Hp pavilion a6400f no video

I lend my desktop for 5 months, and now I have no video on the monitor, anyone can give me any suggestions what I should do. Thanks

Hi:
In the Shakesperian play Hamlet, Polonius says "Neither a borrower nor a lender be, for loan oft loses both itself and friend,..."
If you are sure that the PC is working fine, but just the video is not working, and you know the monitor is OK, the least expensive and easiest thing to do, would be to try adding a video card to the PC to see if that resoves the problem.
A suitable card for your PC would be the nVidia GT 610
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130815
or an AMD Radeon HD 6450.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102933
These cards have a maximum wattage need of less than 30 Watts, and should be OK with the power supply in your PC.

If it is a thunderbolt version of the apple 27" display, you don't.  The TB displays can only work with a TB source.
I also think you are out of luck with the mini-displayport versions of the apple 27" as well.   This would imply converting an analog VGA output  to a digital input of the 27".  I suspect that there is not enough data supplied by VGA for that to work and I do not believe any adapters exist for this.

  • PAVILION DV7 DISTORTED VIDEO ON SCREEN

Hi, everyone, this is my first session on this thing.
I wonder if anyone has the same problem with a Laptop Pavilion dv7,  while going through a switch-on, the screen is all distorted, you can-not make anything out.  At the beginning the distortion lasted for a minute or so and then I got good vision on the screen but now, just very bad distortion all of the time.  It looks like a chip has fried, or something like that.
It's a pitty, as the laptop looks very nice but it did cost about £800 about four years ago.  Is this a stock fault with the HP range?
I hope someone can answer the question for me, many thanks.

    Hi,
Problem could be related to display cable or could be graphics card related also. The best way to find out is by Connecting an external display like a Desktop monitor or high definition tv to the laptop and press Fn+F4.
Check the instructions from the link below to connect and external display and let me know the results..

Similar problems can occur in any type of laptops after 4 years to usage. Life of any notebook is between 3-4 years irrespective of the brand. Experiencing hardware problems after that is quite common . Though you might still come across few lucky ones that goes on for 7-8 years also but those are rarely able to compete with the newer technologies and applications.
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

  • Pavilion a6057c dual video

I installed a pci video card and the computer defaulted to the new card. I went into bios and changed the video setting to default to the onboard video. The computer will not recognize the pci video card. When I go into the device manager is says the video cannot start (code 10). Is there a way to get both onboard and pci video card to work together so I can have two monitors?

    From your HP Pavilion Media Center TV a6057c Desktop Computer's specs page;
Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.
Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 950
Also supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards
Many PCIe graphics cards support the use of two monitors at the same time. Please provide the brand and complete model number of the graphics card you purchased. Also provide the brand and complete model number of the monitors you wish to use with your computer.

  • HP Pavilion a6242n - No video on new hd 5450 graphics card.

I just bought a new Asus HD 5450 video card and installed it.  I plugged in my vga monitor cable and no video.  I can hear the hard drive churning and hear the welcome screen sounds so it's booting to desktop.
I put video card in my other PC and it is working fine.  I reconnect to integrated video on this HP and it works fine.
I reinstall video card and still nothing.  Does HP require a proprietary HP video card?
    Things I've tried so far:
    reset BIOS/power.
Tried my XFX HD 4350 video card.
Changed BIOS to boot from PCIe and Auto.  Both fail.
I connect integrated video and 5450 at same time to monitors and integrated works and no drivers installed for 5450 and nothing shows up for 5450 in device manager or windows update.
    Is x16 PCIe slot broken?
    Any other ideas?

    Hi Mark,
Some of the older HP PCs don't like AMD 5xxx video cards.  There have been posts on this forum where the AMD 5xxx  failed to work in older HP PCs.  The ASUS 5450 is a PCI-E version 2.1 card and it may not be compatible with the PCI-E x1 slot in your PC.
Try a NVIDIA video card that is matched to the power supply size in your PC.  Typically the lower end retail AMD video cards indicate a 400 watt power supply and the retail NVIDIA video cards indicate a 300 watt power supply as a minimum.

  • Pavilion dv7t-4000 video card issue & battery icon shows no power cord yet it is plugged in!

Ok, so I have this witerd issue on a 4 year old laptop that has been a great solid laptop.  However, I've been using it as a desktop with two external monitors atteched (It has VGA and HDMI ports).  In this configuration, the laptop screen itself is blank after windows has loaded. and I have an extended desktop across two external monitors and this had been working great for years.
Ok, now to the problem - a couple of days ago, I started it and only one monitor came on along with the laptop monitor and I was running in duplicate mode on the monitors instead of extended desktop.  The thing I noticed was that  the power icon showed on battery, yet I was plugged in and charging (The charge % was increasing).  At the same time, the graphics properties on the desktop was bringing up Intel graphics instead of my ATI Catalyst.  I shut down and restarted and it came back fine with the power cord showing and ATI running my graphics again; however, when I started today , the same condition occurred.
The other problem associated with this, is if I let it sleep now, upon waking, the laptop wakes up but the monitors do NOT come online and I cant get them to come online in this situation.  I tried unpluggiung and reconnecting but nothing on the ext monitors or the laptop screen.  I do hear a sound indicating windows plug and play has detected the cable being pulled and reconnected but no image .  I eventually had to do a hard power off and restart.
I'd appreciate any help.  This just started in the last week so maybe its a SW issue?  I could roll back to my system restore point from a week ago and see if that fixes it - but maybe its a hardware issue?  Im not sure where to start and would appreciate any insights!  Since then, Ive installed an upgrade to Dashlane PW manager but thats the only SW change.  Thanks in advance...

    HI @KeithAusTX ,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to assist you!
I see that when connected to AC power it shows charging % and is increasing but you are using the Intel graphics.  You did a restart and then the ATI graphics running as usual.   This has happened on more then one occasion.  Your notebook display does not come on when the notebook wakes from sleep.
To start with would you visual inspect the power connection to the notebook and look for any damaged or bent pins.
I would then test and calibrate the battery.
    Battery information center
Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter
If the issue remains, I would delete the graphics drivers and reinstall the drivers Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7).
Once that step is completed, run the HP Support Assistant  to get any HP updates.
As you mentioned you could do a restore back to when it was working.
The final option would be to do a factory recovery.  The following document has multiple links within to help with doing a restore, recovery and backup.
System Recovery / Backup / Restore
You may also wish to test the hardware for failures just to rule that out. Testing for Hardware Problems Using Hardware Diagnostic Tools (Windows 7)

  • Playing video in iTunes on laptop running Windows Vista

I recently changed my computer. I now have an HP Pavilion running windows Vista (use to have XP). I have a video iPod -30GB. I downloaded iTunes onto the new equipment without incident, but that is the last thing that went smoothly.
I can no longer watch TV shows or movies from iTunes. The video plays like a slide show of stills (the audio is real-time however). Eventually I will get an error message from Windows and it closes the application.
I am also having issues with syncing my iPod and computer. I get a message requiring me to delete all of the content of the iPod and replace it with the contents of iTunes.I haven't done this -no trust and no backup
This message is from iTunes. I suspect it is a security feature to prevent downloading to more than one iPod, as iTunes doesn't seem to 'know' my iPod anymore. Syncing has also caused iTunes to close and my computer to reboot. Has anyone else had these problems?
Any suggestions ... short of throwing the Windows computer out of a window?

  • SD Reader Stopped Working

I have a Pavilion a6400f running on Vista. The SD Reader suddenly stopped working. It's been working from Day 1 until now. I plug a 1G SD card into the slot. The green light comes on but nothing happens. I've reinstalled the reader drivers and rebooted but that doesn't help. I have a memory stick and the memory stick reader works when I plug the stick into it. Is this a herdware issue with the SD reader? Does anyone have a solution or do I need to get a USB SD card reader?

I suggest you wipe the phone and start as new and use your own apple id to redownload your apps.

  • Video Card and PSU upgrade for HP pavilion p6310y?

    Hello,
I am a mild gamer and I would like to upgrade my video card so I could play games like minecraft and maplestory without my frame rate dropping every 5-10 min.  When this happens it sounds like the fan in my computer is working really hard and the game is almost unplayable.  I also play a few games from steam such as Gmod and Borderlands, however the games that seem less graphic intensive give me more problems.
Should I and am I able to upgrade the video card and psu for this HP pavilion p6310y?  or possibly get a better card for these game without upgrading psu?

    Hi,
Yuo might try updating the video driver from the NVIDIA web site.
Your PC has a 300 watt power supply.  If you don't need DirectX 11 (used for better detail in newer games), then the NVIDIA GT 240 1GB or 512 MB DDR5 is about tops for a 300 watt power supply.

  • Another video card/PSU upgrade for HP Pavilion p6565uk

    Hi there
I want to upgrade from the basic Nvidia card and 300W psu provided with my HP Pavilion P6565UK, purchased a few months ago.
I am looking at either a Corsair CX 600W or an Antec HCG-750W, I am not sure if there is a difference, and an EVGA Nvidia superclocked GTX550Ti card.
I am however really not technically minded and I am not sure how to go about making sure that these products will be suitable before I purchase them.
    I have 3D gaming in mind (I have a 120hz screen) as I am a Warcraft player.
Hope someone can help point me in the right direction or hold my hand as I am hopeless with stuff like this!

    Hi,
You might have issues getting the Antec HCG-750W to fit.  Do some measuring and see it will fit, particularly the distance between the power supply and the optical drive.  I have see where PSUs of 750 and greater have failed to work in some HP PC's.
Go with the Corsair CX600 or the CX500.
I noticed that EVGA has lowered the PSU requirements for some video cards.  Look at this information for the 550 TI superclocked.

  • Graphics/Video Card [REPLACEMENT / UPGRADE] on HP Pavilion Desktop - Help

    I have the following:
    HP Pavilion Elite m9152p Desktop
Upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (upgraded 11-2009)
The video card seems to have gone out and I have tried the following:
    Reinstalling Operating system
Uninstalled & Reinstalled & Rollback drivers
Prior to the above attempts, no changes had been made to software or hardware only leading to the same result: The video seems to be fine and then it freezes and crashes and ultimately has to have a hard-restart at which point, the computer loads the onboard video/graphics.
I need to purchase a replacement video/graphics card, but I am unsure what specs I need to be aware of or what my computer can handle as far as a replacement and maybe a possible upgrade (not necessary) - any help in this regard would be most appreciated.
    Thanks!

I think it is a good choice.
The reviews seem positive for the most part including that the fan appears to be quiet.
I don't know if your previous card had HDMI.
When you install your new video card, it may disable your onboard audio due to the HDMI audio chip on the video card.
If you do lose your onboard audio, after you install the video drivers, reboot the machine, go into the BIOS, find the onboard audio setting. It may be set to Auto or Disabled. Change the setting to Enabled. Save the setting where you made the change and again when you exit the BIOS.
Upon reboot you will have your onboard audio back.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
