Hp officejet pro k8600 issues

hello,
i've had this printer for a few years with no problems.  last month it stopped working.  it doesn't seem to be communicating with my computer, at all.  everything seems to work until it is time to print.
in the printer status window, it says the document will be printing, but nothing happens.  i have trouble shooted the problem but nothing seems to help!  i have unloaded and reloaded the driver, i have made sure the printer is not offline, i purchased a fancy new usb cable, but nothing.
it may be an issue with my computer.  when i plug i or unplug the usb cable into my laptop (dell latitude d510), it used to make a nice little beep-BEEP sound (one for going in, one for going out).  now, it only makes the going-out sounds.  that is why i got a new cable, but it still does it.
can you think of anything else i can do to resolve this issue?
it could also be that i have a firewall installed on my computer (avg), could this be an issue?  for a while, the hp product assistant was constantly trying to update itself (like 10 times a day), and i used to decline it, but i eventually allowed it and that is around the time the problem began.
also, there is an 'hp digital imaging monitor' icon on the desktop, and when i click on it, it says 'hp solution center' with a large '$friendlyname$' up top, and none of the icons are responsive.  what is that all about?
is my printer corrupted in some way?  my computer?  any ideas?
thanks in advance.

Try running the Print diagnostic tool and see if it helps:

  • HP Officejet Pro K8600 - Black Ink issue

    Hi everyone,
I have HP Officejet Pro K8600, the printer was fine but after I printed on 4x6 HP Premium Glossy Photo Paper now when I print normal text document the Black Color is not too black it is sort of faded black (very dark grey). I chose different presets e.g. Default Settings, Plain Paper Best, Plain Paper Fast Draft, Plain Paper Fast Draft Black and White and set paper type as Plain Paper but the results are all same. But again when I print a full color photo on 4x6 HP Premium Glossy Photo Paper with preset Photo Paper and HP Premium Photo Paper the printout comes fine and the black color is deep and normal.
I will be waiting for your prompt solutions.
    Regards,
    Mak

    I will add the following:
I changed the Black cartridge but still with the same issue. I am trying to change the printhead with following the steps given in this page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01289505 but the carriage does not move to the left.
    Any clue?

  • OfficeJet Pro K8600 looses communication -will not print

This is our main printer in the design area at work and I really need this to work!!  Any help appreciated.
Vista SP2 Dell Pavilion Intel Quad 2.33ghz 64bit OS 8gb RAM OfficeJet Pro K8600 on USB cable to main ports
I loose the connection and have to reboot the computer to get it to print again.
It prints fine for several hours or a day or so, then suddenly will freeze part way through printing, or simply will not print at all. In Printer preferences I click on services - Ink levels tab - "computer unable to establish 2 way communication"
Removing the USB and reattaching does not help, nor does changing the USB port used.
Disconnected unit, rebooted, deleted printer icon, uninstalled printer drivers, rebooted, did full install using the HP CD and I still have the same problem after printing for awhile.
HP Diagnostic utility does not detect any problems when printer is not working or when it is working.

Did you install the two HP updates slp_dd_hati_110_107.exe and ConvergedIO_HPCOM_V3.exe?

  • Officejet Pro K8600 installing on 64 bit and 32 bit drivers on a 64 bit server

I'm trying to install an Officejet Pro K8600 on a 64bit, 2008 server. I can install the 64bit driver ok but when I try to add the 32bit driver and point it to the driver location it ask me for the 'ntprint' file, which isn't there.
As I have a load of 32bit client computers using 3 of these printers, I don't want to manually install the 32bit driver on each client.

Hi Stephen00101010 , sorry to hear that you are unable to get the printer installed. I do apologize for the inconvenience, however the operating system that you are using is not supported with the use of this printer.
    Thank you.

  • Using windows 7, how do I get my Officejet Pro K8600 to print to 13x19 paper?

I purchased a laptop with Windows 7. Now I cannot get my Officejet Pro K8600 to print correctly to 13x19 paper. It prints onto 13x19 paper but everything is 8.5 x 11 in size. I click print, click properties, change the paper to Super B 13x19, hit ok, the box shows the 13x19 paper with the images filling the paper, I click ok for it to print and it prints the image 8.5 x 11 in size on the 13x19 paper instead of filling the 13x19 paper. I did not have this trouble (and still don't) with my old laptop with XP. Is it the operating system or is it a wrong setting in properties? I have tried to compare the properties settings in both computers, but I cannot find any differences. I don't think it's the driver....please help!

    Hello HW,
Try this: go to Devices and Printers and right-click on the Officejet Pro K8600 and click on Printer Properties. Go to the tab called Advanced and click on the button called Print Processor. Select Winprint and click OK. Try another printout and see if it works now. If you still see the same issue see if there's a scaling option on the print dialogue in the application you're printing from.

  • HP Officejet Pro K8600: change static IP address using printer control buttons

Our network was changed this morning and I am working with a different addressing scheme.  I need to change the static address for our HP Officejet Pro K8600 which has no control panel on the printer.  I had to do this once before and found instructions which (believe it or not) included something like pressing the paper feed button 23 times.  It worked but now I can't find the instructions!!!! It's not something I can recreate because it was very specific.  Does anyone have these instructions? I need them desperately.
    Thanks.

Still not what I needed but I did finally find what I was looking for.  Clearly not found in any manual.  Here it is for anyone else that is looking for the same info.
    ‎From a post on 11-25-2008 03:46 PM from KFMiles:
I really hope this helps you. Believe it or not there really is a reset for this printer.
I had put in a manual IP address and forgot one piece of data. Then I couldn't print to it or access it. Basically I was out of luck. I scoured the internet, I read the manual, I used the HP online help. No luck. Finally I broke down and called HP directly. Took us about 10 minutes of dialog and redoing everything I did before (patience here on my part). The tech disappeared for awhile and came back with a new step from the printer guru god for K8600. Seems if you enter the code number 230, the printer defaults are reset to the factory values.
Ahhh, you say what? There are only 3 buttons to press and no keypad. The X and the page button mean something besides print configuration (hold X) or print page demo (hold Page). Seems if you press and HOLD the power button, the X changes to a unit code factor of 10, and the page button changes to a code factor of one. DO NOT do this code with the network cable plugged in I am told by HP .. so read on...To enter 230, press and hold the power button (light goes off but unit stays on), then press the X button 23 times, Let them both loose. Wait about 20 seconds, and print yourself out a configuration page (by holding X until printer starts working to print). You should see that your net numbers are blank. This will be normal with the network cable unplugged. Plug the network cable back in and wait about 30 seconds, by this time the router will have assigned a new IP. Print out your configuration again. Whatever you got is your new number until you reassign it by using the webserver. This new IP address is your ticket to this server.
This makes you wonder what other codes are there that we don't know about.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 & Officejet Pro K8600 Printer - WHICH DRIVER ?!

What driver do I use for Windows Server 2008 R2 and HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer?
I'm trying to find the correct driver for Server 2008 R2 for an HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer. This is a large format (tabloid or 11 x 17) inkjet printer. Either I haven't found the correct driver, or I haven't properly discovered the correct combination of settings to use to fix the problem I'm having. The problem is that every time I try to print a document that is 11 x 17, it ends up being printed as if the paper size is 8.5 x 11.
I've seen many people have similar problems where everything worked fine when they were using XP, but when they "upgraded" to Windows 7, they can't print 11 x 17 any more.

  • Server 2012 officejet pro 8625 issues

I have two OfficeJet Pro 8625 computers which were both being shared on a Windows Server 2012 system.  One of the print queues is now not working at all and the other print queue can be printed to from a desktop machine but will not work if I try to print a test print or anything else from the server itself.
I would prefer to use type 3 print drivers if possible, although almost all the desktops are running Windows 8.1.
The printer that I can't print to at all through the server I did manage to get working on a desktop machine printing straight to the printer over the network rather than through the server.
We also have two OfficeJet Pro 8600 (plus?)  printers at the site.
The server is using the 8625 driver from basic printer driver package 64 bit (downoaded from server 2008 r2 link).
The driver at the server 2012 link either incorrectly pointed to the 32 bit version or I somehow clicked on the wrong link.
I have tried using the 8625 drivers, 8600 series class drivers, 8600 drivers,  HP PCL3 A-
size printer class driver, but have no luck in printing to the printer through the server.
    Any help or suggestions?
    Thanks

Thank you for letting me know. Let's try some more steps:
I would recommend uninstalling the software on your computer by following this HP document here. Once this is complete, clean out your Temp folder on your computer by follow this document here.
Now, perform a clean boot on your computer by following this Microsoft document here. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program. Next, you can install the full feature software from the HP Website here.
Please re-run the fax setup wizard from the HP software (Printer Assistant). Let me know how your progress goes!

  • Officejet Pro K8600 Manual Feed - User Guide Instructions

After much difficulty trying to use the K8600 rear manual feed slot, I stumbled into the instructions for loading paper in the user guide. I think the "Print with the rear manual feed slot" instructions should be modified to make it clear that paper loading is much more complex than one might expect.  This is the first time I encountered a printer where just placing the paper in the feed slot and then telling the software to print does not work.  The "Load media" reference must be read to be successful.  The correct procedure is:
    1.  Set the printer preferences to "manual feed"
    2.  Wait for the resume light to blink.
    3.  Place the paper in the rear slot.
    4.  Press the resume button (far right button).
    5.  Wait for the printer to detect the paper.
    6.  Press the resume button again to print.
The manual feed documentation and hardware fails the "user friendly" test.  The printer preferences dialog could (should?) display some instructions when the manual feed paper source is selected.
    Comments or criticism is welcome.

Thanks for this. I found the same.  I also found that you have to give the paper/card a slight push to get the printer to recognise and feed it at step 3.  Maybe the rear feed is faulty or needs a clean.
It took ages to get it to work and I must say that whilst this printer is great when it works, getting it to work reliably is another matter.  I have it attached as a network device and it often just stops working.  I believe HP release updates for this from time to time so it must be a recognised problem.
I have also just replaced a print head (black/yellow) and the new replacement was faulty, so I don't seem to have much luck.  I had a CP1700 before this one and that was also unreliable.  I had had hoped that the 8600 would be reliable, but this puts me off buying another HP unit for the office.
Perhaps someone from HP will kindly reply and advise if there are any suitable maitneance steps or checks that I can make.  That would help to restore confidence.

  • Officejet Pro k8600 poor quality printing on "prenium plus photo paper"

Using paper "premium plus photo paper" Q5496A (a3 size) and C6832 (A4 size) the quality of photo printing is excellent.
This last time I bought paper "premium plus photo paper" CR675A (A3 size) 5 stars type and quality of the prints is very bad. The full range of blacks and grays disappears and turns into a single shade of very dark gray. Paper like "advenced photo paper" Q8697A (A3 size) 4 stars has same problem.
A3 paper Q5496A is difficult to find, may be it is no longer in production? What kind of A3 paper can I use instead of Q5496A?

The problem is that - with the same hardware, same software and same image file - when printing on Q5496A, the print quality is great while printing on CR675A, the print quality is really bad.
I have already done all tests and solutions suggestes at your link , and nothing changed.
Cartridges, heads and paper are all original HP and the paper is Premium Plus 5 stars.
So the issue really seems to be the paper to me or the ink that doesn't work well with this kind of paper...
    Thanks a lot.

OK, there are a couple of things to do:
    1. Reset the printer: Setup > Network > Reset Network Defaults.
    2. Disable IPv6:
      - Connect directly from your PC to the printer with Ethernet.
      - Find the printer's IP address on its front panel or self-test.  Enter the IP in a browser
      - Navigate to Network tab > Advanced and disable IPv6.
      - Click Apply.
Now go through your normal way of setting up the printer.

  • HP officejet PRO D8600 K - yellow issues

I have bought two yellow cards but it seems the somthing push them off the casing
I put a piece of foam rubber nad they work but how this?

    Hi carlocki,
It is possible that the yellow cartridge is just not making contact properly, which could happen over time.
In the meantime, I would suggest watching this video. Replacing Cartridges and the Printhead - HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer. Definitely check to make sure there is no dried ink in the ink dock, that could be blocking the cartridge from being fully detected.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

    Hello.
I have the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus running on Windows 7. The printer is connected to computer by network and it is linked to the computer.
All was well with the printer untill I removed Norton and installed McAfee two days ago. Now it will not work, even with McAfee turned off.
I tried to uninstall and re install the printers programmes and driver, but it will not re install the programme or driver.
I have uninstalled all HP prog's.
Stopped all start up prog's except the Microsoft ones.
    Turned off McAfee
Gone to HP and re installed the software and drivers.
These downloaded fine (took a few minutes and 123.00 MB copied) and installed.
Accepted HP licence terms and ran printer installation programme.
    Got instalation complete message.
But it is not installing!  Where is it downloading the programme and driver to?
Downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This finds printer and says programmes not installed. it then downloads them, but it never works. Even with McAfee firewall and scanning all turned off. If I then run it again, I get the same mesasage the programmes not installed, though it just seemed to do it....
If I go to devices / printers there is no Officejet Pro icon like there was. If I try install new printer there, I does not find the correct drivers for this HP model.
If I go to Start, all Programmes, HP and click on these icons I get message "Shortcut moved or changed"
I am at whits end with this now. Absolutly hate the McAfee.
    Please help.  Nick
    PS.
I have got the printer partly working by using the windows available driver HP Officejet Pro K8600 Series, but this is not the correct driver. It will not scan and has very limited printing functionality.
Windows also shows a FAX - HP Officejet Pro 8600 driver, but this did not work when I tried it. Is this the proper driver for this printer??
When I try to get windows to download new drivers it goes looking but says it is unavailable and to try again later.  :-(

    Hey there @Nick-S!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I can see that you are experiencing some software issues with the Officejet Pro 8600 after re-installing McAfee.  I would be happy to provide some suggestions that may help resolve the issue!
I suggest restoring the network defaults in the printer, power cycling the router and reconfiguring the printer on the wireless network.   To restore the network defaults press the Wi-Fi icon on the printer and go into settings.  Under settings should be an option to restore the network defaults.  Once the network defaults in the printer have been restored power cycle the printer and power cycle the router for 20 seconds.  When the printer turns back on press the Wi-Fi icon again, go back into settings and run the wireless setup wizard.
I understand you have re-installed the software but the printer is still not recognised.  I recommend uninstalling the HP software one more time.  After the uninstall is complete it would be a good idea to perform a disk cleanup in the computer. A disk cleanup will improve computer performance and clear temporary files that may cause issues during the install of software. Once the disk cleanup is complete you should restart the computer and re-install the HP software.
To uninstall HP software click here: Uninstalling HP Software
To perform a disk cleanup click here: Performing a Disk Cleanup
To download the HP software click here: HP Officejet 8600 Plus Software and Driver

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 7600 will not complete Scan Feed/ Cannot Install Scan Software for Prompt

    HP OfficeJet Pro 2 issues

    Hello AnnaY,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having a few issues when it comes to scanning and paper feed issue from the ADF.
I do have some troubleshooting steps that we can try in the attempt to resolve this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I also suggest that we do a complete uninstall and then a reinstall just in case an update was done that changed either the software for the printer or a Windows settings.
Please remove the usb cable from the printer and the computer and leave it disconnected until further notice.
The next step is to click on the following link and follow the instructions for Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once the uninstall is complete, please restart the computer.  When the computer is back up and running, please make sure that any firewalls or anti virus protection is temporarily disabled.
The next step would be to install the HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver.  Save the download to your Desktop to that it creates it's own icon.  This will make it easy to find.  Follow the instructions and please do not connect the usb cable until prompted to do so.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus printing issues

I have been having two new issues suddenly (within the past 2 weeks) with my HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus. I am trying to print from my iMac 27 inch running OS.X 10.8.4 Both the mac and the printer are connected to a wireless network via an Xfinity Wireless Gateway. I have just replaced the ink cartridges in the printer but am unable to print black & white. In fact everything is comming out kinda pink. I have posted on HP's support site and was told to
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Having done that initially my problem was solved. But now I'm having the problem again. I went through the above steps again, but still not able to print. Are there any suggestions for a fix. Is anyone else seen this issue? Is there a particular printer manufacturer that works well with Apple. Because at this point I have a large paperweight that is of no use to me!

The fact that it was solved and then came back points to some (unknown) issue with your Mac's software.
Try these generic fixes first (and then do the reset printing system and re-add again):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417
