  • HP Pavilion 500-424 Graphics cards options

I recently bought a HP Pavilion 500-424 and was interested in upgrading the graphics card for gaming purposes and wanted to know which graphics cards are compatible before I purchase a graphics card that doesnt fit or is not able to be used with my computer.

    Hi,
    No, nothing is compatible because
    (a)  No video card, it is AMD graphics (combined with the processor),
    (b)  Processor socket: None (processor is soldered to the motherboard)
       http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04453602
That means if you wish to upgrade video "card" you have to upgrade CPU and if you wish to upgrade CPU you have to upgrade motherboard ===>  buy a new machine.
    Regards.

  • HP Pavilion 500-141ea Graphics Card Upgrade

Hey I've treid searching everywhere but I've not found anything on how to improve the graphics card for this computer, can someone tell me or help me find what cards this computer supports? The one that it currently has is fairly bad so I'd be happy to hear most if not all suggestions. (first post btw).

It's cheap because it is old. That is the "4" series with DDR3 memory 512 megs. In the day it was a very good card and will perform as you wish. It does need a 6 pin power supply lead so you need a new power supply. It also awfully long to fit in the space you have to hold it.

  • Hp pavillion 500-185el graphic card problems after update to windows 8.1

    Hey @jdudleyjones ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the card reader for your notebook is no longer working after updating to Windows 8.1.
You're probably right that it's a driver issue, however just like you I don't know which card reader you're using either.
Can you please tell me which notebook you have? For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
It would also help if you could tell me the Hardware ID for the card reader. Here's how you find it:
    Press Windows Key + X
    Click Device Manager
Click View at the top and select Show hidden devices.
You will most likely find the card reader listed under Other devices as an Unknown device.
Right click on it and select Properties.
    Select the Details tab.
Change the drop down menu to Hardware Ids.
Note down the first ID in the list (as you'll see they're all pretty much the same regarding the Ven_ and Dev_ numbers which is all I need).
Once you've provided this info I should be able to find the drivers for you.
Look forward to hearing back from you!

Yes, that is what is supposed to happen.
Your notebook has dynamic graphics adapters.
On notebooks with dynamic graphics adapters, you can't go into the BIOS and set the R7 adapter as the default, like you can on notebooks with fixed graphics.
The notebook will decide what GPU to use based on the demand placed on the graphics processor(s).
There haven't been any consumer notebooks made in several years that have the fixed graphics type of setup.

  • HP pavilion 17 problems switching amd graphics card

HP pavilion 17 with AMD radeon 8670M
I tried to switch from intel graphics card to AMD graphics card, at the switchable graphics menu.
Switched to high performance at some games, but I still can't run the game at high settings, and even low settings are too high, the game is still a bit slow .  I have searched for some solutions, like changing the card in the BIOS, but the setting to change cards, wasn't in the BIOS. Nothing helped, and after a year i still don't have a solution to this problem...
Does anyone knows a solution to this, what am I doing wrong?

  • Hp pavilion 15-p00nx Problem with graphics cards in Windows 8.1

I just bought an Hp pavillion 15-p005nx , as i run any game i have a massage that my graphic card is low , but the graphic card is NVIDA Geforce 840M and Intel HD graphic family but the games see only the intel video card what should i do ?? !!

    Hello @MeZoOo
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
It appears that your trying to play games on your notebook and would like it to run off the Nvidia graphics. I will try to assist with this.
The easiest way to achieve this is by going into Device Manager, clicking the "+" next to display adapters and disabling the Intel. Restart the notebook, this will force the Nvidia adapter to be the primary. This would mean the notebook no longer runs the Intel, which eliminates switchable graphics. If you've bought the notebook to "game" on, then I'd recommend this.
The other option that may work, is using the HP Support Assistant to make sure the drivers are up to date, even though just bought it the drivers installed may not be the newest, this can effect performance.
I hope this is able to help you.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6070ca recovered no graphic card driver?

    Hello,
I had my hard drive tank on me and replaced it recently.  I re-installed windows with my backup DVD but once it came online I found that not a single driver installed on the computer.  That wasn't a huge deal as I went on to the website and download all of them via a different computer so now all is working EXCEPT my AMD graphic which should be:
    Radeon™ HD 6770M Graphics with 1024MB GDDR5 and up to 4837MB
    total graphics memory
I have tried to uninstall the driver and reinstall it but I keep getting an error message...which I can't seem to replicate at the moment to copy into this post but it has something to do with my driver not being up-to-date which I think is a Catch22 since I'm trying to install it period.
Can anyone suggest another idea?  I'm still trying to do some additional attempts...one is to find that exact graphic card on AMDs site and see if I can find a driver more successfully.

It is really odd that using your Recovery Discs did not install the drivers. Normally a recovery puts everything back just as shipped. Maybe your set is incomplete or something. You can order Recovery Media for around $16. The option to order is in your drivers/software list.

  • HP pavilion 500-164 graphics card

I have found a GPU that I feel would fit the hp pavilion 500-164 considering it does not need an external power connecter. I just don't know for sure if it would fit or get sufficient  power as it needs a 300 watt or greater power supply.

    Hi,
These HP How-to articles should be helpful.
The NVIDIA 750 is a double wide card you you will need to insert a flat bladed screw driver in the adjacent back panel PCI slot and wiggle it back and forth until it comes free then use a pliers if necessary to finally remove the blank slot panel.

    Hi,
One of the below MSI NVIDIA GTX 750 models should work.
MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF  The "TI" model might be slightly better at gaming.
If you can't find the exact models are NewEgg then try Tiger Direct, Amazon or google.

  • Have an HP Pavilion DV7 with Radeon HD6490M Graphics Card. Photoshop doesn't recognize it.

Photoshop CC doesn't recognize my other video card, which is a Radeon HD6490M.  Can't utilize 3D tools.  Is there something wrong with this particular video card that won't allow it to be recognized?

Here's one idea although it is for a DV6.
First off, reboot and press F10 to go into your BIOS.
Switch the Graphics settings from "dynamic" to "fixed". This will ensure that your computer will not use the default Intel card. I'm not sure why, but it seems as though Rage kept using that card regardless of my settings in Windows.

  • New graphics card not working in old Pavilion elite

Hey, so i bought a new graphics card, ASUS strix 750ti oc ed., when i plug it in to my Pavilion elite hpe 531sc i get a blue screen with the hp logo and a text saying 'press esc for startup menu' or something like that. Pressing esc does nothing, pressing any other button does me nothing either.
I tried plugging in the old graphics card, it still sort of works except i cant really play games or get my resolution above 800x600, and install the drivers and all for the new graphics card. But the new graphics card still dont work when plugged back in.
So im at a loss here, is my desktop simply too old or something?

Seeing alot of postings about trying that card.  See this thread on a possible solution:

  • Pavilion dv7 graphic card

i know that some notebooks can change their graphic cards and some are not.
Is my laptop able to change graphic card?
    pavilion dv7

You would need to replace the entire motherboard to upgrade a graphics card in a dv7.
Certainly not worth the cost or labor.

  • Upgrading my graphics card - HP Pavilion p6300uk

    Hello,
I'm planning on upgrading my PC so i can play pretty much any game I want on it (I'm using a hp pavilion p6300uk). However most graphic cards I look at require about 400watts of power and the Pavilion p6300uk only has a power supply of 300watts. So I have 2 choices:
    1. Upgrade my power supply
    2. Find the best graphics card I can that only requires 300watts
Preferably I would like to upgrade my power supply but am unsure that my motherboard would support a higher power supply, the motherboard I'm using is the M2N68-LA (Narra6).
The graphics card I'm looking at getting is this one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11191-02-20G-6570-DDR3-Graphics/dp/tech-data/B004WYV8SI/ref=de_a_sm... -
If anyone could let me know if there are any other graphics cards out there that would be just as good as this one but that only requires 300watts of power or if I could uprade my power supply to 400watts without damaging my motherboard I would be extreamly greatful
    thanks

    Hi,
Open up your PC and read the label on the power supply.  What is the total amperage available on the +12 volt bus?
The NVIDIA GT 545 is rated to work with a 300 watt power supply (18 amps total on the +12 volt bus).
AMD recommends a 400 watt power supply for the 6570.   Interesting note is that the 6570 takes only 40-60 watts of power.
