when it goes to sleep: 1) Press the right arrow on your printer2) Press Setup (Wrench)3) Press Web Services4) Press Printer update and check for update now Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. I just want to see if this makes a difference. Another option you have is setting up schedule on and off. This will help with the sleep mode, as you will determine what time you would like this printer to turn and off. Note-If you decided to go down this route, if you receive faxes all the time, schedule on/off might not be a good idea. If you set a time frame when this printer is supposed to turn off, then you will not receive a fax. Also, if ePrint is enabled, this feature will not work. 1) Press the setup menu (Wrench)2) Press power management3) Press Schedule On Yes and set the time frame4) Press Schedule Off Yes and set the time frame I just want to make sure that your printer isn't going offline because of your router, not by the sleep mode. Just in case, I will provide an HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. This will allow you to set a static IP address. Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 - Extremely slow printing

    Hello,
I have just purchased my new HP 8610 All in one printer. I have set everything up wirelessly. For some reason when I print documents it is extremely slow printing. I cant seem to find the problem for this. For a 5 page documents it could take minutes to print. Please help, thanks in advance

    Hi nat1985,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet pro 8610 is printing PDF files very slow, and I am happy to help you with this slow printing issue!
For further assistance, I will need to know the following information:
If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
If the printer prints slow from Notepad.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 fax error message

Good morning.  I have two Officejet Pro 8610s.  One is in my office running MS Office 7, the other is at home running Mac.
To conserve power I have both printers set to turn off in the evenings.  Neither is being used as a fax machine and neither has ever had the phone cord plugged in.
On both printers I am consistently getting the error message "Telephone cord is connected. To receive faxes, the printer must be turned on.  Note that the printer is scheduled to be turned off at XX:XX every (days listed).  To change the schedule, use the Schedule On and Off feature in the Setup menu."
Almost everytime I go to make copies or initiate a scan from the printer I have to click "OK" for this error.  The error also pops up about every 30 minutes and makes a ding.   This wouldn't be annoying at all except the printer is positioned next to my left ear and I"ve been listening to it for six months.
How do I stop these messages, aside from removing the scheduled turn off and on?
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

    Hello @drummer12345 ,
    Welcome to the HP forum.
I understand that you are getting a fax error message form your two 8610's. I would like to help you with this issue.
I find it odd that you get this message. You mentioned that you have never set the unit up for fax.
Please take a moment and make sure that no cords are plugged into the Fax ports on the printer.
If there are none, go into the setup menu.
Once in the setup menu, select the fax setup option.
Go into the advanced fax setup option.
scroll to the bottom of the list and select restore defaults.
If that does not work try a hard reset.
With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord.
    Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the printer.
If this was happening to just one printer, I would believe this to be a firmware issue.
For this to happen to both your printers, I  get a feeling it could be something related to the printers environment.

  • HP OFFICEJET PRO 8610 SCANNER IS BUSY

I recently set up a new system for a friend.  He is using the officejet pro 8610 with a new mac using osx 10.9.
The printer is set up wirelessly.  Printing works but the scanner keeps giving an error that it is busy.
From the printer I can attempt to scan to his computer and it appears as though it is contacting the computer and preparing to scan but it errors out.  Usually with a message regarding the scanner being busy.
I can attempt to scan from the computer as well but that doesn't work either.
I have pulled the power from the printer and rebooted.  I have done the disk repair and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software from the website.
I also attempted to install the new firmware but for some reason got an error that I had cancelled the process when in fact I did not.
    Anyone??

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 Will Not Print

I have a new Officejet Pro 8610 which has been working fine but today it would not print. Everyting else still worked, the printer is detected by USB and all of the cleaning/ alignment procedures work from my PC as normal. Scaning a document worked OK as well. I tried to run a test print from the printer list on windows, this didn't work either. So I uninstalled the supplied software and reinstalled it again, still would not print. At this point I installed the software on my old laptop and connected if by USB again and it worked fine, printed straight away. The only difference in the install was when selecting which additional programmes to install, one said it was already installed even though I had unistalled the software before. That programme was the Product Improvement Study which I can't get rid of. Everytime it is still there. Is this causing my problems and how do I get it off my PC as I am unable to find it anywhere to remove it. Any help would be appreciated.

no one answered this questio for me or even gave me advice....
I got it to print from explorer but not chrome .So for some reason it decided to stop printing from chrome all on its on.Not sure how long it ill print from ie but we'll see .thanks for no advice
