HP P2055 (network) - Can't print from trays automatically

Hi all,
Have a problem with a HP P2055 (networked) printer. We have the addional tray on it, so it has 3 trays in total. It won't print from any tray except the 1st (bypass) tray. Any print job that is sent through to the printer automatically moves to the 1st (bypass tray) and it requires the user to press the "OK" button on the printer to start the job. The job will not start automatically.
This is causing us a massive headache, as a lot of the MS Word letter templates our users want to print have been configured to print the 1st page from tray 2 (filled with headed paper) and the subsequent pages from tray 3. This works on all our other printers but not this one - where are we going wrong?!
Many thanks for any help
Kev

Hi Shellshokd,
Try using the HP Universal Printer Driver which supports a wide set of printers.
The driver is available at this location.
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/solutions/business-solutions/printingsolutions/upd.html
Also, just to let you know ePrint also supports some other formats apart from PDF. You can mail doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, txt, html, jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif and tiff files directly to your printers email ID.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Oliver

  • HP 2100TN - Can't print from Tray 3

I have a Laserjet HP 2100TN. I have it configured with a Tray 3 but it refuses to print to Tray 3. It prints from Tray 2. If I select Tray 1 it works fine (prints from tray 1). This used to work under 10.4.x but has been broken in 10.5.x. I tried reinstalling (Archive and Install) to no avail. I was using the default Laserjet 2100 series driver. I tried Gutenprint version and it worked except I had to select Tray 4 for it to print from Tray 3. Gutenprint, however, only allows me to print up to 600x600 dpi whereas the default Laserjet 2100 series allows me to print 1200x1200 dpi.
I also tried installing the driver from HP and it did not work either.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I did as benshaine posted in his thread here: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/789780 I installed Firefox 3.5.10 to my desktop, printed from 3.5.10 and then went back into 3.6.x and I could print.

I can't print from my iPad2 to my air-print enabled printer (HP Premium e-all-in-one C310).  They're on the same network, but have differed IP addresses!  The iPad IP is 192-168-1.126 and the printer is 192-168.1.133.  That's the only difference I can see.  Is there a way to fix this?

    fyi:
you put periods between the numbers.
Each device needs a unique number.
for the 192.168.1 the right must number should vary.  192.168.1.x
the numbers you have look ok.
Power off all devices: wifi router, printer, ipad.. wait 10 minutes.  poweron router ... wait power on printer wait then power on ipad.
    cross fingers.

You need to turn on Printer Sharing on both the PC and OS X. I can't help you on Vista but in OS X it's System Preferences - Sharing - check the Printer Sharing box.

  • Can't print from a windows pc to network printer

I am having a network printer problem.
I have a Canon printer plugged into the usb port of my Mac-Mini.  I can print fine from the Mac to the printer.  I have network sharing enabled for the printer.
I have a Dell PC connected to an Airport Express via internet cable as part of my network.
I have bonjour installed on the Dell
Bonjour can see the networked canon printer and will install it as the default printer for the Dell PC.
However, I can not print from the Dell unless I have the wrong printer driver (an HP driver) installed.  As long as the wrong driver is installed I can print the first page of a document only.
If I install the correct Canon driver, the printer ceases to function.
I tried connecting the printer to the airport express via usb.  Once I did this, I was able to print from the Dell pc with no problem using the correct driver.  But then, I could no longer print from the Mac-mini via the Airport Express connected printer.  The Mac could see the printer and identify that it was connected via Airport.  And the Mac will allow me to connect to the Airport connected printer .  But as soon as I trie to print something from the Mac, it fails and gives an error message or pauses and says the drivers may not be correct.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

    Detective445 wrote:
I believe that there may not be a solution to this because the printer will only recognize one set of drivers.  Since one set of drivers is for the Mac and one set is for a PC It will only work with one machine or the other.
Then you should be able to print from the Mini after resetting the printer, e.g. by turning it off and back on after a short while. But it sounds as if this won't help either, and to be frank, it's not an "acceptable" explanation, either...
So, what's the error message? Unless known, we can only keep guessing:
You've reset the printer system in the Mini? Eventually consider deleting the Canon drivers manually afterwards, and only then add the printer again and re-install its software.
If that doesn't help either, the issue must be a communication problem, meaning I'd recommend to double-/triple-check all comm-related things as well.

  • In adobe reader, I can't print from different trays?

Using Adobe Reader, I can't print from different trays on my Lexmark x954 printer.  I've tried reinstalling the print driver (latest version) and reinstalling Adobe Reader with no luck.  I can see the trays and even select them in the print dialog box in adobe but when I print I am unable to print from the correct trays.  It always prints from tray 3 of my printer no matter what tray and type of paper I choose in adobe.  Any suggestions?
I've also noticed a problem printing through Preview.  I can select different trays using preview but the print time is extremely slow.  It seems like it has to re-download the pdf page each time it goes to print.  So a 100 page print job takes 20-30 minutes to complete which means other have to wait for my job to complete so it really slows our office down.
Thanks for your help.  Also, I am using the mountain lion operating system.  Thanks again!

Don't know whether it will make any difference, but a new version of Adobe Reader has just been released:
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/73/adobe-reader  (version 11.0.03).

  • How can I print from my MacBook Pro to Canon MP560 using rear tray?  I can't find that "option" in the print selection possibilities.

How can I print from my MacBook Pro to Canon MP560 using rear tray?  I can't find that "option" in the print selection possibilities.

    Sure can.
With a document open in Pages, select to print so that you can see the print dialog as shown below.
Note that to see this view, you may need to press the Show Details button in the bottom left corner. In the image above, since I have the expanded view displayed, this button changes to Hide Details
So with the view shown, first change the Presets menu to Default Settings. Then click the Layout drop menu and select Quality & Media. Make the changes you want and then click on the Presets menu and select Save Current Settings as Preset...
At the next window, give the Preset a name and select the Only this Printer radio button and then click OK to save it. That's it.
As for the Preset that you already have, if you no longer want this preset then you can delete it via the Show Presets menu pane that you've used already.

If your printer is on this list follow the manufacturers instructions.

  • Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area

Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no other computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area and is wanting a printer to use occasionally. He doesn't want to deal with a computer and I keep his iPad updated for him at my home.  Please shed some light on this for us PLEASE. Thanks

In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.
Check here for a list of Printers you can choose from.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached.  Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print.

  • How can I print from ipad to non wireless printer?

How can I print from ipad to non wireless printer.
....been trying to save document to pc to print.... but cant find a way to do so.....?

Actually you can print to a non wireless printer if you have apps on the iPad and your computer that will do this and as long as you can set up a WiFi network or the iPad and the computer are already on the same network.
I Am running an old OSX version on my iMac at work (Tiger OSX 10.4.11) and I have an app on my iPad called Save2 pdf. I downloaded a helper app on the Mac called WePrint. I do not have WiFi at work, but I create a WiFi network using the Ethernet connection to the Mac that my iPad can also join. As long as I can send the file/text/document to the Save2pdf app, I can print it on my old HP LaserWriter1012 which is not a wireless printer. This uses the Mac as the print server and the WePrint app on the Mac sends the doecument to the printer.
It's not a very elegant solution, and it is a little convoluted, but it does work.

  • How Can I Print from my Microsoft Surface Running Windows 8 RT?

How Can I Print from my Microsoft Surface Running Windows 8 RT?
Most new wireless printers won’t have a problem printing from the Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 RT.  All you should have to do for these printers is tell them to print and they will.  Older wireless, Ethernet, and USB printers might not have an officially supported driver in Windows 8 RT, but there is a way to get the printers working.  There are different requirements depending on how the printer is being connected to the Surface.
Note:  All steps below are only for PhotoSmart, OfficeJet, DeskJet, and other HP Inkjet printers.  These steps are not for Laserjet printers or printers from other manufacturers.  These steps may not work for all Inkjet printers.  If these steps don’t work, try different drivers from the list until you find one that will work (you’ll understand what I mean once you follow the steps below).  If none of the drivers work, your printer will not work with the Surface.
For networked printers (wireless or Ethernet), all you need is either the Surface keyboard, or an external USB keyboard to connect to the Surface.  This just makes anything you have to type easier to type.  You will also need to have the Surface and the printer connected to the same network.
Starting from the right edge, swipe your finger left on the Surface screen to bring up the Charms bar.
    Touch Search.
Below the Search Box, touch Settings.
In the search Box, type Devices and Printers.
    Touch Devices and Printers.
    Touch Add a Printer.
Touch “My printer is not listed”.
Select the TCP/IP option and touch Next.
Enter the printer’s IP address and touch Next.  Note:  You can get this from the printer’s Network Configuration Page, or from your router’s DHCP list.
The Surface will locate the printer and try to install it.  The install will fail and the Surface will ask you what you want to do, search the internet for the driver, or manually install the driver.  Choose to install the driver yourself.
Touch “I want to choose from a list of drivers”.
If no drivers appear in the list, make sure the box next to “Show compatible drivers” is not checked.
Choose HP from the Manufacture list.
Choose DeskJet PCL 3 Class Driver from the Drivers list.  If that driver doesn't work, try using the Photosmart PCL3 driver, or the Officejet PCL 3 driver.  (Thank you JonW for letting me know about these other alternates. )
    Touch Next.
    Touch Finish.
    Test printing.
For USB connected printers, you will need a USB cord to attach the printer to the computer.
Connect the printer to the computer via USB.
Windows will try to find the drivers but will not be able to.
Here Windows may ask you if you want to choose the driver to install.  If it does skip to step 14 below.
Starting from the right edge, swipe your finger left on the Surface screen to bring up the Charms bar.
    Touch Search.
Under the Search box, touch Settings.
In the Search box, type Device Manager.
    Touch Device Manager.
Touch View and select Show Hidden.
Search for the printer in the Device Manager.  It should be under Other Devices with a yellow caution sign beside it.
Select the printer from the list.
    Touch Action.
Touch Update Driver, or Install whichever one it displays.
The Surface will ask you what you want to do, search the internet for the driver, or manually install the driver.

  • How can I print from my iPhone to a non AirPrint printer

How can I print from my iPhone to a non AirPrint printer?  I was told by an Apple tech to do so via Airpot Express USB port. I already have a wired and wireless network and printers connected via Ethernet.  I am just trying to print from my iPad and/or iPhone to my existing printers...if possible. I tried the airport express but that does not appear to do what I need. Any help or a definitive "no way" would be appreciated.

How can I print from my IPAD3 to a printer connected to Airport Express? I have a HP printer and I can print from all my Windows PC and iMAC in the house. How can I print from my IPaD?

    You cannot.
The USB port on the AirPort Express allow sharing a printer with Windows and Mac OS X, not with iOS:
"Wireless printing over USB requires a compatible printer and OS X v10.2.7 or later, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7":

"AirPrint-enabled printers  connected using Bluetooth or shared through a USB port of a Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule are not supported":
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
The HP ePrint app also does not provide such functionality:
Can I print from the HP ePrint mobile app using USB or Bluetooth?
No. You can only print directly to supported HP printers on a local wireless network.

  • Can I print from my had to x64 printer

The hp2542 is connected but how can I print from my iPad Air? Do I need an App?

    Hello @Leek47,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you would like to print from your iPad Air.
    I would like to help.
The iOS devices have a built in print driver. This is known as Airprint.
As long as the printer and iPad are on the same wireless network, you should be able to print.
Print from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
I like to use the HP ePrint app when printing from my mobile devices.
