HP Pavilion 15t-n200 Notebook PC with Windows 7

Several days ago, the HP Pavilion 15t-n200 Notebook PC with Windows 7 was listed on your website with an 'after savings' price of $599 which included a free upgrade from the 8G RAM to 12G Ram. No additional software, etc. The only reason I didn't purchase it then is because I was waiting for funds to clear as I buy all our equipment on a cash-only basis.
Today, your Labor Day 'Sale' is showing the same laptop with an 'after savings' price $549, however the upgrade to the 12G Ram is now $75. I've been an HP buyer for the last 10 years, but this seems more like an illusion of a sale than an actual sale for the same exact specs.
Can someone please explain??
Thank you!

Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm sorry, this is not an acceptable answer.  I've been watching this laptop for nearly 3 weeks and as I mentioned, I've been buying HP products for 10 years.
HP lowers the price by $50 on the front end for a "Sale", but then removes the free RAM upgrade.  So, the laptop with the exact same specs are now $25 more than before the sale.
Most people probably wouldn't notice the small change from a free upgrade to an upgrade that now costs $75, but I did. That isn't a sale.  That is very deceptive marketing, specifically since HP is promoting this product as part of its Labor Day Sale.

  • HP Pavilion 15t-n200 (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit) -- Recovery Drive Almost Full

    Hello, Everyone:
I just set up my new HP Pavilion 15t-n200 laptop (product number E9Z18AV) yesterday.  Other than installing software for my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium printer and a free PDF Creator, I added no other software to the laptop. To my big surprise, the D drive (recovery drive) shows that I have used 22.5 GB, leaving only 2.4 GB free!
FYI, the specs for my laptop are:
    Intel Core i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz
    12 GB system memory
1T hard drive (of which 856 GB is free)
I would appreciate any advice or guidance from forum members to resolve this issue.
    Thank you.

That is how it is shipped. The D: drive is static. It is only used for making restore disks or restoring the system so there is no need to leave free space. The drive that is dynamic (i.e. stuff is being added) is the C:\ drive. You should have lots of space there.

  • Connecting an External Monitor to a HP Pavilion 15t-n200

I have a HP Pavilion 15t-n200 laptop computer and I'm trying to hook up an external monitor.
I tried connecting directly to a monitor with an HDMI cable and this didn't work. So I bought a HDMI to VGA adaptor, and still no luck.
In both instances, I hooked up the monitor and pressed the F4 key to select how I select the other display. But none of the choices: Duplicate, Extend, or Second Screen Only seem to work. In fact, nothing happens when I make any of these selections.
    Am I missing a step?

    JKinnicutt wrote:

I updated the BIOS and the video drivers and it's still not working.
Pressing Fn F4 opens the selection for how I want to view the external monitor. And clicking something makes the laptop screen go black and then back on. (Unless I select Second Screen Only, then the laptop screen stays black). But the external monitor never displays anything.

    8GB DDR3 RAm/Memory
    64-bit Operating System
    Windows 8.1
If anyone could help me find out what mother boar I have that would be great.

    Here is the Service Manual:
    Manual
    See Page 20
You have one of these boards depending on which video chip you have and which version of Windows. The processor is soldered to the board.
    Intel Core i5-4200U 740M 1.6-GHz (2 GB DC BGA 15 W) for use with Windows Standard 736377-501
    Intel Core i5-4200U 740M 1.6-GHz (2 GB DC BGA 15 W) for use with Windows Professional 736377-601
    Intel Core i5-4200U 840M 1.6-GHz (2 GB DC BGA 15 W) for use with Windows Standard 751494-501
    Intel Core i5-4200U 840M 1.6-GHz (2 GB DC BGA 15 W) for use with Windows Professional 751494-601
    Intel Core i5-4200M 840M 1.6-GHz (2 GB DC BGA 15 W) for use with Windows Standard 754312-501
    Intel Core i5-4200U 8670M 1.6-GHz (2 GB DC BGA 15 W) for use with Windows Professional 754312-601
So look at device manager under Display adapter and do you have regular Windows 8.1 or 8.1 Pro?
Why do you need to know what model motherboard you have?

  • HP Pavilion dv2700 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows Vista - Problem with DVD/CD Player

Have only played maybe 5 movies with this laptop system and than it stopped working all together. Have asked for support while under warranty with no success. Don't understand why the unit is still fairly new but will not play any cd's or dvd movies.

Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center will play music cd's. Inserted DVD Movie and went to computer and double clicked E Drive and it did not display any files.
Inserted a DVD movie and went to Windows Media Cenetr and clicked play DVD and it said the following " WMC cannot detect a video DVD in the DVD-ROM Drive". I ejected the DVD and than reinserted same and can hear something running and clicking but still will not play a DVD.
I believe I've played maybe 5 DVD Movies since purchased this unit new and then it stopped playing any DVD's.

After my laptop has been running for a couple of hours, the keyboard starts typing all kinds of letters, numbers and printing prompts on its own. I spoke with a tech support person at a local retailer and they believe that there is a "short" in the keyboard and/or cable. I have been using an external keyboard as a work around, but an external keyboard is cumbersome for traveling. Unfortunately the laptop is out of warranty by about a month. Also, this problem started right after I purchased a 4MB RAM upgrade from HP.... don't know if there is any connection??? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Phoenix,
I think you might enjoy reading this article:
What is the Difference Between HDMI and DVI? Which is Better?
Below is a short article about each type of connection:  VGA, DVI, HDMI
Essentially, what you get, how much hassle you go through to understand and make a choice, is based on what you expect from the connection.  VGA is low-res, dependable, and has been around the longest of the three types.
Decide Between VGA, DVI, and HDMI for Your Monitor Connection
I have not had any problems with any monitor when trying to connect it to Windows 8 -- the underpinings to Windows 8 are built from Windows 7.  My experience:  If the Monitor will connect to one, it should work on the other.
Some issues I have had with monitor connections include:
Nvidia graphics on a Win7 machine that had to be down-reved to work with one monitor (circa 2010?)
Irritating issues with the screen aspect ratio on a monitor that is forced to be connected to a system with a different native resolution than that of the monitor -- Do-able, just ps-ant irritating
Switching from one system to another when the monitor is connected to two separate notebooks that are up and running at the same time -- the "switch" is more seemless on some monitors than with others
Note that none of these issues are "show stoppers" for my purposes:  I am not a gamer.

  • I have a Pavilion 25bw screen. not compatible with window 8.1

I have been trying to upgrade to windows 8.1 from 8.0 64 bit
Everytime I do, I get a flashing screen.   Finally after a year of problems
a windows tech figured out that the drivers for this screen are not compatible and that HP does not have an upgrade that
    would be compatible.
Windows techs tell me that windows 10.0 will be coming out soon and that I need to upgrade to 8.1 in order to upgrade to 10.0 for free.   I can't do that when my screen keeps flashing, so I can't operate the computer in order to upgrade to 10.0
I guess I could try a new monitor but what are the chances that one will work.   Am getting a little frustrated with this whole deal.

    Hello @rjay2000,
I understand that you are having issues with the screen on your HP Pavilion 25bw Monitor flashing when you upgrade to Windows 8.1 and you believe it is the monitors drivers that are causing the issue. I am providing you with the HP Pavilion 25bw 25-inch Diagonal IPS LED Backlit Monitor Drivers, which has drivers for your monitor on a computer running Windows 8.1.
I recommend that you download and install these drivers as if it is your monitor that is the cause of your issue this will fix it for you.

Whenever I install the drivers on Windows 7 (previously Windows Vista till 7-8. September 2009) crashes the system with a blue screen, but it has installed correctly though.
Also, when I put the sound card when my computer is on, (The sound card was not inserted before booting time) it becomes?unreliable, and unstable, and prevents windows to shut down or restart: shutting down for infinite, or too much (more than one day) time. On Vista, the driver "blocks" the functionality of the network drivers, and modem driver. (Not if I use the last one too often.)
