HP Pavilion dv3-4210tx Overheating

My 2 years 6 months notebook pc is overheating. So I tried almost all possible solutions I can find for it. But still does overheat!
What I tried:
Cleaning the insides: Fan/Heatsink/Removing and reapplying the thermal compund
Disabling "Fan always on"
Reducing Maximum Processor state
I've always used a cooling pad beneath it
Greasing the cooling fan inside
(These seemed to have worked for a day or two then went back to overheating again and again)
So, Do I really need to buy a fan replacement? And what if this doesn't solve my problem, it will only waste my money and I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare. This machine was doing pretty great until this overheating problem occured, I used to multi-task using several programs while even playing online games. But suddenly everything changed, when the fire nation attacked. My laptop started turning itself off because it reaches 100c when I'm playing games or watching streaming videos!

My system is a HP Envy 14 - 1240ep. I'm using BIOS F.23, I tried F.26, but the BIOS update didn't solve the problem.
I tried Disabling the BIOS option for LAN sleep mode, but that disn't solve it neither.
I have a clean install of Win7 Pro 64-bits, and tried to install the original SwSetup NIC dirvers (however, since I've got the error for unplugged cable, I'm not sure if everything went ok).
My NIC is in "comma" for 2 weeks now. During the past 2-3 months it would work sometimes after the cable was plugged in for 3-4 hours. In spite of turning on it would go off after any stand-by, restart or shutdown.
I'm starting to get empty of ideas to crack this problem.
    Any suggestion?

    Hi,
Laptop Model : HP Pavilion DV3 41700-EE Entertainment series.
I download the latest official driver for my lap top from this link : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-93326-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
After the installation i rebooted my device and after the windows loading i got a black screen ! i went to safe mode and unistall the video card and also it's driver from device manager and when i came back the black screen was gone but i have only my onboard Integ graphic which is very slow.
also i went to AMD web site and get AMD Catalyst from their web site but nothing happened after the installation and i think they don't provide an appropriate driver for my lap top.
i also tries to go to device manager and with right click on my display adapter and update driver point to the display driver location on my syste but this time it does not take time the black screen after restart, and in the middle of installation i got a black screen.
Also i upgraded my BIOS Firmware from 16 to 24, but nothing changed.
i just wanna know is it a software problem or hardware problem ? how can i find out that ?
also i don't want this switchy manner and i don't care about the power efficency. i just want to my device work on maximum performance.
What you suggest i do ?

Use the recovery manager to reinstall the original AMD graphics driver and Catalyst Control center.

  • HP Pavilion dv3-4150st hdd and ssd together?

    hello,
i have HP Pavilion dv3-4150st . can i put hdd and ssd harddisk together in my notebook?

    Hi True-Paladin,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to address your concerns.
HP can only recommended tested configurations, as they know the expected result.  It is a personal choice to deviate from their recommendations in  the maintenance and service guide.  That is not to say they will not work, only that they have not been tested and therefore  results are unknown and therefore unsupported.

  • No hdmi sound option on pavilion dv3 4050ea

My pavilion dv3 4050ea does not have any option to output sound via HDMI (no SPDIF or HDMI options anywhere you would expect to find them on the system), but according to the specification it should be capable. I have checked for new drivers for video and audion cards and Windows reports the installed drivers are correct. Can anyone advise how I can fix this as I would like both sound and vision to output to my TV via HDMI?

Go to Control Panel-->Hardware and Sound-->Sound and on the Playback tab, go to the blank space under the last device, right click and tick show disabled devices. Hope this helps.

  • HP Pavilion DV3 ( Scroll & Caps Lock LED's blinking four times + Blank Screen )

    Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion DV3-2157cl
When I press the power button, the screen remains blank. Also, the scroll & the Caps Lock buttons keep blinking four times.
Sometimes, the laptop works like nothing's wrong but Most of the time, it remains blank with the blinking lights!
    Can anyone help me?

i had a problem with my dv3 (blank screen keeps flashing) and used this method to reflow the graphics card/chip (see link below).  only try this method if you are at your wits end... and you are skilled with taking apart/putting together electronics.  it will take you a minimum of 1 hour (but most likely, about 2).  you will need a heat gun (about $10 - $20).
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SziIr34Md0g
to prevent it from continually over heating, you can try the penny mod (google it).  that's what i did.  you basically take a penny and sand off both sides until it is the right thickness and solder it onto the heatsink.  you'll need to remove the sticky blue foam that HP used instead.
i also noticed that a laptop cooler placed under your laptop works well for keeping it cool.  it can be fixed again and again using the method above but it is time consuming.  to prevent getting a cold connection which leads to this problem, don't move the laptop.  yes, it sucks that you can't move it but that's the only option you have.

  • Hp pavilion dv6-2170ee overheating !!!

the hp pavilion dv6-2170ee laptop is overheating (Excess heat) !!!!
    why ??!!!

    Try this:
    Hello,
I decided to sacrifice 1 percent (just) of performance for the sake of cool temperatures and silent fan. I have HP DV6, with AMD Turion RM-74 and HD4650.
So, Yes, You will loose up to 1 percent Your CPU power, but heyh, this processor is so fast that You will barelly notice the change. You will still watch HD content with 720p and everything else smoothly. Note, that gaming will be harder part but consider Your laptop not as a device created for heavy gaming.
    However,
I rarely do play NBA 2K10 on my laptop. It is very cpu demanding. After I've done the above, my CPU temp never reached beyond 71 percent while gaming, GPU - 75 percent.
Without the above mentioned my CPU went over 100 and GPU over 90.
    No more overheating.
So, how to reduce Your notebook temps:
    (i) Power Options -> More power options,
(ii) Balanced plan -> Change settings,
    (iii) Change advanced power settings
(iv) Processor power management -> Maximum processor state -> On Battery - 50 percent, Plugged in - 99 percent.
    (vi) Save changes and close.
Now, mine temperatures are - idle 48, heavy load - 57, extremelly heavy load (HD 720p content) - 62-63. (At the moment my CPU cores are at 47 celsius).
And please note, that the notebooks coolers are just a joke and designed not to cool your laptops, but to take away your money. Their effieciency is minimum: -1/2 celcius.
    Best regards.

  • HP Pavilion dv5-1111ea overheating

    Hi there,
i need help with my HP Pavilion dv5-1111ea.
Overheating all the time. if i just use it on top of the table, in 5 min it freeze.
I've been testing it with some stuff to make the feet of it a bit higher and it works, so I'm sure now it's overheating the problem.
I've already installed the new firmwares but it still doing the same thing.
I've paid to clear the fan cooler and still the same.
I've read in forums and it's a problem in the model, all laptops with AMD Bits processors and fun air exit in the left handside have overheating problems.
Could HP help us on it?

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3050tx Overheating while Running Over Battery

I have an hp pavilion dv6-3050tx, Running Windows-7 64 bit. Few days back I had changed my battery as my earlier battery was not able to provide backup more than 5min. But after inserting the new battery I am facing a problem.
When I unplug the charger, after some time my pc get hibernated, and when I again turn it on it shows following massage
"The system bios has detected your notebook PC was placed in hibernation to avoid overheating.
The system is now operating normally and your data should remain intact.
Overheating may occur if the cooling vents are blocked or the operating temperature exceed the specification. The notebook PC should return to normal operation once the situation is resolved.
    System Temperature (90D)"
I cleaned the fan and also applied thermal paste, but the problem is still there. And the main thing is, it happens only when the pc is running over battery, on Plug-in I have used my pc for 3-4 hours continuously and its running smoothly. But as soon as I unplugged the charger, the fan starts moving faster and soon after some time the pc automatically gets into hibernation due to overheating.
Again I am saying specifically that, this problem occurs only when the PC is running over battery. While Plug-in pc runs smoothly and properly.

    Hi

  • HP Pavilion DV7 1030el overheating

    Specs:
    Processor : Intel Core 2 P8400 @ 2.26 GHz
    RAM: 4GB
    GPU: nVidia 9650m GT
    HDD: 2x 250GB
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
I've been using this laptop for over 2 years now. First of all, installing all the bloatware hp provides with total care and advisors will keep my system at 1.4gb of RAM in idle. The first thing I noticed was that the fan was always on and usually running at about 50% speed. Actually I know only 3 noise levels: silent, loud and very loud. I managed to turn it off only by using the power saving mode and by disabling all the Windows visual enhancements.
    SpeedFan data in idle:
    CPU @ 45-50 C
    HDD @ 40 C
    GPU @ 60 C
If i try to play something with the computer flat on the table
    CPU: 60-65 C
    GPU 80-85 C
    HDD: 50 C
This is a high performance system, and it usually works just fine but i gotta tell you... IT IS EXTREMELY NOISY AND HOT most of the time. Cleaning the cooler on a regular basis doesn't change anything. It's the same on Vista, Windows 7 32 and 64 bit.

    How are you cleaning it?
Many times a laptop overheating is directly related to the cooling of the processor. The main culprit is the fan. The fan sucks in air from the bottom and blows it out the side. It will also suck in hair, dust, and other debris. That stuff often gets trapped by the heat sink and over time builds up in a layer which chokes off the cool air going to the processor making the fan work harder.
    Check this out:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01657439&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...
What I recommend is getting some canned air and blowing out the vents in the side and bottom of the laptop. If after doing this you still have problems with over-heating, and your laptop is in warranty, you can take your laptop to a HP Authorized Service Center and ask them to clean the fan and heatsink. You can check your warranty here:
    http://www13.itrc.hp.com/service/ewarranty/warrantyResults.do?admit=109447627+1286541891570+28353475
If it is out of warranty, consider searching for the maintenance manual for your specific model, in the manual there are schematics for taking apart the laptop. Cleaning the fan is much easier that removing a motherboard, so don't feel to intimidated by the idea. Also you can remove the heatsink and then remove the thermal grease and apply a new layer which also helps alleviate heat related issues.
