Hp p6000 desktop not starting power supply...?

I have a solid green light on the power supply but the fan does not come on.  (nothing but the green light comes on) The start up button flickers briefly when pressed but only after being unplugged and only once until it is unplugged again. I  have gone though the hp trouble shooting page.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As you did not define the model number (just a reference to the HP p6000 series) I had to guess it was the stock 300W used in several of the models.
It the green light is 'on' with applied voltage, but goes out when the computers power switch is depressed, that usually means the power supply has failed. Open the case, and repeat the sequence, noting the PSU light, motherboard LED, and watch the CPU fan. Now, press the computer power switch. Did the CPU fan turn briefly? If the CPU fan quit, and the motherboard LED is now off, I again would suspect the PSU.

    Hello @davilea,
I understand that you are getting a loud noise from your computer and a 'No Signal' message on your HP Media Center m7160n Desktop PC's monitor. As you have already replaced the power supply I will provide you with the HP Support document: Flat Panel Monitor Displays Message about No Signal, Signal out of Range, Sleep, or Power Save, which should help you resolve the 'No Signal' message.

  • Mac Pro won't start; power supply problems?

Hi friends, I'm having some very inconvenient hardware problems. My Mac Pro system will not start up. I have done some preliminary searching for similar issues, and it seems there are too many possible outcomes for me to tell directly from their answers. I'm writing in hopes that someone has had the same experience and can offer advice.
    Here's my symptoms.
    • Mac Pro system, late 2009. Dual Quad-core Intel Xenon, I think. (I usually just go to System Profile, rather than memorise this crap.) Two internal drives (SSD for system, HDD for data); all other hardware standard.
    • Power light indicator is solid white. No blinking.
    • No startup chime and no audio bleeps
    • Display is dark, no activity of any kind.
    • This behaviour persists with no network connections, no hardware peripherals outside of Apple Studio display and its associated USB cable (which allows the keyboard)
Do we suspect it's the power supply? It seems to power on, and clicks to life as it does after waking from sleep, but doesn't boot. Pressing the power button again shuts down the machine instantly — no 5-second-hold required.
It could be the RAM, I guess. I have yet to do the diagnosis of removing DIMM pairs one-by-one to see if something is the problem.
Any advice you can offer is great. Thanks

There are LEDs adjacent to the RAM positions that, when lit, indicate a bad DIMM.
The side door is not interlocked, and there are no hazardous Voltages available to your unaided fingers, but components may be HOT.
A Bad DIMM will not preclude Booting. Your Mac will note the defect and attempt to boot without that DIMM. And 2009 DIMMs are independent, so losing one does not take out any others.

  • Dv6 6121se, wont start, power supply OK, caps lock blinking

    Hello,

  • CTI toolkit Agent desktop not starting

    Hi
I have recently installed a CTI toolkit agent desktop in my PC but it is not starting and is giving error
"Cisco Desktop client has stpped working"
This is the first time i installed this application in my computer running windows7 64 bit.
the version of cti toolkit is 8.0.1
what should i look for ??

Two things come to mind.  First make sure you have the latest version, 8.0.1 doesn't sound like the latest one.  Next, make sure you install it as administrator.

  • Desktop Theatre DTT2200 power supply

i realize that my speaker system is old and no longer in production i suppose. but my power supply has gone out and i need a new one.its s 3.5v and puts out 2.5 amps.
i tried to contact through email but it asks me to select my speaker system from a list and its not there. i've gone to radio shack and they told me i need to contact the manufacturer and get one from them because its a special power supply i suppose. is there anyone that has any knowledge or help you can give me. please dont tell me that i have to throw the whole system away. thank you for your time.

    Waqar,
You will have to contact Customer Support and see if they still have those available but as this is quite an old model speaker, chances isn't too high. You can still contact them and check it out though.

  • Computer not accepting power supply

I have a problem with my power cord that seems to be slowly getting worse. My power cord is plugged into my computer, but it is not charging the battery or supplying the computer with power. When I jiggle it around, or pull on the cord to apply pressure on the plug, it seems to work for a while, but now no matter which direction I hold it in, the power is not getting to the computer.
Note: the ring around the plug is still glowing, but that is about it.
    Please help asap
    Thank you

Remarkably, it probably won't be. The part that it likely failing is the DC in board. This board and cable can be replaced quite easily, and is actually cheaper than a new external power supply.
If you have a 12 inch iBook G4, this is the part you want - http://www.ifixit.com/cart/catalog/product1167_iBook_G4_12_DCInBoard.html .. they are currently out of the part for the 14 inch one, but you may be able to get one of those from pbparts.com or ebay.
Have a look at the instructions for installing it (here - http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/83.8.0.html ) and see if you feel comfortable doing it. It's pretty simple if you have the correct tools.

  • Battery not charging, power supply not reliable

For a week or so I've had trouble recharging the battery in my 12" iBook g4.  I had to fiddle with the power supply connection so the computer would recognize that it was plugged in, and the power icon in the top menu bar would flip randomly between running on battery, charging, and plugged in. Often I couldn't fully charge the battery, but it discharged at a normal rate.
Tonight my iBook battery abruptly dropped to reading either 1% or 0%.  I tried connecting my usual power supply, which didn't register at all. I tried another power supply and got a few seconds of operation before the computer went to sleep again.  So long as it's plugged in it does the same thing whether the battery is in or out.
I'm not sure whether this is a battery problem or a more basic computer problem--the logic board? something else? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

AH, I've basically had the same problem and found a fix! It is most likely a DC-Inboard issue with your iBook as my iBook would boot from the AC Adapter and if it did it would last a mere 20 seconds. The DC-Inboards are old now and die, the part is $10 on eBay, if you want to know for sure its the DC-Inoard plug in the Ac-Adapter and if it turns green you're good (It may be a other issue), it turns a yellow-ish color (Not ORANGE) then it is the DC-Inboard, the orange color can be both good or bad. The yellow-ish color is due to the DC-Inboard not being positive if it charging or not, and when this happens you can "Jiggle" the power cord to get it to boot (However it must stay on a desk and not move!) and if you're lucky you'll have enough time to back up any info you may have (Just for safety incase the DC-Inboard doesnt do the job!)
Here is a link for the DC-Inboard replacement- http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iBook+G4+12-Inch+1.33+GHz+DC-In+Board+Replacement/69 9

  • Multi-label desktops not starting (Solaris 10u9)

I'm attempting to create a multi-label trusted JDS desktop setup, where each workspace is tied to a specific label, which is in turn associated with a specific zone. I'm starting out simple and just creating one label and one non-global zone. I'm able to have the zone autoboot, use "smc" to associate the zone with the label, and set a workspace to that particular label. However, the desktop does not show up in that workspace. All I get is a background with the color that I've assigned to that particular label.
I can start nautilus manually from within the zone after setting DISPLAY to ":0.0", and the desktop will show up in the workspace. However the desktop running in the global zone seems to use the same configuration files as the non-global zone (i.e. if I change the background in one workspace, the other changes as well). I'm also unable to use "gnome-panel" to run any apps in the non-global zone from the Launch menu.
I'm using Solaris 10u9. Seems like there is something rudimentary and simple that I'm missing. I've been at this for way too long and it's driving me nuts. Thanks for the help!

  • How to fix -In Windows 8.1, Firefox seems to revert to desktop not Start page, when it is closed.

Windows 8 seems to be running on two systems - the desktop (which is just like windows 7), and the start page. Is there a way to integrate Firefox into the start page system? It does open it, but closes out the the desktop. (We are longtime Firefox users, and don't want to use IE, so will just work around it, but it just seems a little disjointed.)

I don't know whether this is a Firefox-specific problem or a problem with "traditional" Windows apps in general. Do other programs you start from the desktop close and display the Start page the way you prefer?

ok, i've calmed down now and i think everythings sorted. all my files are still there and all applications, the ?'s just needed clicking on in the dock. i found it strange and wondered why my background changed. it's not a big deal, i just changed it straight back, but it made me think if that changed to default what other settings have changed to default? i've only had my mac a week or so, so i can't remember changing anything drastic, so this shouldn't really be a problem.
thanks alot for all the help, i'll know where to come next time i have any trouble. i love knowing that mac's have a good community of people willing to help each other out.

  • My unit went down hill fast from trying to boot up to only the power supply fan runs.

The power on lite is on. The DVD lite flashes then stops. The card reader lite is on. Is this the end of days for this piece of junk!!

    ditwad,
I've also responded to your other post about support, and asked there for some of your specifics - contact info, system model type and serial on bottom of the unit, and your last case number.  If you could send me those in a private message (little envelope in the forum), I'll try to arrange some further help.
By your post title, I get the broad strokes of the matter - it's gone from bad to worse.   In order to get more valuable help from other's in the forum, it is helpful to provide some details.
What model desktop system do you have?    What has been happening that led up to these recent events?  Was anything changed or added to the system?
No video?  No beeps?    You note the power supply / fan spins.  How about the hard disk, can you hear it spin up?
    Best regards,
