Hp Pavilion 23xi Underscanning Resolution

I recently purchased the Pavilion 23xi and I loved to picture clarity and quality, but some games such as Crysis Warhead had some image lag issues. I thought there had to be a way to fix this. I went to the HP website and searched for the 23xi and found the Pavilion 23xi driver. After the installation the monitor now underscans the visible image by about an Inch on the top, left, and right sides of the screen. This creates a black border that now spans the full length of each side.  I thouhght maybe it was the Catalyst Control Center, but no scaling options are allowed (other than GPU scaling enable/disable). I then thought maybe my VGA cable was the cause, I tried an HDMI cable with no change. I then thought maybe it was the software, hooked up my laptop still no change. My last thought was that maybe a scaling option had gotten ticked on the monitor,  I can see a custom scaling option for the monitor but it is not selectable in any form. Also I am running Windows 7 x64 with a Radeon HD 6970.  Is there someobody who can help me correct this, please?

You can test the display by connecting it to a notebook via the HDMI displayport output and using presentation mode to extend the display onto the monitor.
When one starts installing drivers for devices that an OS has for them in its driverstore then things start going wrong.
You really should consider rolling back the display driver installation.  Go into system restore and choose the checkpoint that was created when you installed the display's driver. Once you have done that go to the Crysis forums and take a look there to see what others have done to resolve the image lag.
In the future do yourself the favor of not installing a driver for a new display, unless it is a touchscreen or another special type of display. Your Hp Pavilion 23xi display is a PnP (plug n' play) device. That means plug it in and use it. The OS will take care of installing a WHQL driver.
An example of what I mean is in the following image. I have two P n' P displays connected to this desktop PC's video card outputs.  I can play any game currently on the market with this PC without low FPS or lags.
BTW, you are better off using the DVI input for games and videos and the display's recommended native resolution. Back away from the old school VGA.

  • Pavilion 23xi 23 monitor product number C3Z94AA - Pink color screen

This EXACT thing just happened to me.
Prior to calling HP support, I searched google and found several incidences of this problem.
I also did EXTENSIVE troubleshooting per instructions found on HP forums prior to calling.
And of course this monitor went out of warranty a couple of months ago - only a 1 year warranty???
I tried the using the motherboards graphics card (VGA) and also tried DVI, VGA & HDMI on the Nvidia Geoforce GTX670- all had the same issue with this monitor using different cables and connections.
I connected another monitor I have (Samsung) and it's displays great without problems.
Tried on both Windows 7/64bit & Windows 8 with all current drivers (checked to see if there were new ones)
This monitor Pavilion 23Xi even shows the discoloration and ghost icons when NO cable is connected to the computer and the monitor is just powered on??!!!
Even though I did all this troubleshooting and explained all of it to the tech rep when I first called she said that she could help me for a charge, but would refund it if she was unable to fix it.
I told her no, I did not want to pay a charge because I was pretty sure after a factory reset, another monitor that works ok, trying three different connection types DVI, HDMI & VGA, two different graphics cards and the monitor doing the same ghost icons/discoloration when it was not even connected to a computer - that is was the monitor.
She put me on hold and said that she got permission to troubleshoot without charging me.
We went thru all the steps I did again, powering off, trying different cables, connecting a different monitor etc and of course after all that she said it was the monitor and I would need to take it into Best Buy or some other store to see about getting it repaired.
I do not know the cost, but if its more than $50, I will probably just buy a different brand monitor that has a 3 year warranty, did not notice (slaps self) that these HP's only have a 1 year warranty when several other brands I bought previously all have 3 years... :-(
I should have went with a different brand to begin with based on my problems with HP inks, printers and prices from the past.
It just started doing this today, but is *very* annoying when you paid extra to get a higher quality image.
I just added an image of dropping to the command prompt, that shows that this HP monitor Pavilion 23xi shows ghost icons and images from previously visited pages if you look very closely.
It's really weird, like the monitor is retaining images in a buffer or memory but a reset, power off, holding down the on/off key for 20 seconds (which tech had me do) does not clear this.

  • External HP Pavilion 23xi monitor cuts off laptop audio

I want to use my HP Pavilion 23xi monitor as an external monitor for my laptop (Sony Vaio, Windows 7).  The laptop only has an HDMI connection, so I used an HDMI cable to connect it.  The HP monitor works fine, but when it is connected, it cuts off all audio output on the laptop.  There is no sound from the internal speaker on the laptop, or from the headphone connection.
If the HDMI connection automatically takes over the audio output, surely there should be at least a headphone socket on the PC?  I can't change the connection type, as the laptop only has HDMI for an external monitor.  Is there any configuration change that will fix this?
    This question was solved.

  • Hp Pavilion 23xi monitor brightness in bottom right corner is darker then the rest of the screen

Since yesterday the brightness in the corner in the bottom right is much lower then the rest of the screen.
    How do I fix this?

    Hello @PieterVdw,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that the bottom right corner of your HP Pavilion 23xi monitor is darker than the rest of the monitor and you are seeking assistance in fixing it. I am providing you with some steps you can try below:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
If the above steps did not resolve your issue you can try the monitor on a computer or other device to see if the issue persists. If it does I think it would be best if you contact HP Technical Support for repair options.

  • Why does audio stop when pavilion 23xi sleeps (using Windows 8)

why does audio stop when pavilion 23xi sleeps (using Windows 8)?

    Hello again @st3lla,
I can understand the fear of messing up a computer when I first started seriously working on computers back in the early 90's I had to format and re-install my operating system twice a day for quite a while before I figured out a very important step (at least important for me), and that was after I made a change to my computer to restart it. This way if I messed something up I only had to undo one thing and not 50 because I went wild on it. lol
Anyways, do not be afraid of your computer all you need to do is learn that step, how to keep your personal items backed up and then of course how to re-install your computer back to factory and you can always start over with a fresh build.
    On to your questions:
Q - What are the steps to ensure that all HP updates are done.
A - Simply review the HP Support document: Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8) and it will guide you through the process.
Q - What are the steps to ensure that all Windows updates are done?
A - Simply review the Microsoft Support document: Windows Update: Frequently Asked Questions and again you will find answers to this question. (***Note: Do not worry if the document refers to Windows 8.1 it is only an upgraded version of Windows 8 and the steps are the same)
I am also including a Windows Support document: Install the latest Windows 8.1 Update, which will guide you through how to install the Windows 8.1 update on your computer.
And finally, to put your mind at ease I am providing you with two important HP Support documents: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), and Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will provide you with all the instructions you need to backup your personal files so you do not loose them if you ever do mess up the computer, as well as provide you with instructions on how to put your computer back to how it came from the factory.
Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank you once again for your post on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Connecting HP Pavilion 23xi to a Macbook Pro late 2013

I have just bought a HP Pavilion 23xi monitor as an addition for my Macbook Pro 13in Retina Display late 2013 model. I am wondering and needing to know the best way to successfully connect them both together. Please note I am using the pre-release version of the OS X Yosemite, if that makes a difference which I hope it doesn't.

Yes, I see now. The model number did not register in the old mind correctly.  The  Pavilion 23xi uses D-Sub, DVI, HDMI for connections.  I would recommend the DVI, which means you need " a DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (sold separately)"  copied directly from the Mac webpage HERE

  • Quality of new build of HP Pavilion 23xi / firmware issue?

Hi. I bough one HP Pavilion 23xi one year ago and I was very impressed with the image quality. So I bought one recently, but I noticed a difference between them: when viewed from above or side, this latest one has light leaks and a not-so-uniform display of colors, which get washed out more quickly when viewed from other angles. This does not happen with the first one, and it's independant of operating system (tried on Windows 8.1 64bit and OSX Yosemite.
Is it a build quality or firmware issue?
    Firmware of monitor 1: RIM111 / 2013
    Firmware of monitor 2: RIM232 / 2014
Also the OSD is different between monitors - how can I update firmware RIM111 to RIM232 ?
    Thank you.

  • HP Pavilion G6-1232sl Webcam Resolution?

    Hi There,
I'm trying to find out the resolution of a HP laptop I intend to buy but in all the product specifications, it never shows the max resolution of the webcam. Could someone please answer this for me please?
    Laptop: HP Pavilion G6-1232sl
    Thanks very much,
    alannm37.

     Hi @alannm37,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about you needing the Webcam resolution for HP Pavilion G6-1232sl Notebook.
A resolution up to 1366-768 with a 16:9 wide aspect ratio HD. I suspect the ratio would 720p as it is not listed in your manual for the Webcam. Here is link to the manuals for your notebook.
Hope this is what you need.

  • How to conect with mac HP Pavilion 23xi

how to conect HP 23xi for best , good quality of pictures , or movies ?

    Hi,
It has 1920 x 1080 FHD resolution and it has:
    Input connector:
    1 VGA
    1 HDMI
    1 DVI-D with HDCP
Depending on available port(s) on your computer you can get good results from HDMI, DVI then VGA (best, good and normal).

  • MacBook Pro versus Monitor Pavilion 23xi

    Hi,
Just bought a Pavillion 23xi monitor for my Macbookpro 13inch retina, connected with HDMI to HDMI.
First thing can't find a driver software to MAC OS ?
My laptop reconize the monitor but no image on the monitor, having pop ups with speeping mode..
Hope to find a solution very urgent

    Hello tcs20,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
HP monitors are not supported in a Mac environment. However, newer Macs use graphics with VESA modes and can display to most HP LCD monitors. To do this, connect the monitor to the Mac while the Mac is off, and then turn on the MAC. The monitor should operate at 60Hz. The INF and software for the HP monitor are for Microsoft Windows and cannot be run in a standard MAC OS environment. This and other information on connecting your HP Monitor can be found in the HP Support document: Updating a Monitor Driver.
For further assistance with this you may have to contact the Apple Support Forums. Thank you for posting this issue on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
