  • OfficeJet 8500A. Single print job prints half on two pages.

I have an OfficeJet 8500A Premium for about a year now. All was working well, until recently.
    I'm using Firmware Version: LRP1FN1126AR
Now, when I send a print job that's supposed to be on a single page, it prints half on two pages. This, of course, wastes my ink, paper, time, energy, and sanity. I've searched around and can't find a resolution to this problem.
I posted a picture of the problem I'm experiencing, personal info areas blurred out. The only way to fix this, which is a temporary fix, is to turn the printer on and off. That seems to correct the problem, but only for a short while, since it will eventually start printing single print jobs split on two pages.
    Please help. Thanks.

It sounds like the driver for the printer and the driver for the IE9 are having a conflict. I would advise trying to open the same page in a different web browser to see if the problem follows multiple browsers, or only IE9.
Also, I would try reverting back to IE8 as a possible workaround. If none of these are able to get the printouts desired, then I would look at Shane_R's thread on using an alternate driver located here.
    Hope this helps.

  • Error 388 on my Officejet 8500a Plus printer

My paper feeder will only work intermittently on my officejet 8500a plus.  It prints an error message 388*  This error occurs when I'm trying to fax.  What can I do to resolve this problem.

This error refers to error in connection line: Refer to below for more explanation.
    Error Code: 386, 387, 388, 389, 390, 391, 392, 393, 394, 395
    Definition
There is too much noise on the line for a valid connection between two fax machines to complete. The noise problem might go away over time.
    Solution
Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.

  • Where can I find my proxy address and the printer code on the HP officejet 8500A Plus

where can I find my proxy address and the printer code on the HP officejet 8500A Plus

    Hi TanaS,
I understand that you're trying to setup ePrint.  Most users when setting up ePrint do not require entering a proxy address.
Are you having trouble setting up ePrint?
Are you getting an error message when you try to setup ePrint?

    Here are a few tips:
    1. Make sure 802.11g is present.  Other wireless modes (like 802.11n) are OK, but g must be present.
    2. Broadcast your SSID and do not use MAC filtering.
    3. Make sure your router has the latest firmware.

  • HP Officejet 8500A - HP Full drivers or built in OS X - HELP

    Hello:
I was hoping to install my new HP OfficeJet 8500A plus this afternoon. I downloaded the driver but also noticed a few documents on the HP website telling me the printer drivers are built in.
    Questions for the experts:
    1) Generally, what are you OS X 10.6 fold doing? Adding drivers from the manufacturers site or accepting whats in OS X?
    2) HP drivers are large and historically, HP apps have been buggy (My only experience is with Windows). Would I be better served to just go with the trusted OS X drivers that are built in.
    3) Looks like I'll looks some functionality like the HP Scan app if I just use the built in drivers. Seems like that is a front end app that I can command to grab a scanned document. It has options like OCR, JPeg, PDF. It can email which I don't care about. I am interested in having the OCR capability to scan and create an editable document. So, would I have built in OCR capabilities with just using the OS X drivers?
    4) For those of you with 8500A's, what did you choose and why. Will I miss important functionality by not using the HP downloaded full driver package?
Another minor factor is that I am running on an SSD drive and I am trying to reduce unnecessary file clutter and size.
    Thanks for your help,
    Kevin

I installed one of these printers yesterday for a friend.
The mac instantly saw the print on the bonjour network and installed the drivers. I then installed the drivers from the CD/DVD to add the other functions. All seems to be running well, scanning / printer etc.
I understand about the SSD, and space.
I do not know weather the built in drivers cover the scanning / OCR portion of the printer, I believe you might require some of the other software for that.
I might suggest installing the built in driver, and seeing what you get, if anything is missing, try installing parts of the HP CD, the functions you just need (custom install, I think you can do that).

Officejet 8500A Plus prints purple and brown instead of red and orange on diagnostic page after cleaning printheads all three times.  I have repalced the cartridges and checked the lind feed.  I have used HP cartridges not refills.

  • Windows 8 scanning on officejet 8500a Plus

After upgrading from Windows 7 to 8, I am unable to scan using my OfficeJet 8500a Plus.  Downloaded the latest trouble shooter, and Printer seems to be installed and is default.  I am able to print, but when I go to the print center and select the scanning option, I get an error message that the printer is not installed.  Same things happens if I try to intiate a sccan from Acrobat pro 9.  When I I select the printer from the drop down (only one there) I get an error that there is a network error.  Followed trouble shooting steps on site, checked firewall settings (default windows firewall at this point) to no avail.  Tried removing and reinstalling the printer, as well as re-intiating the wireless connection from the printer,  No go.
Am able to print without a problem wirelessly, it's just the scanning that is a problem.

This sounds quite promissing.  Will test as soon as I get back into town.  If this works, we really need to put this out on the net, as apparently I am not alone in experiencing this type fo problem.  I have seen all kind of different replies, but this seems to be the most logical.
I must say that it is somewhat frustrating that the new diagnostic tool that is supposed to identify and fix the problem, did not do this automatically, as programatically it does not seem like a major task to identify an outdated installation, uninstall it, and install a more updated version.
Thanks for your reply, and I will report back on the results.
best regards, and thanks for the quick reply!

  • How to upload photos from memory card to computer on new Officejet 8500A Plus?

I recently replaced an older HP psc 2410 photosmart printer with a new Officejet Pro 8500A Plus printer.  The installation went fine without error messages, and it prints, scans and copies just fine.  When I insert a memory card into the slot, the printer itself recognizes the files and displays them on the LCD screen and offers to print them.  BUT ... what I want to do is upload the files to my PC (running Windows XP), and I can't figure out how to do it!  There is no HP program that pops up and offers to transfer the photos like with my old printer.   I was also expecting to see the card slots shown as a removeable drive like I did with my old printer, but I don't see them.  Also, my Photoshop Elements program doesn't recognize the card slots either.
Then it dawned on me that my computer doesn't "see" the card slots because it's not connected directly to the printer!  I set this up as a wireless printer and I am totally new to this, so pardon if this is a dumb question... but is there no way to transfer files from the card slot to the PC in a wireless setup??  I'm totally confused...

    Hi,
If your printer is connected thru network or wireless network, you have to access it thru the IP address.
Find out the IP address of the printer. You can do this by clicking on the network icon on the front panel of your printer.
Open Windows explorer and type \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the ip address of the printer.
You'll see the memory card slot there.
You can do a "map network drive" to it if you want your printer card slot to be listed there permanently.

  • HP OfficeJet 8500A Premium doesn't print from wireless (operating system is XP with service pack 3)

From all indications, my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Premium is connected to the network. But, when I send an item to print from my iPhone via email or from my computer via email, all I get is a message that says my print job has been received, but my printer is busy printing other stuff--which it isn't.
I have the HP ePrint app on my iPHone, and I can sit near the ocmputer and printer and print a picture from my iPhone using this app. But I cannot print using the printer's email address. and, yes, I've double checked the address.
    Any ideas? thanks

Hi there, when you check the printer job history in your ePrintCenter account what do you see? Is there a record of the failed print jobs? • OfficeJet 8500a Plus wireless; Desktop is running XP sp3 ... printing wrong characters on .pdf docs

HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus on a wireless network; Win XP SP3.  Also have HP Deskjet 882C connected via USB to same computer.
When printing .pdf docs on the 8500, unpredictably, on some lines or sections of the document, the type prints as though it has switched fonts to a foreign language like Greek or Russian ... totally uncomprehensible.  I can attempt to print the same doc again, and I may get additional lines or sections in the wrong font, even though they printed correctly the first time.
I can print the same document on my 882C first time, every time without error.
Attempted to update 8500 drivers and firmware, but control panel on 8500 says no updates available.

Are you sure your using the 8500A drivers and not the 8500- they can and will cause this?  If not please check the print preview of that job and see if it looks okay and let me know.  Also make sure your Adobe is up to date... which version do you have?
