HP OfficeJet Pro K5400 no longer prints Cyan and Yellow all of a sudden. Please help..

Officejet Pro K5400 Cyan and Yellow just stopped working at the same time (very strange).  I've read almost every post and tried almost everything including the diagnostic tests that show that everything is fine (via printer buttons), cleaning test and every other test available in the HP manual many times.  The diagnostic test shows no problems and cartridges all brand new and full to max.  However the diagnostic print only shows the Black and Magenta, but no Cyan, Yellow or any other color.  I pulled out the print heads, cleaned connectors, soaked heads and everything else you can imagine and no luck. I must have pulled the power out and "hard reset" it over a dozen times.  I can't imagine that both print heads (cyan on one, yellow on the other) just decided to die at the same time.  I cant be driver/software related because I did the tests directly from the printer.  The only thing I can think of is maybe cyan and yellow dried out when I took out the cartridges to take to staples with me for reference.  All cartridges were out of the printer for 2 weeks or so.  Any thoughts?

  • HP Officejet Pro K5400 - will NOT print on both sides

I recently built a new computer and everything is working great, EXCEPT one thing...when trying to print on both sides using Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, or another program it gives me the error message below.  My previous computer had Windows 7 installed as well and my HP Officejet Pro K5400 had no problems  printing on both sides of the paper.  I tried using the Starter CD that came with my printer, but unfortunately since it wasn't for Windows 7 (only for Windows XP and Windows Vista) it will not install it.  I also went to HP's website to downloaded the latest drivers.  I was able to download them, but it hasn't fixed my problem.   By the way, I do have a duplex unit on my prtiner (in case you're wondering).  I'm not sure if my duplex unit still works, or if it's something else.  If there are any solutions that you can give to fix this problem, I would be very appreciative.  The error message is below:
    Automatic Two-Sided Printing Module Missing
The document has been configured to print using the Automatic Two-Sided Printing Module but the module is not installed in the device.
The document will be printed one-sided.

    Hi,
First remove and re-0attach the duplex accessory at the bak of the printer to enure it is well seated:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00845167/
Next ensure the duplex unit is set as installed within the print driver by entering the  Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
    Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
Now try printing on both sides and check for any difference.

  • Officejet pro 6500 no longer prints color

My Officejet Pro 6500 (A909) will no longer print in color.  I've done all the basic checks - print cartridges full, clean/align print heads, etc. to no avail.   I've restarted the device as well.  The all-in-one is less than a year old and did print color documents initially.  But now, it will on print in black and white.  I'm using the same computers as before when it would print in color.  What could be causing this and how to fix it?   Thanks

    Sorry>  That was the 8500, not 6500 All-in-one

  • Officejet Pro L7555..grabbing print roller crumbling paper at feed then jams! HELP!

I have an Officejet Pro L 7555 and the grab roller in the right rear of the paper feed tray is grabbing and pulling the paper to the right and crunching it and causing a paper jam every time now for past 2 weeks. I have followed the online instructions and pulled the duplexer and cleaned the rollers I can get access to.  But I cannot find any grab rollers anywhere??  So I went into the papertray with a flashlight and see one grey roller that drops down to feed the paper and that is exactly where it is pulling the paper to the right and crunching it and then it jams every time.
I need help trying to figure out if this is a fixable problem or if it is cheaper to buy a new printer???
    HELP!!!

  • Can i force a officejet pro 8000 a809 to print black and white when a color cartrigde is empty?

I am trying to get two text document printed and I get an No ink/toner message on the top the printer que window. It is the Yellow ink cartridge, can I bypass this and force it to print in black and white only?

I know these posts are old, but.
To force the print to print even though some carts are empty or expired. Turn the printer off. Then hold the feed button while turning the printer on. Keep the feed button pressed for about 4-5 seconds after powering on the printer.

  • Printing from InDesign CS4 on Mac Snow Leopard to HP officejet pro K5400

I recently started using a Mac Snow Leopard with InDesign CS4; for awhile it printed fine. Then, dealing with a book mss, I had to get InDesign to convert the document to a PDF, and since that time, the Officejet Pro k5400 will only print in what appears to be the best quality, even when I tell it to print in fast draft, and even set that as a preset. Anybody had that problem? Anybody have any suggestions as to what is going on here? How can I get the printer to print in fast draft? Thanks for any help,

  • Cyan and yellow are not printing on HP officejet pro 8500 all-in-one printer A909

I have an Officejet Pro All-in-One 8500 A909a printer, using OS X operating system.  Cyan and yellow are not printing. I've ran the Print Quality Diagnostics Page and they do not show up there or on the align page. My ink levels are good.
Can you help me find and fix the problem?
    Thanks

    Hi DavidM2,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having issues with the Cyan and the Yellow ink cartridges as well.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If you are still having issues then try to replace the cartridges.
Let me know how you make out and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Officejet Pro K5400 printing problems after update to Mavericks OSX 10.9

    Hi,
I have printing problems with my Officejet Pro K5400 after update to Mavericks OSX 10.9.
Now after printing 1 page the printer prints an extra page with '2345X' sentence on it. As this problem started right after updating, I suppose there is a problem with an update.

This patch did solve our problem with the K5400 feeding a "blank sheet".
    Thank you.

  • How do i set my officejet pro k5400 to print avery business cards

my office jet pro k5400  starts off printing my Avery 8865 business cards correctly, but the image migrates upward on each line of cards.
I printed it on a piece of plain paper and held it and the blank card stock up to a light, and they were lined up.  They Avery help desk said I needed to adjust my printer to the Avery card stock.  How does one do that.  Thanks

Here is the Manual link for your printer.   http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00873752.pdf
    Go to Page 17
To achieve this margin setting on a computer running Windows, click the
    Advanced
tab in the print driver, and select
    Minimize Margins.
You might print out the Configuration Page (if your printer has the button) and see what your setups are.
Also, under Devices and Printer, you should be able to right click on your printer, choose printer preferences and look for an option there.  I have downloaded template options from Avery at http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/ that has allowed me to print specific media that I could not normally do on a basic printer.
On some Avery documents, the leading border edge is different than the trailing edge, so they have to go in a specific direction.
    I hope this helps.

  • HP Officejet 6500 Wireless will no longer print cyan

Printer will no longer print Cyan.

Make sure to use HP Genuine Ink Cartridges for your Printer as the use of refilled ink can the damage the Printhead which may cost a more serious problem related to your printing. First, check your ink levels, if your cyan ink seems to be empty then, replace it. If not, got to the Setup menu of your printer then look for "Tools" then select "clean printhead". This allow the printer to free the printhead from dust build-ups and any dried ink. If cleaning the printhead still doesn't fix the issue then try another Cyan ink cartridge. If replacing the cartride still doesn't solve the issue then you must take all the cartridges out including the printhead and manually clean the copper contacts of the printhead by wipping it with a soft lint free cloth. After cleaning, insert all back-in and perform another cleaning in the tools menu of your printer. Problem should be fixed after performing all that steps.

    Hi,
The HP site doesn't list Windows server 2k12 R2 when trying to find driver for the "HP OfficeJet Pro K5400" printer. Is there a way i can use it anyway?

I'd try the Windows 8.1 driver since it is same kernel.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 won't print if one cartridge is empty?

    Hi,
I have an OfficeJet Pro 8500 printer. I  woudn't really need color printing. My yellow catridge run out of ink, and the printer woudn't allow me to print at all since I don't purchase a new cartridge. If it's true, quite sad from a company that is "committed to providing quality products in an environmentally sound manner".
    Thanks for your help.

The Officejet Pro 8500 pigmented ink (like paint) and a separate printhead and ink supplies with plumbing to connect them.  Some color ink is required to keep the printheads from clogging.
HP wants your printer to be able to print after you replace the supplies.  There are some workarounds to force the printer to allow printing even with empty color cartridges, but doing this will likely ruin the printhead and preclude later color printing without replacing the printhead.  In the 8500 one printhead is used for Black and Yellow, the other is Cyan and Magenta.  The printheads are $65 each, personally I would not suggest overriding the protection as described in this post.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Not Printing & Heads won't clean.

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910. It has not been used for about 2 months until yesterday, but was left powered on. The Black, Yellow and Cyan carts were getting a bit low and my wife want to print a few dozen pages of black text. I had a HP 940 Black cart to hand so I replaced it. She printed about 2 dozen Word pages in draft format which uses less ink. They printed OK, but when she went to print more, the print got fainter with each page until they were coming out of the printer totally blank then when the cyan ran out the printer stopped printing blank pages all together. I installed new HP Cyan and Yellow carts, but the printer continued to spit out blank pages. I printed a Quality Diagnostic Page and it showed one column of blocks in Test Pattern 2 missing completely and some white streaks in at least one of the colored blocks. At this point the Ink cart levels were K=90, Y=90, M=50, C=90. The Print Head Health was KY=Good, MC=Good. At this point I ran an Alignment and the report showed all colors except Cyan which was completely missing. I had remembered from a few year ago, that this is one simple way to show if color heads were not printing. I then performed 3 successive level 1, 2 and 3 cleanings, and each time the cleaning report showed less color until only faint yellow showed on the printout. Also the alignment now only shows faint traces of yellow.  I suspect the heads need to be either replaced or removed and cleaned manually. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks very much in advance. Peter B.

Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I see that you are having some issues with printing from your Officejet 8500A. I can help with that. This document outlines how to troubleshoot print quality issues with your printer. If that fails then this document will assist you with cleaning the printhead. If after following those documents then the printer itself is going to need to be replaced. You can contact HP support by clicking on this link. On the next page scroll to the bottom and fill out the form. When that is completed you will find some information on how to contact HP directly. If this resolves your issues then please let others know by clicking on Accept as Solution below my post.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 will not print multiple copies

When I first set up my HP Officejet Pro 8600 I could print multiple copies.  Not sure when, how, or why but I can no longer print more than one copy of any document at a time regardless if it is one page or 100 pages.   I tried to update the drivers but the update failed as it said it could not uninstall the printer. When I did the error reporting it said there was no solution.
My OS is Window XP Home
The printer is connected via network.
I print mainly from MS Word 2010 and Adobe PDF files and I have the same issue from either program.

Since the drivers and software refuses to update automatically, force it to. Uninstall all of the printer software and install it back using a fresh download. That will ensure that you have the latest driver and software for the printer installed and eliminate the need for updates for a while. I'll link them below. If that doesn't fix the problem with multiple documents not printing, try using an alternate driver for the printer. I'll link those instructions below. Let me know what happens.

  • Constant Printing Restart on a networked HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909N Series printer

    Hello,
I'm curious if anyone has run into this problem before.  I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n Series printer that I have setup as a network printer.  This has been accomplished through a print server.
I installed the printer's drivers based upon the cd that came with the printer, in the box.
The problem is that whenever a user prints, say it's a simply one page document... the printer will repeatedly print that single page until it runs out of paper.  I have stopped/restarted the print spooler.  I've rebooted the printer and the print server.  I have deleted the drivers and readded them.  I've tried installing drivers from HP's website and then installing those.  I have attempted to delete the printer from the server and start from scratch.
When I monitor the print queue, I can see the service restart after each document prints.  I can't figure out how to get this to stop.
Does anyone have a suggestion; or has anyone run into this problem?  I'm not sure which forum to put this in.  I chose the Networks/Wireless forum, even though this is running on a wired network with wireless disabled.
    I certainly appreciate any asistance.
    -Craig

It ended up being an issue with the port.  I had used the same port as the last HP printer that I replaced.  This printer needs to run on a TCP/IP port, and not an HP port.
    Problem solved.
Oh, and it was wired, with wireless disabled.
