Hp pavilion dv2500 laptop does not start -Pls help.

Hi,
I have HP Pavilion dv2500 laptop which I bought from US(before 3 years) and using in India.
It has Windows Vista installed on it.
It has been very frequent that the laptop does not start. Today my laptop started after 10 days or so.
It does not give any error when I press the start button. There is no change in the screen as well.
The CPU light blinks. The power light also blinks. But the HARD DISK light does NOT blink.
If I keep on hitting Escape/F10 key then sometime it may start.
Before two months my battery was giving some problems and it used to finish very early. So I had to always plugin power chord to use laptop. Then I started getting above problem. However I bought new battery. But then also the laptop start problem exists.
I called one of the guy and he says that I need to replace the motherboard which could cost around 8000 / 9000 INR(160/180USD)
Is it hardware problem? I am not sure if it's some other problem.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Try my hard reset method.
1) Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
2) Press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
3) Plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
4) Press the power button

[Solved]Laptop does not start (not even bios)

Hi all,
I was about to install archlinux on my laptop. When I generate partitions (I used GPT), I saw something like this:
"If you have a BIOS motherboard (or plan on booting in BIOS compatibility mode) and you want to setup GRUB on a GPT-partitioned drive, you will need to create an extra BIOS Boot Partition of size 1 or 2 MiB and EF02 type code. Syslinux does not need one."
So, I was planning to make this. When I run cgdisk, I was that lthere was a 1007kb unusued(?) space. So I thought I can use this space for boot sector. Then I changed its type to EF02. When I did this, my laptop shutted down quickly and does not start again. When I press the power up button; I hear the usual starting noise, and then it shuts down again.
What did I do to my laptop?
What I tried:
Remove battery, wait for 5 minutes, try again
Remove hdd, try again
Unplug&plug bios battery, try again
Edit: Solved with a shame. Wall-charger was unplugged. This topic can be removed.

Laptop does not start with a new hdd

I apologize for my English, I communicate through an interpreter.
on my laptop hard drive broke. exchange rate fell to a sad zero.
decided to replace with a new Seagate st320lm010, but encountered a problem:
with the new drive laptop refuses to run, although on a different model laptop this drive worked just fine.after starting the bottom of the screen displayed message "press the Esc for startup"
I need advice on how to fix it.

possible difficulties of translation ... I can not run the laptop with a new hard drive! generally. inclusion in the notebook is displayed inscription "Press the Esc for startup" and nothing else does not produce any action. he wont want to run or boot menu or bios

After updating bios laptop does not starts. it starts for 5 sec and goes off repeatedly

today morning i upodated bios from hp website, mp laptop model is hp pavilion dv4 5009tx, bt after updating it is not starting. it starts for 5 seconds and goes off, and this go on happening...
please suggest me what shall i do now.

Firefox will not start. Open profile manager. Delete old profile. Create new profile. Click start firefox. Firefox starts. Close firefox. Click start, "Mozilla Firefox", FireFox DOES NOT start. Help!?

Firefox will not start.
Run profilemanager and delete old profile - create new profile - click run firefox from profile manager and firefox opens.
Close firefox and try to reopen. Will not open. Follow above procedure again and foerefox opens until closed them will not open.

Thanks for your help. I had tried starting Firefox in safe-mode before I posted this request, but it did not work. I tried to restore the system to an earlier version, but that made everything worse. Two accounts were unusable and one sort of worked, so I reloaded the operating system and now firefox works, for how long, I don't know. But thanks again for your suggestion.

Laptop does not start after windows 8 update

hi every one
2 days ago my hp-15 notebook got 2 windows 8 updates. The 2nd one failed and after 1 hr i removed the battery to put it out of it's misery.
now, when i push the start button only the wifi-lichts go on for about 30 sec and then the system shuts down.
everything i tried has failed.
what to do next???

I understand that you got 2 Windows updates, during the installation of the second one the computer froze. After 1 hour you removed the battery and reinstalled it.
Now when you try to power it on you get a blank or black screen with no error messages. The wireless light is lit for about 30 seconds before it powers itself down.
There has been some Windows updates that have been causing an issue.
Would you boot into Safe Mode and uninstall these updates.
KB2982791, KB2970228, KB2975719 and KB2975331.
The other one that is suspected of causing this issue is the "Search Protect" software.
If you check under programs and it is listed, please uninstall it.

See which Windows updates are installed

Satellite C660 does not start up

Yesterday we purchased a Satellite C660 with Windows 7 64bit installed. Worked just fine but today the laptop does not start up again. Updates were installed but after pressing the power button the light of the hdd turns on for a few seconds, the vents work for two seconds and then ... nothing !

You cannot start notebook at all?
Can you enter BIOS settings with F2 at start up?
Which updates have you installed?
If nothing works you have only one choice: either bring it back to your local dealer and ask for replacement or contact Toshiba service provider directly. They can check hardware and help you with this.

Cq61-240ED laptop does not power on

I have a Compaq CQ61-240ED laptop. For some time the battery was week, only lasted for 5 minutes to run the laptop. Suddenly the laptop would not power up anymore. The AC adapter was broken. After connecting a different adapter. when pressing start button, the battery indicator light flashes 3 times, furthermore no sign of life. No fan, no HD spinning, no screen, nothing. Also, when I connect the power adapter, AC light near the power inlet on the laptop does not burn. When I remove the battery and plug in the adapter, the AC light comes on for 4 seconds and then switches off. The laptop does not start when I press the power switch the battery indicator flashes 3 times, even when the battery is out. I searched most of the posts but could not find this situation.
Tried already hard reset, took RAM memory out and put it back. Took CMOS battery out, no result.
Anybody has a clue?

Turn on the computer and press F2 or select Diagnostics (F2) to open the Diagnostics menu. Make sure the ram is in the computer at the time of diagnostics and make sure no external device is in the USB ports. If the ram was bad you might have had other issue before it stopped working.

Laptop L655-S5157 Does Not Start Up & Run.......

My Laptop L655-S5157 Does Not Start Up & Run Longer Than 1-3 Mins Upon Selecting The Start Button.
After It Starts & Looks Like It's Going To Run Normal, It Just Turns Right OFF.
I Can't Send Any Attachments Because The Only Way I Can Communicate Is Running The LT In The "SAFE MODE".

G570 WIN 7 does not start-laptop powers off

frndz i m having problem with my lenovo g570. some times windows 7 does not start and my laptop power automatically off after the BIOS screen seen in my laptop. and when i insert any c.d it does read and in my computer the DVD-ROM drive is not visible. plz plz tell me what is the problem if any one can help me out. i complaint to lenovo customer care but they told that they can not help me becoz i have windows ultimate and they told me to change the windows to primium, basic or stater or what ever except windows ultimate. i didnt get why the told that. so plz tell me that what to do and why they told me like this? and plz also tell that if my laptop is having problem with software or hardware? plz thanks to those who can help me in advance. plz plz save me from this trouble bcoz i have used my laptop for juz 5 months and i started getting this type of problems with my laptop so plz help me............. thanku once agian.
