HP Omni 10 (Win 8.1) - Almost ignored?

Is there any reason that this tablet is almost being completely ignored on the HP website and by retailers and the tech news world? None of the major sites has done a review and the HP website page for the device is incomplete and says "Coming Soon".
There's no accessories listed either.

I found a good number of reviews and articles about the tablet by Googling it -- it doesn't seem like there's anything unusual about the amount of tech news coverage. Also, the Omni 10 is for sale through Microsoft, here. It looks like HP and MS partnered on this product -- I wonder if it might be sold exclusively through MS. Not sure, but from what I can tell that seems likely.

  • How Do You Change the Remote Desktop Listening Port in Win 8.1 Pro

I am trying to setup two Win 8.1 Pro computers for Remote Desktop access on my local network. I can get Remote Desktop working fine on both when they are using the default RD port 3389. I am unable to change the listening port on one of the computers so
that I can access either via a public Internet connection. I change the listening port in the Registry, reboot the computer and verify that the port number has been changed BUT the computer still responds to the old port 3389 and can't connect via the new
port number. I added a Firewall rule for the new port, but that did NOT solve the problem.
I have followed the procedure below and verified in the Registry that the port is changed but the Remote Desktop remains accessible only on the default port 3389. The new port number in the Registry is 39699. I used a network scanner and it shows the computer
is still listening on port 3389 for Remote Desktop connections. Why is Win 8.1 Pro ignoring the new port number in the Registry and still responding on 3389? Is there another place in Win 8.1 Pro that the port also needs to be changed. I also added a new rule
in the Firewall to allow incoming requests on port 39699? This is a very frustrating problem, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I followed the procedure shown below.
    Hi ,
Based on my test, we can change the listening port for Remote Desktop.
To change the port that Remote Desktop listens on, follow these steps.
    1.Start Registry Editor.
2.Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
3.On the Edit menu, click Modify, and then click Decimal.
4.Type the new port number, and then click OK.
    5.Quit Registry Editor.
    6.Restart the computer.
Meanwhile, please note, please type the new integer port number between 1025 and 65535 in the PortNumber text box.
And make sure the new port number is not in use by other application.
We may use the command below to check the result.
    netstat -a
Also, we can use Network Monitor to trace the port.
    Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4
    Regards,

    Hi,
There are two item that should be modified to change the default 3389 port:
One is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Wds\rdpwd\Tds\tcp]. Modify  the PortNamber to the one you want.
The other is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContro1Set\Control\Tenninal Server\WinStations\RDP\Tcp]. Modify the PortNumber to the one you want.
In your case, you missed the first one.

  • [HP Omni 10 5601TW] Tablet won't boot after BIOS update

I tried to use this utility to update my tablet's BIOS.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-132613-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4157&product=6796753&sw_lang= After the update my tablet doesn't boot, or in the words of what this BIOS version fixes, the tablet stops functioning and displays a black screen after the BIOS is updated. How can I restore previous BIOS? Thanks in advance,Arpan

hey, i have run into the exactly same issue with my Omni 10 - Win 8. there was a BIOS update available in the HP Assistant app, i installed it and rebooted. Now no display on boot. On pressing the power button, i just get a usual small vibreation of the tablet switching on, and then nothing happens. the vibreation keeps repeating every 10-15 seconds. there is no display. i have tried with power+vol up and also power+ vol down button combos, but it just keeps vibrating every 10-15 seconds with no display. was a solution found for this?

  • PE 3.0 -- Video playback jitters -- content pulled from VOB files

Thanks in advance for any advice!   I pulled 10 minutes of video from a DVD into Elements 3.0, edited it on the timeline and exported it to a DVD.  The original content is a dub of a finished TV show burned by a production company.... it's the only copy we can get.  My edit excerpts the part of the show that's about a non-profit I help out.
My final output has "jitters" in shots that have motion.  The faster the motion -- like zooms or pans -- the more noticible the jitter.  You can almost ignore it when playing back on a computer, but on a TV it's really obvious.
The only changes I made to the clips after import were:
Interpret Footage => conform to D1/DV NTSC widescreen 16:9 (1.2)
(so that footage matched the original 16:9 format.)
Where do I start troubleshooting?  The initial project setttings?  Or is this an export problem?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Mark
PS: On the original content, it says on screen before the show rolls that the master is "720P 59.94 16:9" -- but I don't know is if that's just the master or also the DVD

Thanks for all the helpful replies. (Sorry I didn't understand the points system; thought I could tag you all as helpful.)    Elements 3.0 doesn't have that DVD or Hard Drive project setting, but it looks like this is where the trouble lies.
Ridiculous thing is, I have Premiere Pro 5.03... but it will not ingest the VOB files.  Each file truncates to 30 seconds, even if the file is already pulled off the DVD and in a folder.   I could not find a solution online to that problem, so I tried Elements which did it easily, except for this jitter.
    AVAILABLE PROJECT PRESET SETTINGS:
In PE 3.0, I can change the default project settings by creating a new default preset.  In the VIDEO section, If I start with DV - NTSC Widescreen (versus Adobe HDV or DV-Pal) I can create a new preset but it apeears my only changable video options are safe areas and display format.  The "Fields" drop down is grayed-out, defaulted to "Lower Field First" and can't be changed.  (Nothing else I change seems to make it available to change.)
    DISPLAY FORMAT dropdown:
        >30 fps drop-frame timecode
        >30 fps NON-drop-frame timecode
        > frames
Are these settings of any use for this problem?
In the GENERAL section, I can open a dialog called PLAYBACK SETTINGS.   Choices there are broken into "Realtime Playback" and "Export."   In Realtime Playback, I can check or uncheck "Desktop Video."   The default is checked, which let's me select an "External Device" or a setting for aspect Ratio Conversion."   External Device Choices are:
         None
         DV 29.97i (720x480)
         DV 25i (720x576)
         DV 23.976p (720x480)
Those same external device choices are available under EXPORT.
Maybe Elements 3.0 just can't solve this problem...  Any thoughts?

  • What is the best way to install windows 8 on MacBookPro Mtn Lion(VM, boot camp...) to maximize hardware & features

Has anyone installed Windows 8 on MacBook Pro? Is it best to use Boot Camp or virtual software in order to maximize the Mac trackpad usage in Windows 8 (for a better "touch screen type" experience)? Will virtual software suck the power out of the MacBook if I need to use it for intense picture image editing and because of this should I stick to boot Camp even if it does not allow me to use the multi uses of the trackpad?

Apple's bootcamp doesn't support Windows 8 at this time only Windows 7
You can run Win 8 (or almost anything really) in a virtual machine, free Virtualbox

  • IC clients and CTI integration

guys, I am new to CRM and need some clarification on the web/Win IC clients and the CTI integration. My questions are as follows:
    1) Do I have to have a java stack of the CRM sytem to use the Web IC client ?
    2) Is it possible to use the Web IC client in a ECC system ? If so, how ?
    3) What really is win client ? How is it different from using CIC0 tcode ? Can Win IC client be used in a ECC system or is it only used in conjuction with a CRM system ?
    4) Is the ICI inferface only for CRM and sapphone is only for ECC ?
    5) If we need to connect a CTI system like cisco PBX to a CRM system for incoming and outbound calling, would we connect it to the ABAP stack or java stack ?
    Please advise. thanks

    Hi,
    2) Is it possible to use the Web IC client in a ECC system ? If so, how ?
No. The new interface WebUI is only for CRM.
    3) What really is win client ? How is it different from using CIC0 tcode ? Can Win IC client be used in a ECC system or is it only used in conjuction with a CRM system ?
CIC0(CRM) and win client is almost the same thing. CIC0 is a CRM transaction used in winclient. Win client is a old version for IC and SAP advice to use only WebUI.
    4) Is the ICI inferface only for CRM and sapphone is only for ECC ?
Both are netweaver components and can be used in ECC and CRM.

  • CCMS Sending too much Email (every few min from the same alert).

    Hi everyone,
We have recently setup CCMS in SOLMAN to monitor all of our ECC6 systems.  Using auto-reactions we have any critical alerts sent to our pagers via email (SMTP).
Setting this up worked fine, however, we are finding ourselves in this mess:
When we trigger an alert, it seems that the alert just keeps producing hundreds of email messages...
Is there a way to have each alert found produce 1 or 3 email messages - then stop?  It may take some time to correct an alert, but, we do not want to be paged every 2-5 min with tons of email (one per first time triggering it would be awesome).
Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.
    Richard

Please see [this thread|Configure GRMG alert to just send one email/auto-reaction;.

P.S. I looked at your other messages and see you have a history of not awarding points to people who answer your questions. I almost ignored this question because of that.

  • GT683: swapping RAID0 HD config for non-RAID/AHCI SSD boot drive

A question re: MSI skus which come with 2x HDs in RAID0 config. My system (GT683DXR-603US sku) came with 2x 500GB HDs (WD5000BEKT) in RAID0 config.
First thing I did was to replace this with a Crucial M4 256GB ssd, though prior to this I took an image of the stock system (prior to even booting it up the first time) and restored said image onto the SSD.
The first time I booted off the SSD (no other HD in the unit, as I pulled both of the WD 500GB out to try the SSD alone), I went into the BIOS and changed the SATA config from RAID to AHCI. But Win boot cycle almost immediately resulted in a blue screen. I then changed SATA config from AHCI to IDE, w/the same boot result. Finally, set the BIOS config back to the original RAID, and Win7 booted fine.
Upon confirming SSD Win7 boot and testing operation successfully, I pulled the SSD, place the 2x 500GB HDs back in the system, just long enough to break the RAID 0 array.
Replaced the SSD in the primary bay, and left one of the 500GB HDs in the 2nd bay, and that's how I'm using the system now: Crucial M4 SSD boot drive, WD Scorpio 500GB data drive ... with the BIOS SATA config set to RAID mode.
So the system is working now, but question is - should I pursue trying to change the BIOS setting from RAID to AHCI mode? I'm thinking that in order to get the SATA 6Gbps performance out of the Crucial M4, the Intel SATA config needs to be set to AHCI ... yet apparently I first need to modify the Win7 config (the SATA driver, perhaps?), before I can modify the BIOS sata config?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

bump ... any thoughts? I'm thinking to leave my sysetm in RAID mode, as from what I've read recently Intel storage mgr supports TRIM in RAID mode as well as AHCI.

  • Error retrieving JDBC connection from remote client (WLS 10.0)

    Hallo,
I get an error when I try to retrieve a JDBC connection from a WLS datasource using a remote client. My Weblogic server version is: WebLogic Server 10.0 MP1 Thu Oct 18 20:17:44 EDT 2007 1005184
I use the following code to retrieve the JDBC connection:
    Hashtable<String,String> ctxEnv = null;
    InitialContext ctx = null;
    DataSource dataSource = null;
    Connection con = null;
    ctxEnv = new Hashtable<String,String>();
    ctxEnv.put(InitialContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    ctxEnv.put(InitialContext.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001");
    ctx = new InitialContext(ctxEnv);
    dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("datasources/XXX");
    con = dataSource.getConnection();
When I execute this code with the weblogic.jar in the classpath everything works fine. However, when I put the wlfullclient.jar in the classpath which I created using the JAR Builder Tool I get the follwoing error:

jar, and that may be true
what I said, but I see you're making your own. Can
you find out what jar you're
loading the InstrumentationSupport class from? That's
    the original location of
the error, and that class doesn't exist in 10.0.Hi Joe, thanks for your reply.
First of all, let me clarify what we did and why we did it: We have a stand-alone client application that needs to communicate with a Weblogic server using the t3 protocol (we don't want IIOP or HTTP tunneling). According to the official BEA documentation (see http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/basics.html and http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/t3.html) we needed to create the wlfullclient.jar file. We did this using the Weblogic JAR Builder Tool (see http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/jarbuilder.html). Unfortunatley we discovered the problem mentioned in my original post when we tried to run the client with that wlfullclient.jar.
Regarding your classloading question: The InstrumentationSupportImpl class is located in the wlfullclient.jar, so it does exist in WLS 10.0 (it is also contained in the weblogic.jar). Unfortunately this JAR does not contain the required class "weblogic.diagnostics.instrumentation.InstrumentationDebug". I searched for this class and found it in the OSGI module "com.bea.core.diagnostics.instrumentor_1.0.1.0.jar" shipped with the Weblogic server. Obviously the JAR Builder Tool did not include the contents of this OSGI bundle into the wlfullclient.jar. I tried to include this OSGI bundle into the classpath of the client app manually (just for testing purposes), but this onyl resultet in another NoClassDefFoundError. This time the class "com.bea.objectweb.asm.Constants" could not be found.
What astonishes me is the fact that the connection retrieval works fine when we only have the weblogic.jar in the client applications classpath, but fails when we have the wlfullclient.jar in the classpaht. It seems that the t3 communication is handled completely different, depending on what JARs I have in the classpath. Also, JMS communication works fine in both cases (i.e. for the weblogic.jar and the wlfullclient.jar). The only thing that causes problems (at least as far as we have discovered) is getting a JDBC connection from a datasource. I simply fail to see why this is the case.
    Best regards,
DirkInteresting. I hope the official support case solves your problem.
I would like to dig further, but it's too far afield for me with
the workload I have at the moment.

  • Security - How to use Denied member access

I am trying to understand how the "denied" setting works in member access profiles.
I have an entity hierarchy with a parent (TotalCompany) and several children (CompanyA, CompanyB, CompanyC, etc.).  I want my user to be able to access all entities except CompanyA.
I set up two member access profiles:  Entity_Totals  has read access to the parent entity (TotalCompany) at the top of my entity hierarchy.
Entity_X_CompanyA  has denied access to CompanyA, a child of TotalCompany.
I assigned both to my user.  But he can still read data for CompanyA as well as all other entities in the hierarchy.
Am I setting this up wrong or do I just not understand how "denied" works?
    I am on version 5.1, SP 8.

    Hi,
The problem is when you've conflict between profiles. The rule is less restrictive profile wins.
    For example:
Profile A    R&W (Read & Write)  Sales Wold
Profile B    Read only                   Sales Europe
Profile A wins B is ignored
So user can R&W Sales world and all underlying nodes like sales europe
    Another example:
Profile A   Access Denied       Sales Europe
Profile B   Read only                 Sales World
Profile B wins (less restrictive) profile A is ignored
User only can read data for node sales world and all underlying subnodes like europe and their leaves
    Another one:
Profile A   Read only        Sales World
    Profile B   R&W                 Sales Europe
Profile B wins Profile A is ignored
That means user only can R&W node Sales Europe and their underlying and leaves.
So you have to analyzed the conflicts between your profiles.
Remember the rule is less restrictive profile wins.
    Hope it helps.

  • Can't query date AND time

    Hi,
has someone an idea why I can't query time in SharePoint 2013?
Let's say I have a document that has been edited today (1/30/2013 3:46 AM) and I have the following query:
    'write>"2013-01-30T00:00:00Z" AND write<"2013-02-01T00:00:00Z"',
I excpect my document to show up in the result list but I can't find it.
By moving the start date one second into the past I am able to get my document.
    'write>"2013-01-29T23:59:59Z" AND write<"2013-02-01T00:00:00Z"'
It looks like SharePoint is completely ignoring the time part in the query and is only checking the date.
The time shown in the result list and the time I get when searching via REST API both match my editing time.
Is there a restriction when querying DateTime values? Am I missing some some config parts or is my syntax wrong?
I would be grateful for any hints.

    Hi,
sorry for the confusion but what I meant in my post was "Query via search".
KQL seems to ignore the time component almost completely. It doesn't have an impact on search results, but providing an invalid timestamp leads to an error - so it is "almost" ignored. ;)
Michael Svenson proposed a workaround that I'd like to share here as it can be helpful in some scenarios:
"Use use the RefinementFilters property instead!"
How to and where can be found in this article in his blog:

    Kind regards

  • T500 with intel gma 4500mhd, increase system video memory

    Hi,
I'm curious if there is a way, to increase my system video memory from the default 96mb, to 128mb or more, sience I still have 1155mb shared system memory. In a few case I would prefer more than 96, but there no increase option in bios nor in the driver settings.
    Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 2 8

I'm testing win7 now, and I've got a good reason to think (or I'm almost sure), that the default 92mb vram (32 dedicated + 64 shared) in't enought however I can't allocate manually more shared memory to the vga.
With the default w7 driver, the OS dosen't get any of the shared memory (so the system is running only with the dedicated 32mb), most likely because of that the display becomes choppy/dizzy like this. If I update the driver with the vista driver the vga gets 96 mb vram and this crahes greatly decreasing. After I switch to the classic win theme, they almost gone, exept if I playing videos with DXVA acceleration or 720/1080p movies.
But I'm about to give this up, I've search the internet for a whole day, but didin't  find any way, to overdirve the driver settings.

  • Cheap (easy install) wireless router?

Ok I need to get hold of an ADSL wireless router to connect my 3 computers.
The main computer that will be connected via Ethernet is a 1.8 G5 iMac that sits on a desk right by the phone point.
The second computer is a Mini G4 1.5 with airport built in thats used on my 42" plasma in the next room.
Thirdly my girlfriends Windose laptop that will require some kind of USB/Wireless card to be used with the new wireless router.
Question 1: Are some wireless routers better than others for using mainly with the 2 macs? If so which models should I look out for?
Question 2: Will the wirelessly connected Mac Mini be able to share files from the main iMac via the router?
Question 3: I am using BT Broadband, does this limit my choice in anyway?
Look forward to your replies, and thanks in advance for any help/suggestions. I am getting bogged down with the ammount of routers available and many of them make no mention of OSX/Macs although I was of the opinion (very possibly wrong) that any ethernet router would work with my macs?

    Welcome to the discussions.
1st The technology is the same worlwide.
Remember that Mac and Apple computers are in the lower 15% of the computers on the market thus almost all ISP's almost ignore the use of MAC's. That being said most say they don't support Mac which is no more then BUNK.
I will say that in the UK some ISP's will try to push USB Modems. I would insist on Ethernet Modem and thus you can use any Ethernet Router. (Wired or Wireless)
Now all major manufactures make good products so it will be your choice as far as a Router is concerned. Here is a link that covers many of the products offered in the UK by the different providers.
    http://www.adslguide.org/reviews/
The most important thing to remember is to use Ethernet, NOT USB
Some are easier to confiqure then others.. Airport Extreme Base and Netgear being the easiest in my opinion.
So the answers to your questions are
    Question 1 Above.
    Question 2 Yes
    Question 3 No
    Cheers Don
