HP P6203W CPU fan error on startup windows 7 32bit system

Hi there guys !
I got this HP computer for about a year now and since changing my broken CPU fan i got a CPU fan error on startup.
I have got a HP P6203W
MOBO: Pegatron Narra5
Bios: phoenix technologies 5.55 12/08/2009
I wanted to reduce some noise from my computer by replacing the CPU fan,
so i changed the original fan for a Noiseblocker-Multiframe M8-S1.
Now when i start up the computer; the fan slowly turns around , and i then got an CPU fan error before windows fired up. I can get past it by pressing F2 but its annoying to do so every time i start up. Plus I don't think the fan is turning fast enough.
I already tried checking cpu fan settings in the bios, but i have the blocked bios.
No fan settings here.
Do one of you guys have any clue about how to get my CPU fan working properly again or maybe a bios update for my motherboard ?
Any help would be very much appreciated !
thanks for your time

Hello willibrord87,
There isn't a BIOS update available for your motherboard so that is not going to be an option.
On some BIOS you have the ability to disable the system from checking the CPU Fan to avoid the error. If it's there it would be under Advanced menu and then a sub menu called Hardware Monitor. HP like many manufacturers lock out settings to avoid users changing settings to much in the BIOS so the system may not have the option. Since you said you already checked the settings I'm assuming we can skip this.
So it brings us to the motherboard. The CPU fan plug on the motherboard is a 12v connector, the Noiseblocker you have starts a slow ramp up based on this link http://goo.gl/6jsgn it says it's a start voltage of only 5v. I'm thinking that since the CPU fan is not starting up quick enough the motherboard is failing out and giving the CPU fan error. In the end the error is not a real error because once the CPU fan actually works then it's good to go.
You may want to try a different CPU fan that has a quicker spin up, or at least move that CPU fan to another system to see if it exhibits the same slow spin up.

  • Asus p5k cpu fan error

I finally installed my new cpu cooler today ( Noctua NH-U9B SE2 ) and went from my old vacuum cleaner fan at 80°C to an ultra quiet 25°C. But when booting up, i get a damn cpu fan error for whatever reason, and i get a few beeps and have to press F1 to continue. Why is that? I connected my new fan to the 3-pin and not the 4-pin, is that the issue? i could try the 4-pin ( the connector head only have 3 holes though ) but i wouldn't wanna risk making my mobo fubar. How do i fix it?

I had the same problem on my ASUS/HP IPIBL-LA motherboard, error 9998. I solved in this way:
    1) The Brand BIOS is American Megatrends, so i downloaded their utility AMIBIOS flash utility from here http://www.ami.com/Support/amibiossupport/
    2) Then use winrar or a similar program to get only the file 513.ROM from the file sp37377 (that is the BIOS).
    3) open the folder amiflash, then AMIBIOS, then AFUwin, select the folder 32 or 64 (depends on your operating system), run the application
    4) Click on 'OPEN' in the bottom of the window and select the file '513.ROM'
    5) go in setup-CMOS options and select 'Load ROM file's optimal', select also 'restart after programming'
    6) close all the running applications and click 'FLASH'
after the restart you have to go in the Bios pressing F10, set the bootable Hard disk, save and restart.

  • Fan error at startup in ibm thinkpad t42

i always get fan error at startup in my  ibm thinkpad t42 since 1 week. i press esc key at error and that is the only way my system startup. its not in warranty and will like to try to fix it on my own. please help. i am worried

Try bblowing some air into the fan lover when the system is off. Then turn the system on and put your hand at the louver to see if it blows air. If this doesnt work, run PC doctor for DOS ( available at  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-56222) and check the problem. If this doesnt work either, replace the fan.

  • CPU fan error

My CPU fan failed. I replaced it with a new fan. The is working fine. However, I get the CPU fan error message on booting. After pressing F2 key, the PC boots and is working fine for prolonged hours. While I tried to determine the cause of the error message from the BIOS, I found that there is nothing to select in the Advance tab. I want to know why this error message appears every time I boot the machine and how to resolve it.

The replacement fan should equal the "rpm" of the former fan. If it's slower, you will be this warning. If its too slow,  the computer will shutdown.

  • T61-Fan Error on startup and cant boot in system

after Thinkpad logo, 2 short 'Bee' sound and 'fan error' message appears on the top left screen, then 1 'Bee' sound, laptop shut down. Althought can boot in system by pressing Esc when 'fan error' appears, but dont know this will damage something like circus or chips.
Anyone have same problem and solved it? Should I change the fan, and which fan (video car fan or cpu fan) is this problem about. I have a limited warranty dont know if the fan is included.
    Thanks

Fan is covered by warranty, when fan stops spinning then it would usually cause this error.

    Hi Chiluveru Sravanthi
According to the documentation, there is a difference between the path syntax for the repository manager and the network path. Did you pay attention to this difference when doing your configurations?
    Network paths (Network Path)
Specifies the path to the Windows remote server.
The path consists of the IP address of the Windows remote server, and a path specification.
    For example,
    192.168.0.1share
Alternatively, you can enter the UNC name and path of the server, for example,
    servershare.
SAP recommends that you specify the IP address, since you can then check the availability of the server more easily, using the ping command.
Note: It is not sufficient to enter the server name alone. Specifications in the form of c$ cannot be resolved either.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/63/7f283ac3d7c54b94964931fa1b4ed9/frameset.htm
File System Repository Manager (Root Directory)
This denotes the path to the root directory in the file system to which the repository manager is assigned.
If you want to integrate documents from a Windows system, this can be a drive letter (followed by a colon) or directory path on the local server or a remote server share (for example, //myserver/myshare/somedir).
If you are running your portal on UNIX and want to access the file system on another UNIX host, you must mount the required directory on the portal server.
Example path when using a UNIX system:
    /usr/company/share
The repository manager is responsible for the specified directory and all its subdirectories.
Note that multiple repository manager configurations are not allowed to have the same subpath in their Localroot parameter.

  • Error message installing WIndows 32bit on T530

I have a T530 laptop that I am trying to install WIndows 7 32-bit version from an ISO but I get the following error message right after I click the "Install" button during setup.
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
I can not get past this to perform the install.  I have checked several forums and some stated to make sure the CD/DVD rom was placed first in your startup devices (check), pull drivers from lenovo website and try to point the set up to the device drivers (check),  try to redownload the ISO file (check), make sure you have your SATA settings to AHCI (check), try using a USB-DVD ROM (check).  Has anyone else seen or have been able to resolve this issue?
SIde note: I have tried install Windows 7 64-bit edition and it installed fine on the same machine.

Hi ncook6, welcome to the forum,
Do I read your post correctly that you are trying to install from an USB drive?
If so have you inserted the USB drive in an USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port?  When installing from USB you must use a USB 2.0 port; Win 7 doesn't have the USB 3.0 drivers, but it does have them for 2.0.

I want to monitor CPU usage and available memory for Windows 2000 computer. Is there a VI that can call the task mngr. via a DLL to provide this information in real time ?

There was a nice example using .NET technology, but it seems the link has changed and I cannot find it anymore. See this older thread for some clues.
Does anyone know what happened to the target of the original link in my old post?

  • Fan Error on HP desktop

    hi there guys,
i got a hp: p6203w desktop computer with the stock; Sunon KD1209PTS2 on board as a case fan.
I recently switched it with a Noiseblocker MS-81 quiet fan and got the cpu fan failure on startup.
Now whats weird is when i check my speeds with speedfan software is that, with my original fan the software say Fan2 : 1000 RPM
now when i start windows 7 (after i pressed F2 when failure pops up) and check my speeds with the new fan , the software say Fan2: 0 RPM
whats remarkable is that the new fan is actually turning , when i checked my computer open-cased, not very fast but its slowly turning, while the software said it doesn't
So whats this saying for me is that the computer didn't recognized the fan in the first place at starting up the computer !
Do you guys know if this has something to do with a RPM check at startup ? Or is it another difference in specifications of the two different fans ?
Its no possibility for me to check out my bios, because i already checked and i'm not blessed with a cool n quiet function or other fan settings
Maybe the new Noiseblocker fan is just not turning fast enough for the computer to recognize it ?
Please help me out here i got stuck !
    Best regards
    Willie

all my fans are 3pin also the new one but the new Noiseblocker has a 3pin (tacho) connector?
maybe this has something to do with this problem ?
You say it has a 3-pin tacho connector?
Speedfan may not be reading the tachometer signal  with the Noiseblocker fan because it is is faulty. Normally changing the fan is quite straightforward.
If  the fan is running, you have checked the CPU and motherboard temps and they are within specs, it is really not an issue. It is more of an annoyance if you are willing to tolerate it.  You may be able to turn off the warning in the BIOS
What is the CPU that is installed?
The standard is a single three pin connector.

or any government intervention is required ?

    Hello @yoursviru ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you have issues with charging and a 90b fan error on startup.
To address your question about a trial period after repair: Typically the repairs should include a 90 day service warranty or the remainder of your existing warranty whichever is greater. This depends if the repair was done by HP or an authorized HP provider. HP Phone Support can confirm this for you.
If the repair was not done by HP or an HP service provider HP cannot guarantee the work of third party companies.
The power not charging the notebook could be an issue with the battery, internal power connector cable, power adapter, or motherboard. All of which are hardware related.
You can read about the fan error here and what to do to fix it: System Fan (90b) error message on startup.
To sum everything up. I suggest you get in touch with HP Phone Support as soon as possible as they are the ones who can give you a straight answer regarding service and warranty questions. My answers are based on personal experiences, as the forums do not offer service and are available regardless of the warranty status.
Hopefully Phone Support can give you the answers you're looking for.
