As annoying as it is you'll have to get an OTG cable and connect a keyboard as the other response stated.

  • Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 stuck on toshiba logo after bios change

My Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 is stuck on toshiba logo after bios change.
entered bios fine changes from UEFI to CSM boot and now i cannot enter bios or boot past toshiba logo.
Ive tried F2 tapping and holding while powering up the laptop(tried every Fkey,DEL,ESC, with and without FN key)
    cannot re-enter bios.
Also i tried to run the bios update cd created multiple  1.50 1.40 even 1.00, it doesnt seem to read any media.
i tried holding C, FN+C and f and just about every key on the keyboard to get something to work. i had dvd as top of boot priority for a while now so i shouldnt have to try f12 or holding C before boot but i tried . it doesnt seem to read any media
i tried windows 8 install cd, Ubuntu, centos, nothing goes past toshiba logo and no errors, i dont get the non bootable device error so its seems to not be reading the dvd. (dvd does spin and make read noises) im trying to find my usb floppy drive to try a floppy version but it acts like its not reading any media.
I also pulled the HDD and all usb devices to make the dvd the only media available and with the HDD out it spins then toshiba logo then black screen with solid white  horizontal curser on top left of screen.(only happens when hdd out)
is there some type of key combination that will force a bios update or a crisis recovery mode for bios.
I also Pulled the battery for 2 solid days(battery, cmos battery, and power supply and held power button for about 10 mins while watching tx to make sure the thing was drained before the 2 day sit with no power at all.
this happened the second i changed from UEFI to CSM boot so its not a motherboard problem or anything like that because all was well before this setting change.
I already pulled the HDD and backed it up to another drive and swapped it to elimiate that.
any ideas on a secret key combo to force a bios read from dvd or usb or anythng.
or another combo that im just missing to enter bios after CSM boot.
    UPDATE
to do a crisis recovery on this laptop
1 get a usb stick and format it in fat or fat32
2 download "7zip" and install it if you dont have it.
3 download bios from toshiba website.
4 run the installer for bios but dont choose and option just close it we just want to extract the files to the location normally  c:\splnvxxx where xxx is the version number like 150
5 goto the installed locaion "c:\splnv150" or whatever number.
    6. find file os2014273a_150 or something similar. it will be an application, it will end in version number _150, and it will also have a disc image file of the same name. but we want the app.
    7. right click on it and you should have an option 7zip then extract
once extracted there is a folder now archesxxxxxx_bios_v150_win
8 copy the bios file located in archesxxxxxblahblah/X64/BIOS.fd , BIOS.fd is the bios and just copy that to a BLANK usb thumb drive that was formatted with fat or fat32.
    9. put usb into your satellite and unplug the power from it.
10 holding FN + ESC key together plug the power back in and press power button.
    11. release keys FN and ESC if all is right it will have the power button and led on from blink abut every 1 second while it searches for the bios. once its done it will reboot and you should be good to go.
if it keeps cycling with the power button then the bios is named wrong or something is not right with the usb. try reformatting it again and make sure that the bios file is the ONLY thing on the drive.

Ok a little research and digging into the bios exe downloaded from toshiba shows this has INSYDE BIOS witch should have a recovery process wich i prepared a usb stick with just the bios.fd on it found some post around toshiba forums with different models using win +B or Fn + F but neither of these worked for me to force bios update
anyone with this model know the key combo to force recovery

  • Can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US

Since this a Windows tablet, can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US?
I know there is a micro-sd reader for additional storage but can you use the usb for external hard drives like a regular pc?
I tried looking at the spec's for this tablet and it said the usb port was host only. I'm not sure what that means exactly.

Yes you can.  You'll need to purchase a USB OTG (on-the-go) cable.  I recommend using a drive that has its own power supply but I've successfully used small USB powered drives also.

  • Saving bios changes...

    Hi all!.
    I got K8T Neo2 Series "MS 6702" REV (E) Motherboard
It’s working just fine! But I noticed something that some of bios changes can't get saved!
Like I am trying to disable inboard LAN controller and SATA Controller Saving changes and reboot my computer,
But my windows still detecting it    so I have no idea what's seems to be the problem,
I have updated the bios 2last ver 9.2 but still doing the same think.
So if u have any idea about this would much appreciate it.

    DOH!   i got it now.
i am using winchecter! but that's really confusing btw  ...
    thanks for reply

  • Neo Platinum won't post after BIOS change...

I changed a few BIOS settings in my machine.  Everything was working fine before; all I switched (to my recollection) was changing the boot order and also switching from Manual to Automatic for High Performance Timings (named something like that).
After doing this, the machine won't even POST; I get a ~2 second long beep shortly after turning the machine on, and this beep repeats with a ~2 second pause between each beep.
    I have tried:
    - taking out the memory in bank 2
    - taking out both DIMMs
    - doing the JBAT1 CMOS reset (pins 1-2 going to 2-3)
    - doing the 'remove the battery' CMOS reset
    - doing both the JBAT1 and battery reset approaches, leaving it in 2-3 and battery out all last night
After all of these, there was no change -- I still get the beeps.
D-Bracket seems to have the bottom left light red, and the rest green, if I recall.
    Any guesses?  Thanks.

Ah, to clarify -- I looked at the Basic Troubleshooting Guide for the exact description of what the D-Bracket is showing. It looks to be "Initializing Keyboard Controller".
Maybe someone else knows -- in the list of all of the D-Bracket codes -- which are meant to be green and which are meant to be red? (As the page has white and black..so I'm trying to confirm that I'm right in mapping correctly between white/black and red/green; if my mapping is backwards, then it really means "Assign Resources to all ISA").
As for possible memory issues -- if I hadn't changed anything in the BIOS other than memory timings -- wouldn't resetting the CMOS have gone back to default timings (which were working a-ok until I made that BIOS change).  (Plus, I don't have any other RAM, so I'm looking for other things to also try

  • Z77A-GD55, no POST after BIOS change

Hello all -- a few days ago I put together my new build using the Z77A-GD55 (I can give full specs if desired, but it's not like it doesn't work) and everything worked great. I installed Windows 8, configured stuff, played games, etc. No performance problems at all. Last night I went into the BIOS to make a minor change to let the network adapter wake the PC from standby. I enabled a power setting I found and when I saved the settings and rebooted the BIOS, the PC wouldn't boot. No BIOS, no POST, no nothing. The fans were whirring and the LEDs were on (and everything stayed in this state until I cut power), but nothing happened on the monitor (the monitor works fine on another PC, by the way). I tried removing my PCI devices (wifi adapter and graphics card) and the hard drives, but nothing different happened. I removed all the RAM and then tried it with just one in, but both of those put it on a loop where everything would lose power within a few seconds and then try again. I cleared CMOS from the button on the input panel to no avail. I've since put the RAM and the hard drives back in (PCI devices still out) and I'm back to my initial no POST situation. I also tried putting a bootable flash drive in, just in case, but got nowhere.
The only thing I haven't removed is the processor, but because it only failed after I made a BIOS change, I'm still inclined to believe that that's not the problem (though I will do it when I have time tonight). Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this? If at all possible I'd like to get this fixed without replacing the motherboard because I won't be able to get a refund (I regrettably submitted the rebate when everything was working, so no returns), but I understand that that may not be possible.
    Thanks!

Remove the battery and short the JBAT1 pins for about 10 seconds with the power cord removed then retest.
If no help, please provide a full list of components.
Shorted the JBAT1 to no avail. Restarted after a few seconds the first time (I assume this is a result of the CMOS having being cleared), but after that it was the same. Still nothing on the screen. My components are as follows:
    Board: MSI Z77A-GD55
BIOS: Not sure, whatever comes standard
VGA: Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7850
    PSU: Antec HCG-620M

  • BIOS changes made by windows 8.1 without my knowledge

I am trying to have dual boot in my desktop so that i can login into Windows 8.1 or Ubuntu Linux. Everything is working fine except something very strange is happening. In my BIOS - boot order is getting changed by Windows. Even if i make it load ubuntu first and then Windows bootloader. Very first time it works...it loads ubuntu....later if i opt to go for windows.....windows simply changes that sequence such that windows boot manager will be loaded first and then ubuntu....while if i opt for ubuntu it works gracefully.
It seems windows doens't want to live peacefully with other OSs.
Windows should not be updating the BIOS settings at the first place.
    Background:
I installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on a partition of an external disk drive connected to my HP desktop.
Secure boot is disabled; fast boot is disabled; legacy boot is disabled. When I boot Ubuntu and restart within Ubuntu, grub-efi lets me choose whether I want Ubuntu or Windows. However, if I go back to Windows and restart, Windows always changes my boot order, placing ubuntu last in the list. I always have to manually modify my UEFI settings and place Ubuntu ahead of Windows if I want to go back to Ubuntu. This seems like too much work. Is there any way to keep Windows from doing this?
Working with HP Support for past 2 days...tried everything...re-installing Linux and Windows also but no help. HP Support is trying to find out an excuse so that they can find some basis not to help me.

    AshuSharmalnia, welcome to the forum.
I am not certain why this is happening.  However, I highly suggest using a second drive for Ubuntu.  I dual booted with Ubuntu for years; never with Win 8.1.  I found that using a second drive for Ubuntu solved all of my problems similar to what you are experiencing.  Also, www.ubuntuforums.org is a must for anyone using Ubuntu.  The members are extremely helpful and know the OS very well.

  • USB Keyboard/Mouse do not function in Bios (Bios Change log too)

I have 1.7 and the system seems fairly stable, a few BSOD's occasionally and it normally seems to occur when the system is idle. I can work on that, but now when I boot my usb keyboard will not function for the EFI/Bios. I have a Old PS2 keyboard working for now but was hoping there is some work around that someone might now. Everything is enabled in the Bios and I even disabled, saved, re- enabled, saved.
Saving (F10) still causes the system to power down, but I can live with that.
Now for the BIOS, can we get a change log to determine what issues are being resolved with these update? I have 1.8b7 downloaded but last update I lost my Raid array so I want to see change logs before a possible rebuild.
Lastly I am used to new hardware having issues especially with OCing, but the EFI/BIOS seems extremely temperamental. First MSI board and my work is on the road a lot so I am hoping to get some of this fixed soon.
    Thanks for any advice

  • BIOS changed / PC won't start anymore!!

    I have bought a MSI 875P NEO-LSR mobo with an Intel 3Ghz.
Everthing was working fine until I encountered problems with Cubase VST software. So I have tried many things to solve the problem of the CPU performance that jumped to 100% when I used only 2 VST intstruments!!
Problem is when I made some changes in the BIOS , the top right menu choice ,
like the voltage of the fan , speed of the front side bus , the option where you can change the overclocking speed , I think , from Private to General. (don't know exactly anymore and can check it out anymore , please read below)
Instead of trying to boost the system , I wanted to slow the system down as I had the feeling the system got "overloaded" sometimes.
So I made the lowest/slowest settings possible in that BIOS-page.
When I turn the power on , nothing happens anymore!!
I can't even get into the Bios to change the settings to normal!
I have waited for over 15 minutes and nothing happens , no boot no nothing.
How can I enter the BIOS again?
Looking forward in receiving your reply.
    Mark

    Thank you so much!
Phew , I tought my mobo was gone 4-ever.
I was surprised getting a startup-screen at first , and 3 seconds later it went blank again. I seems you have to unplug the pc from the power-supply and wait for about 5 to 15 minutes before you can try again.
After that,  pressing the INS-key on start-up and then F12 = Load defaults , will
    do the trick.
    All the best,
    Mark

  • HP OMNI 10 5600eg - Bios update failed

The latest bios update on my HP OMNI10 5600eg failed. Now the screen stays black and I can't get into bios nor I can start windows. The device seems bricked. Is their anything I can do to recover the device? Regards, Michael

Hi @AndreasN  , welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are looking for an instructional to install Windows 8.1 Pro x 32 on your Omni tablet.
If you are saying that you want to install a retail copy of Windows on it, I do not have an instructional for you and I have never done it on an Omni tablet. I cannot guarantee you wouldn't have any problems, but I can give you a few things you will need. Here are the drivers you will need:
HP Omni 10 5600eg Tablet Drivers
If you have Windows 8.1 DVD's you would need a computer to make an installation USB drive to get it on your tablet:
Create installation media for Windows 8.1. There are many other instructionals out there as well, if you need more info.
If I am wrong, and you just mean to do a factory reset, these instructions cover that: Recovering Software on Your HP Tablet (Windows 8)
    I hope this helps.

  • BIOS changing...

I have a new build on a little G31M3-F V2 running Windows 7.  I started the build up under Vista Home Basic and it ran fine for about a week.  Then I upgraded to Windows 7 Premium and now, like many posters all across the internet, I'm getting Kernel Power events and reboots.
My reboot stops at the boot screen because the boot sequence in BIOS is getting changed.  The first device remains the DVD Drive but the second through 5th say [USB :Generic US] and the sixth, [USB :Generic Mi].
The system drive is a new Western Digital Caviar Green SE 16 640 GB drive.  The drive is being detected by BIOS and I can add it back to the BIOS boot sequence and it will come back up.
I think that I would be just another voice in the wilderness if I were to ask what is causing the Kernel Power event under Win7 so I won't.  However, I would like to know what kinds of things would cause just this particular BIOS setting to get changed?

Yes, Windows 7 is supported on the board.
Actually the symptom has changed from my first description.  Now neither of the SATA devices is being detected.  I have, as earlier described, a WD 640 GB Caviar Green drive on my first SATA port and a WD Passport eSATA device on the last SATA port and neither of them are being detected.  Bootup quickly detects the DVD drive on the IDE Master port, then pauses for a while where it would normally be detecting the SATA drives, and then quickly detects the USB drives.
I've got another disk I can try.  I'll do that and then post back.

  • BIOS Changed Boot Order By Itself

I have a Pavilion H8-1360t. When I got it in March I installed a Samsung SSD. I copied the original Hard Drive to the SSD and made the SSD my boot drive. I also swapped the SATA ports becasue the HDD was on the high speed on. For the next 4 months I've been booting every morning and shutting down at night with no problems. The SSD boots quick and again, no problems. The SSD was my C drive and the original HDD was now my F. I only used it for Ghost backups of the C drive. I also Ghost to an external USB3 drive.
This morning when I booted I noticed that all my icons were missing as was all my data and all my programs I had installed. AFter some research I found, in the Computer display of my system, that my SSD was now the F drive and the original HDD was now my C drive. So I was booting using the original HDD that came with the system.
I tried to figure out how to tell the BIOS to boot from the SSD as it had been, but I cannot figure out which drive in the display list is it and besides that I want it to do that by default. I'd also like to know how or why the PC decided to reassign thedrive letters and boot from the HDD now.
HP refuses to help saying that since I have user installed devices they do not have the tools to help. They also cannot tell me how to get the Boot Order changed. But even if I could do that, and I've tried going into BIOS setup and Boot Priority, I cannot get it to boot using the SSD. HP suggested I go to some third party. But there's got to be a solution I can do. My last choice would be to copy the entire SSD to the HDD (the SSD id only 500GB and the HDD is a Terrabyte). I assume then that when it would boot from the HDD the data I copied over to it (using Ghost) would make it look then like the SSD did. My loss would be speed but at least I'd have critical data that I now cannot access.
I am really up the creek right now Any ideas?
    Thanks

I took the PC to Fry's. They think there's a problem with the SSD. Even though I am able to see it and to move data off of it, there is some problem during boot that tells W7 and BIOS that is cannot boot and that is what is causing the system to then look for another boot drive. It then finds the hard drive, which came with the system and is connected, and is bootable, and thus it boots from that drive and also remaps the drive letters, effectively swapping the C and F between the SSD and HDD.
Now I am trying to move all my data to the HDD, install Office and other programs, and just boot to the HDD until I can get the SSD examined for problems and a new one, if necessary, put in.
    PC's are such a joy.

  • K7T266 Pro with Award Bios (Change FSB)

    Hi,
I've got an old motherboard and i would put on it an athlon 1400 processor.
I have installed it correctly on the motherboard but the fsb is equal to 100 mhz.
I would set it to 133 mhz because the processor runs at 1050 mhz... (10,5 * 100)
With the Ami Bios, it's easy to change the fsb but with Award Bios, i don't know how change it ...
I have verified the bios version with MSI Live Update and i have got the latest version ...
How can i do to change the fsb on my motherboard ?
