HP OfficejetPro 8600

I have installed Windows 8.1 and now I cant seem to scan multiple pages as pdfs. and can only choose from jpegs. which saves pages as separate files or png - whats the solution

Hi @Kerry2 ,
I understand that you are not able to scan PDF format and the JPEGS save as a separate file. I can help you.
To resolve the issue for saving multiple page scans, click the Windows icon, click All Programs, click the HP folder, click the name of your printer, and then click HP Scan. Click on Advanced Settings, uncheck Create a new file for each scanned page on the File tab.
Since you did a update to Windows 8.1, I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software if you haven't already.
Uninstalling the Printer Software.

  • HP Laptop won't talk to HP OfficejetPro 8600 on network

    Screwey probblem:
The printer is 'conneectd' to the cable modem.  (The printer tells me this.)
The HP  laptop is 'connected to the cable modem.  (Or I wouldn't be able to connect to the internet.)
They will not talk to each other wirelessley but will talk to each other via a USB cable.
I have a Virizon MiFi and using that router it works on wireless just fine.
The day before, it worked with another router from a different provider.
Has anyone experienced this problem and have a cure for it?  Yes, I realize that it must
be the modem, but with the vast experience pool here I am hoping that someone can
guide me to the right 'switch'.  The tech at Suddenlink doesn't have a clue.
Thanks for past help and hopefully this little problem, too.

  • HP 8600

My HP OfficejetPro 8600 won't scan to my Dell desktop computer - but it has in the past.  Says the computer is not found.  The HP will print from the computer, so I know they can "talk" to each other.

    Hello Albini2013,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with lines on the copies or when you attempt to fax.
I have seen this issue before and I was able to resolve the issue by doing a few simple steps.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Please take a lint free cloth and a light glass cleaner.  Lift the lid to the scanner and you will see a large glass surface that you lay document on.  To the left you will see a small strip of glass.  This glass is used when feeding pages through the document feeder.  Please clean this small strip of glass with the lint free cloth and the glass cleaner.
On the under side of the lid directly above the thin strip of glass, you will see a white plastic strip.  Please clean this strip as well.
Try another scan with the Document feeder and let me know how you made out.
    Thanks for your time.
    Cheers,

  • New Maverick upgrade stops printers from printing

I gave up trying to get my LexMark X4690 after installing  the latest Maverick update and bought a HP Officejetpro 8600.  Same issue, it requires apple software  which I just cannot locate.  Any ideas would help.

So, a question: if a person has, in the modem on site, forwarded a non-standard public-facing port number to the printer's IP address as you are suggesting, and that person is now is off site, how does he specify the alternate port number in the off-site client's print&fax preferences when adding that printer? By merely appending a colon followed by alternate port number to the public hostname/IP?
I've often wondered how one could add a printer configuration in print&fax in a roamer computer, with alternate port number directed to "localhost" or remote 192.168.x.x printer IP such that it could be tunneled through ssh...

I see that your HP Officejet 8600 premium is giving you a paper jam when you scan. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
Just so we are on the same page, is the paper jamming in the front tray of printer? Or the ADF Feeder on top of the printer?

  • HP Officejet 6700 installed desktop program displays xml text files when run

Afer installing the printer software and drivers on 64 bit Windows 7 Pro, the desktop shortcut and start menu entry "HP Officejet 6700" returns xml code text files .  When the icon is first clicked a window asks me to choose which installed printer, then displays two xml files.  The first file is titled "HPSPProgress" the second "HPSolutionPortal" using windows notepad.
The shortcut points to the following:
    "C:\Program Files\HP\HP Officejet 6700\Bin\HP Officejet 6700.exe" -Start UDCDevicePage
The printer drivers and web based access run fine, and the desktop installed HP Scan program runs fine too. All printer functions work correctly. But this one desktop installed program will not run.
I have uninstalled, rebooted  and re-installed multiple times as administrator and with various compatibility settings with no success.  I have tried to install from CD as well as over the internet with the same result.

  • How do I add multiple family members to eprint capability on my 8600 pro?

I dont know how to add my wife and son to the eprint capability on my 8600 pro, i tried adding them as seperate users under hp connected but it wont let you use the claim code more than once.  Anyone have any ideas?  I'm sure someone has done this before, any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance

    Hi AV55,
I think you misunderstood banhien's earlier post.  Your wife would need to log into her ePrintCenter/HP Connected account and then add each family member as an authorized sender following the steps banhien posted.

  • My HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 won't connect to my wireless router

This is bizarre.  I have had my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 for about 6 months.  It has generally worked fine, and we have used it wirelessly only.  But now it refuses to connect to the router.  It can FIND the router, and it can find other networks in the area, but it won't connect to the router.  I ran the Wireless Network Test, and the results say:
Wireless On - Pass // Wireless Working - Pass //
Network Name (SSID) found - Pass //  Wireless Networks Detected - 9
Printer Settings Consistent with Wireless Router Settings - Pass / No Filtering - FAIL //
So it recommends solution as follows: "1 If MAC Address filtering is enabled, and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the Mac address of your printer to the list of permitted devices for your router before continuing."
Except, guess what, I don't have MAC Address filtering enabled.  I wouldn't know how to do that, much less check for it.
Also, before today, this was never a problem.  HELP!
    Thanks....
If you are interested, here's more detail and background.
Before today, the only problem we have had is that frequently our Apple laptop (OS X 10.6) has trouble connecting to the printer.  This has been odd because the printer is connected to the network, and so is the laptop, but the laptop can't find the printer - it thinks the printer is "offline" (even though it's not).  Usually, if I wait a while, it will find the printer, and it will resolve itself work fine.  If not, we sometimes have found that it can fix itself if you restart the laptop -- restarting the printer does not make a difference.   In fact, I did exactly that today, and it resolved itself.  And I printed.  Fine, right?
But then I wanted to do more printing, and the problem of the laptop not finding the printer came up again, so I decided to really "get to the bottom of this."  I don't remember exactly what I did, but somehow I was persuaded by the online help, that the correct solution would be to go into my System Preferences / Print and Fax, and click on the "-", which de-installs the printer, with the idea of re-installing the printer.  But then when I tried to re-install the printer, it could not find the printer.  Ugh!  Wierdly, it found an 8600 Scanner, but not an 8600 printers.  After installing and de-installing the 8600 scanner a few times, I eventually deinstalled everything, and I decided to start from scratch.  I got my HP disk, and installed all the software again from the beginning (even though it was already there), and then it looked for my printer, but couldn't find it.  So then I got a USB cord, and plugged that in.
So, now I have a situation where I do have a working printer via the USB cord, but no wireless connection at all.  In particular, since the Office Jet Pro 8600 won't connect to the router, I don't know what else to do.  My Apple MacBook pro is 2 feet away from the printer, and it is connected to the router just fine (as is my blackberry), and I have never before had a problem connecting to the wireless router by the printer.
    Any suggestions?

There are two things that can trip the mac filtering test to fail:  actual MAC address filtering setup (sounds like this is not the case) and using wireless channel 6 or automatic for wireless channel in the wireless network settings (in the router).  Since it does show failed for MAC filtering and you do not use this option, try changing the wireless channel in the router to 1 or 11.  Those two channels provide the best compatibility with printers due to less interference.  Almost everything defaults to auto or 6 for the channel and this causes a lot of interference.  This change should not affect anything at all.  To do this, you may need to contact the router manufacturer as the process differs from router to router.
What brand and model is the router?
Has anything in the network settings changed at all?
What version is the Mac OS X?  There may be additional steps to take as it sounds like there are two separate issues involved and this could be revisited later.

  • EPrint Apps, printing Preferences on an HP Officejet Pro 8600 wireless prntr

I have a fabulous HP Officejet 8600 series wireless printer that is connected to my home network.  It works beautifully and efficiently!  So far, I've had no issues or problems with it, except for one little tweak that I would prefer to adjust if it is at all possible.  Can I set the print preferences so that when my Apps are printed (either as a scheduled app, or printed directly from the screen on the printer itself) so that they will print on BOTH SIDES OF THE PAPER???  And/or in DRAFT setting, with print on both sides, and with multiple pages per sheet??  I like to use these settings as often as possible to save on paper and ink and the like.   I usually only use the optimal print preferences when its time to produce an essay for school or a flyer or something like that.  If anyone can assist me, I would really appreciate it!!  And... I hope that my question makes sense ;D!!!  Thank you!! Jenni

  • Unable To Communicate With Printer HP Officejet Pro 8600 (Network)

I recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600. One morning a couple weeks ago I tried to print something and I received a prompt saying "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)". I turned off the printer and turned it back on which did not help, I then turned off my wireless network, turned it back on and still nothing. I finally figured out that I first have to turn off the printer, then turn off my wireless router wait thirty seconds, turn the router back on and the turn the printer back on. After these steps my printer was working. The next morning the same thing happened "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)" and I've been replaying Groundhog's Day ever since.
    Please help!

    Hello msheehy-
I would like to help you with this issue. It sounds like the router is changing the ip address of the printer. This could be caused by a couple reasons. (ip lease time, power loss to the router) I would recommend looking at the following link. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03781399&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4323648&tmp...
I think if you would set a static ip address in the printer EWS you would better off. I hope this helps.

  • Unable to find network printer HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

    HP Officejet Pro 8600
    Windows 7 64bit
    updated router firmware
Troubleshoot all item s listed by HP and with Windows
I have been unable to print wireless from my laptop. Wireless network test results gives me a pass in all categories. Network name is the same on printer and laptop. IP address on printer and tcp  port are the same. Tried firewall on and off. AVG antivirus on and off. Unplugged printer, router, usb, restarted laptop. Nothing has solved the problem.
I can see that the printer has an ip address. My router has an ip address and my laptop has an ip address. Should they all be different? I am using the ip address from the printer to set up the wireless printing when asked to enter the address.
This has been the most frustrating process I have ever delt with. It should not be this difficult to set up. Please help.
Thank you in advance for a quick solution.

Shurlee, I want you to do is re-run the wireless setup wizard on your printer. Then uninstall it, and reinstall it again using the software I am going to link you to below. From what you describe it sounds like either an installation issue or an issue with your network. If this helps feel free to mark my post by hitting the star below my name which gives me a kudos - kinda like a job well done on here.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Download these files and install them. By the way these are for the N911a, but if you have the 8600 Plus or Premium you will need different drivers.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4323659

The print cartrdiges should be widely available.  Did you buy from an authorized dealer?  What cartridge numbers are you looking for?  The Officejet 8600 uses 950/951 cartridges which are widely available.
Did your unit not come with setup cartridges?
The setup cartrdiges are required for initial setup of the printer and would be included in the package.  If the cartrdiges were not included then you are not receiving a new printer and/or are dealing with an unscrupulous dealer.  You will need to contact your dealer or HP for the proper cartrdiges.  Given the experience with your dealer I would recommend returning the unit for a refund and then buying from an authorized dealer.
What country did you buy the printer in?  You can call HP support at the number listed in this document.
