I am not the smartest when it comes to Upgrading a Computer. Recently i got my self a HP Pavilion 500 - 194

So I wanted to upgrade my G-Card without upgrading my Power Supply and Mother Board
I Play games like Garry's Mod and Team fortress 2 , which i can max out but as Gaming progress my PC cant handle it.
I was wondering if anyone would recommend any GPU's that would work with my Computer.It would be also grateful if anyone would tell me problems i will get when inserting my GPU in (if there is any) . Thank you and enjoy the rest of your day

Breezy, welcome to the forum.
Here is a guide that you should read carefully before buying a discrete video card. Your computer has the UEFI BIOS with Secure Boot. All of EVGA and XFX 7000 series cards require the UEFI BIOS. I am not certain about the other manufacturers. You would have to contact their Tech Support for this information.
Now, to find a discrete video card that will work with the existing power supply unit (PSU) is nearly impossible. They would not be much better, if any, than the integrated video. Most mid-level cards require a minimum of 400W to operate properly. Here is a good example. Read the section titled "Specifications". I have seen one MSI card that says it requires a 300W or larger PSU. You have to be aware of the length of the card, also. If you are in doubt if a card will fit into the space provided, you can make a template the size of the card. You should add at least one inch for any additional power connectors.

What GPU should I get

I am building a custom PC that I want to be an editing machine. I want something that preform but not overboard since I do not want to pay hundreds of extra dollars on somthing that is overboard.
Here are key components to my PC to this point.

gtx 970 4gb should match your cpu nice. its just over $340-ish, and might seem alot but its very powerful. the cheaper alternative is the gtx 960 2gb at $210-ish. both of these are latest chip series from nvidia and requires less watts than previous generations and amd.
i would suggest you look at something a little higher quality for the power supply, or at least one rated for higher watts so it doesn't have to work so hard. if you look at corsair's lineup you can see the cx is one of their lower models. Corsair Power Supply Units

I have found a GPU that I feel would fit the hp pavilion 500-164 considering it does not need an external power connecter. I just don't know for sure if it would fit or get sufficient power as it needs a 300 watt or greater power supply.

The NVIDIA 750 is a double wide card you you will need to insert a flat bladed screw driver in the adjacent back panel PCI slot and wiggle it back and forth until it comes free then use a pliers if necessary to finally remove the blank slot panel.

HP Pavilion 500-164 recovery discs came with instructions in spanish , do not read spanish

Good afternoon all . I have a HP pavilion 500-164 ,barely a month and a hlaf old , that went into some kind of loop at the HP loading screen after a few minutes a pink screen came up with a frown face alomng with a message that i never coiuld read because its was too fast . I now have my recovery discs but they sent the instuctions in spanish. I do not read spanish very well at all. I need to know if there is anythign iNeed to know /do to make this recovery go smoothly that the instructions would tell me if i could read it. I hope this is clear enough for yall to get what im saying lol. Also if anyone has a link to the instructions i have but in english please . Thank you for taking time out to read this and have a great day. (also can i jsut throw the disc in and it will take care of itself? And DO things, try things, play with your stuff, make experiments just for the trash bin!

What display should I get for my macbook pro?

Hey Guys. I think this is in the correct section.
So I have a Macbook Pro (specs at the bottom) and I am looking to add an external monitor to use as a second monitor and at other times a screen for my playstation. I have never had a monitor before so not sure how big? What resolution? What ppi? HD, UHD, 4K? Someone said something about refresh rate. I have no idea what that is. None of this stuff I know.
Obviously I want the best screen I can have and I would connect my Macbook to it by HDMI using a Thunderbolt to HDMI converter and connect my ps3 to it by HDMI.
What is the highest resolution a HDMI/Thunderbolt can handle?
What screen should I get?
Also I connected it up to my TV once and if I put my mouse at the bottom of the screen and then moved it onto my macbook screen it disapeared and didn't appear again until I moved it up and I don't want this problem
How can i solve this?

Drives like the Samsung don't make a good main drive replacment yuo will see noticable pauses in applicatipon web browsing is one place where the pause is very noticable but people blame internet transfer instead of their hdd pausing while doing a file update.

No. Get one from your carrier or from Apple. Most of the cost will be the monthly service, not the cost of the phone. Many carriers will give you an iPhone for free if you agree to a 2 year contract.

What speed should I get on my N network?

I've got a MacBook Air on my wireless network. I have a Time Capsule then two Airport base stations extended off of this. I'm wondering what speed should I get in transfer theoretically. I feel my WIFI network performs horribly.
I have a 150 meg per sec download internet connection or better and on my hardwired iMac it flies. On the WIFI part though it's dreadful. The MacBook Air may run at 20 to 30 meg per sec and the iPad and iPhone much worse.
I've talked to Apple extensively only to find myself with a third base station in a small condo of 1100 sq ft. I'm finding this very frustrating as they've had me test this thing this way to Friday and it's driving me crazy.

Thanks. This i very useful information. It is extended WIFI with two Airport Base stations providing the extension one specifically designed for air tune. There are probably about 8 to 9 devices on the network.
My speeds on the iMac wired Ethernet can hit about 250 mbs download from my ISP. My WIFI though sounds like its in your range as extended the MacBook Air is doing about 22 to 35 mbs, the iPad is the most pathetic at about 5mbs down and relatively the same up and the iphone actually maybe a bit better at twice that performance. Would that make sense.
It's interesting what you say about mulitple hops. I only added in that third base station as Apple wanted me to try an alternate Airport Express to see if that was the issue and it wasn't. I was just too disinclined to return the third one so I added it to the network so both AE's are running in extended mode. When I had joined with only two base stations, oddly enough the MacBook Air would scream but the iPad and iPhone worked in reverse and crawled. So Apple told me they should be extended. I just added the third in as extended.
Anwyay Shawn, potentially I might be running as expected which is odd in that I have never heard this from Apple. It's just all this trouble shooting to accomplish nothing.
Finally, other than the iMac, which I do work at 80% of the time, I wonder if having such a high performance internet service makes sense. I'm curious what your thoughts are on that. The service I have is:
     - Rogers Ultimate which does include a modem with WIFI
          - 150 mbs down 10 mbs up
          - unlimited bandwidth

What MacBook should I get? I want a MacBook this year and I know costs but nothing extremely expensive. I usually have 5 - 6 tabs open, listen to a lot of music, play disc games and occasionally photo edit and those sorts of things. But I don't know what MacBook to get because im not a computer savvy person plus there is a lot of choice so any help is greatly appreciated!

There is no answer to your question (that makes sense) since usage - even of the same applications - varies widely.
As a general thought, more memory is happiness. The screen size is a personal preference. Larger is nice, but I find my 13" screen is quite satisfactory.

other monitors have a response time of 5ms
i assumed this would mean fast action graphics would display better?
any thoughts?
(+ this is £120 on amazon - others are roughly £140 starting price)

is one better than the other?
i already have a hdmi connector... so am assuming i will be ok with this and not bother with dvi?
