HP Pavilian 533w - Multimedia Audio Controller Will not load

I have a HP Pavilion 533w that I can't get the Multimedia Audio Controller to load. I am running Windows XP home, and it is a new installation. The error code is 28 and I have been to HP's web site and followed all of their instructions with no help.
Can someone please tell me why that I can't get the onboard sound to work in this computer? I have been working for two days on this thing, and I am about to shoot this thing and build her a computer that works.
P.S.
The sound was working before the fresh install of XP Home

Hi:
It looks like your PC can have two different motherboards:
One has the ADI 1981 audio and one has the Realtek audio.
Realtek AC97 audio driver is here:
Accept the agreement, download and install the second one on the list:

  • My Audio Files will not load??? Help please!!!

This is my first time to audition and it started with me wanting to do advanced editing from premier pro to audition.
However as you can see nothing loads, waveform or playback. This is the first to audition, so its possible im missing something very simple...
    Thanks in advance!

Adobe Phone Support is complete crap. I seemingly got hung up on after a long time of silence and being asked to hold on as he appears to look into my situation.
My work around for my solution I figured out myself is to do this:
Right click the audio file in the media browser and open into audition from premier pro. The extracted file I then edited in audition and then had to drag the extracted file from media browser in premier pro to the timeline sequence.
Right clicking the clip the premier pro time line and editing in audition screws up the extraction process creating a tiny file that does nothing.
I can make it work but it doesn't work the way Adobe intended I presume.
    Pretty irritating.

  • Hp pavilion a1250n says multimedia audio controller not installed, sound not working (windows7)

No sound plays with my logitech ls11 speakers. my computer is a hp pavilion a1250n, running windows 7, 32 bit operating system, and a AMD ahtlon(tm)64 x2 dual core processor 3800+ 2.00 GHz
When i click the speaker icon in the lower right corner, and open the playback devices, it says:
Speaker: anvsoft virtual sound device, default device.
When i ran a  troubleshooter, to see if there were any files I should install, i got an error message:
multimedia audio controller couldnt not be installed, driver not found.
In device manager, below the sound video and game controlers tab, it says Anvsoft virtual sound device.
Bellow the other devices tab, it says multimedia audio controler, but there is a yellow triangle exclamation makr over it.
How can I get sound on my computer? Are there any free programs that are compatible that will allow me to have sound?
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this.

  • Multimedia Audio contrlloler is not installed properly due to an exclamation mark in front of it.

    Hi,
I have a Windows XP SP3(32Bit) installed on a Desktop Computer with a PIII processor, and 512MB of RAM.
My Desktop Computer with P 4 doesn't have any access internet since there is no network adapter installed. As a result, I would not be able to run the Intel  Audio Card Reader a web-based applet that identifies my Audio Card and finds the latest audio
    driver for my Audio adapter.
I have Multimedia Audio contrlloler driver installed improperly since an exclamation mark is shown in front  of it in the device manager.
    This is Hardware ID (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5&SUBSYS_97611849&REV_02).
I have tried to download the driver from
    here:
However, I don't know which one of them I should download since there are
quite a lot of them, and there aren't classified as to 32-Bit, and 64-Bit versions of Windows Systems.
Thus, could you please help me to decied which one I could choose.

    Hi,
It seems to be a soundMAX card in which case this file should work for you - http://www.mediafire.com/download/lo5nyw2utm2/SoundMAX_Audio_V510X6480_XP.zip
** Note, this file has not been tested by me personally - Please ensure you scan with AV post and prior extracting the ZIP, If it does not look right, do not install **
Its next to impossible to find vendor sites with the original drivers for this age of hardware.

If you find my information useful, please rate it. :-)
    Thanks a lot,
    Martin G. Evans.
According to the screen shots above, the Hardware ID is: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5..
The vendor ID of Multimedia Audio Controller  is 8086 and the device ID is

I WAS EXPECTING THAT KNOWING THE VENDOR ID AND THE DEVICE ID WILL LET ME QUICKLY FIND THE APPROPRIATE  DRIVER. HOWEVER, NEITHER YOU, NOE ME FOUND THE APPROPRIATE DRIVER.
I don't think that driver given is the appropriate driver since

I have checked the other Windows XP SP2(32Bit) which is oder installed, and it seems it infected by some viruses.

  • Multimedia Audio Controller, and Video Controller(VGA compatible) are missing on Windows XP(32Bit) SP3

    Hi.
My Desktop Computer(Intel P 4, 512MB of RAM, and Graphics Card  with 256MB of RAM)
Also, My Desktop Computer with P 4 doesn't have any access internet since there is no network adapter is installed. As a result, I would not be able to run the pc scan utility, or  Reader a web-based applet that identifies my GPU or Audio controller
and finds the latest graphics driver for my GPU, and Audio.
I have two Windows XP installations:
Windows XP SP2(32Bit) which is old and it seems it infected by some viruses.
I have installed another fresh clean Windows XP(32Bit) SP3. However, I have two devices not detected well by Windows XP.
First of all, when saying that I have multi-operationgs systems, I mean there are two operating systems installed on my PC(SP2, SP3) both are 32Bit. The first Windows SP2(NOT installed by me) has all multimedia audio card installed well,
and has SCSI and RAID Host Controller shown the device manager. However, only the VGA is not installed on Windows SP2. However, the second one Windows SP3(Installed by me) has VGA not installed, Multimedia audio NOT installed, and there is no SCSI and RAID
    Host Controller in device manager.
First:  Yes, my motherboard has integrated video, and integrated audio card
According to the screen shots above, then
The vendor ID of Multimedia Audio Controller  is 8086 and the device ID is

  • Need"multimedia audio controller" driver for pavilion zv5340us running XPsp3

Just received a free HP Pavilion zv5340us and can not find the driver for the multimedia audio controller.
Searched everywhere on the net (HP website, Driverguide,etc...) and on my XP cd.
I have everything else working but I have no sound.
Running XP SP3. Does anyone have this driver?

    Hi:
I see there are no audio drivers for your notebook on the support page, nor does the product description say much about the audio that would help, so...
Click on the multimedia audio controller in the device manager. Then click on the details tab.  Post the top string of characters you see there. Those will hopefully ID the manufacturer and model of your audio card, and I can try and find the driver link to post for it.

  • Multimedia Audio Controller WORKAROUND fo

Hello all,?I am experiencing occasional/frequent loss of Audio in both XP Pro and Vista for my X-FI extreme gamer card. After hours of troubleshooting i have discovered the following workaround that may help you if you are experiencing a similar problem. Symptom.Upon initial boot of either XP or Vista the audio has?gone. Multimedia Audio Controller evident?in device manager with exclamation mark. Drivers and Software unchanged since last reboot? How to apply workaround:NOTE: Do not remove drivers or any other software before proceding with the steps below. , Turn off your PC2, Open chassis3, Remove X-FI card4, Boot system again without card in5, Do nothing and turn PC off again6, Re-insert card7, Boot machine into OS again8, Enjoy sound once more? This works everytime for me I can only think its something to do with HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) on initial boot. I can only hope Creative take note of this workaround and fix this soon. For the record i am using both latest drivers for XP and Vista. Apologies if this doesn't work for you I only have one machine so cannot replicate. Tim

There is an alternati've, search this site **removed competitor link** . Can't give you specifics since the mods here will end up removing my post if I do but you can start there. Problem with the alternati've is the expense and the fact that it has only recently released beta drivers for support in Vista with openAL. I don't have this alternati've and I don't know anyone personally that does so I can't honestly say it's better or worse.
*Can't post links to competitor product stores either. Dale-CLMessage Edited by Dale-CL on 08-03-2007 04:30 PM

  • Multimedia Audio Controller issues "The data is Invalid"

can someone please explain to me what that meens and how to resolve the issue?
Uninstalling and reinstalling has done nothing, roll back drivers has done nothing and also defeats the purpose of updating drivers. This issue began when i was prompted to update drivers, so i did and BANG no more sound.
All files on the DVD install ACCEPT the WDM drivers which im guessing are pretty important. Everytime they try and install i get a Data invalid message and the typical yellow exclamation mark in the device manager over 2 options. High definition audio and Multimedia Audio Controller.
This has hppened to me anytime ive ever tried to update drivers, only way i fixed it was to reinstall OS, really not keen to do that anymore, just to install a sound driver.
Also, they really should not be telling us to update sound drivers, because they never ever update properly, without hassle.
    Using XtremeMusic X-Fi SB04606
    Windows XP
    ASUS P5B Deluxe Wi-FI
    Intel core 2 duo 2.67Ghz
    3Gb's ram
P.s The sound card was workin before i tried to update teh drivers from the Creative Support Website. I followed instructions there and my sound card is no longer working.

    Hi,
You might want to attempt the following registry fix. It is strongly recommended to back up the current registry settings and create a restore point before proceeding.
    1. Select Start - Run and type regedit to open the Registry Editor.
    2. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ENUM\P CI and you see a number of keys in the form VEN_xxxx, where xxxx are strings such as VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00511102&REV_03.
    3. Under each of these folders you will find another folder with a long numerical name. Open each folder and look for the DeviceDesc which matches the hardware you want to install.
    4. Right Click on the VEN_xxxx for that device and select Permissions and then tick Allow for Full Control.
    5. Close Regedit and then continue with the installation of your device.
You might also want to download the file PNPREG.EXE from www.microsoft.com, and run the pnpreg tool from a command prompt. After downloading the file, select Start - Run and type COMMAND. At the Command prompt, type Pnpreg -l.

  • Multimedia Audio Controller/driver prob

    Help me please.
OK i just got my first sound card today; an X-Fi xtream music.
And i have the problem where i cant install the drivers. I get Multimedia Audio controller as a yellow question mark in the device manager, when XP copies files from the CD to the windows/drivers32 folders (or what ever it is called) it does not work and says there is a data error and this is after installing from the creative cd and XP still says new hardware detected. I have seen a lot of posts about this but the answers are not working for me.
I HAVE DISABLED MY ONBOARD AUDIO through bios, which seemed to fix everyone else's problems.
I have completely uninstalled every audio device/driver i could get my hands on and then reinstalled as a selecti've startup, in the system configuration utility thingo. I cant get rid of 'legacy audio drivers' but i think thats to be expected
I have a logitech quickcam webcam, which i have disabled if that helps anything
I downloaded and ran the 40MB driver update.
I have tried using other PCI slots (do u need to to reinstall the drivers after trying a new slot?)
I am using an asus p4s800-mx se motherboard, Win XP SP2
and i think that sums up everything i have been doing for the last 6 to 7 hours
Also someone was saying irq stuff, i have no idea but here is mine:
http://members.optusnet.com.au/~mike440/irq.JPGAlso apparently i am "ACPI uniprocessor PC"
Does any of this help narrow down my problem? I bet it is something basic, it always is but i am just sick to death of restarting and reinstalling. I hope it does not come down to me reinstalling XP, i only did that the other month and it takes for ever to get my settings back the way i like it and it would not be worth having a soundcard.
    Thanks

  • Soundblaster Live! Platinum, Windows XP SP2 & "Multimedia Audio Controller" w/Yellow Question M

I am setting up a brand new PC, but using some old trusted parts, like my SB Li've! Platinum, with the Li've Dri've.
In the past, setting up with Windows XP w/SP never resulted in any problems. I would have the Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe file on CD and once I booted to the Windows Desktop, I could browse the CD, install the drivers without incident.
Enter Windows XP w/SP2 ... this is a fresh install with SP2 slipstreamed into the install media. This comes direct from Microsoft via MSDN Download, and is not a home grown piece of install media.
When the installation completes, I have sound, but I also have the following:
In the Device Manager, under Other Devices, I have an entry for:Multimedia Audio Controller (yellow question mark)

    You're very welcome.
Looks to me like you have to manually install the XP audio driver as follows...
Download and run this file.  If it installs the audio, great.  If not...close out of any error windows.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-18403-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
Go to the device manager and click on the multimedia audio controller needing drivers.
Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software and browse to:
C:\SWSetup\sp27325\SMAXWDM\W2K_XP\smwdmNV8, and select the SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio device from the list and see if the driver installs that way.
    Then reboot.

  • Multimedia Audio Controller Problem

I accidentally deleted my SoundMAX audio driver from the add/remove programs page, and now I am getting an error that says my audio is not properly configured, and in my device page, there is a yellow "?!" next to Multimedia Audio Controller.  I do not have the CD to reinstall the software like the wizard requires.  Also, I tried downloading the unzip(?) driver from Toshiba's page, but nothing worked.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
