HP Pavilion A6528 P Error Code: Bio HD - 3 "No bootable drives detected."

Hi,
I initially had a Bio HD - 2 error message, the computer would not boot.  So after unplugging and replugging the Sata cables and  running the diagnostic test I concluded that the hard drive may be shot and since I do not have another computer with a sata interface to test the hard drive, I purchased a new HD (Western Digital with the exact same specs) and installed it. After the installation the computer still would not boot ,so I ran the diagnostic again and apparently the HD was recognized and passed but now I have a new error message stating that while testing: boot path,   the error states  Error code: Bio HD - 3  "No bootable drives detected."I searched the board and could not find the definition for this error code.
Please advise.
Thanks

Try this procedure:
Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any. Then clear the CMOS. Plug your PC back in a give it a go.  You might consider trying to use a different motherboard sata port for your hard drive.
Unplug all external devices other than the mouse, keyboard and monitor.

  • Pavilion A6430f recovery error code

    Hi,
I have a Pavilion a6430f desk top and I just replaced both hard drives on it. I inserted my recovery disk and began the recovery process when I received an error code of 0x400 100 130000 1002 as the hard drives were just beginning the reformatting of the Windows partition of the hard drive. I checked to make sure the hard drives were installed properly and it appears they are installed correctly. I have not been able to find any information online on how to solve this issue. Any suggestions for solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I think you have a bad hard drive, it needs to be replaced.
Did you make the HP recovery discs when you got the PC?
If not you will need to order a set, then replace the hard drive and use the recovery set to install the Operating System.
You can order recovery media here if you do not have them

I get the subject error code when trying to recover using either internal recovery or external DVD recovery disks.  Will not boot - have tried replaing all memory, and new HD.  (Do I have a motherboard or processor issue?  The error code goes on to state "The instruction @ 0x74a005ef referenced at 0x00000114. The memory could not be read."  (Do I have a bad motherboard or processor?  Troubleshooting indicates it's not memory chips nor HD. )

    Hello,
This issue is with the recovery media on the HDD or the DVD media, some of the files may have become corrupt.
Is the recovery DVD you are using burnt from the system? if so you may want to try burning at a lower speed.
Also if you do not have a OEM version of the recover media you can order a set from HP.

  • Error Code 10 (Device manager) NI-CAN driver 2.5.2

    Hi,
I am using the PCMCIA-CAN/2 series 2 card to communicate with an Aerovironment ABC150 charger and get the Error Code 10 in the device manager when I tried to install the driver.
    Windows XP
    Dell Latitude D520
    Driver version 2.5.2
Previously the system had worked fine until we installed a USB 3G GSM modem. The Max software no longer recognised the CAN card. Since, I have installed the 2.5.2 version of the software and reinstalled XP on the machine. I have checked for IRQ conflicts and eventually removed the USB GSM software and hardware. After reinstalling XP, I tried to install the driver without installing the USB modem. I have downloaded the patch as for 2.3 versions and before.
When installing the driver from the 'Found new hardware wizard' I was not able to point at the system32/drivers location for the nicanpkw.sys file as it reported that there was no compatible software, nor by looking at any of the other locations. Instead I had to manually select it form the list of available drivers.
It is possible the Dell has been damaged as the original PCMCIA GSM card stopped working after the machine was knocked. I have tried other PCMCIA GSM cards and they work fine. I have also tried to use the PCMCIA-CAN2 (s2) card in another machine and that works also.
    Thanks in advance,
    Cam

    Hi,
I have seen such wiered things when i had the legacy USB support enabled on a DELL notebook. Try to find this property in your BIOS and disable it and besides check wether or not your BIOS has a configuration property for PCMCIA/cardbus and try to enable pcmcia support (16 bit). Thats because the CAN board needs his own IRQ and cannot share interrupts like other cardbus compatible devices can.
Let us know if that helps.

  • Error Code -36 While Writing to External Drive

I have a 2.16GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro with the 100GB 7200 RPM HDD and 1GB 667 RAM. I am trying to use my MBP with a Western Digital 250GB MyBook Essential external HDD connected via USB 2.0.
The external HDD used to be formatted with FAT32 (I was unaware) and I could read and write small files to the drive with no problem. However, when I tried to copy my iTunes folder to the drive (21.7 GB) I would always get an error soon after the transfer began. The error message reads:
The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "08 Bottle of Blues.mp3" could not be read or written. (Error Code -36).
The message will always come up on the same file. If I delete the file mentioned in the error message, the error will still come up after about the same amount of time has elapsed, but just on a different file.
Recently, I learned that the external drive was FAT32 so I formatted it with Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I still get the same error.
I have tried using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.0b5 and SuperDuper! 2.1.4 and neither application can complete the transfer--using the Mac OS Extended file system. CCC gives me the error:
15:45:02 Error: asr: could not copy /./Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor.app/Contents/Resources/no.lproj/ScriptEditorHelp/gfx/sedebug.jpg; Input/output error
    15:45:02
    15:45:02
15:45:05 ccc.sh: The restore operation failed, Error code: 98
    SuperDuper! gives me the error:
    | 04:00:49 PM | Error | ditto: /Users/caseyhancock/.Trash/Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive/Office/Fonts/./MS Mincho.ttf: Input/output error
AppleCare support hasn't been able to help me, and I feel like I've searched exhaustively for information about Error Code -36. If anyone could shed some light on my problem and help me backup/copy files to this external HDD I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

In my experience, it was a BAD EXTERNAL DRIVE...
sometimes they are bad (and the one I had was a external USB 120 GB Western Digital) due to fall, or something, and you can format and they work, but they have a place on the disk that is just bad, and freezes the external disk, and it is unable to accept commands.
A way of testing this, is to write to the entire disk..
Doing this will kill the entire drive, but will allow you to verify that you can write to the whole drive... (in addition to erasing everything on it.. )
make sure the disk is mounted in the finder.. and give it a uniqe name... so it will be easy to distinguish in the commands below.
THE FOLLOWING IS INTENDED AS A GUIDE. VERIFY YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING BEFORE YOU DESTROY VALUABLE DATA..
    open the terminal program:
    type the following:
    df -h
you should see all the disks that the are connected to the system. a sample of the output is below:
it does not look so nice, as the font is not monospaced, but on the terminal window it lines up nicely:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
    /dev/disk0s2 186G 124G 62G 67% /
    devfs 97K 97K 0B 100% /dev
    fdesc 1.0K 1.0K 0B 100% /dev
    <volfs> 512K 512K 0B 100% /.vol
    automount -nsl [182] 0B 0B 0B 100% /Network
    automount -fstab [198] 0B 0B 0B 100% /automount/Servers
    automount -static [198] 0B 0B 0B 100% /automount/static
    /dev/disk1s1 466G 463G 2.4G 99% /Volumes/wd-usb-250
in my case the last disk is a WD mybook that I called "wd-usb-250"
now, in the finder, unmount the disk and make sure nothing is accessing it...
notice that the computer thinks that the disk is connected via the path:
    /dev/disk1s1
VERIFY THAT THIS IS THE SAME FOR YOU.. IF NOT THEN USE THE APPROPRIATE DRIVE..
this next step will go and write zero's to the whole drive.. if you are not so adventures you could just read from the entire disk.. if there are major problems then the read will not work either.
SO: to write in the terminal do the following: THIS WILL KILL THE DISK YOU ARE TESTING... INSURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING...
NOTICE HOW IN THE COMMAND BELOW I HAVE /DEV/DISK1 NOT /DEV/DISK1S1.
    TRUNCATE YOUR DEVICE ACCORDINGLY...
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/disk1 bs=16m
let it run till it either quits because of a i/o error or says it reached the end of the device.. if it reached the end of the device the device just had zero written to it..
it at the end will tell you how many 16Mb chunks of zero it wrote.. (this is assuming that your disk is a even multiple of 16Mb).
now to test that the device actually works, we can read the whole thing. by issuing the following command in the terminal.
    dd if=/dev/disk1 | hexdump -C
you should get an output that looks like this (with the records being changed to be the size of your disk divided into 16 Mb chunks...:
    00000000 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 |................|

  • Error code 36 (problems with external hard drive)

I have just upgraded to Yosemite and am now having major problem with my external western digital hard drive.  I cannot create new folders and when I hit command N I get error code 36.  I also cannot move files from one folder to the next.  When I try to move them I get the error message: "The operation cannot be completed because a file of that name already exists" and that simply isn't true.  None of the files' names exist in the other folder.

Ok, It appears to be the fault of Western Digital.  I ejected the hard drive and then plugged it back in and it said that the drive was broken but I could still read the files and it told me to save the files on another disk and reformat.  So it was just a coincidence that I upgraded to Yosemite at the same time that my external hard drive broke.

  • Error Code -36 Returned by core audio driver-Please help!!!!

8:03 into my new song and all of a sudden I get a pop up that says "error code -36 was returned by the core audio driver" I click it off and the track continues to play looping 3 seconds of the same thing over and over again as the track continues over what should be correctly playing.
This is in garageband 08' on an up to date G5 intel with plenty of space and NO locked tracks. I also ran disk utility and nothing has helped.
Any idea what is happening and how to save my song?
    Thanks for any help!

  • Error Code -39 Was Returned By CoreAudio Driver

Here's the setup: I was recording using my iBook G4 using 10.4.6 and the latest version of GarageBand in iLife 06. I was recording using a mic hooked up to my computer using an iMic. All looked fine when I first hooked it up. I was getting audio out of it, it sounded good, it sounded clear, life was great. So, at the start of our rehearsal, I hit record and let it go. Towards the end of our first half, I noticed that it stopped recording because it hit the 1999 measure mark (as expected). So, during our break, I went back to go fudge with it for the second half. But, this is when the problems started. First, when I went back to measure 1996 to just hear the last few measures to hear where it stopped, I got silence and then a dialog box saying "error code -39 was returned by the coreaudio driver." When I went to the beginning of the project, it seemed fine. As I skipped along, it seemed fine. But, later on in the project, I'd still get that same -39 error message. When I finally found the point of failure, I heard audio, and then heard a loud piece of static for the equivalent of two measures, and then got this error message. Throughout this entire time, nothing changed. The computer just sat, no one (including me) touched the machine. It just recorded. Is there a reason why it would have just done this randomly? Is there any explanation to this code? To top it off, the iMic stopped recording. I couldn't get it to record again. For some reason, all works now, but why it stopped working last night, I don't know. But, if anyone knows why this happened, what I might be able to do to prevent it, and any additional info, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks!!!

I can't tell you the Whats or Whys, I'm afraid B-(>
Here is something you can try. I don't usually recommend this method of attack, but if the recording was important and the .band file is corrupt, it's worth a try.
Ctrl-click the .band file and choose Show Package Contents. Open the Media folder, your recording should be in there. Option-Drag it to someplace else on your hard drive and try opening that file with QuickTime Player. See if Player can play it all the way through.
I wouldn't get my hopes TOO high, but it's worth a try. --Hang

Hi, I have an error massage on boot path testing and says no drive detected. The error code is BIOHD-2. My dard drive and everthying is OK but somehow unable to boot. please help.

    Hello ayaansharif:

Check your warranty status your computer maybe still under warranty. You can go to your computer's HP web page and  click on manual go down your computers parts list and find what hard drive it uses then go to HP's computers parts ordering page and order one. If under warranty just contact HP Direct Support and they will ship you a new hard drive. They are not to difficult to install. Just time consumming removing the little screws. You may need to order a set of recovery disk from HP as well. Because HP's recovery disk include the operating system disks. Please click on Kudos if this resolves your issue. Thank you frrw.

  • Error Code Bio HD - 2

    HP Pavillion PC model A6528P
The computer will not boot. The error message basically states that it does not recognize the hard drive. I ran a diagnostic which instructed me to verify that the drive cables were securely attached. I opened the computer and detached the cables (power and mobo) from the hard drive as well as the motherboard connection and re-attached  them, but when I tried to reboot I got the same error message. Is there anything else I can do? Please help.
    Thanks

    Dear Chris,
I took your advise and plugged the HD SATA plug into the adjacent  SATA port on the same motherboard but had the same results. My plan now is to remove the HD from my computer and take it to the IT dept. at my wife's work and have them connect it to a working computer to see if it will work there. If the HD works on the other computer than I would suspect the problem maybe with the motherboard. I would perform the test using my Dell but it doesn't use a SATA interface.
BTW how can you test the HD SATA port to see if it is bad and can the port be replaced if necessary? In addition, given as there are no moving parts in the SATA port how does that go bad if I never removed the plug until this incident?
Note: I don't know if the following is of any significance but the SATA plugs were/are difficult to unplug, even if I press down on the little plastic clip on the side. The fit is very snug and one needs to apply some pressure/force to unplug it. Plugging it in though is pretty much a snap.
I will keep you informed of the results.
    Thanks for your suggestions.
    Sincerely,
    Henry

  • Error Code 39 returned by core audio driver

Any idea what this is, it doesn't give me any other information. It comes within 2 seconds of playing my audio. I have a lot of stuff on there, but I also have a Big powerful Mac G5. I increased the buffer size, that didn't do anything. It doesn't crash, just won't let me do anything until I press continue, then comes up 2 seconds later.

I have had the same happen to me. I did a search on the forum and the best I could find is that it isn't really listed anywhere what it means.
I think it means that Core Audio needs to catch up. When this happens to me, I just hit return so that it starts playing again from the beginning.
I have to ask, do you have a million (exaggeration) little regions in your Arrange window? Logic doesn't handle all those tiny pieces that well, so if you do you might consider making them into one big region to ease the load on Logic....
Hope that helps, and welcome to the forum.

    Hi WayneB1,
You are correct that you will need to contact HP and get a set of recovery discs. Once you have those you will need to replace your hard drive. In Big_Dave's second post there is a link on how to replace a hard drive. The link below will help you order recovery discs.
