HP Officejet Pro 8620 Set up

At the Set up point to Load paper. Paper was loaded and Next button pressed, it went to Calibration 0% may take 3 Min. then it goes back to Load Paper into Tray.  I have repeated at least 6 times.  What is going on?

Hi Wagoner58,
Sorry for the frustration, but I am glad it was a simple solution for you.
Regarding your scanning, what happens when you try to scan? Do you see any error messages?
How is the printer connected? Wireless, Ethernet, or USB?
Are you able to make copies? Copy Text or Mixed Documents. (This way we can test the printer's hardware).
In the meantime, please see these scanning guides:
A 'Computer Not Found' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays for HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630,....
Scan from Windows 8 With the Full Feature HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers.
Your Setup Poster can be found at this website, HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer User guides along with your printer's user guide.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8620 - set up problem with MAC OSX version 10.7.5

I have just bought a new Officejet Pro 8620 and all set up fine to a point. Problem is that when I try the HP Utility set-up and click on "Add Printer" and identify it as "Bonjour Malfunction" and select the printer from the pull down menu list, I receive the message:
"The software for this printer is currently unavailable, please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software".
I have already downloaded the latest software from theHP website - but stil no resolution.
Any help please would be gratefully received.

    Hello @Kennynic!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I would be happy to provide some help regarding your Officejet 8620 and installing the software on the Mac.  The first thing I suggest is to ensure all the HP Software is removed from the Mac. I suggest uninstalling the HP Software.  After the software is uninstalled I recommend performing a "repair disk permissions" on your Mac. A repair disk permissions is a utility built in the Mac operating system designed to locate and resolve issues or errors that may cause complications when re-installing. After the repair disk permission is complete restart your Mac and try adding the printer again.
To uninstall the HP Software click here: Uninstalling HP Software
To perform a repair disk permission click here: Performing a Repair Disk Permission
There is only software available for Mac 10.10.  Unfortunately there is no full feature software and driver available for Mac 10.7.  You should still be able to add the printer using the AirPrint drivers.  Go into System Preferences from the Apple icon and click on printer and scanner.  In the printer and scanner window click the add printer icon and you should be able to add the 8600 printer via Wi-Fi and AirPrint.
I recommend checking for software updates on the Mac. To check for software updates click the "apple" icon at the to left and click on "software update".  Install any HP or printer updates. After any updates you should restart the computer. and try printing.
Please post back and let me know how everything goes!

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 - Will Not Set Up on Desktop

I have connected a new OfficeJet Pro 8620 to my wireless network.  All Apple devices (Mac, Ipad, Iphone) can see and print to the printer without a problem.   My desktop computer (HP with a Cisco Router) sees the printer to be selected for installation when I attempt to add the printer.  But, then says there is an "Installation Fail".   Similarly, on the HP set up software, entering the IP address of the printer results in an error (claiming that its an incorrect address - - which it is not, as I can access it throught the web server).

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 Embedded Web Server

I'm trying to use the scan to email feature.  I enter the ISP address get a page with my printer name.
I get this after selecting scan; " You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact your network administrator or the person who set up the printer."   I am the admin and I installed the software.
When I go to "You are being redirected to a secure HTTPS-enabled version of this page." I get a 'This page is not available, ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT.  I tried in Chrome as well as Explorer, get the same timed out error.
I get "resource (192.168.XXX.X) i online, but isn't responding to connection attempts."
I've restarted printer, router, computer. I have installed, uninstalled several times, made sure computer and printer were on the same router, firmware is updated, not sure what else to check, what am I doing wrong??
I can get online on all other websites.

    Hi,
Regarding the 1st issue that is expected, the Webscan feature is disabled by default and that shows the error one you click the Scan tab.
It can be enabled by selecting Settings > Administrating Settings and enabling Webscan.
When you click on Scan to Email > Out Going Email profiles, have you clicked the Advanced button and confirmed to visit the secure page? it may show a timeout once denying the secure site visit.
I would also suggest trying to set up the feature from the HP Software:
Right-click the Start button () in the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, type 8620 and open the HP Officejet Pro 8620 software.
Click on HP Scan to Email Wizard and configure it from that dialog, may you see any issues then?

HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 is a great value for all the features it provides. "Scan to Email" was one of the reasons i bought this printer. Even though i can make this fucntion work with my gmail and iCloud emails, i feel very uncomfortable in providing those emails credentials while setting up this funciton.
    1) Does the printer store the user name/password encrypted?
    2) Does EWS encrypt the password while sending it to SMTP service?
    3) Does HP provide SMTP service with HP Connected or HP Support Forum (this forum!) credentials. I will feel more comfortable in using HP's username/password for this service than GMail or Apple

    Hi,
If I remember correctly, the printer should offer you to save the email address to the adress book while scanning to email, I do not have any acces to the printer correctly to ensure that.
Additionally to add email addresses to the Email Address Book, complete the following steps:
    1. Open the embedded web server (EWS) by clicking Printer Home Page (EWS from teh HP Officejet Pro 8620 software Or
by browsing the printer IP from your browser (Click he Ethernet or Wireless icon on the bottom of the screen to see it.)
    2. On the Scan tab, click Email Address Book.
    3. Click New to add a single email address.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions. The entry is added to the Email Address Book.
You may add up to 15 email addresses.

I've done that a hundred times..   I went throught the Wi-Fi wizard & set it up again....I've  "Restored Network Defaults" again... I've followed all the instructions I found on the hp help pages..(unplugged the router & printer..etc..etc..) and a thousand other things...& nothing as fixed this!!! Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums!I hope you have a pleasant experience here. I'd like to help you with the issue you are having connecting your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One printer to the internet. I can see that you have done a lot of the preliminary troubleshooting already. I have a few other suggestions to get your web services back up and running properly. First, I'd recommend downloading the most recent firmware for you product.HP Officejet Pro 8620/8625 e-All-in-One Printer Firmware Update If the web services still will not connect after the update, try setting a manual DNS. Set a Manual DNS for Your Printer: 1. Obtain your printer's IP address      a. This can be done by pressing the wireless icon on printer.2. Enter the printer's IP address in a browser on your computer.3. Select the network tab at the top of the page.4. On the left select networking.5. Select Network Address (IP)6. Select Manual DNS Server      a. Manual Preferred DNS should read 8.8.8.8      b. Alternate DNS Server should read. 8.8.4.47. Select Apply. You might get a warning just select okay. I look forward to hearing back from you, and working toward a resolution for your issue! Thanks for posting.

Thank you. In fact, I did speak to a very friendly and helpful representative at HP. Bottom line, I returned the printer to Staples, where I bought it, and they happily gave me a new printer in the box. After I set it up and use it for a few days and will report back IF I experience a similar issue. For now, I am VERY pleased with both HP and Staples.Thank you. [Smile]

  • HP Officejet Pro 8620 Shifted Margins when printing

The only problem I find when printing paper is that the margins are always shifted. The margins of the paper on my PC display Is different to when Officejet Pro 8620 prints the paper. I tried printing with borderless on, but the margins are either to close to the top of the paper; I also tried printing with borderless off, but the margins shifts way below compared to the paper on the computer display. My older printer HP Officejet 4500 wireless has a "minimize margins" option, and the printer always prints exactly as it is on the display; however, it is no so with my newer Pro printer. I tried going to advanced options and clicking on preserve layout, which is available only when doing 2-sided printing, and the margins were still shifted; there are pictures on the bottom that can show you. I looked around preference options of the printer, paper setup, printer properties, tried readjusting settings, but the problem is persisting. I do not want to go any further, or else I might screw everything up. Additionally, the problem is not with the copy settings of the printer, I looked there too and the margin shift is turned off. Please help me find a solution. • Can I Scan to editable text on HP Officejet Pro 8620 using the Apple Printer Driver 3.0?

Can I Scan to editable text on HP Officejet Pro 8620 using the Apple Printer Driver 3.0?
I had a very difficult time getting my new HP Officejet Pro 8620 functioning as well as it does now.  I just tried scanning something as editable text for the first time and it ended up being scanned as a pdf.  At one point in my various tries there was a note on the printer screen that I did not have the HP OCR software installed.
This may be because the resolution to my installation problems with the HP Officejet Pro 8620 seems to have been reverting to operating with the HP-Apple Printer Drivers 3.0 package instead of the HP-Officejet-Pro-8620_v12.32.0.dmg installation package.
I do not, therefore, have the HP Scan application on my computer now which is where HP says its OCR software can be found.
So what I'm afraid of is that I'm now running well with the HP-Apple driver but if I do go back and install the HP Officejet Pro v12.32.0 driver software with the HP installer, in order to access the OCR softwware in HP Scan application, I'll mess up everything else.
Is there any chance that the HP-Apple Printer Drivers 3.0 package I have installed also includes OCR software?  If so where can I find instructions for activating it and using it with the HP 8620's scanner?
Or can I only get OCR capability with the HP-Officejet-Pro-8620_v12.32.0.dmg package?
Any experience with this?  Should I leave well enough alone?  Or can I somehow install the HP-Officejet-Pro-8620_v12.32.0.dmg package without messing up my current functionality?
    Thanks
    Steve

The printer driver that is installed automatically from Apple doesn't scan. The scanner part can be accessed through Image Capture, but I don't think that does any OCR on the scan. You'd need a separate program. As you noted, many of the bundled software programs have OCR built-in (albeit limited). From my experience, that is only activated when you scan to "searchable" PDF or something similar. You would then have to extract the text from the PDF.
I don't have an HP printer/scanner, so take this all with a grain of salt.
If you can just install the Scanner utilities, that shouldn't affect the printer portion.
Your other option would be to purchase separate OCR software. Unless you need to scan lots of documents into text, you should further investigate installing the HP scan utilities.
