HP Pavilion 500-326na Desktop PC

I'm looking to update my BIOS and when I've looked for my model etc I get three to choose from. How do I pick the correct one?

You're very welcome, Shaun.
I thought you meant that you had 3 different models of the 500-326 to choose from (which there are).
I do not feel the least bit comfortable answering your question.  A wrong BIOS update = a dead PC.
They don't make any sense to me.
I would agree with you in substance that 80.13 would be the latest version, but why does 80.08 have a later release date than 80.13?
Do you go from 80.04 to 80.08 (the safest choice)?
Is it safe to go from 80.04 to 80.13, or are there motherboards with a different BIOS version that go from say, 80.11 to 80.12 to 80.13?
Unfortunately, that I do not know.

  • HP Pavilion 500-018 Desktop PC DVD Drive not working

I have a HP Pavilion 500-018 Desktop PC with windows 8.1.  For some reason, the CD-ROM drive has stopped working.  When I put a disk in to install new software, it does not recognize that there is a disk in the drive.  I've tried updating the driver, etc.  Even in the file explorer, the drive does not show up.  About the only thing I can do it eject the disk.
Any help would be most appreciated.

  • Add a Second Hard Drive to a Pavilion 500-314 Desktop

I have just purchased a Pavilion 500-314 desktop and desire to add a second SATA hard drive from the computer it is replacing.  When I open the case I find four SATA connections but nowhere to physically mount the second hard drive.  The drive bay is large and basically empty with the included hard drive mounted to the drive bay cage.  There are no slots for additional drives.  When I called HP I was told this chassis supports only one drive even though it has four SATA connectors on the motherboard.  Is there an adapter that can be purchased to create additional slots or am I out of luck with additional internal drives?

    Hi,
Few weeks back, one user decided to go to a hardware store to buy brackets himself and problem solved. You may want to follow his method.

  • How can I replace a 5 in 1 memory card reader in a HP Pavilion 500-027c Desktop PC

I bought a refurbished HP Pavilion 500-027c Desktop PC computer from walmart 2 weeks ago... The 5-in-1 memory card reader does not work... the device manager says that it is working properly but when I put in a memory card nothing happens... The white light comes on indicating that the memory card has been inserted but the computer does not recognize that anything has been done... I would like to just replace the card reader itself... I see on hp support where it is possible to replace the memory card reader (front I/O), but I don't know where to purchase the actual card reader itself... I don't have any specs on the card reader either.... PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • CONNECTION OF SPEAKERS TO PAVILION 500 SERIES DESKTOP

Just bought first desktop PC a Pavilion 500-312ns desktop that came with a Pavilion 22xi  monitor and all seemed fine until i realised that  the monitor has no speakers or  any options to do so .So my question is  how can i connect speakers to the desktop ?. Can i use cabled speakers  or would  Bluetooth or wireless be the better option ?.
Now i understand that to some of you this may seem like a stupid question to  ask but i would appreciate any help or advice i receive .

    Hi,
    It does not have Bluetooth.
    (a) You can connect speakers using connectors at the back:
    Рис. 7: Back I/O ports
    1 - USB 2.0: 2
    2 - S/PDIF
    3 - VGA
    4 - DVI-D
    5 - LAN
    6 - USB 2.0: 2
    7 - USB 3.0: 2
    8 - Audio: Center/Subwoofer port (yellow orange)
9 - Audio: Rear Speaker Out port (black)
10 - Audio: Side Speaker Out port (gray)
11 - Audio: Line In port (light blue)
12 - Audio: Line Out port (lime)
13 - Audio: Microphone port (pink)
    (b) Or you can connect using Bluetooth but you need to buy a Bluetooth USB dongle & your speaker MUST support BT:

Updated: By the way, you still need more hardware to connect to speakers on the monitor because your computer does not have HDMI port.

  • HP Pavilion 500-336 Desktop PC not recognizing NVidia GeForce GT610 graphics card

I recently purchased a HP Pavilion 500-336 Desktop PC and I already had a EVGA NVDIA GeForce GT610 graphics card.  When I try and install the graphicas card, I get the 6 beeps. So, I googled the problem and somebody had suggested to disable hyperthreading in the BIOS and go to legacy mode from UEFI mode which I did as well.
However, my monitor still doesn't turn on and goes to power saving mode. Please help. The customer service rep said the power supply needs to be upgraded, but I don't think this is true. This graphics card is not that power hungry.
Here are the specifications of my desktop: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c04345595
And here are the specifications of my video card: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-610/specifications
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi:
You do not disable hyperthreading in the BIOS.  I recommend you go back and enable that setting.
Please see this document for what settings you need to change in the BIOS when you install a non-HP video card...

  • Upgrading graphics card for Pavilion 500-314 Desktop PC

I am looking to upgrade the graphics card in my HP Pavilion 500-314 Desktop PC. I was looking around and saw some forums that said it would be very difficult to do so with this PC and I have found a few that said it is absolutly possible. Unforunatly none of those forum posts were from this site except one that did not give much explanation, so I figured I would just ask.
The graphics card that comes with this PC is decent enough to run most current games, just not at the level I would prefer. I am not looking for the most cutting edge ultra mega super gamer graphics card, just something this PC can handle that would be an upgrade with 2GB dedicated vram.
Thank you in advance for any help you guys can give me!
PS This will be my first upgrade I have ever done on a PC myself outside of the ram on this same PC, so please try to keep that in mind with any explanation/answer .

Your system has UEFI BIOS, so you'll need to understand Secure Boot. Then read this to change settings.   For gaming, I would go here, and do the "Can I Run It" quiz.  Would recommend a Corsair 600W PSU.

  • USB CARD READER FOR HP PAVILION 500-C60 DESKTOP?

I have a new HP Pavilion 500-C60 desktop computer, but the front panel card reader does not accept the larger Compact Flash (CF) flash card.  I do have an older USB multi-card reader with four differing card slots, one of which accepts the CF card.  Would this arrangement work satisfactorly?

    Hello @shamrock838,
I understand that your HP Pavilion 500-c60 Desktop PC does not support the larger Compact Flash Memory Card and you are inquiring as to whether or not you can install a USB multi-card reader that accepts the CF Memory Card. First, you are correct the 7-in1 Multimedia Card Reader you do have installed does not support the CF Memory Card, but it does support the following cards:
    Secure Digital™ (SD)
    Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC)
    SDXC
    Memory Stick
    Memory Stick Select
    Memory Stick PRO
    Memory Stick MagicGate
I do not see why you cannot connect the 4-in1 USB multi-card reader that you have. As long as the operating system detects it and installs it you should be fine.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Suddenly no sound coming from HP Pavilion 500-339 Desktop

I've had this computer less than a month without any issues. From a couple days ago there is no sound coming from any source (various speakers, headphone jack directly into computer).
I have checked everything, i.e., checked all the external cables, used the Windows diagnostics and checked all sound devices, volume settings, checked for mute etc. No issues have been detected with the audio hardware and drivers.
I've also done a system restore, removed recent Windows updates (within the week), uninstalled and reinstalled the IDT high-def audio drivers and still nothing.  Every time I do a diagnostic it says the audio is working properly yet no sound comes out for anything.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello @Brian13,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your audio on your HP Pavilion 500-339 Desktop PC is not working. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8), which you can use to restore your computer back to a point in time where your sound worked correctly.
If the Microsoft System Restore does not resolve your sound issue I would like you to use the HP Support document: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8) to put the original audio driver back in your computer. As this is the driver that came with your computer it should work correctly.
If the above steps do not fix your sound issue I think we should try a backup and recovery of your computer. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.

  • Drivers For Pavilion 500-038d Desktop

Recently I got this computer Pavilion 500-038d and it in windows 8
and then I downgrade it into windows 7 without checking the webs whether it suit for it or not
now Im stuck in windows 7 (64 bits) and I got problem with the drivers
i mean i dont have any drivers at all
    can anyone help me?
I appreciate any help from anyone..
    Sorry for the broken english.
    Thanks!

    Hi:
It looks like you can use the W7 x64 drivers and software from the below model which has the same motherboard as yours.
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-p7-1300-Desktop-PC-series/5258500/model/5197677/driv...
You would use the nVidia graphics drivers because your model has a nVidia graphics card.
The only driver that I think won't work is the wireless card drivers there.  You need the driver for an atheros wireless card according to the picture on your PC's support page.
So, see if this Atheros wireless card driver works...

  • Connecting 5.1 speakers to pavilion 500-366na desktop

Have pavilion 500-366na where spec says 5.1 spec supported. However, only 1 sound out (excluding headphones) and 5.1 has 3 jacks for the 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer. Can this PC really support genuine 5.1?

Good morning, did you install a sound card or are you using the onboard sound that came with your system?
Did your speakers 5.1 system come with instrutions showing how to plug into the back of your pc?
    What brand/model are the speakers?
It's very likely just a minor issue, I recently bought at half price the Logitech Z906 system that came with 3 plugs. It showed where each plug should go at the back of the HP pc I have.
Using pc's since 82. First pc bought 1988. Every day I'm still learning new things about computing.

  • Trying to install an SSD in a Pavilion 500-424 desktop

I am very disappointed that I just bought this desktop last month and I open it up to find no power supply,  no extra power cords for installing an SSD and only 2 SATA ports on the motherboard.
Does anyone know if I have any options ( other than buying another computer that's upgradable )?

    Hi,
You have purchased a low end, low power model PC that is not intended for upgrades other than more memory and a different hard drive. Your power is the 65 watt external power adapter and hence the reason why there is no internal power supply.
Create the external HP recovery media on USB flash (not optical).
Remove the optical drive and either buy an external optical drive or use an adapter. Not many people use optical drives these days.
Mount the SSD in the drive bay using a 5.25" to 2.5" adapter.
Another option is to return the SSD and exchange it for a hybrid hard drive.

    Ngutman,
    Function keys-
F1-F4, look like they have to do with the video. F5-F8 are your standard media controls (rewind, fast forward stop and play). F9 is search F10 is the share button F11 is for devices, F12 is for settings.
The key between the ALT and CTRL , I can't make out the symbol on it. Same with key next to print screen.
The 4 keys above the number pad I know the far right one is the sleep mode key. The other 3 I can't make out the symbol.
Unfortunately because there isn’t much/ very little information on the keyboard it will be a trial and error basis when it comes to checking it. Sorry I wasn’t much help but the graph that I see is very blurry and hard to make out specific symbols on each key.
